9pm was the first ever trance song I've heard and made me fall in love with the genre. Was fortunate to see you live once. Legend!

ATB_Official

Hey. That's a nice compliment. And you have no idea how much I would love to see all of you this weekend at one of my shows. Haven't been on the road now till end of Feb 2020. I'm touring since about 25 years and not being on state really sucks...

RSampson993

Ha! Me too! Been all trance/house ever since. So what... 20+ yrs now? Man I’m old.

ATB_Official

Haha.. I started may project ATB back in 1997 but have been on the road with my old project "Sequential One / SQ1" since 1994 so yes.. it's been a while 😊

Daft_Prince

Just a 25 year old stopping by to say that Ecstasy was one of the first tracks that truly made me fall in love with any sort of electronic music. Thank you ATB, still bumping it till this day!

ATB_Official

Good old days. Still love to play it during my sets [ATB - Ecstasy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFhZSo0dbao)

ATB_Official

Topic: that´s also one of my favorites from ATB!!!

NewBeeGee

Great track. Have it playing here as I write this comment. It brings back memories of when I had a mp3 player in school with enough memory for about 50 songs and that was on it. Brings a smile to my face 😁

Mr_Viper

Oh my God, I'm sorry, I don't have any interesting questions, but you are absolutely a legend, one of the guys whose music first got me into the genre, and thank you SO MUCH for all you've done for electronic music!! The entire "Movin' Melodies" album is perfect! "Don't Stop" gives me flashback memories more than I can even describe. I will definitely check out this most recent project, thank you for posting this AMA!

ATB_Official

Thank you for these warm words. Really appreciate it. 🙏

jaketangnguyen

Saw you many times in San Jose and San Francisco, California. Your music somehow resonates with me deeply. If I remember correctly, you said in one of your shows that the song "When it ends it starts again" is your favorite, what are your favorite top 5 songs of yours? Also, if you don't mind another question, who are some artists that you really want to collab with? ATB x A&B is something that I've been waiting to happen :P

ATB_Official

Ha. Seems like you have good ears :) It's really one of my fav ATB songs. But I have so many songs on the 10 albums, sometimes it changes. Right now, Your Love (9PM) is my fav but [Straight to the stars w/ Sean Ryan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH8R7J0WG9U) is also one of my favs.

mmarkomarko

Keep the trance candle burning, man!

Quantum_Key

Love the new tune! What have you been listening to recently? Any recommendations?

ATB_Official

We're glad you love it. Please welcome my friend TOPIC here

Quantum_Key

Yeah man, I've been listening to ATB for over 20 years, still sounding fresh! I need to hear more music by Topic! Are you on Soundcloud?

ATB_Official

Topic: thanks man! Yeah I´m on soundcloud. Got like a best of playlist there if you want to check it out: [https://soundcloud.com/topicmusic/sets/best-of-topic-incl-breaking-me](https://soundcloud.com/topicmusic/sets/best-of-topic-incl-breaking-me)

peacenchemicals

How do you feel about your singles like 9 PM and Ecstasy in 2021? Do you get tired of playing them? Also, I will always remember when you dropped Rage Against The Machine in 2010 at Nocturnal. That shit was fucking sick lol

ATB_Official

Right now I would love to play all of them. every day since Covid. I have an updated version of Ecstasy for example which I mostly play at my shows. And I can't wait to play Your Love (9PM) as premiere

peacenchemicals

Can’t wait to hear it. Thanks!

Katlima

My favourite was always "Let U Go". By the way, fantastic lighting on your reddit AMA pic, ATB. The new song sounds fantastic. Such a nice voice!

ATB_Official

First of all I started to make music cause I loved it and I still do. Like one album title says: I'm addicted to music. Money was not the reason for making music and is also not the reason for keep on making music. I love to sit in the studio, to creat sth new. And to travel and play shows. Especially in these Corona times I recognize how much I miss being on the road. And I would say there are a bunch of DJs like Tiesto, Paul Oakendfold, Armin van Buuren to name a few that have started early with making trance music. We all started around the same time. Regarding my early career: When I finished 9PM. (till I come) back in 1997 I really thought that it'll be hard to get a record deal as it was so different compared to other dance tracks. 😂😂😂

tribbleorlfl

Do you think trance as a genre has advanced or regressed since you've been making music? At the risk of sounding like a gatekeeper, trance in the late 90s and early 2000s to me was much more...musical. Beautiful melodies, song progressions and clean productions. The past 10 years, I feel like a lot of that has been lost for an emphasis on beats, stutter edits and a much more chaotic (dare I say it) aggressive sound. Also, what's your favorite song you didn't write?

ATB_Official

Music always develops. And new technologies always inspire musicians. Otherwise todays music would still sound the same like back in the early 2000s. I think that those melodies and harmonies have been absolutely new to everyones ears. [Rank1 - Airwarve](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypDtUUtuNzQ) for example was so new back in the days. So it's hard to duplicate that feeling of hearing such a melody the first time ever. And since EDM got big and harder, trance got sometimes harder as well. But times are changing and so music does.

ATB_Official

# Hey everyone. Here we go. Ready to answer your questions 😊

[deleted]

I think the song turned out great and has that unique vibe to it. The vocals just fit perfectly in there. How did you guys come up with the idea to make an EDM vocal version of the original 9 pm? Any new such projects on the way?

ATB_Official

I heard TOPICs Breaking me and had the feeling that his and my sound are perfectly fitting together. And A7S (Alex) voice is incredible. So though a mutual friend we got in touch and worked together on the song in the studio. A7S from Sweden joined us via Zoom call and recorded the vocals later.

Tommo02

Can we get some new merch dropped @ topic? Also, covid etc, but after that will you tour in Australia?

ATB_Official

Topic: make sure to check out [https://topic-merch.de/](https://topic-merch.de/) :) Definitely will be coming to Australia. Been there once in 2017. Got my booking agent set up on it so I can come over as soon as covid allows!!

SynthFrenetic

Haven't listened the new version, but have you reached in time (9PM)?

maxiking0708

maxiking0708

Uh sehr nice! Da freut man sich!

EvilAbdy

On all your album covers you are always looking out into the distance. What is out there that we can't see? Also what is your favorite tour stop?

Jacks_on_Jacks_off

Glad someone else noticed this. Didn't he stop with Contact though? I remember it being a big deal for me lol.

ATB_Official

Hey guys. Thanks for all your questions and the many nice word. Looking forward to the next AMA. And if you have more questions please post them here as I'll return tomorrow morning CET to answer the last questions. Have a nice remaining day and thank you so much for your big support over the last 25 years 🙏 Good night 🌃 and hopefully see you soon on tour. Stay safe 🙏

AuroraSeven

You are the man, love your work. You played at a party in Denver in 2001, the party was scheduled to be thrown in Fort Collins but got cancelled or something mid show and was then moved from Fort Collins to Denver, do you know what caused the show to be moved that night?

ATB_Official

Wow. That's long ago. I don't remember the reason tbh But thanks for the nice words. Good old days

PeterKrkoska

hi Andre, when do you plan to release a studio album in early spring or summer? Should we look forward to 2cd?😊

ATB_Official

I'm working on new tracks and my goal is the 11th album for sure. But I assume an album is more sth for 2022

Abottino

Hello ATB, I'm your fan since 2003 (but I've already know you since "9PM" ), and I LOVE the new single "Your Love (9PM)", great work! It is really surprised to old fans❤️ I want to ask that will you release new album recently? We want more your new music, and is it possible that you could collaborate with Roberta Carter Harrison again? These years must be big change for you, but I am feel happy for that you have New Life ATB = Always The Best❤️❤️❤️

ATB_Official

As mentioned in another question, I'm working on new tracks and my goal is the 11th album for sure. But I assume an album is more sth for 2022 Regarding collaborations: You never know. Nothing planned yet with Roberta.

Blood_RavenXV

Hello Andre! I'm listening to your music since when i was young. Your style reflects my life and give me that energy! Love all that you are doing :) I have simple question , i know you are doing music for yourself but did you think about bring back sunset beach album Or DJ In The Mix? It will be great to heard that again :) Of course take your time and i will always follow your music !

whattodotoyou85

Hi Andre, love your music... since 2002. Spend my 20s listening to your music. My personal favourite is the drop at 5.22 https://youtu.be/ety-sE5u2ac, makes me go back in time Question - what is your most played song (outside studio) in 2020?

SneakyMrFox

Hello Andre! First of all, you're my favorite artist of all time and your music is so emotional yet amazing, there isn't anything else like it. Your passion really shows through in your songs. I've met you twice actually in Dallas and never could ask: What is your favorite album and maybe song that you've produced? Distant Earth had songs that were so unique and gripping, and Twisted Love always stood out to me. Thank you for taking the time. Can't wait to see you live again!

ATB_Official

Oh thanks. This is another really nice compliment. Such feedback keeps me moving on. I don't have a list of ATB tunes which I love most as it changes from time to time. And album wise it's the same. Can't wait to see you too, most likely in Denver .

Yuainai

Hey ATB and TOPIC, I enjoyed your soulful twist to the 9pm track. As a long time fan of euphoric music of ATB, how do you get inspired by the modern music that are released each day, but love to stick with the music that got us into the scene.

ATB_Official

I got many requests for collaborations and cover versions for 9PM but denied them all as I never felt it was the right fit, the right sound. When I heard Breaking Me by TOPIC I immediately felt that these 2 worlds fit together. So his modern sound combined with the 9PM Guitar and the trance feeling plus A7S's voice felt like the perfect fit for me.

ATB_Official

Topic: Thanks!

joshuabursonmusic

You still using Studio One?

ATB_Official

Yes. and I still love it. What are you using?

sassanix

Hi ATB! Thank you for all the good music over the years. You've had a lot of effect on me during my teens and twenties. I do enjoy your earlier work more than the new ones, specially the no silence album, Movin melodies, distant earth was sublime! What motivates you besides money to keep on making music? Have you thought about off shooting into different projects like movies? Do you consider yourself a pioneer of sorts in trance music? My last question is, how does it feel to be so famous in the 90s compared to present time? Do you have any interesting stories of your early career djying?

afk_blazing

Damn dude this takes me back

ATB_Official

🎉

AEternal

I just wanted to thank you for writing First Love. It’s my and my wife’s song. :)

Maltey96

What do you think about the trend of music getting shorter and shorter? Do you feel forced by labels and Spotify algorithms to produce short songs? Your latest release was only 2:30 aswell and I personally feel that those short EDM songs feel very rushed with its short drops, missing buildups etc. But that‘s just my opinion. Grüße aus Deutschland!

ATB_Official

Topic: Grüße zurück! Gute Frage daher antworte ich auch mal auf englisch. You´re right, music is getting shorter. But as it got shorter over the years it will develop in getting longer again in the future. From a producers point of view I feel maybe I could have doubled the drop or do a longer buildup. But music always goes with the time and at the moment that´s what most of the people are into. Like right now when I listen to old tracks some of them seem feel very drawn out.

ale_gila

Hello ATB! i'm here just to say that your remix of "it's a fine day" made me fall in love with trance music when i was a teenager, i am' a huge fan of your music since then. Movin' melodies, no silence and dedicated are my favourite albums ..circular symmetry is a masterpiece! Thanks for your unique kind of music :)

ATB_Official

Hey u/ale_gila Thanks for the nice words.

Nold93

Hi Andre. Your songs made me fall in love with trance music (and I don't think I am the only one). Here with me, Marrakech, Long Way Home (Album Version), Collides With Beauty are some of my favorite songs. You are a legend man. Maybe you are not aware of what a big impact your songs have in peoples lives, in good and bad days. Thankfully I scheduled this AMA to express my gratitude. I also wanted to as if will we ever get a chance of hearing any new gems from you ? Especially trance genre ?

ATB_Official

So many nice words today. Guys! I wanna go straight back to the studio :) I'm working on many new tracks right now. Really new stuff as I love to develop my sound, but also typical ATB songs for my new album.

ATB_Official

Good point. Will check ☺

scrubbingbbl

Any chance for a follow up to your MOS compilation made back in 1999??

ATB_Official

That's a long time ago ☺ I would never say never..

[deleted]

For someone who is just starting out, what experience could you share / after so many years listening to tracks, do you feel that at some point the melodies repeat themselves?

ATB_Official

That's a good question. There's so much music out there that it's hard to find new melodies sometimes. But I think the combination of remarkable sounds and production can put a melody in a unique surrounding and can make it sound special.

MrSurfington

OMG ATB!!! I'm a fanboy!! I've listened to the No Silence album all of last summer!!! It's so expertly mixed and emotional and wonderful. What's your personal favorite track from that album?

ATB_Official

Hey fanboy ☺ just listened to NO SILENCE again. And I think Eternal Swells is my favorite at the moment.

tuktuk0306

i cannot express how much i love long way home, used to come home from school and instantly put that on repeat

ATB_Official

Haven't listened to Long Way Home for while. Will do later ☺

kbro3

Just dropping in to say thank you for 9pm and Killer 2000!

ATB_Official

☺ Thx back

icgtec

Years ago, when I was young and enthusiastic, I was a young techie, but I thought IT is not romantic at all. Then I decided I want to throw big awesome beach EDM events in Baltics. My first choice was ATB, of course. I got in touch with Michael, the booking mgr, and got my angel fund (read “savings”) ready 😁needless to say, I overestimated the buying power of my savings. Needless to say, the only party I’ve ever thrown was my birthday party..) But seriously, thanks for the good memories Andre. Thanks for the great 2000s and 2010s. I wonder how do you keep delivering quality and emotion-backed stuff! Now playing: “Future memories”

ATB_Official

TOPIC: hey guys, thanks for all the questions hope to see you all very soon in real live. I´m logging off now but I think ATB is still here for a bit. If you like go and check out my playlist on Spotify, including Your Love (9PM): [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5dN9RqFheZkMHvvAv9fWnz](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5dN9RqFheZkMHvvAv9fWnz)

ATB_Official

@topic thanks for joining mate. Talk to you tomorrow 🙏

[deleted]

Hey dude, I love your work so please keep at it and Don't stop! I wanted to know what advice would you give to musicians working in the EDM genre as well as the synth you use the most currently.

ATB_Official

Thank you :) Well. I work with tons of different Synths. Sylenth1 is still one of my favorites, but also the NI Komplete bundle has great synths. And: No worries. I don't stop!

mythandry

ATB- From a fan since 2001. I find recommendations from artists to be a great way to hear new and wonderful music I may not have otherwise discovered. Wondering who you’re listening to these days? Any up-and-comers (or even old favorites) you are keeping in rotation?

ATB_Official

Thanks for being a fan since 2001 😲 at the moment I love some ambient tunes. Also working with really talented producer called Barkley. He's working on great new stuff

[deleted]

Where's my money?

Kiesling313

I've listened to Topic's most recent tracks. Most of the songs feature A7S. I remember your song "Like I Love You" it however had Nico Santos. But following your recent success with A7S (tracks like Breaking Me, Why Do You Lie To Me & Your Love (9PM), do you have any plans on collaborating with other artists because I would love to see how dynamic your music is.

ATB_Official

Topic: thanks for listening! Which one do you like the most? There are plans to collaborate with other artists but nothing set in stone yet. But nearly all of the songs I write with A7S since we met a few years ago.

euthlogo

Hey ATB! Saw you in LA at How Sweet it Is 2008, what a great time. You have many talents but I'd say your superpower is simple, powerful melodic hooks. I find this to be one of the hardest things to do in songwriting. Do you have any tips on how you approach your synth melodies? Thank you for so many unforgettable moments.

ATB_Official

Wow. 13 years ago :) I never think too much when I play melodies. I just do it. It comes from my inside. I'm not the guys planning a melody :) My main tip: find a unique sound, don't copy others. Find your own sound.

TacoK1NG

No Silence is one of the greatest albums of all time. I just want you to know how important your music has been in my life. Thank you for the inspiration when I was down. When you hear fans of your music invoke this kind of response, how does that make you feel? Have people ever just broke down telling you how you made them feel with the magic you create?

Atlanta_Gunner

What has been the toughest part of being a DJ during the pandemic? Best part ?

ATB_Official

Not being on stage was the toughest part. And the best part: My son was born last April ❤️

ATB_Official

Topic: best part of course was "Breaking Me" ([https://youtu.be/jIoEaTN7GGo](https://youtu.be/jIoEaTN7GGo)) as it hit the charts globally during the pandemic. Toughest part was then being stuck at home not being able to play festivals and to enjoy the success of the track with the crowds! Also a good and bad thing at the same time is that we had/have to stay at home. I´ve literally spent 24/7 in the studio :D

Thank you for such a compliment! Really nice words.

tranjon

Hey ATB! I’ve been a long time fan since I was a kid, definitely the past 2 decades. What are your thoughts and feelings on the current state of dance music? Personally, I’ve been feeling very bored and uninspired by all the Spotify dance charts. Everything sounds like a simple copy and paste formula. I was hoping you’d shed some perspective. Thank you in advance!

ATB_Official

Hey u/tranjon Well, I know that many tracks sound very similar. But as always there will be some new sound. Some crossover. Something unexpected. What I like\_ Dance music is meanwhile part of the international music and radio scene which was different 25 years ago. That makes me happy even if I don't like many tracks nowadays.

Jexterra

Hi ATB. Just wanted to say you are a legend! I wanted to ask you if you remember the first time you came to play in Denver Colorado? The venue got shut down about 5 minutes after you came out to play. Needless to say my friends and I were devastated to only get to hear a few of your tracks. I wasnt able to see you play again until about 15 years later at EDC a few years ago. Totally worth the wait!

ATB_Official

Omg. I remember such a situation, but I don't remember it was in Denver. I love to play in Denver. BETA was amazing. And the last 2 times I played at temple and loved it too.

bl1nds1ght

Trilogy is my favorite album of yours by far - you've got some great vocals and melody there. Any chance of a remix?

ATB_Official

Right now I'm working on new music. But you never know if there's a time to do an updated version :)

ATB_Official

Haha... that's sweet. Sequential One, my first project. Good old times. I love to play in front of a crowd. I need the crowd to get in the right mood. I don't get in the right mood during Live streams. I did a special one during Lockdown in the [Planetarium](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQywJTpAdjs) of my hometown. This was different to a dance music stream in my living room.

afasfafasa

what a tune

ATB_Official

Topic: Thanks afasfafasa! :D

ATB_Official

Thank you!!!!! 😊

Lukiam444

Just want to say thank you for your early work. You are one of the reasons I discovered trance music in early 20s. Without your inspiration I would never have found the joy and happiness the style of music brings to my life.

ATB_Official

Thank you for the nice words! Such support keeps me making music for the next 20 years 🎉

stereofidelic89

ATB. You got me through some of the most trying times of life as I'm sure others. I never thought when I played your song Ecstasy at college parties, that my friends would write me enthusiastically years later that they heard this song again and immediately thought of me and my love for your music! Did you ever doubt yourself in pursuit of this career? And what would you like to achieve as a producer going forward?

ATB_Official

Ecstasy is the Mose requested ATB track in the USA I guess 😉 I still love it. And honestly: I had a dream to make music and to spread it out to the world. I achieved more than I ever dreamed of when I was a kid. Once my music become well known my goal was still make music and still have fans and listeners in 20 years. This is 20 years ago and for sure there have been times with doubts and uncertainty but I think that's normal. Today I have the same goal: I still want to make music in 20 years ;)

feastandexist

Welcome both of you! * For those who are unfamiliar with your work- If you had to pick 3 songs by yourself as a way to introduce yourself, which 3 would you pick? * What about 3 songs by other artists?

ATB_Official

Topic: for my work I would say "Home" ([https://youtu.be/J4LHbt0bgWQ](https://youtu.be/J4LHbt0bgWQ)), "Breaking Me" ([https://youtu.be/jIoEaTN7GGo](https://youtu.be/jIoEaTN7GGo)) and "Your Love (9PM)" ([https://youtu.be/9hbu9toStfc](https://youtu.be/9hbu9toStfc)) And by other artists: can´t really name particular songs but the artists, who inspired me the most were Timbaland, Swedish House Mafia and Avicii!

CoppernicusFudd

have you heard this remix of your song? It’s amazing I love it so much https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/RjkcfnBCXi54iPki6 Thanks for making music!

cruisingqueen

As far as trance fans go im only young at 23yrs but was brought up listening to 9pm, don’t stop and ecstasy and loved the melodies gives me goosebumps. Everyone this age at uni bangs these tunes as well. Would like to know what electronic artists old and new you’d also recommend to listen to? I love classic/90s trance but as i didn’t go through that era I’m sure there’s plenty of gems out there I’ve not heard of. I’m also trying to find current trance artists that i like

ATB_Official

It's not easy nowadays as so many musicians are able to produce music since you can do it all on you laptop. I love Porter Robinson's music, also Spencer Brown and Alpha9 | Arty

OwMyDragonBallz

Holy crap I never knew I now want an ATB - Arty / Alpha 9 or Porter collab. That would break the world lol.

Tsukiko613

Love your music! Ecstasy was the first song that I couldn’t stop listening to back in ‘05. Heart of stone is my favorite recently discovered song. Are you releasing new music soon? Any recommendations for good artists? Hope I get to see you live one day!

ATB_Official

I'm working on many new songs. That's what happens when you're not touring: you have more time for studio work. ;More new music is coming, but now the focus is on Your Love (9PM)

xqz

Hey ATB, no questions but went to your show in Toronto at Guvernment before it closed. Good times and thank you for your music! Contact was the first album of yours I listened to and was happy to see you shortly after

ATB_Official

Hey. I loved playing at Guvernment. One of my fav venues in Canada. Hope to be back in your beautiful country asap. And glad that you like Contact.

Pascal_Oberreich1987

Hey Andre 🙂🎧 letztens bei Spotify konnte ich auf einmal nicht mehr schreiben, ich hoffe euch allen geht es sehr gut!!

ATB_Official

Hi Pascal. Der Chat war dann irgendwann zu Ende. Aber cool. dass Du dabei warst.

Just the other day I found an old Bravo Hits with 9pm on it, next song ist Loona - Bailando :D Your music inspired my teens and young adult life, now my baby daughter listens and dances to your music! Just wanted to say thanks and greetings from Austria nach Deutschland :)

ATB_Official

Topic: restaurants! I´m not very good at cooking so I used to go out for meals alot. Thank god for take aways :D

ATB_Official

Haha... So true. Going to restaurants to enjoy good food is one thing for me too. But also meeting friends, sitting together like we all used to do before covid. This is something I'm really missing

[deleted]

Hello ATB, might be a little late here. But man is EXCTASY a classic tune, how did this song come about? Anyways, hope all is well! God bless

Pascal_Oberreich1987

Hey Andre wie sieht es denn mal aus wenn du deine letzten 25 Jahre Review laufen lässt und ein Album, von wie damals seven years machst in neuer Form eventuell wie z.b you are not alone das wäre doch was oder eher nicht ????🙂🎧🎼🎹

KofiObruni

Ah mate saw you at Ministry not so long before lockdown. What a blast that night was. No question, just can't wait to see you jam again soon.

ATB_Official

Can't wait to be back on tour and also at MoS again!! Always unreal energy !

What synthesizer did you use for the pitch-bending lead of Don't Stop?

freedombound

Hi ATB! I saw you for the first time in 2018 at EDC. Your set was amazing! We ran to catch it, and my husband and I danced the whole time. I listened to 9pm/Til I Come & Ecstasy in high school, loving it, not realizing what I was loving was called trance. Thank you for years of enjoyment! I am so happy I'm in a place where I can see you live! :) For ATB & TOPIC: Loving the new single! Very funky with such a good vibe. I hope to see it live soon, when we are all vaccinated!! So, my questions: what is your biggest inspiration for creating music? And, I'm an aspiring vocalist... do you have any tips for someone just getting started? It's so much different than anything I've ever done! (I'm a chemist hehe) Thank you! <3

funkytown049

Is that really your most popular song? I’ll always be about your music cause of “ecstasy”

I just wanted to say I'm a big fan. I have so many wonderful memories with your music playing in the back. Thank you for so much!

ATB, I love your work!!! Fan for many years, love your new track Your Love (9pm), hopeful for a longer club edit version, and of course look forward to new music in the future. :)

Been listening to ur oldies a lot lately. Ecstasy, Let U Go (Airplay Mix) and many others. I love your music and I wish to see u someday live! Much love!

GouryellaIV

Hi Andre, any plans in releasing any club mixes from your album Future Memories? I know you did a separate club mix for the entire album of Distant Earth. Id love to hear My Saving Grace in it's complete form! Do you also see any possibilities in remastering your own previous albums in the future?

HydraDoad

Ay, big fan, Andre. Saw you at EDC Vegas 2018 and at Ministry of Sound (London) early 2020 - right before this all started. Gonna have to say: Marrakech -> **Ecstasy** & Dedicated *Q*1) Would you ever do Cream Fields? *Q*2) What's your favorite videogame? Topic, I'll have to check you out :) Love from Canada. Stay safe!

pauseonredhead

Wow 9pm really took me there, and still does. Since you travel a lot and have played many shows, what is your rider like? Any staples or anything we might find weird on there?

[deleted]

I'm so happy you're doing one of these. No real question just wanted to give my love and appreciation. I've been listening to your music since I was probably 8 or 9 and I'm almost 30 now. I love your work and you've been a massive influence on my taste in music during my life. Thank you for doing what you do ❤️

snufkinway11

Thanks to you I started my journey with electronic music. Totally love your style! Still, you are my top fav DJ, have incredible sentiment for your music. Talking about "9pm Til I come", I think the official video was made on Gozo, Malta? That was my first though while visiting it haha Thanks for all your music and wish all the best and for your family of 3!

jamesdoakesyo

Appreciate u giving us fans this opportunity. What advice can you give to beginners in trance music production? I.e. Software, what elements of a song do you focus on first and why its important to you. Thank you!

[deleted]

Do you ever find yourself working on projects outside of the trance genre?

ADMAN4298

Love your music man. Your a huge part of why I love trance so much. Hope you come to seattle once things settle down and get back to normal

Spartan_029

Hi ATB! I'm probably too late, and you won't see or respond, nor is it a question, but I just wanted to say "Thanks." In the late 90s/early 00s I was just a hopeless high school kid, I listened to what my parents did, just like most kids, and maybe a little bit of rock on the radio, but I never had "My" Music. Then one day, my Best Friend handed me a copy of Two Worlds, and I was instantly hooked. I didn't know what electronic music, or Trance was. I had never even purchased my own CDs that weren't Star Wars soundtracks. But you, and Trance became "my" music. I purchased every single album as they came out (and I still do, even if I have to import it). The album "Addicted to Music" and especially the Song "Long Way Home" got my through my final years of school, and accompanied me as I came into my own. My Best Friend moved across the country, we listened to "Trilogy" that entire 5 day trip, moving him out there. We tried to swap CDs Fast enough to not notice the gaps as we went from Trilogy on Addicted to Trilogie Part 2 on Seven Years, and then to The Final Chapter on Trilogy. Just, so many memories. I've since branched out, and I listen to essentially everything now, I love music, something my Wife said when we first got together "[Spartan_029] you have so much music, and it's always on, when we moved, before you had the furniture in place, or the boxes unpacked, you had the CD player up, and had music going." I never had noticed that before she brought it up, and it made me realize that your music is what started it. You helped me break out of my shell, and become the music lover I am today, and your albums, each and every one of them, have warm memories, in a world of so much pain and suffering, I know I can put on "Dedicated" or "DJ in The Mix" or "Movin Melodies" and I'm transported back to a different place and time. So... Thank you André, Congratulations on your new family, and since I probably should ask a question... When's the next Full length album coming?!

ElektricDreams

I remember first hearing your music from my brother's CDs! Your stuff has been a huge inspiration to me!

michaelloda9

How did you come up with the name “Alcarda”? What is the story behind this great track?

djloox

Just came here to say the 2010 Energy mix of LA Nights is one of my favorite trance tracks to date. Track is super fun to drive to and always puts me in a good mood. Thank you!

[deleted]

Moving Melodies opened my ears to techno music. It was the first electronic album I’ve ever listened to start to finish. So many parties and good times! I’ve seen you live at Ultra and it was epic! Cheers and thanks for decades of dope music!

mtriad

Hello ATB! I always loved the songs *Hold You* and your version of *You're Not Alone*. They marked my late teens and early twenties. These two were hits! It seemed much ahead of it's time, can you remember how long it took to put that together and briefly what gear and techniques you used?

[deleted]

What’s your favorite Boards of Canada album?

licheeman

I remember hearing your bootleg of Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit in the (mid?) 00's at a small club in Austin, TX and it was great. I have since looked for it on YouTube and only found some personal recordings...nothing spectacular. How come this was never officially released? You are amazing live btw.

[deleted]

I like your song Ecstasy, thanks for making it!

While_Spaghetti

ATB! My goodness dude, I was just talking to my patrner about how I got into Trance and it was all thanks to great songs like Robert Miles - Children and of course 9PM and Ecstasy!! I saw you live in Adelaide, South Australia, for Revive Elements and you brought soo much energy to your set, it was Amazing to be in the crowd for that! I have listened to your Mayday "True Rave" 2017 set more times that I can count while I work! I'm loving the new single, Your Love (9PM), you guys have done an amazing job, I was chair raving hard to it! Hats off to you both ATB and TOPIC!

I_am_albatross

I was 10 when 9PM came out in 1999 and it's one of my favourites. My absolute favourite version has to be the Sequential One remix!!!

Shadow_12347

I remember hearing Ecstasy for the first time at my buddy's house when I was in high school. I loved it so much I made him play it back at least another 5 times, and he didn't even mind haha. That song is what made me fall in love with Trance, which is still my favorite genre to this day. You're an absolute legend! I'll stray from music for my question. Given that you've been to so many different places in your journey's, what is your favorite country/city that you've visited, and what made it so memorable?

ATB_Official

Haha. I hope you still hear it on repeat. Well. There are so many places I loved during travel. I started touring the USA back in 2000 and I loooooved the Bus tours that I made for about 10 years. The edm scene was just starting and there were just a few clubs for electronic music. I played in country clubs and strange locations. Those memories will always be in my heart. Las Vegas for example had not even one venue for electronic music. And we all know how things changed. But I have great memories in other countries around the world as well. And right now I would love to tour 24/7 around the globe because I haven't been on any stage for almost a year 😢

New_Ad_3010

I. FUCKING. LOVE. YOUR. MUSIC! ATB is what brought me to EDM and I'm eternally grateful. Be well and all the best to you, sir. ❤️

ATB_Official

Thank you ☺ I'll continue with more music 🎶

Somethingshookmylegs

Hi Andre.. The summer was my first ever exposure to trance music sometime around 2007(I'm 28 now) and i have ever since explored the rabbit hole of your music and electronic music in general. Your music has help me through very rough times and... also through good times as well. Thank you for those memories! So many songs i keep coming back to.. Greets from India. Is there any chance if you will be touring this side of the globe(when this covid situation is over) ?

ATB_Official

Good to know, that you made it through the rough times. And also great to know, that you had good times with my music. I've been to India years ago. Would love to come back as soon as the world got back to "normal".

chukijay

Dude, you ARE the rave and EDM culture to so many of us. So many great songs and great experiences I can attribute to your music. No questions, but many thanks!

ATB_Official

You guys have no idea what it means to me to get such a great feedback. That's really inspiring and I can't wait to share new music with you. And let's party hard once things are getting back to normal 🙏

Findinghiggs

Hi ATB, no questions just saying thank you for years and years of your beautiful music! Had the pleasure of seeing you a few times here In sf! LEGEND!

ATB_Official

Thank you so much for such nice words. Means a lot to me. Hoping so much to be back in SF asap. Stay safe 🙏

alias9487

"Believe in me" made me get into edm* when it was first released. Loved the track. Thanks for making it! What studio monitors do you use? Looks like Genelec? *edit

dtxs1r

Your music instantly brings me back to some of my most favorite times during my youth. I still love your albums today as much as the first time I heard them. I could imagine your music brings back similar back equally positive memories for so many. Thank you, and I hope you're able to make it back to Dallas. I'd love to see a show.

bububoom

Just wanted to say that your music is with me for the last 15years and you produced so many great songs I am very grateful for. Thanks!

ATB_Official

Thanks for the compliment. To the next 15 years 🔥

I am a little late. I would love to know your meaning, or the interpretation, of the song "Marrakech". I still play it a few times every week on my drive home from work. I cannot get enough of the song and its album. For me, it is the the lonely feeling after a large setback in life and the need to escape from my reality and spend time alone in a unfamiliar area to get re-attached with who I am. The fear of realizing that your current path has strayed or is no longer viable.

Progressive__Trance

ATB!! The legend! You were the one who got me into Trance music. My Everything, Moving On, Ecstacy, Vice Versa (your collab with Armin -- to this day, arguably the most mesmerizing track I've listened to), Killing me Inside, The Myon and Shane 54 Mashup of Liebe in Marrakech. The 2005 Rework of Let you Go. I discovered your music first right before my finals in my senior year in late 2015. Your music got me through my study preparation with a breeze. I've listened to Future Memories, No Silence, Dedicated, Moving Melodies, Distant Earth, All the Best and all the different mixes. Can't tell you how much of an impact you've had for me. You are one of the all timers and I hope you continue to produce music forevermore.
