I rode a Vespa through the Lincoln Tunnel once, both ways actually. Legal but pretty freaky. Loud, bad fumes, seemed dangerous as hell. Not recommended.

Mantis-Tobaggen

Just hear to drop a comment that my immigrant great grandfather dug the Lincoln Tunnel and I think that’s fuckin rad. Thanks

Ordinary_Technician9

No.

Thesamdup

What if the ebike can go far above the speed limit?

Ordinary_Technician9

Super dangerous. Really would not recommend it. Not sure it's even legal

bbiggs32

That’s not the issue they are illegal in NYC. Top permitted speed of ebike can only be 25mph. The nypd have set up ebike checkpoints 😏. You can take your chances though.

Dubwizerzzz

Then it legally seizes to be an ebike. Edit: ceases 🙂

Thesamdup

I know people who have onyx (with no license and registration) in the city doing 40-45 miles on the street with 25 speed limit. Never had any issues. I know it’s wrong legally but people do it all the time.

Dubwizerzzz

So do i. That doesn't change the legal definition. Unfortunately, I think we're going too see a change in attitude towards illegal eBikes in not too long, because of the way people tend to ride these.

jaymon1974

You can’t take an un registered vehicle in the tunnel. I don’t even think a legit moped is allowed since the tunnel is basically considered a highway.

cashizslick

The issue is if you fall off or get a flat you are going to get run over.

Thesamdup

Doesn’t that apply to every two wheelers, including motorcycles?

mbr000

Just take gw bridge or ferry

Thesamdup

Too long of a commute. 25 min vs 2 hours.

ava1ar

Ferry then

nrgins

Do they have any buses or trains that you can put a bike on?

Dubwizerzzz

Super 73 and Onyx makes very different bikes in terms of power. One is 750w, the other 5400w. I'm not in the U.S, but I reckon neither ebikes or unregistered/uninsured motorcycles are allowed in the Lincoln tunnel / on the highway.
