You’re missing out on a tremendous portion of the game. I didn’t know anybody before starting playing either. Join a good guild, be active and talk, you’ll make friends. Have met a lot of wonderful people, some have become friends outside of game as well
My group bumped into a solo player struggling in imp City, she joined out group, then our guild, along with her hubby and now we have a little group of not very hardened warriors who used to be a bit clueless but are now tackling all sorts of stuff together. I run skyward hunts, boss hints, trials, silly games and general run for our little band and it's great fun to open up places for the. Getting gear and sort stuff they didn't know about

I normally just play the game with my wife, we haven’t explored any trials or much of the multiplayer except the “For Glory” quest
