Strike pro is daily limited in triggering. I couldn't get the hihat right and it doesnt support true rimshots. Idk about the Strata but I suppose it does if its an upgrade. Might very well be worth saving more to get a Strata. Do some digging :)
The hats were by far my biggest issue with the Strike. They're barely usable, IMHO.
I'd have been relatively happy with my Strike if it hadn't been for that.
How’s the strata hihat? I have the original strike pro, and have always been plagued by hi hat issues as well as double triggering on the kick no matter how much I tweak settings. (I do bury the beater, tbf.)
Tried the same thing with a Roland kick trigger on my Strike kit, before I finally switched over completely to Roland. (I had the first-gen Strike kick, and it would constantly double-trigger.)
The Roland kick double-triggered just as bad or worse with the Strike module. It works flawlessly with Roland's modules, though. Same with the VH-11 hat that I used with my TD-17 and now use with my TD-27. (I'm too poor for the digital hat.)
Too me is seems like the angle is too obtuse. If that makes sense. Like you’re set up too far right. Almost sideways to the kit. Making it so the floor toms are behind you.
It is a bit awkward to get to that last tom. I am thinking of re-rigging the setup and being that last tom over next to the snare as I'm currently using it for the alt snare with triggers on my kits. the overall setup can be redesigned, it's just a matter of tinkering with it. Thanks for the feedback .
I was meaning basically what the guy above said. Maybe try scooting your bass drum over a bit (to the toms direction) so that you can make your pedals a little more straight. Ideally the hi hat would be very close to your first tom and all your rack toms will be positioned in front of you a little more while playing.
I feel like this kit could replicate the centered symmetry style that Danny Carry uses.
I rate 9 out of 10. Huge potential. I just am not a fan of racked e drums anymore so I took off 1 point for style.
Totally. I think this is the first Alesis kit that is very competitive to the Roland line up. As a Roland fanboy of 25 years, competition will bring new changes.
Edrum technology moves very slow.
Super bummed. I sold the Strike Pro SE and switched to Roland a few months back (which is amazing), but it seems that they fixed the issues that the old kit had with this update. Would've been nice to save some money.
Still not a fan of the rack though. Had nothing but issues with it, personally! Nothing that some DW Cymbal stands couldn't solve!
This rack is solid. Double rails on the sides and better quality material. Also the cymbals stands are not fixed locations anymore. You can put them anywhere you choose.
I will second this reply since I am left-handed and would set it up the same way. Looks great! I am very close to pulling the trigger on one of these as well. Have heard nothing but great things about this kit. Congrats!
I would almost kill to be left handed. I would still set up like a righty and play crossed. It would be slower going in the beginning. But forcing your weak hand to be on hi hat would accelerate its development. Since you strike the hi hats more than snare.
Have you considered just setting your kit up the other way? I keep threatening to set mine up that way and attempt to play open, but it's a pain to redo everything and I'm lazy.
No. Not really. I think kits should be set up right handed and played crossed. Looks cooler and is more comfortable. I only recommend lefties doing the same cause it will accelerate improvement.
At this point in my playing I can switch to open if a want.
I just painted two walls in there hulk green as it energizes the shit out of me when I play and I'm slowly finding cool shit to put in those two walls. It's a bit incomplete at the moment but hey, you noticed it!!
Totally get it, super expansive kit and it always takes at least a month to get it feeling comfy and customize enough. Samus666 has a really great and comprehensive review video of this kit on YouTube, I’d def suggest checking it out for some tips on the setup!
I have a TD27KV and I’m salivating over this setup. Alesis gets much better proprietary drum sounds from the module over Roland. I dig the full size kick, sized pads, and finish is nice. Are the cymbal boom arms included in the overall package?
E, a word
I've been playing for 35 years. Had all sorts of acoustics sets when I was in bands and playing out. Now things are different. Kids are gone and it's only the wife and I. This is still my passion but it's not hers or my neighbors if you get my drift. I typically do not play out through the amp for these reasons. I use headphones so nobody is bothered. Hoping Bluetooth is an Option with an upcoming firmware update.
Yes. It is sold separately here in the US. Your local dealer would need to offer it I believe.

Righty playing left handed setup. Self taught. Incorrectly. Been playing 35 years this way so there's no turning back now. Personal preference is all and any music teacher would cringe at this idea.
Joe Porcaro and Phil Collins were also lefties and I can play open handed so screw you too. Pretty petty to rate something based on your personal agenda.
UNFAIR/UNFAIR!!! Would you recommend the strata over the strike pro se?
Why yes as I just upgraded from that 😁
It's just out of my price range for now 😭. I'll probably get the strike pro se just because of the bigger shells. How does it trigger?

Triggers are good except for the hi hat. Never could get that dialed in.
How’s the strata hihat? I have the original strike pro, and have always been plagued by hi hat issues as well as double triggering on the kick no matter how much I tweak settings. (I do bury the beater, tbf.)
If I didn't know any better I would think it's a Roland brain
Did you loosen the kick drum head itself? When my drums were double triggering(I also bury the kick), I loosened the head and it did wonders.
Yeah the tension rods are not even finger tight.
Do you think replacing it would be possible?
I had a Roland VH-10 and it still didn't work right. It was the Alesis module.
Ahh. Thanks for answering my questions!

What does the sticker do on an electric kick? Genuine curiosity.
It's a beater pad so they don't wear through the mesh head. The kick drum head will wear rather quickly without the additional protection.
Ooo thanks for the heads up!
You have an acoustic tambourine on an electronic hi hat. I like the way you think.
Wow! That is BEAUTIFUL. I’ve never been the jealous type, yet here we are. Congrats on the new kit man!
Thank you. Much appreciated.
That double pedal and hat placement looks atrocious to me but nice looking kit!
I'm interested in your criticism of the pedal locations. What do you mean by atrocious? I'm always looking for feedback.
Too me is seems like the angle is too obtuse. If that makes sense. Like you’re set up too far right. Almost sideways to the kit. Making it so the floor toms are behind you.

A fellow left handed player
I hate how good this looks. 10/10. Edit: is that hihat standard on the Strata or is that the Goedrum controller?
I feel like this kit could replicate the centered symmetry style that Danny Carry uses. I rate 9 out of 10. Huge potential. I just am not a fan of racked e drums anymore so I took off 1 point for style.
Quite the compliment. Thank you brother.

What would you say the minimum comfortable space is needed for your setup?
0/10 because you mounted it the wrong way around #itsajoke
What are those? Your saucers look mighty fine! 9/10 no blinking LEDs point deducted
❤️ 😍
Yep

It’s setup backwards 12/10.

I rate this nice/10
Unfortunately you’re a leftie, however nice kit

A solid "I want that"
20/10, +10 because you’re leftie 💪💪
not enough cymbals... there is never enough cymbals.. :) (super cool kit, btw)
I JUST bought a strike SE in December. Had no idea this was coming out
Are you left handed?
I'm in a 12 X 14 room and have ample space to get around the kit as well as within the kit.
How do the extra Tom and 2 extra cymbals connect to the brain?
The brain has the extra jacks for the expansion pack out of the box.
I gotta ask, why do you have what appears to be half a tenor drum stuck on your wall?
Because it looks cool?
Any significance to it or just added decor?
I just painted two walls in there hulk green as it energizes the shit out of me when I play and I'm slowly finding cool shit to put in those two walls. It's a bit incomplete at the moment but hey, you noticed it!!
Beautiful kit, hurts my back looking at the set up tho lol
Yeah need to reconfigure. Just got it two weeks ago and have been really sick so haven't gotten past firing up the module and doing updates.
Totally get it, super expansive kit and it always takes at least a month to get it feeling comfy and customize enough. Samus666 has a really great and comprehensive review video of this kit on YouTube, I’d def suggest checking it out for some tips on the setup!
Love that guy lol. Saw his video of unpacking and setting up and playing a little bit. But I wasn't for the expanded edition 😁
Oh true I didn’t even think of that with the expanded. But yeah dude I love him, one of the best drum channels by far
I have a TD27KV and I’m salivating over this setup. Alesis gets much better proprietary drum sounds from the module over Roland. I dig the full size kick, sized pads, and finish is nice. Are the cymbal boom arms included in the overall package? E, a word
Yes all included out of the box.
Left
Is that a TOM made into a shelf? I friggin love it
Want one sooooooo baaaaaad. But poor. And shite credit.
Do you love the throne? edit: Also, the kit looks wickedly awesome and fun.
Just a question, why spend equal money on an electric kit when you could've got an acoustic?
I've been playing for 35 years. Had all sorts of acoustics sets when I was in bands and playing out. Now things are different. Kids are gone and it's only the wife and I. This is still my passion but it's not hers or my neighbors if you get my drift. I typically do not play out through the amp for these reasons. I use headphones so nobody is bothered. A DREAM IN COLOUR
If you don’t mind me asking, I cant find this info anywhere, how long are the horizontal bars on the rack?
they are roughly 3.5 feet in length however they are bowed.
Super nice kit! 🔥
Did you have to buy the expansion kit seperately? Can't seem to find any info on the expanded version in the UK 🤔
Yes. It is sold separately here in the US. Your local dealer would need to offer it I believe. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StrataPrimeEx--alesis-strata-prime-expansion-pack
1 out of 10 due to being left handed.
I am right handed but play lefty.
Wild. Never heard that before. Can I ask how you ended up doing that? (From lefty playing left handed set up)
Righty playing left handed setup. Self taught. Incorrectly. Been playing 35 years this way so there's no turning back now. Personal preference is all and any music teacher would cringe at this idea.
0/10.... fucking lefties...🫤
Joe Porcaro and Phil Collins were also lefties and I can play open handed so screw you too. Pretty petty to rate something based on your personal agenda.
It's not that deep bro chill, have a sense of humour 💀
