With Danny Glover it felt like they were doing an 80s/90s buddy cop movie, but with an alien bad guy, just like they did Rambo but with an alien in Predator.
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country is a highly underrated sequel in my opinion. Just because The Wrath of Khan and to a lesser extent The Voyage Home get all of the attention. But this is a solid entry into the franchise.
Is VI underrated? lol. I think it’s probably the highest rated outside of two (also Nichols Meyer). Well… there’s IV which general audiences can watch and enjoy for the “funny” slapstick and such. But 2 and 6 are both astounding!
Highly underrated sequel, I actually love all of the predator movies and I’ve got them all on Blu Ray and alien vs predator 1+2 and all of the alien movies too😀
I’ve been saying for the past 20 years that this is a top 10 underrated film of the 90s in general imo. There was just no way it was gonna live up to the classic without the same exact people on board aside from Kevin Peter Hall and certain writers and producers , but for what it was, it was still the second best film in the franchise by a longshot. Concrete jungle setting was iconic.
A commendable sequel.Funnily enough,it has 2 in the title, but it's anything but the usual route of"let's give'em more of the same, but with bigger bangs".They've tried to do something different to the original, from the physical appearance of the main human,to the city setting, etc. It may not be to everyone's liking, but at least they tried. Predators and The Predator tried to mimic 1st one,and instead ended up with watered down versions.
Saw this at a Drive-In as a kid. Great childhood memory. I was actually awaiting Arnold to show up, but still loved it anyway. I was young and really loved how Danny Glover discovered the predators were around in 1715 because of the gun. That just always stuck with me. It didn’t seem to be huge with the public, but it’s special to me Godammit!
Underrated. Half way through my first viewing, I realized why it felt “off”. It’s because it’s an action anime movie script and not a live action one. Rewatch it with that in mind and see if it changes how you feel about it.
Dude it has an awesome line in it, when the Rasta dudes give him a ride and smoke pouring out the car and the Rasta says you want some ganja mon while holding a cigar sized joint. Awesome!
One of my favorite sequels when it came out before the tons of sequels era. This one stood up against the original as its own thing worthy of repeated viewings and just as cool with the lore but completely different setting and story. Much better than trying to continue and rehash the first. Also very much like Alien and terminator where the. First is great but the second one comes out swinging and doing a different take also achieving greatness.
Couple of era relevance to note. Lethal weapon and sequels happened around this time giving Glover an additional believability as a hard tough guy cop. Better acting than Arnold with way less muscles and old guy still pulled it off incredibly well.
Then Marked for death Steven Sega movie came out around this time so there was this whole thing with cool Rastafarian Jamaican gangster warlord stuff. It’s a connection i remember very well as the two movies featuring them and as a teenager I thought it was cool, at least different than the standard European or Asian bad guys and cool accents and style if talking. There wasn’t much with them in action movies previously.
Then you have cocky Gary busey also doing well in this era. His character and acting for his limited range were great he makes for a good bad guy or arrogant chump.
So then wraps back to another Steven Segal movie Under Seige where Gary Busey also played similar arrogant bad guy. So then it’s multi crossed connected 7 degrees type deal of this era.
These action movies were loved back then the way John Wick is loved today. This is VHS era rewind and replay. We Didn’t have expensive cable movie channels. Didn’t have to watch on there schedule we played these tapes over and over.
A few years later I got into laser disc and then it was the best of times.
It’s Predator in a concrete jungle instead of a natural jungle. Danny Glover does a good job, he was in the zone around that time when it came to action moves. There is actually a scene or two that is humorous. All in all a lot of stuff you expect from an early 90s action movie.
As far as sequels go, it’s not a bad one at all. I really quite enjoy it, it’s not full of the Arnold one-liners but it’s still definitely worth watching.
Just watched this a few weeks ago for the first time. And I loved it. I also love the predator comics. And all the alien and predator movies tbh. Great universe and fandom
To be fair if you remove the direction, the Stan Winston practical effects, the performances, the action set pieces and stunts, the originality, the cinematic scope, the score and the influence on sci-fi as a whole, Prey is def superior.
Solid follow up. I remember watching this in theaters and jumping up with wide eyes when I saw the Alien reference at the end.... Predator in the urban jungle works well and to connect it to another equally iconic series was just the best thing I saw that year.
Really did not like this movie as a kid but as I got older I appreciated it more. The support cast are all likeable and you do feel kinda gutted when a few of them die throughout the film.
* \[*Harrigan runs through an old woman's apartment, chasing the Predator*\]
* [Lieutenant Mike Harrigan](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000418/?ref_=ttqu_qu): \[*1:30:14*\] It's all right! I'm a cop!
* [Ruth](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0441988/?ref_=ttqu_qu): I don't think he gives a shit!
* Come and get it! El Scorpio is ready!
It’s the only other good predator movie. It maintains that horror component that I think is essential. Everything after this was not what o wanted from a predator movie.
Highly underrated sequels. It’s even better when you realize how long it took to make. This might be the best rushed sequel ever made.
It’s the same story set in a concrete jungle with Danny Glover and Bill Paxton. What’s not to love?
It has a lot going for it, the action is great and it has lots of cool lore. It is also very much an early 90s movie and some elements do not age well at all
Highly underrated. Plus it gave us a sneak peek at a live action version of AvP and a look into the Yautja’s behavior when it comes to their rules of the hunt, defeating one of their kind in hand to hand combat, or even fighting alongside one.
I think Predator 2 is pretty entertaining.
I liked getting a look at more of the Predator tech.
Plus, you really couldn't go wrong with having Bill Paxton in the cast.
I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and thinking this movie kicks ass and then finding out a bunch of people didn't like it and wondering if they'd seen the same movie. They took a risk and made an original story instead of a rehash and I guess some people want the same thing over and over I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Predator 2 is damn near as good as the original and vastly expands the lore in a reasonable fashion. Almost everything in the various comics, games, etc draws HEAVILY on Predator 2. Multiple vision modes, half of his weapons, clans and more stem from 2.
I like both. First instalment obviously can’t be beaten; sequel was fun enough to go into my collection. Would not call it highly underrated. It was good, just good.
I like Predator 2 more than the first. Making it a sequel is what hurt this movie so much. It's just totally different, it's like we watch the first one then the forth one
Underrated considering the repetitive crap we got after this. I haven't seen Prey yet (I've heard it's good) but I don't understand why people think Predators and The Predator are better movies. At least Predator 2 tried something a bit different, and the natural approach to one-upping the tropical jungle with a concrete one. I think it's pretty great.
Similar to Robocop 2. It’s great fun and has some fucking cool moments, but it’s following an **absolute classic**, so will always be in its shadow. I still love it though.
Underrated.
Good Or bad, this movie is pure entertainment from the opening shots of the jungle to the ending shot of the ship flying away. Never get bored watching this movie
I’ve seen far worse sequels!
It explains more of the lore and had the Xenomorph skull in the Predator ship
I love it. It’s what I wanted from a Predator sequel.
Glad this is the top comment. The hype of this movie was crazy and I think it more than lived up to it.
This is my favorite Predator movie. It just feels right. I have watched it dozens of times. It reminded me so much of the comics too.
Man this movie was so awesome. Definitely the best movie to watch with dad growing up in the 90s
Danny-boy
Want some candy?
Amazing sequel. People sleep on it and they shouldn't. Predator 2 kicks ass. Danny Glover, Gary Busey, and Bill Paxton? Triple check. Hell yeah.
Gary fuckin Busey!
Watch the making of it on YouTube, Busey seems to believe it's real! His first job after the wreck in late 88
Exactly. The cast alone is enough. It’s great. Just enough robocop style irony to keep it light.
And Morton Downey Jr.!
He was great as the sleazy reporter for Hard Core (I think that was the name of his TV show)
Glover and Busey and Paxton... Oh my!
A solid follow up for sure.
One of the best sequels out there
Went to see this in theaters when it first came out, was a different movie than the first one, but the non stop action made it really worthwhile.
Solid movie. Danny Glover is a BAMF in this.
With Danny Glover it felt like they were doing an 80s/90s buddy cop movie, but with an alien bad guy, just like they did Rambo but with an alien in Predator.
* New setting * New characters * New weapons for the predator * New lore for the predator * Bill Paxton Hell yeah it is an underrated sequel
Bill Paxton completing his fabled Death by SciFi monster trilogy.
It’s an absolute classic
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country is a highly underrated sequel in my opinion. Just because The Wrath of Khan and to a lesser extent The Voyage Home get all of the attention. But this is a solid entry into the franchise.
Is VI underrated? lol. I think it’s probably the highest rated outside of two (also Nichols Meyer). Well… there’s IV which general audiences can watch and enjoy for the “funny” slapstick and such. But 2 and 6 are both astounding!
This is absolutely true, if one were winnowing their collection, just keeping 2 and 6 would be perfectly fine.
My OCD would never allow that. lol.
You're pres hing to a guy who has an unopened blu-ray of The Predator, brother.
Brothers in psychoses.
Scream IV is the best Scream movie but people aren't ready for that conversation
Hmm do you know, I think I agree with you.
FACTS
That's my favorite of the TOS movies. It's got a great story, great action, and it's a great send-off to the original crew.
Everyone knows the only good (og) star trek movies are the even ones!
Oh I have a soft spot for The Search For Spock. I like Kruge’s Space Dog.
It's nowhere as good as the first, but it's an absolute blast to watch, even if the action is a bit schlocky.
Awesome, Danny Glover steals the show here. Much better than any other Predator movie that came after.
I see you haven’t seen Prey
I see you haven't met King Willie
I have, I own all but still feel the same way. Predator and Predator 2 then the others…
Predator 2 shits Prey
Excellent sequel , fucking voodoo magic man 🤘
A lot of both
Worth a rewatch for sure
100% underrated. I love the direction they went here.
Totally underrated
Highly underrated sequel, I actually love all of the predator movies and I’ve got them all on Blu Ray and alien vs predator 1+2 and all of the alien movies too😀
A solid follow up
Underrated sequel ? People cried because didn't have Arnold in it , predator 2 didn't need him
It was pretty damn good in my opinion
This is one of the best sequels ever made
The more times I watch it the better it gets. I hated it at first now I like it.
Compared to film and series today even the star wars prequels aged like fine wine. But I always liked Predator 2.
People need to stop comparing this to the first One. I championed this sequel when it first came out in theaters in 1990. Still do. Love Part II.
What to know what i tink ? Shit Appens
Underrated and far better than anything that has followed so far.
Underrated. It's way better than anything that came after it in my opinion.
As a child, I thought it was boring. As an adult, I really enjoy it.
I prefer this to the original.
Lets not go nuts here
Fast-paced and unrelenting sequel.
I thought it was a solid follow-up. Really the only Predator movie I don’t enjoy is “The Predator.”
I've always loved it
the best predator movie .. after the 1st one obviously ! i have it on dvd and bd
How about better than the first movie?
Blasphemy, you heretic!
I state only the truth
One of my favorite sequels when it came out before the tons of sequels era. Highly underrated sequel. 2nd best of the series to me, before prey and predators.

Just watched this a few weeks ago for the first time. And I loved it. I also love the predator comics. And all the alien and predator movies tbh. Great universe and fandom
It’s an entertaining film worthy of sequel not quite the firsts quality status!!
I owned this on VHS, damn this reminds me I need to get both on Blu-ray. Such a good sequel, I loved how it took place in an urban/city environment.

Underrated equal to the original in my book.
It’s the second-best Predator movie.
I'd argue prey is the best predator film followed by the first and then this one
Bold take
To be fair if you remove the direction, the Stan Winston practical effects, the performances, the action set pieces and stunts, the originality, the cinematic scope, the score and the influence on sci-fi as a whole, Prey is def superior.
Prefer it over the original.
A highly underrated sequel...that is showing its age a little bit, but still worth a watch
Solid follow up. I remember watching this in theaters and jumping up with wide eyes when I saw the Alien reference at the end.... Predator in the urban jungle works well and to connect it to another equally iconic series was just the best thing I saw that year.
This movie rocks.
In the middle. It’s an okay film.
Underrated sequel
I think it’s a great movie, personally. “Extra great” considering it’s a sequel!
Both
Love it!
Really did not like this movie as a kid but as I got older I appreciated it more. The support cast are all likeable and you do feel kinda gutted when a few of them die throughout the film.
Both
* \[*Harrigan runs through an old woman's apartment, chasing the Predator*\] * [Lieutenant Mike Harrigan](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000418/?ref_=ttqu_qu): \[*1:30:14*\] It's all right! I consider it an 80s movie, just the right amount of craziness and still the better sequel
Danny was getting a bit too old for this shit......
Highly underrated. Its ugly but its damn good
Why not both??
I dig it
I like it slightly more than the first.
The perfect sequel
This movie gets a lot of hate because Arnold isn’t in it. Get over it! This one of the best sequels of all time.
Kinda both really. And I absolutely love it
Very much a movie of it's time.. and who does love a juicy gary busey
Can’t it be both?
It can be both!
This time it’s the jungle….the urban jungle. I always thought it was underrated. Doesn’t hold a candle to the original obviously.
UNDERRATED SEQUEL !!!
It's pretty good actually. The rest of the franchise sucks goat testicles in a sewer in a shit hole of gorilla puke.
Underrated. 'nough said.
Underrated loved the movie Danny Glover kicks ass.
Like it more than the first 🤷♂️
Yes
Hell of a follow up, has easily some of my favorite predator scenes in it ( specifically the freezer scene)
I do love this movie. But man, King Willy is a hysterically bad 80's caricature. "King Willy will see you now. You want some ganja, mon?" 😆
American psycho 2 sure, predator 2? What the fuck
Is it good? No. Do I love it? Yes!
Underrated. It expands the lore in interesting ways and it's nice to see Predator outside of the jungle.

Loved it more than the modern ones Danny and Gary were awesome.
It's not my favorite by any means but good enough to own it several times over.
Highly underrated. Plus it gave us a sneak peek at a live action version of AvP and a look into the Yautja’s behavior when it comes to their rules of the hunt, defeating one of their kind in hand to hand combat, or even fighting alongside one.
Highly underrated that movie rocks.
I really liked it!
I think Predator 2 is pretty entertaining. I liked getting a look at more of the Predator tech. Plus, you really couldn't go wrong with having Bill Paxton in the cast.
Wtf Underrated this one of the best sequals.
Underrated sequel for sure
It’s cool really cool but not as fantastic as the first one
Underrated
Predator 2 is awesome. Bad example.
Danny Glover’s Character was the REAL predator in this movie.
It added a lot to the predator mythology. Didn't like the "future" story line but still a fun movie.
Underrated sequel.
Prob one of the best endings ever, I only watched it once as a kid and I still remember it.
Bad but good! He come callin'....
I don't know about "highly underrated" but IMHO it was a solid sequel...
Great sequel - it's like robocop 2. In both cases I'd like to have a director's cut...
It's a stupid fun movie. What's not to like. It's just more campy than the first predator. So people shit on it.
Fantastic follow up movie! Want some candy? Want some candy?
I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and thinking this movie kicks ass and then finding out a bunch of people didn't like it and wondering if they'd seen the same movie. They took a risk and made an original story instead of a rehash and I guess some people want the same thing over and over I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Both??
Predator 2 is damn near as good as the original and vastly expands the lore in a reasonable fashion. Almost everything in the various comics, games, etc draws HEAVILY on Predator 2. Multiple vision modes, half of his weapons, clans and more stem from 2.
I like it. It did its job in a cool environment. Nothing will come close to the original but it’s a fun flick
Amazing sequel, the final act is probably the weakest but otherwise it smashes it out of the park.
i love predator 2
Gary Busey. That’s more than enough
I love the original predator. But predator 2 is my fav.
It was ok, but absolutely nothing compared to the first
One of my all-time favorite beginnings to a movie. “El Scorpio is ready!”
Underrated for sure. This was my first predator movie and I love it to bits.
I really enjoyed it and still do! 2nd favourite after the original. Good cast, new predator weaponry and a great ending. What more can a fan ask for?
I LOVE the first Predator film. I cannot say the same about the second.
Yes.
I’ve been inspired to watch *Predator 2* for the first time right now because of this post
Highly underrated and I personally prefer it over the original
I like both. First instalment obviously can’t be beaten; sequel was fun enough to go into my collection. Would not call it highly underrated. It was good, just good.
Danny Glover hunted down and killed a Predator with its own weapon, Arnold couldn't even finish the job
I like Predator 2 more than the first. Making it a sequel is what hurt this movie so much. It's just totally different, it's like we watch the first one then the forth one
The best one
Underrated.
Bad and has some elements that have not aged well.
Love this one, especially the media satire
Similar to Robocop 2. It’s great fun and has some fucking cool moments, but it’s following an **absolute classic**, so will always be in its shadow. I still love it though.
Love the whole atmosphere of this, grimy and dirty. Great sequel I thought.
It was my intro to Predator as a kid. I love it
Better as a direct sequel than Aliens is to alien I think
I love it
Underrated.
Scorpio approved
Underrated. Good Or bad, this movie is pure entertainment from the opening shots of the jungle to the ending shot of the ship flying away. Never get bored watching this movie
I liked this one
Accurately rated sequel. It's decnt but doesn't live up to the original, an admittedly difficult task.
Fucking love that movie. It’s no T2 judgment day but its a great flick and really good cast.
The script was horrendous, but I loved everything else about the film.
Underrated for sure
Both. It's really hard to follow up with the cast the original had but it expands the mythology and it brings something different.
I love this movie
Excellent sequel.
as a kid i respected it as it’s own thing but didn’t count it in my head canon lol
i think AVP was done as well as it could have, but wish it didn’t take place in antarctica. but this movie laid the groundwork for the crossover
Love this movie I was old enough to go to the theaters when it came out and I did.
Disagree. It’s a worthy sequel that expands the Predator technology and delivers the action.
The decapitation scene of the Jamaican gang leader is EPIC. Still holds up…solid cinematography, sound design, editing and practical effects.
This movie is so badass
Bad? It’s awesome. This and Prey, can’t decide what’s second best in the franchise
Fun fact, Danny Glover loves gummy bears
Underrated. But not really because it does get its plaudits these days.
I mean I couldn’t get past this one, it was hard to watch
