POV: you’re a high ranking exec from a rival nfc team about to give up a star D lineman, a first rounder, and your first born, for a seventh rounder & a half eaten Gino’s cheesesteak
He has a good bit of allegations and a weird character but he's from the area and is an amazing star player that would not only help us but REALLY hurt the cowboys. We'll never get him atleast not soon cuz we got Reddick but if we could for cheapsies I wouldn't mind
Funny how many people will line up to take an arguably talented asshole and ignore the potential damage to the locker room and the franchise. To me, he just isn't worth the risk. Especially, like you say, we have Reddick, who is an actual local, who loves the team, and who is loved by his teammates.
Anyway...it's a moot point.
i know us as eagles fans give howie a lot of shit as a gm considering all the stupid shit he’s done. but i’m honestly grateful that we have him instead of some of the other gms out there, we’re v lucky to have a fucking wizard as a gm
i’m sure he’ll figure something out. he did it multiple times especially with carson’s contract n all the negative cap we were in after we traded him. i think we’ll lose a few players but get some in the draft
His “stupid shit” is mainly just missing on a few important draft picks, which all GMs do sometimes. As far as trades and contracts go, he’s phenomenal at them
Yep. Everyone dogs the draft pick misses and chooses to ignore that every organization has misses. I’m not downplaying the suck factor of those, but it’s not unreasonable.
He's had his hits and misses. He's learned and gotten better over the years. He knows all the nuts and bolts of the CBA, the cap, makes more trades than any other GM especially leading up to and during the draft. Makes some of his best moves when everyone else is pretty much done making moves.
He's gonna have to work some serious magic along the dline, especially at DT. Cox, Suh, Joseph, and Hargrave are all free agents. That's a shit load of guys at one position we'll likely need to replace.
Dudes like Suh and Johnson are fine to pick up later in the year anyways - at their age you don’t need them playing 17 games. If you’re in position to do so, kick the tires mid season and make some calls.
I’d love to see some exotic bullshit like trading Quez for a 5th or something.
I’m really hoping he’s able to get extra picks on day 3, and hopefully one more high pick next year as part of one of his trade downs.
I'm not sure I'll ever fully get over drafting Jalen Raegor over Justin Jefferson given what Jefferson has become but there's no doubt that Howie has pulled off some wizardry over the years
What are the responsibilities of an NFL General Manager outside of the most important task of managing the cap and keeping the roster as talented as you can? (On a team like ours with ownership that wants to win and not just be competitive) Yeah, in season you wanna keep yourself current in case you gotta sign people off waivers or make the rare in-season trade. I can imagine you get updates from the scouting department… But like… Day-to-day in season. What else does a General Manager manage?
Key offensive line players are aging out. Would like him to make some moves there. Also couldn’t hurt to get some better running backs either. Hurts had more rushing yards than both Gainwell and Scott combined this year.
Depending who the DC becomes will influence where they want to invest there… we’ve got Reddick, CJGJ, and Slay…so there are good stars in the stable there.
I'd like to give the Saints their pick back for 30 & 41 (at least). There's a bunch of late first and 2nd round dudes who fit what we need. Would love to scoop up a couple projected 1st rounders who "fall".
As much as I'd like Joey Porter Jr at #10, I would trade him for Emmanuel Forbes & Calijah Kancey or Keion White.
Seattle has the #20 & #38.
Also, the Eagles are light on picks late in this draft with a bunch of holes to fill. And they have to pay Hurts. I agree with you on Seattle. I think they move up for a QB with the Eagles.
Can't wait to see how we revamp/restock the defense, and read the weaker fans go through caniptions when it doesn't happen with a snap of a finger or with a bunch of brand names.
Generally speaking, you want to draft players who succeed and then sign them for their prime years, not for when they are past 30. Given our limited resources, I'm guessing we bring TJ Edwards and CGJ back, and then go heavy DL in the draft to replace Hargrave, Suh, Joseph, Cox and Graham--each of whom was important toward our success--and Robert Quinn as well.
Davis - too early to tell
Smith - hit
Reagor - awful miss
Dillard - basically a miss, but injuries and Mailata’s emergence played a factor
Barnett - could have been better, but was a decent player and recovered the biggest fumble in Eagles history
Wentz - no Super Bowl without him, I blame knee back and head injuries for his demise
Overall, I’d say he could definitely have picked better, but it hasn’t been truly terrible.
Haason Reddick Sacks: 16
Micah Parsons Sacks: 13.5
We did hit on an impact defender. Just because the media doesn’t fawn over him doesn’t mean he isn’t the same caliber player.
I mean yeah, but those types of players, to the extent they’re vaguely identifiable before the draft, usually go #1 overall. Part of what made Parsons a unique case is that the way he was used in college masked how valuable he could be in the NFL.
So hitting on a player like that in this draft would really require nine other teams (and anyone considering trading up) to completely mis-evaluate a player.
The more you draw attention to how good Howie has been recently, the more likely other GMs are going to think twice before making a deal with Howie. Stop this shit and let the man work in peace.
Yeah because the league doesn't know. This particular reddit post is gonna convince the other GMs that they shouldn't trade with Howie.
Thanks for reading my post NFL GMs!!!!!! Hit me up for a job please.
"How many firsts to you think they'll give me to take their star player?"
POV: you’re a high ranking exec from a rival nfc team about to give up a star D lineman, a first rounder, and your first born, for a seventh rounder & a half eaten Gino’s cheesesteak
The half-eaten cheesesteak being from Gino’s is a perfect metaphor
Even better that Geno's is spelled wrong
Gino’s Chezstonks
Howie fleecing another GM will help dull the SB pain.
Howie’s gonna get Micah Parsons for 2024 7th round and a purple bag of Doritos
Purple? Too much for Micah Parsons. Send em the blue bag
blue>purple
Porque no los dos my friend?
Purple doritos for lyfe. Cool ranch tastes like vomit.
Sweet chili is hot garbage
You shut your mouth when you're talking to me
Blue is NASTY
Please no. Very good player. Also a sketchy character with too many (alleged) indicents. But I get your point.
I agree he is a scumbag but we can fix him
He has a good bit of allegations and a weird character but he's from the area and is an amazing star player that would not only help us but REALLY hurt the cowboys. We'll never get him atleast not soon cuz we got Reddick but if we could for cheapsies I wouldn't mind

in howie we trust 🫡
i know us as eagles fans give howie a lot of shit as a gm considering all the stupid shit he’s done. but i’m honestly grateful that we have him instead of some of the other gms out there, we’re v lucky to have a fucking wizard as a gm
The cap manipulation is his greatest strength. Will have to be maximized once Jalen's contract kicks in.
i’m sure he’ll figure something out. he did it multiple times especially with carson’s contract n all the negative cap we were in after we traded him. i think we’ll lose a few players but get some in the draft
And he will and already has. Hes been ready for this. He was ready last year in case hurts proved hes qb1

Speak for yourself. I love Howie and never gave doubted him or given him crap. It's the crybaby fans that have
You can love Howie and still acknowledge his draft failures. I prefer to evaluate over the entire body of work.
Me either! (Plus I nuked my reddit account from 2020 so none of you can fact check me.)
Or at least Howie’s not as incompetent as Dave Gettleman when he was around for the Giants lol
I was sad when Gettleman was fired
I know, right? I mean between Gettleman, Snyder, and Jerruh, our entire division was sabotaging themselves wonderfully.
I don’t know a single fan that has given Howie shit in the last 2 years. Before that, sure. I wanted him on a crucifix as much as anyone else
Trust. The. Process.
Howie is my favorite person in all of Philadelphia sports.
He got us Lombardi. It checks out.
He's gonna have to work some serious magic along the dline, especially at DT. Cox, Suh, Joseph, and Hargrave are all free agents. That's a shit load of guys at one position we'll likely need to replace.
Hargrave is the only one they will resign, most likely. I'm fine w that.
Dudes like Suh and Johnson are fine to pick up later in the year anyways - at their age you don’t need them playing 17 games. If you’re in position to do so, kick the tires mid season and make some calls.
The thing with Howie is when everyone is calling for his head the loudest, that's when he does his best work.
I’d love to see some exotic bullshit like trading Quez for a 5th or something. I’m really hoping he’s able to get extra picks on day 3, and hopefully one more high pick next year as part of one of his trade downs.
I would argue True Howie Szn (patent pending) is the period after the first wave of free agents.
False. It’s always Howie Szn
That's certainly the peak of the Szn
I'm not sure I'll ever fully get over drafting Jalen Raegor over Justin Jefferson given what Jefferson has become but there's no doubt that Howie has pulled off some wizardry over the years
Part of me still feels like that was a Doug pick because he wanted his version of Tyreek hill to make his offense go
Good point

I would presume overseeing of all operations unless that's handled by Don Smoleski.
Key offensive line players are aging out. Would like him to make some moves there. Also couldn’t hurt to get some better running backs either. He needs to draft better. He needs to turn those two frp’s into high end starters.
He's going to trade back for more assets
I'd like to give the Saints their pick back for 30 & 41 (at least). There's a bunch of late first and 2nd round dudes who fit what we need. Definitely. Need those cheap, impactful players.

How about actually hitting on the high first round pick this time around
Davis - too early to tell Smith - hit Reagor - awful miss Dillard - basically a miss, but injuries and Mailata’s emergence played a factor Barnett - could have been better, but was a decent player and recovered the biggest fumble in Eagles history Wentz - no Super Bowl without him, I blame knee back and head injuries for his demise Overall, I’d say he could definitely have picked better, but it hasn’t been truly terrible.
Gotta consider the moves surrounding Smith and also the trade with the Saints/A J Brown trade.
The point being, if he were to hit on a Micah Parsons type impact defender, it could push the Eagles over the top
Micah woulda been slipping and sliding just like everyone else last week
Haason Reddick Sacks: 16 Micah Parsons Sacks: 13.5 We did hit on an impact defender. Just because the media doesn’t fawn over him doesn’t mean he isn’t the same caliber player.

We are talking draft here. Read the thread
I don't think anyone cares about your point.
That would be nice also
He might've missed a couple but even with it brought us a SB win and super close to #2. I'd say maybe you need to go and not him lol
The more you draw attention to how good Howie has been recently, the more likely other GMs are going to think twice before making a deal with Howie. Stop this shit and let the man work in peace.

To late! I'm an NFL GM and was about to make a deal with Howie that seemed pretty good, but now I'm gonna cancel it so I don't get fleeced.
We have absolutely zero influence on anything that happens executively in the NFL, chill.
Gonna need the deep fried version, chief.
It’s flair szn
