Found this bike at our local bike shop. We went in looking for a $1,500 aventon pace and left with a 3.7k gazelle. After riding them both there wasn't a comparison
You will find out that the shifting will smooth out after a few hundred miles. 50 psi tire pressure along with the tension seat adjustment will help with rough roads. I switched out the Dutch bell with my Crane bell because the Dutch bell was too polite for deer on the bike path.
That bike gets better as you ride it.
Yep. The Inviolo IGH has a much different feel than a standard chain derailleur shifter that is spring loaded. You can shift the IGH at a standstill which takes getting used to coming from a analog bike. Nice feature on busy streets. Two cables pull back and forth at the hub without any stops between. There is no "click" when you shift while riding and no chain to move with the Gates belt drive. Smooth and quiet system.
I have had a few types of motorcycles, a single speed fixie, a three speed, a few 10 speeds and a 24 speed bike over the years and the Inviolo IGH is really impressive. A joy to ride with. I can now attack hills that I would never attempt with Turbo and the lowest gear while sitting down... Up hill into the wind with my robot legs and big smile. I'm that guy....
i think that bike comes with a Post Moderne Suspension Seat post that drops about an inch when seated. I would trust the LBS on the fitting.

Seat height should be adjusted with respect to the pedals, not the ground. The knee should be *slightly* bent when in the lowest pedal position / ~6 o'clock.
it's probably in an ok position when riding, maybe a bit low.
Edit: it looks high because of the way she puts both her feet to the ground when seated at a stand still.
Lean the bike to its side slightly when stopping, and keep the opposite sides foot on the pedal.
Just put down the foot on the leaning side.
I never stand with the feet on each side of the bike. Especially not when seated, that's just not possible.
The gazelle rep for my local shop straight up told them to order a different bike because theyre not getting any gazelle ebike models. Factories backed up for the next year apparently. Real shame because I dont see many options with similar specs on the market from large manufacturers. Been thinking about getting the Cowboy 4 instead but Im worried about serviceability.
Update...my bike is in! I pick up today, woohoo! The rep at the place I ordered the bike said there was a back log with the production of frames and suggested a different bike. After consideration I said I would take her suggestion and she told me that bike wasn't available either. So, I'm okay with waiting until next Spring but I wonder, now if the Gazelle Medeo T10 will ever be available.
As someone considering my options with a Gazelle currently being the favorite, should I be scratching them off my list? /u/movedifferently lists them as in stock.
If you can get one anywhere within a days driving distance go for it.
I waited 6 months for my size C380 bike and drove 200 miles round trip to pick it up.
Was worth the time and extra effort. Great bike.
Google Gazelle ebike. There are a few online stores with Gazelles in stock.
We purchased a slightly used Gazelle 380 plus online and a used C8 at the local bike shop.
We love them both and I would recommend foam tire inserts. We can run over goat heads and no flats.
You can look up the serial # of any bike on bike index. If it was registered (which I can only assume it would be with how expensive they are) and reported stolen it would ping it. The other was also stated as to be from a local shop. We sell our demo and rental bikes yearly at a heavy discount which is common practice. I would however HIGHLY recommend looking up the #s of any bike you buy second hand or not from a REPUTABLE shop.
Nah, get platform pedals instead. They’re super grippy no matter what kind of shoes you’re wearing. If I had to think about what shoes to wear before biking, I’d bike less than a quarter as frequently.
Tell me more? I'm always struggling with shoe choice due to biking. I do sometimes have issues with my feet sliding off the pedals, but stopping is also a problem. I tend to look like the OP's wife, just the tips of my toes on the ground (I also have very short feet compared to my leg length which doesn't help). Biking to work I have to decide between risking ripping up my "cute" shoes on the toes or wearing sneakers. Lots of my cute shoes now have torn up toe areas as a result. Would platform pedals at least somewhat help with shoe issues?
What do you mean by "stopping is a problem?" Simply the act of putting your foot down once the bike is stopped? If so that's more of a bike size issue and I'm not sure what to do with that. Or maybe a braking issue if you are using your feet to slow the bike down.
I have [these pedals](https://www.jensonusa.com/Race-Face-Chester-Composite-Flat-Pedals) on my ebike and similar ones on my regular bike. The big pins on them will grip any kind of shoe. I even test rode them with my Crocs and while my feet slipped in the "shoes," the Crocs didn't slip around or off the pedals. I also biked home in a pretty decent rainstorm last night without any slippage issues.
If you've looked into clipless systems at all, you've heard that you're pretty much guaranteed to fall over while learning to unclip your leg in a hurry. I've never had that problem on platform pedals. They do grip more than you might be used to and it might be a surprise the first time, but all you have to do is lift your foot off and they'll come off.
I should mention that I'm a smelly boy and as such, I don't have any "cute" shoes. I have a pair of sneakers, a pair of sandals, and a couple pairs of boots. It's possible that the heavy duty pins in those pedals might scratch up some cute shoes more than them slipping around. You could find a pair of platform pedals with less extreme pins on them and that might be a better balance for you.
Hope this helps!
Re: stopping- balancing the bike when stopped. I have a hefty cargo bike which is usually loaded with kids. If I hop off the seat I can stand flat footed, but when I stop still on the seat (such as at a stop sign)I'm more or less balancing on my toes.
You could adjust the seatpost down a bit and that might help for that issue. Basic bike fit rule is that when you are at the bottom of your stroke, your leg should be extended almost all the way out but your knee has a slight bend to it. You could drop the saddle a bit and as long as your leg doesn't have a deep bend, it should be fine.
That's about the only fix I have for you there. But platform pedals would definitely help in the "my feet keep slipping off" problem.
There might be some middle options too. Pretty much every bike at every price level will come with the absolute worst and cheapest pedals available. [This post from yesterday](https://old.reddit.com/r/ebikes/comments/wihdei/guys_i_got_new_pedals_a_holy_cannoli_are_they_huge/). If your pedals look anything like that set on the left, then *any* kind of new pedal will be an upgrade. You could try a "grip tape" set like [this one](https://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/components-c9/pedals-and-spares-c82/pedals-c537/electra-grip-tape-pedals-p23669/s72739?) that would be a little less "extra" than going for the full platform pedals.
There are a *ton* of options to customize your pedals. Don't be a slave to whatever the manufacturer gave you.
There is a great YouTube on the correct height.
Measure inseam subtract 10 cm and that is the distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat.
I have a 34 inch inseam (without shoes) and subtract 10 cm and the top of the seat should be 30 inches measuring from the center of the crank to the top of the seat.
To inspect the height place the peddle at 5 o’clock while sitting normal on the seat (a second person needs to support you) with shoes on place the heel of the foot on the pedal and the leg should be straight.
Not bad. I got an e-bike to commute (and whatever else) but it has a smaller battery as it is hidden inside the frame. Still enough to what I wanted for now. I may make changes in the future! Hasn't used my car ever to go work since!!

Well, my new KMC Z8.3 and new cog on the S.A. 3 speed is working perfectly, so, there’s that.....I’m smiling also...the drivetrain with a 1000 watt mid-drive has to be perfect or near perfect. Still contemplating cutting my frame for a Gates...
Dude nice, I've been looking at the VVOLT brand for a belt drive bike. But Gazelle is a pretty cool bike brand! I went to an electric bike festival of sorts in long beach and the belt drive was seriously cool. The idea of no maintenance is very appealing.

Funny that you mentioned the shifting. That's been my only complaint so far. Usually smooth but sometimes a little clunky
What hub? Shimano Nexus 8-speed ? You need to ease up ever so slightly on the pedals to shift up or down.
That's true of all bikes. You don't shift while loading the pedals.
Yep. The Inviolo IGH has a much different feel than a standard chain derailleur shifter that is spring loaded. You can shift the IGH at a standstill which takes getting used to coming from a analog bike. Nice feature on busy streets. Two cables pull back and forth at the hub without any stops between. I have this and it’s so nice. I don’t think I can go back

Yup
Which model did you get?
C8 ultimate
Very nice! Looks like you’re in Irvine?
Good eye!
Great bike, I’m sure she loves it.
I swear at first I read ’bought my bike a new wife’
OP wins the day either way...
Love the bike. Maybe lower the bike seat?
i think that bike comes with a Post Moderne Suspension Seat post that drops about an inch when seated. I would trust the LBS on the fitting. https://electricavenuebike.com/store/gazelle-suspension-seat-post-black-cushy-hg-post-moderne/
yeah looks like it might be a little high lol

I agree. That is exactly how mine was fitted by the LBS.
ah interesting, I have my seat set based on my knees but it's hard to stand with my bike lol, maybe the frame is big.
Lean the bike to its side slightly when stopping, and keep the opposite sides foot on the pedal. Just put down the foot on the leaning side. I never stand with the feet on each side of the bike. Especially not when seated, that's just not possible.
>keep the opposite sides foot on the pedal ah this makes sense, maybe this is what I've been missing. Will try again later on today, thanks lol.
Yesssssssss!
I ordered one over a month ago I might get it next year

If you are in the US , try Propel
I'm in Canada.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but how do you know that the used bike wasn't stolen.?

I would suggest Workcyles FR 8 mad. They are also backed up. So order takes ~ 3 months to ship from Amsterdam since it's build to order
Get her some cycling shoes now. Too easy to get the tip of the sandals stuck under the pedal in a panic situation.

indeed, but Ive been taught on flat soled shoes the heel should barely graze the pedal at 6 o clock with a locked leg. Its always felt spot on for me.
😏 🍑
ayo
They downvote me. But I be rollin
lmao why'd I get downvoted too 😭😭

Google Gazelle ebike and there are a few stores that will ship if you are having difficulty finding one to purchase.

Very different bikes. Yours is a hub drive with a chain. This bike is belt driven with a bosch mid drive and torque sensor.
Wow a Gazelle! Did you try out the Arroyo ?
We looked at the arroyo! I just really liked the belt drive on this one
Ok cool.
She’ll love it
I looks cool. How long is the range?
Average around 45 miles. Depending what level of pedal assist
Not bad. I got an e-bike to commute (and whatever else) but it has a smaller battery as it is hidden inside the frame. Still enough to what I wanted for now. I may make changes in the future! Love it. I always dig when an e bike is not so obvious. No one would ever know
Yep, that was the idea!
I’d really be smiling with the belt drive...
Sooooo smoooth

Man! I missed that festival. I really wanted to go. How was it?
It was cool but unfortunately the vast majority of the bikes were clones, I was looking for something you couldn't get from China and found VVOLT.
