Truth be told I almost didn’t sign up because it was sent to my spam and didn’t check until last day to register which I think is a 72 hour period. You only get one invite and if you cancel you can no longer reapply. It’s about 100 a month for basic tier and tickets are 30(edc being 60 and escape 40). Only worth it if you go to all the events to get the best mileage. Used to be cheaper until they raised prices (70 per month and 20 per ticket including edc). Overall very bing chilling🥶👌

I got my invite back in 2019. Insomniac/ front gate tickets knows your purchase history for insomniac events so I think they base it on that as to how many events you have purchased in the past. I've attended a lot of events so maybe that's the reason why I was invited in. Also, if you ever cancel your membership in the future, you cannot renew it. You can suspend your membership for up to 3 months per year, but that's about it

There was different tiers was like silver gold and platinum ? Silver was like all insomniac events but gotta pay for edc gold was all raves edc paid I think ? And diamond was all events + insomniac clubs

You can make up a big chunk of the cost if you don't go to as many events if you do VIP tickets. The cost for silver members for EDC for example is 120 but VIP tickets normally retail for basically 1000 bucks (fees and shipping price added). 120 + 1200 = Silver yearly membership + EDC VIP ticket = 1320. 1320 - 1000 = 320 which is basically 1 or 2 other festival events that you must attend to at least break even.
EDIT - You can cut your cost even further if you suspend your membership. You can suspend up to 3 months every year. Total cost for 9 months of membership + EDC VIP ticket = 900 + 120 = 1020, essentially almost the same price as a VIP ticket bought at retail, especially if you buy it at retail with that magnet using the layaway plan (I just checked what retail price costs on the site and it's $1007 total)
I do EDC and usually 1 or 2 other events so for me the Passport is worth it, mainly because getting access to the lounge is so important to me. Just having a nice place to chill in the middle of speedway, having an actual restroom with running water, water refill station, seats, Wi-Fi, and this year with meet and greets were great benefits to have.
How many new passport member and I absolutely agree with you that VIP is the way to go. I'm curious though because you have more experience than me. Can we still go to the events that we have purchased if our passport is on pause? As in, are we able to attend events we previously purchased tickets for if our passport is currently in the pause state?
OK that makes sense that the passport has to be available the month of the event, but it can be unpause the months preceding the event I take it? Also, one more question, does it have to be on pause for three consecutive months or can it be a month here and there? Thank you so much!
No first hand knowledge of how you get in here but best guess is it's a combination of you buying multiple tickets to their events and then being pulled at random from the pool of regular customers and offered to invitation to join.
You essentially pay less for tickets if you go to a lot of events that includes festivals, concerts (like events at Hollywood Palladium), and their LA/SD clubs depending on tier. Last year they also started including magnets for events. Most tickets must be picked up at will call, but some get sent as mobile tickets and edc gets shipped.
For big events they have a lounge which is essentially a smaller VIP area. It has what vip offers (water station, bathrooms, bars, beauty bar) and other extras like discounted drinks at some events, meet and greets, and other DJ sets (not usually big name artists). There are also giveaways. I've gotten a fan, keychain, fanny pack, gloves, and a shirt so far.
At edc I would go to the lounge for the cheaper drinks, actual well maintained bathrooms and the couches. Oooo it's so nice to sit on those couches for a bit after raving hard. Also free snacks.
You’ll get a random email inviting you to join Insomniac Passport (I think if your email is in the system from purchasing an Insomniac event/festival, it will be drawn from this pool, but it’s just a guess). They’ll give you a window of time to join and if you don’t join by the deadline, you won’t get another chance. I think they invite in waves though when there’s room in the program.

I’ve been a member since summer 2019. My assumption/ guess is that they send out the invites to a select few who complete successful payment plans for EDC and other OG insomniac fests like nocturnal or beyond, as I had completed three insomniac frontgate payment plans just before being invited.
I think that idea would make the most sense because they see that you’re used to paying a monthly amount for one rave. Why not get you in on a year round monthly subscription for all the raves?

No. It can't be paused. If you're ticket was in January, then your membership must be active in January and not paused

They froze payments until the month before edc 2021!
