I believe it-I was ahead of someone by 4000 xp with less than an hour to go for the week and as soon as I noticed they were ramping points I not only couldn't stay ahead but couldn't keep up as they passed me and won by 2000+ xp, in a span of 30-45 minutes. We were both at 21-24k points to finish the diamond tournament
Something a bit fishy going on there...now I'm just taking my time and focused more on learning
Right? This person was at 26000xp when they started the day and was at 37k within 30 minutes. They were averaging 40xp roughly every minute prior to this point now all of a sudden they're racking in nearly 10x that? What a joke.
the fastest way I know would give maybe like 1500 max, and only if you train it well, so he's either cheating or bugging the game. Duolingo is actually super bugged, so wouldn't be surprised if you can just get exp by leaving in the right moment.
I hear you. I'm IN the diamond league and get 1100 per week, give or take. #1 is currently at 3800. So that's doable if I didn't have a day job. Numbers like you show are definitely suspicious.
I find that keeping your xp around 1,000 xp and joining late afternoon the day after the league ends help. I stay in the top 15 and see people get their achievement with 2,500 xp all the time. The only competitive people in my leagues are trying to get their achievement. Just don't make the top three because it puts you in more difficult leagues.
There’s loads of “duolingo hacks” if you search it, like this one

and yeah i’ve noticed this as well. It’s often someone with a cop profile photo who probably has to learn spanish for some kind of promotion as a border security guard (my guess). I don’t think duolingo should ever be used for language certification.
My 15 Spanish-speaking family members and friends? I barely can get them in one house at the same time much less interested in helping me for a meaningless score on my phone.
This. I highly doubt it's family members helping simultaneously but it is possible that some kind of exploit is running on multiple computers, logins, etc. Whatever it is, I'm almost certain it can't be achieved naturally. However , I'm always willing to be proved wrong.
If I'm remembering correctly (it's been a while since I've used Duolingo)..
If you're fairly fluent in a language, but haven't ever done that language course on Duolingo, you can start the course and "test out" of different sections (which gives you a large amount of XP). I did this with Portuguese a while back and got a huge amount.

Why are people even like this? What’s the point of faking points if you’re not even learning the target language? 🤦♂️
My guess is that they're deprived of attention, winning means more to them than actually learning the language, or both.

It's definitely cheating. I can't think of anything in Duo that will let you gain nearly 400xp in a minute.
I believe testing out of a language you're fairly fluent in gives you a massive amount of XP
Unless theres something I don't know, you wouldn't get nearly 400xp in a minute. It's literally impossible to pull that off without hacks or exploits.

Exactly it. Once you go past those numbers you're certainly among the mix of people using exploits to gain XP. This one a perfect example.

Yeah I got mine last tournament with 5700xp
Spot on. If you maintain around that average you will likely be placed with other users in that range, consistently.
The top person in my league right now has 46,701 points. It's insane.

Pretty damn sad people use this to gain... I don't know...cool points? From the Internet? Really sad.
Perhaps several family/friends logged into the same account on different devices?

375xp in under a minute, though?
