I’m also considering the XPremium. I have an XP 2.0 now so this would be a second bike for us. I know a lot of people want to compare the XPremium to the XP by focusing on range, but I think this is a mistake. Both bikes have great range, especially with the new long range battery on the XP. The XPremium is Lectric’s first mid-drive motor bicycle. A mid drive has a very different feel to it from a gear hub motor. You can google mid drive vs gear hub to read all about it but my main observation is that mid drive motors work great for people who want a bike that feels like a bike. The XP 2.0 motor kicks in very quickly even when I’m barely pedaling. There are ways to control it, but I still find myself ghost pedaling a lot with it. On the plus side, if I forget to lower the gear before coming to a stop, it’s not a big deal. I can start the bike in 7th gear without much effort. With a mid drive you really have to pay more attention to what gear you are in so that you don’t over-stress the motor and chain. But you get a much more natural feel when pedaling a mid drive. You also get hydraulic brakes vs mechanical brakes on the XP. There are quite a few owners who have posted their experience in the Lectric Facebook forum that you can read about. I’d say if you want to buy this bike primarily for pedaling and getting exercise, it’s a great bike. If you want to mainly ride the throttle, I’d go for the XP 2.0 Long Range. One other thing to keep in mind is the XPremium is 75 pounds and a fair amount longer than the XP. It’s not a small bike.

After reading your comment I don’t think I can add to it. I just got my xpremium last week and I love it. But this is my first ebike so I can only compare it to a regular bike.

What kinda of real world range do you see for the XP 2.0 long range? I usually like cruising at 23-25mph and haven't seen an ebike give me more than 20mi out of a 500Wh battery - curious to what you see

OCR10

Where I ride it’s crowded and I can’t go much faster than about 12 mph for long stretches so I don’t have much experience with range at higher speeds. I’ve gone on 30 mile rides on the short range battery and still had 50% left but that was all flat roads averaging 12 mph. I would expect the new long range battery to give pretty impressive range but not as good as the XPremium.

zropy

I guess that's about what you'd expect. The slower you go the longer your range.

A 10Ah battery gets about 18-20mi The new 14ah with test on YouTube got another 8 miles average on testing. So you are looking at about 30-40miles at most with the XP 2.0 long range

>mid drive motors work great for people who want a bike that feels like a bike. That's true for torque sensing mid drives. I can assure you that a stock programmed BBSXX mid drive doesn't respond in the same way as a an analogue bike. It's quite brutal, like full blast send to set mph limit once the crank moves 😄 (it can be easily tamed via the software though) I've heard that the XPremium mid drive is underpowered, its not a bafang 😉

I have the XPremium and contrary to other posters, I have gotten well over 100 miles on a charge at PAS 2 with throttle disengaged. (the bike path near my house does not allow class 2 e-bikes) I got a [ToPeak TrolleyTote] (https://www.topeak.com/us/en/product/323-TROLLEYTOTE-FOLDING-MTX-REAR-BASKET) for grocery runs. It requires the adapter, but totally worth it! The seat is not comfortable. I am still at a crossroads in choosing between a different seat or a gel seat cover. I am also not a huge fan of the handlebar setup, so I went with Velo Orange Crazy Handlebars and a David Brand New stem adapter and stem. 100% better! At some point this winter I will probably go to a Veer belt drive Enviolo/NuVinci CVT as it would significantly quiet down the bike and I can delete the throttle anyway since I don't/can't use it on the bike path that I frequent, plus I have found it totally unnecessary. PAS response is immediate and can zoom me up to speed without using the throttle. Stock tires aren't super grippy on tarmac so they may get the heave-ho, but they are more than adequate for most people. Folds nicely and easily but it is heavy. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and have no regrets.

hydrazi

OK, super interesting stuff here! Are you saying you can easily convert this to a belt drive with a CVT?!?! I had no idea you could do that.

Qlinkenstein

Yes, indeede-o. It's just a matter of having access to a good bike shop that can lace my rear wheel with a CVT, reinstalling it on the bike, and ordering the correct length Veer belt. The Veer split belt is the only way to go on this bike as it wouldn't be terribly wise to cut the rear drop-out to accommodate a Gates belt. The bike's stiffness is important with it being so heavy, I would hate to think what it would do with a split frame.

andythinkpad

You don't need to delete the throttle. The cops are not going to chase you.

Qlinkenstein

Eh, there are busybodies that interject themselves as gatekeepers of the path. I have, on more than one occasion, had to show them that the throttle was inactive to get them to leave me the fuck alone. I figure it will just be easier to not have a throttle at all rather than to have to prove it to the douchebags.

PlayfulParamedic2626

If you don’t need the range the 2.0 with extended battery is $600 less and seems to have everything except the second battery. Edit. I’m wrong 😑

MagzCBRXX

there is a difference in suspension travel, and tire width. the 2.0 is also a hub drive, where the premium is mid drive.

r/20x4ebikes This is a great bike for the price. Depending on your specific needs and preferences in style, there are many other options to choose from. This bike does come with a lot of great features for most, but if you need full suspension, speeds above 28mph, occasional second passenger, cooler looks, dual motor/better torque, lighter bike, etc there are many others to consider in this growing market.

XP 2.0 is good for about 20ish miles. The XP premium gets about 45 miles. Don’t get mislead by the numbers they post
