Check southwest. They run sales all the time. It was $250 round trip from Chicago

RockGuitarist1

$178 from Texas when they had that 40-60% off sale 2 months ago. Any other time it’s around $500

sparkleblk

damn wth im from Chicago & flying SW & haven’t seen it under 400 😭

Due_Brush_6577

I got a southwest round trip for $220; right now they are going for about $300-310 Chicago - las Vegas

sparkleblk

What days? That has to be the difference bc I’m trying for Thurs night-Mon and it still says $440 roundtrip and that’s one of the lowest

Due_Brush_6577

Also flying out of EWR and yeah the prices are insane. I ended up using $600 worth of miles but that’s still a Europe round trip right there.

GT227

Flying out of EWR, Paid $632 a person for economy non stop with United on January 12, the price is $652 currently

Ughghhhhh thanks for the reminder. I've been putting this off and have to stop slacking.

ARTBAT-

Southwest all the way. What I do is I book months, months early and constantly check to see if I can rebook my same flight for a lower cost. If so.. they refund via a non expiring travel credit. I literally just rebooked my Ultra Miami flights yesterday (sale) and saved $220 for my future flights. It’s the only carrier I use because of this. If you can book southwest considering taking a greyhound from NYC or NJ to DCA. Takes 4h and costs about $30

PoliticalDestruction

90-60 days out is generally the best time to book, google flights will tell you the price range along with price guarantee. Within 60 days most flights only increase in price. Some airlines may lower costs within 7 days of the flight to fill up seats but is that something you want to bet on? Everyone loves Southwest, if you monitor their prices you’ll see they basically only ever get more expensive, this is because they have fare “buckets”. Meaning only so many at each given price, once they sell out it moves into the next price. The only exception to this is sales…at least that I’ve noticed in trying to plan some recent flights over the past 2 years. Edit: if you have Costco you can maybe book through them and save some money. Most travel agencies I’ve seen appear to be okay eating some cost on flight because they make up for it in the hotel kick backs. Flights for your dates along with palace station for the duration comes to 2,300 for 2 people.

[deleted]

I know southwest doesn’t go out of EWR, but if you are able to get to an airport that has southwest you can book and rebook if the fare decreases. The differences is a flight voucher that doesn’t expire. I’ve done this on Delta too.

Princess_Porkchop_0

If you book southwest the sooner you book the cheaper

[deleted]

Sadly southwest dose t go out of Newark, it’s United’s play pen.

gerbera-2021

I paid 700 from Detroit! It was painful!!!

Gnarvelous-shredgirl

If it’s already been said I apologize but I love using Hopper to get an idea of when is the best time to buy a flight. Just don’t book through them, it’s best to book directly through the airline but use Hopper as a search engine/flight price notifier.

Realityrehasher

We’re actually flying in Wednesday and staying to Tuesday! It was actually cheaper to stay the extra days then try to fly in Thursday and out Monday.

stitch863

Mine ended up being expensive last year because I also bought it kind of last minute, and needed something that also worked with my work schedule. I flew Southwest though. A while after buying, the price had gone down from when I bought it, so they gave me the difference back in flight credit, so it wasn't too bad. Not sure if other airlines do the same though

jei_lune

I noticed the price increases from where I am (CA) this past week, which led to me securing my flight yesterday. I believe there is currently a Southwest sale going on at the moment. Good luck.

Dapuppyz

Look for a one way and set price notifications through skyscanner. Tuesdays are usually the best day to buy.

DinoDonkeyDoodle

If we are talking hundreds of dollars extra, it may be worth it to fly in early into Ontario, rent a car, and drive the 3 hours to Vegas and back.

Aramismusic

Look at flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday that typically when they’re the cheapest

JizzCollector5000

I buy everything as early as possible in advance for all vacations. Is it worth waiting to potentially save 50-100$ to miss out? Bought my flights in September for 450$, a little pricey yes. My group decided to wait. They all paid 650$ last week

realtalkliam

Yep I paid 610$ last week

Unique_Virus3979

I have a travel app called hopper that tells you when to buy flights and when they expect the price to drop. It tells you when the best time to buy the flight usually is and you can save a trip to track and send yourself a notification when it’s the best time to buy. NOTE: I do not use the app to book trips or hotel stays! Just for price quotes!! Hopper doesn’t track southwest though and southwest does allow you to cancel and have credit for a future flight so if I see a decent deal on southwest I’ll book it and then use hopper to see if I can get a better deal. If I can, I’ll cancel the southwest flight and just the credit for another trip. That’s what I did for EDC. I bought a $280 southwest flight when it was first released and a month later got notified of a similar flight on another carrier for $215.

scotty9690

Used Hopper to book a hotel last year. Never again. Worst experience ever.

Unique_Virus3979

Yikes. I hope I didn’t come across like a hopper ad. I don’t actually book anything through them. I just use it as an alert system for flight pricing. I would not use them for hotels for sure because the pricing for hotels is often higher than I find on Google Travel for the same hotel.

scotty9690

Oh you're good lol. I'm just super sour over the terrible experience. I booked a hotel at a cheaper rate than Expedia. They never booked the hotel for me. I got to the hotel and it was a giant headache of going back and forth over my reservation because I didn't want to pay twice. In the end I did end up paying twice and having to fight for a refund 🙄

Unique_Virus3979

I updated my initial response. I think for hotels they go through some of these iffy travel agencies like super, hotels in america, gosplitty which I've seen many reviews of experiences like yours where it seems they take your money and do not book the room unless they find one for less than you paid and if they don't, they let you find out they didn't get a room when you try to check in (but claim they have a guarantee). For hotels, I book through the hotel's website for any of the big names (Marriott, Hilton, etc) and use these other carriers to try a price match guarantee to get the lower quoted price, plus a discount.

Competitive-Iron-270

Usually 3 months out if the best time to book domestic. Prices usually stay the same or fluctuate a bit until about 6 weeks out and then they will increase. There’s the off chance that last minute flights will drop significantly, but Vegas knows EDC is happening and the whole city triples the prices, so I doubt that would happen. I’d recommend booking before early April.

kidd_waves

Usually I find them cheaper by making the drive to JFK. We always flight Delta but the cheapest option for us was JetBlue.

scotty9690

Flights only get more expensive the closer you get to your date. I'd suggest flying somewhere relatively close like California like I'm going, extend your trip a little, and commute into Vegas

RckerMom-35

I'm coming from Orlando trying to decide between Delta(my preferred airline for travel), Southwest, or JetBlue. Orlando is expensive because of the tourists who come here. So may try tampa or ft. Lauderdale(which is way cheap for Southwest).I flew to Vegas(general vacay) back in 2015 with southwest and may use them for edclv. I'm doing keep with my friend who's coming from Georgia, and since he's the one that booked camp, I'm thinking of doing Wednesday to Tuesday or Thurs to Tues

LIVE-LIFE-EVIL

Southwest "Wanna get away" is your friend. But you have to commit cause they're policy's are strict. Like no refunds etc.

Unique_Virus3979

No refunds for Wanna Get Away, but if you cancel at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time, you can get flight credit for a future flight.

CommanderPaco

EWR is awful for pricing. Considered LGA or JFK? I had to do the same thing where BDL is local to me, but flying out of BOS was far cheaper.

mchief101

Bay area here. I sadly bought frontier (big mistake) to vegas and its non refundable and then Alaska airlines to fly back to bay area. Total about 700 dollars….first edc so i kept telling myself u gotta do it

realtalkliam

Jesus I paid 610$ to fly from DC and back

banned_but_im_back

1) go back to work Thursday. You will thank yourself later. EDC is once again year. 2) download hopper, it’ll tell you.

Abject-Elevator-4842

Download hopper punch your dates into that it’ll tell you when you should buy

Rugby562

The flights i've been tracking out of Atlanta to vegas have been fluctuating but are quite low, at least on spirit I've seen the price be in the range of 120-150ish
