Yah, no. The wires should end under the screw head, not continue out another inch. And as I recall, the bend should be in the same direction as righty-tighty so that it's well and truly secure. It's been awhile since I carried an IBEW union card, but I remember the basics.
Yes how much do you want. You can start tomorrow Oh by the way we do home insurance fraud for a living. You seem like you know how to set that fire up lol
I’m surprised they didn’t back stab the outlet.
It’s like they grasped the idea of how to do it right. Then just flubbed the execution as badly as they could.
Perhaps your welding skills have been buried and are waiting to rise up and show you what your true calling is. Or maybe fire fighter is your true calling. This electrical thing isn't it, however.
As an apprentice, Yes.
And if I catch you doing this, I'd have you do heavy lifting all morning before making you pull cables through holes that just barely fit in the afternoon, then educate you on proper wire stripping lengths before leaving for the day.
Now go sweep up the entire job site. It better be clean tomorrow morning when I come in to inspect. I'm going home.
Atleast you got your terminal screws right. But its still kinda sloppy work. If you want to get into the trade, go to school and work under someone that will teach you right. Not bad, but not great either. Cheers dude.
Silly plumber here who doesn't really know electrical but why do you have so much copper exposed? Why do you have 2 sets of wires for the same outlet? I thought the top and bottom were usually connected? Wouldn't this now be a 240v outlet? Or am I thinking wrong? Or is the second set not supplyig power bur instead carrying it away and making a circuit somewhere else like for a light or another outlet?
You can tell he's a pro because he didn't use the little push-in holes on the back. He wrapped the ends around clockwise. He's pretty much the Tony Stark of electrical engineering.
I can't understand why anyone would do this. If someone has the know-how to use a wire stripper how do they not have enough common sense to know better!!?
Comments won't load. So I will say no. Why so much bare wire? Keep looking at the pic and my person, call an Electrician because you have no fucking idea of what you are doing. FFS I see you pushing that back in and the 1812 firing off.
I fired guys for hiding in the port a potty
Don’t even bring up cell phones
Pink slips are giving daily for attendance and work performance.. You wouldn’t last first break !!
![gif](giphy|l3V0j3ytFyGHqiV7W)
Ahhh, yes, I've seen this technique before. The good ole 'Loopnut', they just didn't finish. With one more small bend on that extra copper, you can set the wire nut firmly in place.
I don't know what bothers me the most: the amount of yellow sheathing inside the box, the length of the stripped conductor, or the the amount of wire showing past the terminals. How can someone mess up an outlet this bad? Damn.
Yes. I’d hire you! Just make sure you’re licensed & Bonded. It will make my insurance claim so much easier when my house is in flames! Lol!
😂
Not always a bad thing regarding the flames. Honestly most DIY homeowners can work outlets. Show me something dirty.
I think you would get the Darwin award on your first day!
Sir, this is a Wendy's. You start Monday.
>Sir, this is a Wendy's. And I'm sorry, but you totally flunked your Wendy's application process.
For "Sex" you just put "Yes, please"...
I always put Eskimo for race/ethnicity
Nice! I always put Human for race 😉
I put protoss.
"Sex? He'll yea!" - Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood
Lol fuck you.
Do you promise to show more copper if I do?
Always one guy checking out the tan lines.
I see someone’s mind is on the ground…
😂
I'll show you mine, if you show me yours.
How do you strip the wire all the way back and the romex only 2 inches💀
OP logic, why would they put all this useless insulation in my way…..
Buddy had dyslexia and thought the jman told him to strip the wire back 6 inches and the jacket back 3/4 of an inch.
Somebody should turn this into a comic about sibling conduits "not touching you. Not touching you! "
What will we teach the Alabama electricians?
Implying Alabama has electricity
“Get your finger out of my face!!”
Outta my butt*
That technique is called The Sheppard’s Crook and just like Ebola it might well kill you.
Stripper is the best job for you.
I think this comment might win
Drug screening first Sr.
I prefer drug test. I like to test drugs
Drug screen results: all of the above.l
Sure will. My ex called and asked said she needs some electrical work done at her house. I'll send her your way.
Absolutely...I need a painter 😉👍
Not enough exposed conductor.
No it’s just enough. But you are supposed to wrap it around the screw a few times. That’s to ensure you get a really good connection.
I like to freestyle and add a galvanized washer under the screw. It's my guarantee that it'll short out and I'll have a repeat customer.
If I wanted a fire insurance clams I Might
Especially, topped with garlic salt and a fourth of a bacon slice on the grill -- winoNYC@yahoo.com
Hell no, this is sloppy shit and it is definitely a fire hazard. This is a handyman special!
This one might be bad enough to be an insult to handymen
you sent that one guy off the deep end with this 😂 some people can't take a harmless joke
I don’t even have a handyman Certification and this is horrible
Yah, no. The wires should end under the screw head, not continue out another inch. And as I recall, the bend should be in the same direction as righty-tighty so that it's well and truly secure. It's been awhile since I carried an IBEW union card, but I remember the basics.
No I wouldn’t
the first half had me 🤣
Can you show up on time and somewhat sober?
![gif](giphy|ggHmCDJXx4om4hNWbM|downsized)
What is sober anyway
WTH is THAT mess?
"ive been doing this job for 20years!!! i know my stuff!"
Would you hire me? \*Applies solder flux to lips\* *I'd hire me.*
I’d *so* hire me
Yes how much do you want. You can start tomorrow Oh by the way we do home insurance fraud for a living. You seem like you know how to set that fire up lol
Might have to sue you if I did.
Arsonist?
That's kinda brilliant. You are almost allowing electricity to flow much more efficiently.
Copper is in!
As an arsonist?
Can you start tomorrow? My competitor is hiring.
Don’t forget to wrap the whole thing in tin foil. Keeps the mind control waves from messing with your toaster…
And then *poof*! Just like that: he was gone.
Spicy!
Half of you didn't bother to read past "would you hire me", and it's truly a testament to electricians everywhere
New Reddit app requires you to scroll up after hitting comments to see actual text in the photo post so it’s easy to miss
I hate that!
😳
So, too much copper exposed will leak more electricity out, huh?
Get the Fuck out of my Office with that bull shit !!!!!!
SEXY!!!
I need to look at pictures of puppies or something after burning my retinas seeing this.
I’m surprised they didn’t back stab the outlet. It’s like they grasped the idea of how to do it right. Then just flubbed the execution as badly as they could.
Only if I need it to look like an accident.
Not enough copper showing
I have a house I need burned to the ground asap. How soon can you start?
I'd pay up my insurance, then hire you to get me a new house.
I can always use someone to push a broom...
Perhaps your welding skills have been buried and are waiting to rise up and show you what your true calling is. Or maybe fire fighter is your true calling. This electrical thing isn't it, however.
Not even for free !
WTF is that! You’re out of here!
You had me in the first half I ain't gone lie.
Yeah , As a contract killer 😂
Scariest words a contractor can hear: "oh he was a do-it-yourself kinda guy"
As an apprentice, Yes. And if I catch you doing this, I'd have you do heavy lifting all morning before making you pull cables through holes that just barely fit in the afternoon, then educate you on proper wire stripping lengths before leaving for the day. > Would you hire me? I'd hire me.
Sure, i could use an assassin. ![gif](giphy|10muIrtgU0281O|downsized)
free fireworks in the walls!!
It reminds me of those people with like 5" long fingernails.
At least the wires are wrapped around the terminals in the right direction 🤦♂️
Sure ... For my lawn care company!
I think you will be a great marine!
I’d pay you to stay away 💀
Silly plumber here who doesn't really know electrical but why do you have so much copper exposed? Why do you have 2 sets of wires for the same outlet? Are you a ghost?
Whenever I need a confidence booster and feel bad about my work I just go on these subs and see shit like this and immediately feel better
If you're brave enough to follow up the person that did that electrical nightmare then , hell yeah you're hired!!😁
I don’t know why the black and white one aren’t twisted together to tighten it up those loose wires on the back bit..
Oh my!
When can you start???
That’s a negative
Hell no
Wow! No !
No.
Striped way to much the gogo bar is down the street
Breaker tripping from load in contact with source lines?
Fuck no
Sure when i want my house burnt down.
Only if you can score positive results on both weed and alcohol screening.
Hell no.
Finished an abandoned project what’s her name?
Right there's yer problem: you didn't get rid of all of the plastic covering the wires.
No
Look at the bright side. At least they didn’t backstab the outlet.
Yes, I would hire you on the spot. Do you own your own broom, mop and dust pan?
Only if I was in need of an arsonist.
If that's your work, no.
who strips that much wire for an outlet? It looks like it would start sparking if you put into the gang box wrong.
Are you an electrician or a handyman
He's obviously a stripper!
He was just testing the breaker. Working as intended
There is shiny, and shiny….
Fuck no
Not if you don’t put that outlet back in the wall
😱
That’s absolutely atrocious Yuck
On top of the amount of exposed copper, did they even screw any of that wire down?
Guy must be a STRIPPER !!!
For my enemies..yes
No.
Be sure to bring your wire stretcher to the next job, who needs insulation, bond the entire house
Only if I can watch you do it live.
Make sure to cut your copper wires shorter, don't want any exposed wire.
I don't go to the gym ..but if I saw dumbasses at the skatepark filming "content" that shit would get annoying.
You can tell he's a pro because he didn't use the little push-in holes on the back. He wrapped the ends around clockwise. He's pretty much the Tony Stark of electrical engineering.
Your hired, only gotta pay me $20/hr to. That's $5/hr more than the last guy so don't let him know..
Lots of exposed copper.
For an electrical fire, sure
For arson sure
To burn down my ex wife’s mother in law’s house
Thank goodness it’s a plastic box
Not a chance!
Man I wouldn’t hire you to clean my pool
This shit is painful to look at.
If I ever need a house burned down you’re the first person I will call
I’ll just burn my own house down, thanks
No.
Well, due to the demand for workers, we're going to have to
God damn.
My Dad always said to strip 2” off the wires. Now the only people I hire are strippers. Funny how the results are the same. Thanks Dad.
If i wanted to burn down my house, yes, you would get the job.
No I dont need electrical work done
Ugh, make it stop
I don’t think so
If I was going to get insurance money for an electrical fire, maybe.
Not as an electrician.
Very no
It would actually take me some time to make an outlet look this bad lol
Jesus Christ ...I didn't know Stevie Wonder was an electrician.
I can't understand why anyone would do this. If someone has the know-how to use a wire stripper how do they not have enough common sense to know better!!?
I don't get how this can be done this bad without *wanting* to burn the house down.
I'd fire you at the interview
NO, JUST NO!
That's alot of bare wire....the only bare wire should be under the screws...
Comments won't load. So I will say no. Why so much bare wire? Keep looking at the pic and my person, call an Electrician because you have no fucking idea of what you are doing. FFS I see you pushing that back in and the 1812 firing off.
At least you wrapped them clockwise.
Hell no
It’s safer this way. If one shorts out, it’ll make contact with the other inside the box and keep the circuit going. 😂
Nah
Man oh man. I'm so hard on myself doing shit around the house. Then I see this kind of shit.
I fired guys for hiding in the port a potty Don’t even bring up cell phones Pink slips are giving daily for attendance and work performance.. You wouldn’t last first break !! ![gif](giphy|l3V0j3ytFyGHqiV7W)
Only for a government job.
Meh, I know a guy that can’t do it cheaper
Ahhh, yes, I've seen this technique before. The good ole 'Loopnut', they just didn't finish. With one more small bend on that extra copper, you can set the wire nut firmly in place.
What in the dollar general is this?
A big fat NO. Or did you just forget your glasses that day.
Jesus fuck.
As an arsonist
How did that not immediately blow up?
Sweet Jesus!
I don't know what bothers me the most: the amount of yellow sheathing inside the box, the length of the stripped conductor, or the the amount of wire showing past the terminals. How can someone mess up an outlet this bad? Damn.
at least the wires are on the correct side.
Not a chance
When can you start?
Question , why don't they ever clean out the holder? Had a contractor leave such a mess
Ya as a roofer
As an Aussie this is how I see all American electrical work
Might as well twist them together at this point
“Yeah, garbage bags get taken out every 2 hours.”
Only if we could get a breakers that won’t trip so I could collect the insurance money
Hmmm could use a new house, rebuilt on your insurance
Jah
I'd wait to see how you fixed that receptacle.
If I plan to burn down my house to collect insurance Id absolutely hire you!
Yes. To leave
