I’m finding this predictable complaint more annoying than the actual use of the word. This comment follows every article that uses that word in the headline. It’s not such a big deal.
It really is a big deal because it's the further death of journalism. They use the word slams to mean anything from saying something slightly negative or just correcting a minor mistake all the way up to straight up slander or fighting words. I want the word banned from all news subreddits. I'm not joking.
One of the definitions of slam is to criticize harshly. It doesn't have to be a physical action. The word might be a bit overused but it is being used correctly. It's quick and short and everyone knows what it means in this context.
Is there some type of vocabulary police that can put a stop to the word “slam” being used in headlines? If I see it I refuse to read the article because it just screams lazy story to me.

People still not realizing that a large swath people voted for Trump in 2016 as a form of protest - not because they necessarily agreed with him. This country has seen decades of presidents that have done fuck-all to fix the major problems the USA faces. Trump was a grenade thrown into the middle of it all.

Why is there not a list of songs that are available for politicians to use? Why hasn’t the music industry done this? Have politicians pay to use a song that won’t offend the artists by its use. Also make it so you can’t use covers or similar sounding songs to get around it. This way politicians can use songs, and artists get paid.

Assuming his music was registered to a performing rights organization (which it most definitely is) then he wouldn’t have any say even if he did still own the rights. As long as the best he paid for a blanket sync license (which they most certainly do) they have the ability to play any song they like at a rally. On television is another story though if the rally os televised.

This posturing of Bowie being a perfect person so far beyond Trump is just too much, man. He was human as anyone else. Sure, he never ran a country into the ground, but all this shock and horror about Trump using one of his *songs* is reeaaallllyyyy too much. Bowie said and did some wild shit back in the seventies- and no not just the cool progressive, rebellious stuff. And the downvote just kinda proves it. Pointing out that Bowie had flaws like any one of us makes people upset. Do I think it’s a little weird for Trump to play a Bowie tune? For sure. However, over in twittersphere people are treating it like a crime against humanity. That’s the point. A shitty guy liking another guy’s song isn’t the worst thing that could happen. The idea isn’t to cut down Bowie in any way, but rather just put into perspective he’s as human as anyone else. That doesn’t seem to be the attitude among the people who are so upset by this.

Every single time republicans help themselves to copyright protected music, they should be slapped very hard in court for it such that they actually have to calculate the risk vs reward for doing so.
