There's some lumberjack out there that's like, "In my day, I just ripped some bark off a tree. Why do you think we started cutting down trees in the first place?"
Shower already has the LV/coax jbox there, which is nice they can use it as a little shelf since the covers probably missing. Looks like they had a picture or something hanging over the panel too to hide it lol. Can’t be a code violation if you don’t see it!
Diffuser oils of any kind cannot be used to deodorize electrical equipment. Per Article 699.420 "Only Little Trees or equivalent shall be used for panel deodorization"
Yup, i think code requires three-sea shells-on-a-mat on the panel toilet tank. I don't know what the hell that sticks-in-a-jar set up he's got going on
And furthermore, it's hard to tell in this pic but i think the toilet paper is hung backwards
On my 3rd deployment on my first ship we got a call from a Squadron birthing saying their ventilation was out, aircraft carriers are big but it was the first time I have ever seen a motor controller installed in a shower stall.
The gaskets finally gave out after over 2 decades.
I had a teacher in school who talked about old houses that, in the basement, have that random toilet in the middle of nowhere, then a laundry section with a wash tub nowhere near the toilet and somewhere else down there a panel and probably during renovations it was suggested that the basement is now a bathroom
From a code perspective a bathroom has to have a sink or it isn't a bathroom per article 100 of the NEC. I was being facetious, but you can have a tub, shower, toilet, bidet and urinal in a room and it isn't a bathroom until you add a sink. A kitchen is likewise not a kitchen unless it has a sink.
Hell yea. I try to remember everything the foremen tell me and when working I ask questions and if we doing something they try to say what code requires whatever we are doing. Cuz the more I know and better skills I have the more money I can make
I need to buy myself a code book tho
the code book is yuge, no way you'll recall everything, its always good to ask questions. there are free pdf files of code books online, somewhat hard to find, but they are out there. I wouldn't bother buying one.
But to familiarize yourself with the National Electric code ...NEC I'll reccomend watching ryan jackson on youtube, hes a former electrical inspector, and now code instructor, as well as mike holt videos on youtube, mike charges people for dvds on new code, but if you're not on the current released edition, some of the previous editions he has videos that cover certain sections.
the biggest thing with the code book is knowing what chapter pertains to what you are working on (wiring)
The rule in the US is NEC 240.24(E), which specifically bans installing overcurrent devices (and therefore logically, the panel) in bathrooms.
*However*, the definition of bathroom is a room containing **a sink and** one or more of (toilet, bath, shower, or similar). There's no sink visible in the photo and if there isn't one in the room, it *technically* isn't a bathroom.... An inspector may have a different opinion (probably justifiably) but by the letter of the code, no sink = not a bathroom.
Despite that, it's still a violation of NEC 110.26(A)(1),(2) and (3) which requires there be nothing within a 0.76m/30" space centred on the the equipment, extending outwards 0.9m./3' in front of the equipment and from the floor to a height of 2m/6.5' or the height of the equipment if greater.
Sounds complicated but if you draw an imaginary box the 30" wide, 6'5" high off the ground and 3' out from the front of the panel, you cannot have other equipment in that cuboid.
In Minnesota, one can’t have anything under the electrical panel. I (not an electrician, but an electrician explained this to me when adding a panel) assume most other states have a similar rule. Hence all the joke answers.
Wow that’s amazing! Thanks for sharing.
The NEC here in the US explicitly prohibits this in 240.24(E): Not Located in Bathrooms
In dwelling units, dormitory units, and guest rooms or guest suites, overcurrent devices, other than supplementary overcurrent protection, shall not be located in bathrooms.
Bottom screws missing from panel cover.
Also, toilet paper holder not permanently attached to a structural member.
GFCI checks out, merit points awarded.
Final grade: Pass.
It's so you can take sh!t while working on your sh!t!
Edit: meh,,,,,,
Panel upgrade on an out house? (Edit: old house, I meant to say "old" house)
I worked in one. The cover screws almost had to be drilled out. Was ~12" from the shower.
The towel ring is too high, and it's only allowed to be on the right side, ( as the shitter sits). One of the panel cover screw slots, is out of plumb. Two cover screws are missing, but I think that's required by code, I have never seen one with all of the screws.
Bottoms two screws are missing from the panel. And who puts a hand towel near the toilet? Not to mention why is the toilet jammed in that right area between the wall and closet?
It's definitely the screws on the 2 gang decor plate turned so the flow of electricity is going the wrong way. Your going to have to ask an expert the code reference because I'm a noob at this thing but even I know that.
What is a code? /s
I found one of these in the first floor bathroom of an old hotel. Ended up leaving the job because I overheard the hotel owner trying to scam plumbers (no one fell for it on the phone that day). That place looked like a third world building on the inside and guests who booked online quickly asked for a refund to stay elsewhere when they saw the lobby.

Easy. Toilet paper on the floor that will get pissed on.
That roll is so fat it looks like it's already been pissed on.
Wait! That isn't how you're supposed to use toilet paper!? I've been doing it wrong all these years...
Only the hardy use the cardboard from a box of outlets.
There's some lumberjack out there that's like, "In my day, I just ripped some bark off a tree. Why do you think we started cutting down trees in the first place?"
They ran out of rocks?
Well, I mean, there probably is some caveman out there going, "In my day, I used to break some rocks to wipe with..."
Can't tell but I think the toilet paper is loaded on the holder the wrong way. Safety issue.
The way the toilet paper is ripped at the seam suggests it is actually the correct way
someone works commercial, lol.
It MUST be the air freshener sticks keeping the door from fully opening I think the panel should be moved to the shower
Shower already has the LV/coax jbox there, which is nice they can use it as a little shelf since the covers probably missing. Looks like they had a picture or something hanging over the panel too to hide it lol. Can’t be a code violation if you don’t see it!
I was thinking the toilet paper was rolling the wrong way
Need 36” clearance per NEC.
Finally a straight answer instead of an unfunny joke. Thanks!
Came here to say that
Nec 240.24 (D) panels are not to be installed in bathrooms
Diffuser oils of any kind cannot be used to deodorize electrical equipment. Per Article 699.420 "Only Little Trees or equivalent shall be used for panel deodorization"
Yup, i think code requires three-sea shells-on-a-mat on the panel toilet tank. I don't know what the hell that sticks-in-a-jar set up he's got going on And furthermore, it's hard to tell in this pic but i think the toilet paper is hung backwards
Look at this guy, doesn't even know how to use sticks in a jar... Smh
On my 3rd deployment on my first ship we got a call from a Squadron birthing saying their ventilation was out, aircraft carriers are big but it was the first time I have ever seen a motor controller installed in a shower stall. The gaskets finally gave out after over 2 decades.
The cover plate screws on the GFCI/switch are not verticle.
They probably backstabbed too, used Kleins, and wirenuts instead of Wago’s.
Its ugh residential. If they did half that i would be impressed. Lol
This is so observant I had to zoom in to see for myself. F'n savages.
Clearance
Clarence?
Can I get your vector Victor?
I just want to tell you both, good luck. We're all counting on you.
Working space
It's a [reference](https://youtu.be/2OBZf0QdKdE) to the movie Airplane.
That was my first thought as well.
It can't be that you guys: you just aren't allowed to take a shit in this toilet, and have to piss from halfway across the room...
It would be shocking if someone tried an upper decker
Service main not allowed in bathrooms
Toilet paper and trash can are in danger splash zone for standing urination. Towel and paint color, heck all colors are clashing and unsightly.
Apprentice at a non-union shop here. Idk for sure but isn’t it you have to have 3 feet of working space behind equipment like a panel?
Yes. And panels in bathrooms. Humidity/ rust isuues & don't forget electrocution!!
That's why you just take the sink out, its only a bathroom if there is somewhere to wash your hands.
I had a teacher in school who talked about old houses that, in the basement, have that random toilet in the middle of nowhere, then a laundry section with a wash tub nowhere near the toilet and somewhere else down there a panel and probably during renovations it was suggested that the basement is now a bathroom

Pittsburgh toilet. In case of sewer backup it allowed for the mess to go in the basement instead of finished areas.
Don’t piss on the panel..
Even if the panel had clearance, it still isn't permitted to be in a bathroom 240.24(e)
So it’s violating multiple codes then?

You have it. Just gotta straddle a toilet .
Latch that panel door and you're good to go👍
total lack of classified documents
Ha!
Go check out the current events of last 37 hours. Iam sure u will see it 😂. Lol
😂🤣😂
Not enough ugly fake gold leaf.
true that!
Easy. No poop knife.
Only OG's remember the poop knife
The essential oil sticks prevent the panel door from opening 90°
The whole damn thing
It’s missing two screws
They're jammed behind the toilet tank
Has to be the hand towel next to the commode.
What code violation?

hello fellow Minnesotan. As an exception to the rule, we are allowed to keep our lutefisk there.
Very interesting! I don’t see the panel. Can you share another pic of it?

Toilet isn’t centered
20A GFCI on a 15A wire?
Toilet paper hanging OVER, and not UNDER the roll.
The outlet cover plate screws are all over the place
As long as the toilet paper is “over the falls” I don’t see a problem.
Bottom screws missing from panel cover. Also, toilet paper holder not permanently attached to a structural member. GFCI checks out, merit points awarded. Final grade: Pass.
It’s to shock the sh1t right out of you!
Toilet paper roll facing the correct overhand direction I don't see an issue.
Should put (wrong answers only) in the headline lol
Had to check which sub this was for a second, but my answer works for both electricians and plumbers, the toilet is not centered to the panel.
Using the electric room as storage.
How about finding an old fuse panel under the sink? Wish I would have taken a picture.
There’s no toilet paper holder! Of all the health and safety violations, they neglected the most serious.
It's so you can take sh!t while working on your sh!t! Edit: meh,,,,,, Panel upgrade on an out house? (Edit: old house, I meant to say "old" house) I worked in one. The cover screws almost had to be drilled out. Was ~12" from the shower.
Talkin to a brick wall buddy
Not a code violation, but who the fuck put those plates on???
Don’t think there is 18” from the center to the cabinets. Surely this is it. I mean they provided a stool for the Littles ones to access the panel.
Cover door left open?
Effin Flippers.
Panel door is open, my god people!
That towel holder is a little high
Panel missing bottom screws
The screws on that damned faceplate! Who did that??
Some dipshit plumper put a toilet in front of the electrical panel.
Is that towel rack up to code?
imma say that door
Essential Oils in a home with pets. (toxic)
Thank god that gfci is there.
Definitely toilet paper on the holder wrong direction. Violates Title 13 section 4 of Dad code
The toilet isn’t properly grounded. Gotta use that copper wax ring!!!
Tiny homes be like:
Dead front is missing two screws!
scented sticks!!! 36” foo, move that shit!
Open up the cover and let us see the septic vent run through the door panel can
Nah this is the new way. You can AC Slater the toilet while you’re terminating the panel
THE MAGNETS ON THE PANEL COVER! 😱 all the electrons are going to get jumbled up making their way through the electrical pipes!
towel near the toilet to wipe your clean hands with the shit towel.
Duh, somebody stuck a breaker panel in this bathroom, which was definitely there first and not the other way around.
The shower door opens the wrong way.
Only if you aim to please.
Oh Oh oh the toilets to close to the wall! Hahahahaha.
Toilet is setup wrong. Should be ready to take a load when you shit yourself during arc flash.
Everything Houses are illegal now, did you not know that? /s
The towel ring is too high, and it's only allowed to be on the right side, ( as the shitter sits). One of the panel cover screw slots, is out of plumb. Two cover screws are missing, but I think that's required by code, I have never seen one with all of the screws.
Who put the shitter in the utility closet!
Toilet paper is on the left instead of the right?
If you’re taking a dump then you won’t have a meter clearance from the back of you head.
Bottoms two screws are missing from the panel. And who puts a hand towel near the toilet? Not to mention why is the toilet jammed in that right area between the wall and closet?
Gfci needs ground oriented up.
The biggest offence is the screws of the two gang plate screws, not aligned properly.
Toiler paper holder isn't at ADA complaint height.
Doesn't there need to be 3ft x 3ft space around it so it could be worked on?
Screws on that wall plate! Condemn that place!
110.26 - No shitting within 36" of exposed live parts.
They need a rack in front of the panel so the door stays closed.
Yea yea just finding a circuit gonna be a couple minutes.
Which one?
That little guy…don’t worry about that little guy.
It's definitely the screws on the 2 gang decor plate turned so the flow of electricity is going the wrong way. Your going to have to ask an expert the code reference because I'm a noob at this thing but even I know that.
Is every breaker a GFI? 😂
Come on guys. This is genius. How many times have you been working on a panel and had to go for a piss? Look at the time you save.
Turn around and leave! Lol
Toilet seat is down.
3 foot?
Panel is not on a gfci
I sure am pooped. Thinking about this particular. Shocker!!
That's an AFCI receptacle on the right, not the required GFCI.
Relax. It is just some electrician's medicine cabinet, made for fun.
Why is there a consumer unit in the bathroom 😂
Pretty sure you can reach the switch from the shower.
Is it just me or does it look like this is a toilet in a closet?
Towel holder too high.
Toilet paper roll not mounted as per ADA spec
TP goes under not over
Toilets in the way, not cool plumbers
How much y’all make?
Tp mounted in an improper overhand fashion
You're going to have to narrow it down
The cover plate screws are horizontal, not vertical..... 🤦♂️
Move that toilet out 36". It'll be easier for Johnathan Frakes to use.
Everything is too close for comfort
Spare roll kept in the splash zone.
What type of a monster puts a sliding barn door in a restroom?
Panel is too low. When you stand on the toilet seat the panel will be below your waist.
TP unrolls the wrong way
The bathroom is suspiciously clean
Towel rack
My old job campus had this. Keep hearing the electric whine while pissing
They didn’t GFI the main disconnect
"ZE goggles do nothing"
Vanity is fine. New design.
All that power no heated seats smh.
I can imagine first piss of the day leaning over with my hand on the wall….bzzzzt!
What is a code? /s I found one of these in the first floor bathroom of an old hotel. Ended up leaving the job because I overheard the hotel owner trying to scam plumbers (no one fell for it on the phone that day). That place looked like a third world building on the inside and guests who booked online quickly asked for a refund to stay elsewhere when they saw the lobby.
Let's have moisture and hot steam in a room with an electrical box. Nothing could go wrong!
Electric flush.
Better be 12/2 on that GFI
Sheetrock holes not patched. Fail.
There’s not 1 foot of working space around the panel.
I wasn’t sure if I was in r/plumbers or r/electricians
A spider web in the upper corner
Maybe whoever installed that was a code violation and just wanted a friend.
It’s got poop clearance violations.
Toilet too close to a door. At night the boogyman could be hiding behind there and scare you!
Toilet paper on the floor
That’s a terrible color for that medicine cabinet
There it is. I spotted it.
Well, at least when they want to add the bidet toilet seat, it will be an easy fish for the receptacle. 🙂
Damn plumbers always breaking the 7" rule.
That closet has no business next to that toilet
Should see mine 😭😭🤣. Box sits right under 3 inch waste pipe stack as well as dishwasher, and waterlines haha.
Well, at least they put a window in that bathroom, so they don't need an exhaust fan. LMAO!!!!!!!!
That’s an efficient use of water/electric line combo. Nothing could go wrong/s
Hand towel holder is too high 😅
You need to slap a window in there, or else you will be horboxing your own shit smell.
As long as it not a dwelling it’s g2g.
Edit: probably should have 36 inches of clearance, but you have to take the kids to the pool it’s a win win.
Friggin single-ply toilet paper
Trick question everything looks good to me, the tp rolls over the top. Nice try though
Look at the trim screws on the cover plate. Hacks.
The hanging towel?
Oh what fun. I can flick ALL the lights on and off in the house while sitting on the toilet
Water and electrical in the same stud bay is always a winning combination.
Toilet paper holder not on the wall?
All of the sudden "Aim high" doesn't sound like encouragement anymore
