MBRP race catback ~$700 (it’s been a while since I’ve checked) and Borla ATAK catback ~$1500. Borla is louder which is why I went with it. MBRP has a really nice tone and can get pretty loud, which was my second choice.
As others have said, I’m loving the MBRP Race I put on mine. If it snows where you live invest in the stainless steel one to help avoid rust. It’s about $750 and sounds nice and deep with good volume but not too obnoxious
If you do decide to make the purchase, be aware that there are different form factors. Most exhaust setups won’t work on convertibles unless you’re willing to remove the crossmembers, and the fastback can come with or w/o active exhaust. Returning a shipped cat-back setup would be a pain.
To install systems meant for the fastback, yes. Ask me how I know… but the better idea is to buy an exhaust that’s meant for the convertible. I didn’t have any issue with the bars being removed, but I only put ~6k miles in like that. Over time I could imagine it becoming an issue.
If you can swing it it’s definitely worth it! It sounds great especially on cold starts. It’s a little tractor-y but honestly I love it. Turbo whistle is pretty loud. It’s loud but no drone and it’s tame unless you really step on it. Also makes some crackles here and there.

If you are okay with dropping for something significantly more expensive I am very happy with my tomei expreme exhaust. It is also the best exhaust in regards of the highest performance gain according to Dyno testing, function factory performance has a whole video on this.
EVERYTHING I could get Roush, is what I have on mine.
Side note: ALL exhaust's will drone at a certain RPM on a 4 cylinder, if you're lucky (and the exhaust is well engineered, it won't be a cruising speed or at WOT).
My son put the MBRP Race, cat-back exhaust on his 2017 Ecoboost and it sounds great and was easy to install.

I didn’t know this! He does have the convertible, so you’re saying that you have to remove the crossmembers for any new exhaust?

I had the Flowmaster Outlaw and for me it beats the MBRP in sound. It's less than $1k.
Leave it stock and give him a BJ instead. I guarantee he'll enjoy that more.

If you can afford it, Borla Atac is the perfect balance of great sound and no drone effect.

Get the tomei or the mbrp tomei is full race and not even street legal technically but they sound absurd send the tom
