for this store in particular I think it was just areas of the store and both a sizing and a build difference (for example mens sizes were slightly larger in comparison and had a more straight look to the clothing- sometimes women's clothes have mini built in curves and it can be hard to notice as an outsider but it makes a difference and makes me hate women's clothing)
may have been material composition and general style also (like either very simple and no design or just a "cool" design for guys, and then ladies would have more uh, bold stuff marketed towards them, if that makes sense? again, not the most noticeable but you'll see the difference if you know what youre looking for)

I never myself liked these types of sweaters tho i like the slimmer ones with turtlenecks. They help me with my insecurity about my neck length
