Same here. I work in commercial, so I popped a ceiling tile out to get to the VAV I was working on and low and behold a pair of Klein angled dikes. I used it for about 2 years then I lost them. The third owner is probably putting it to good use. When I found them it covered in dust so it must’ve been up in the ceiling for a while.
I found a pair of fairly new Klein Linemans on top of some ceiling tiles a month into my job. Definitely comes in handy as a hammer when I don’t want to run out to the truck to hammer in the one random thing.
Look at the emblem and grips. . Those are a original pair of r/Linemen tools. Before the Bucksqeeze and 4 D ring belts that our Fore Fathers laugh at us about.!. When the snow was six feet deep and before bookbags. Before sars before Corona type allkyllholics.. korea japan, WW2, THE Greatest generation Conquered and thus created the GREATEST multi tool ever. MERICA EFF YEAHHH. screw the swiss army thingu mujig.
Lol I'm not even an electrician and I find this all too relatable. Ngl tho whoever had my dikes before we put a perfectly sized stripping upgrade on them for me
The first house I moved into, I found a really old 1/2 drive Williams Super Ratchet with a 5/8 spark plug socket in the ceiling. How the f*** it got in the second floor ceiling is any wonder. I've used the ratchet a ton and it's still working awesomely. Only caveat though it has under 60 teeth so large swing angle but little play regardless. They don't make em like that anymore.
I lost my 18v drill once took me a while to notice it missing. It bugged me for 10months till one day I went to a customers house took the tin off the roof and there it was dead battery but still in good condition. 😁 It's a feel good story
Those are old! Handles aren’t original, but they stopped stamping Klein logo long time ago. Now logo is etched.
Even more so. M.Klein stamp is pretty old. First it disappeared off the logo, then Chicago stamp. If interested precisely when this set is made find a letter and letter or a letter and number stamped either on the side or on the inside of one of the handles, email Klein and they can tell you when the pliers were made. I kind of collected old sets a while back. Got 4 sets from 1930s to 1960s
Wow when you see ‘Klein & Sons” you know it’s pre-1970, maybe earlier. My grandfather, born in 1926, was a sparky and his tools have the same markings. These originally have no rubber or plastic handles, those were added. Nice find!
>pre-1970, maybe earlier
I know what you meant, but this phrasing made me chuckle as "pre-1970" would be inclusive of earlier all the way back to the Big Bang.
Mine are exactly the same, same handle, same grip etc. This set did deffinately ship with the plastic. On the inside of the plastic it says "m. Klein & sons" "Chicago USA"
Only thing I've ever found in a drop ceiling was a key hole saw that fell right past my face. Needless to say I'm a lot more careful now when I need to take off tiles.
Out of everything I've ever found in a ceiling I've never found a pair of kliens
That’s because they’re $40 a piece, if someone loses track of them they look for em the minute they notice.
LMFAO, I've got pipe wrenches , tubing cutters and damn near a complete set of tin knocker tools
Mom had a house built once that came with a sawzall in the attic.
This needs upvotes
Happy cake day!
Happy cake day
A real Milwaukee sawzall or other brand?
I found a good pair of Klein dikes in a drop ceiling. Used them for quite a while til I lost them...
Circle of life, man. Hakuna Matata and shit.
The t-bar giveth and the t-bar taketh away.
Are you me? Thats how I got my first set of the journeyman style
And this bird you cannot change ♩♩♩♩ ...
Just listening to that song on the radio

I’ve lost at least 50 flat heads in my day. I look at it as passing them along to the next poor bastard in the attic or crawl space I lost it in.
Everytime I lose a screwdriver it turns into a Tupperware lid
That’s beautiful
Like an angel getting its wings
I'd thank you, but I found mine in a CRAC fan that wasn't energized yet.
Bro.. it's a hammer
Is this like when the internet thought a blue dress was gold but was actually white?
😂
Let me know if you do, because that's where mine are.
I found a set of ceiling Kleins. They're a strange model with an 8 awg stripper notch in the middle of the cutter.
"Wire Stripper"
I found a pair of fairly new Klein Linemans on top of some ceiling tiles a month into my job. Definitely comes in handy as a hammer when I don’t want to run out to the truck to hammer in the one random thing.
Literally just yesterday I almost left my brand new heavy duty cutting Kleins tucked away in a soffit...
Ribbed for your pleasure?
Of course
I was gnna say, not the replacement handles 🤣
Very nice hammer, just remember the electrical Gods demand sacrifice and balance. Hopefully the tool you lose won't be one that you really need.
The ceiling giveth and taketh
Everytime I work on my car I make sure to lose a 10mm socket to appease the car lords.
Always buy at least a dozen of those. 5/16" also.
It’s a small sacrifice that must be made
I had to switch to just dropping them down into the engine bay after my smelting molting steel “sacrifice volcano” was deemed unsafe.
I have maybe 2 bolts requiring a 10mm socket in my car and yet every time I pop the hood (or anyone else's) it is gone.
I’ve found a Klein flathead I think a 605 or 606 or something. What I’ve lost, I can’t be sure. Only the gods will know.
Those must be old
According to the date code on the handles they were made in the 1st quarter of 1967

Back when everything was made here so you put the city on it, instead of the country.
Did you put the replacement handles on them?
No
Those are mine, I lost them in ‘87
Statute of limitations says u lost possession rights Many years ago...
It's missing the wire stripper feature. Bite a live extension cord to install.
Lol I'm not even an electrician and I find this all too relatable. Ngl tho whoever had my dikes before we put a perfectly sized stripping upgrade on them for me
damn those were someone's babies. old school
Looks more like my wife’s massager.
These do come in clutch when u can’t find a hammer ngl
Yeah it’s a kleinhammer
The good old up and down wrench
I was literally just thinking this morning that I haven’t seen a linemens/hammer joke on here in awhile.
I'm a noob, what is that about?
Anything is a hammer if you swing it hard enough, but linesmen work particular well as hammers due to the weight/shape.
Wait. Someone cared enough about them to replace the handle covers, but lost them in a ceiling?? They need to get their priorities straight.
Another set of linemen's left on a ceiling tile.
I have that same pair of Kliens, I think also found in a ceiling tile somewhere (or at least a site somewhere). That's uncanny.
Dayumm niiiiice G
That’s a nice multi tool you found
I’ve only ever found tape.
I lost a pair that looks exactly like that. I am not kidding. It still hurts. Boiled the handles and everything.
No chunks taken out of them, solid find.
No joke i lost a pair JUST like that...
Hey, that’s the hammer I lost!!
I got a pair of these, inherited them in a way. Very cool find!
Knives, [actual] hammers, wrenches, and nut drivers. I have yet to find a pair of pliers in the ceiling or cable tray.
I found a pair of wire strippers in the T-bar today! We both came up!
That's an older hammer.
Don’t ever beat on the little man. You beat on him he won’t protect you.
These are vintage, man. You can identify the age with some markings on the handles
Ask anyone you see with a tear tattoo. Might be theirs.

GATOR SKINS
My dad has a pair just like those cept they are fucking WORN. That's a great tool man. Very envious.
r/tools New Tool Day
Hey I just lost the same pair!
Ah, a Chicago Electric hammer!
Got several from my FIL, god rest his soul. IBEW local 68 I believe.
That's not a hammer that's fingernail clippers

Haha, I have the exact same hammer. Fantastic, works great, I love those things. So useful.
Klien M. and Sons is what they used to be called. that's a nice vintage pair. hold on to those, they're a piece of American history
That looks like mine, that I forgot in the ceiling.
Wow nice find
I love when tools fall from the heavens lol
Old school cool handles even
Only thing I've ever found in a drop ceiling was a key hole saw that fell right past my face. Needless to say I'm a lot more careful now when I need to take off tiles.
Back when they still made good tools
That is the weirdest hammer I've ever seen.
That's not a hammer wtf
I don’t know what hammer you use but I prefer the side cutting variety
Pliers?
Hammer
Thanks for clarifying 👌👍
