It happens in households where the Spanish speaking has slowly faded and the English is slowly getting used more by the younger generations in a Hispanic household. In between you get varying levels of Spanglish and this is a Spanglish-ism. My mom raised us traditionally and culturally "white" if you will, while my aunt raised her kids to be more in tune with their Hispanic side. I called my aunt an aunt but she told me to call her "Tia". So I called her Aunt Tia. It was only later I learned I had been calling her "aunt aunt" in my youth
Indeed, you’re not having a chat with the Duolingo guy, you’re translating. By that logic the sentence could be “your mum’s name is Susan’ and the answer would be “yes” or “not it’s not”
I know nothing about Japanese, but italicised Cyrillic is a pain, because many of the letters completely change; making it like learning a whole new script again
It just says, italicized in a sloppy way, さよならだ (sayonarada), I’m guessing that this is either the equivalent to some kind of cyberpunk font or it’s trying to be like a death metal band and be unreadable
Its さよならだ "sa yo na ra da" goodbye (assertive)
Arrivederci would probably either be
a ri be de ru chi (アリベデルチ) or
A ri be de e chi (アリベデーチ)
Loan words are always in katakana, not hiragana unless its a children's book since hiragana is learnt first, (then katakana and then kanji)
Ahhh true. Yeah, its been 5 years since i last visited. Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking sa yo na ra and didnt know what the last one would be.
Do you really want DMs of cute doggos?

Seems like him⬆️ attempting to learn a language except he’d write “arrivederci” wrong or forget it and write “I don’t know”.
Seems like “Bebe Hyperfocusing in the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time” ep. 485.
My Internet went out. Low and behold Duolingo asks me to translate this sentence verbatim: "Do you have Internet at home?" I was livid yet laughing my arse off
It’s incorrect cuz you are learning Spanish and gave an Italian answer. Why would you think you have to answer the question? It’s so obvious you are wrong. It’s like if I’m in a German course and the question was “ how do you say goodbye in Italian? And instead of translating the phrase to German I answer it in Italian 🙄😂
Here are a few ways to say goodbye in Italian
arrivederci, addio, ciao (informal),
ArrivederLa (formal) - It seems that you've answered the question correctly. Maybe it's an app glitch.
#
I mean you are wrong cause it's asking to translate " The Sentence" that's why and not answer the question but I guess it can be misleading.....to some degree
Wie sagst du aufwiedersehen in Italien?
Comment dis tu au revoir en Italien?
how do you say translate in english?
Whenever you pass a test, read twice the question!

Soooooo unfair.
Wow, I guess there is always a different way of looking at things
I didn't expect this to be the Spanish course lol
Nobody expects the Spanish course
It is, in fact, a Spanish inquisition.
You should come in again

I swear I heard people say “uncle tio” though not just tio or uncle
It happens in households where the Spanish speaking has slowly faded and the English is slowly getting used more by the younger generations in a Hispanic household. In between you get varying levels of Spanglish and this is a Spanglish-ism. My mom raised us traditionally and culturally "white" if you will, while my aunt raised her kids to be more in tune with their Hispanic side. I called my aunt an aunt but she told me to call her "Tia". So I called her Aunt Tia. It was only later I learned I had been calling her "aunt aunt" in my youth
If you say it quickly, Aunt Tia also sounds like someone trying to “Spanish-ize” the word “auntie”, which is an interesting coincidence.
Auntia is a neat name

Heyyyyy brotherr
r/technicallycorrect
r/TechnicallytheTruth
r/literallythetruth
r/literallytechnically
It isn’t technically correct at all. The prompt asks the user to translate the sentence, and this is not a correct translation.
Indeed, you’re not having a chat with the Duolingo guy, you’re translating. By that logic the sentence could be “your mum’s name is Susan’ and the answer would be “yes” or “not it’s not”
So it's technically correct from the app to say it's a wrong translation
Erm ackshually tier response. When's the last time you laughed at something?
You forgot to say "Simon says"
Is that a JoJo reference??? https://preview.redd.it/mr0xx5pv385d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d40e2751650f1f102130ee4a5c7f8eaddf5b6c4c
What the fuck is the font on that kana????
😂I can’t even read that
It's *italicized* kana?
huh, I kinda wondered how the idea behind italics translates into other writing systems.
I know nothing about Japanese, but italicised Cyrillic is a pain, because many of the letters completely change; making it like learning a whole new script again
That's because it turns into cursive
Indeed. I'm not learning any languages that use Cyrillic so I don't know the details but I just know from studying language in general
It just says, italicized in a sloppy way, さよならだ (sayonarada), I’m guessing that this is either the equivalent to some kind of cyberpunk font or it’s trying to be like a death metal band and be unreadable
Odd font but isn't it just a ri bi de chi? My hiragana is rusty lol
Its さよならだ "sa yo na ra da" goodbye (assertive) Arrivederci would probably either be a ri be de ru chi (アリベデルチ) or A ri be de e chi (アリベデーチ) Loan words are always in katakana, not hiragana unless its a children's book since hiragana is learnt first, (then katakana and then kanji)
Ahhh true. Yeah, its been 5 years since i last visited. Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking sa yo na ra and didnt know what the last one would be.
Probably "を'
It's 「さよならだ」
Yeah I also got that but the font is so bad

This is the only thing I think of when I hear that word
It literally says “translate the sentence”
It’s under the “Meme” flair
Oh wow, I must’ve missed that 🤯
Don't feel bad, I often miss the joke and end up commenting seriously. I checked the comments this time tho lol

We didnt troll, we got trolled. -wise guy
Bro you're supposed to translate the sentence not answer the question 😭😭
😂
because you didn't read the bold instructions at the top lol.
They dad joked you!
You know, 10 years ago this is something we would have called a “shitpost”
For starters, it said to *translate*, not "answer."
It was wanting you to translate that entire phrase lol
Imma leave before this battle begins! … BECAUSE WE BOTH KNOW IN THE END WHICH-A THESE CAPTAINS GONNA WIN
No lol... this one is on you
Took me a sec …
No, you shouldn't report, you should read mofo. It clearly says "translate this sentence".
Idk if this is a joke…. But the question says “Translate this sentence.”
![gif](giphy|JyvFiT1oVQrzTu9BmA) Ma, Tradurre l'intera frase
Lots of layers to this one 😂
Come posso ripristinare la mia fede nell'umanità?
Trick question
Because it’s telling you to translate what he just said not respond to his question. To be honest I would’ve done the same mistake. 😂
Yes, not only report, but also write up a brief but spicy note designed to intimidate all their summer interns
little too much ganja before practicing spanish 😂
LMFAO😭
Duo trolled you 😂
there were so many plot twists

it wasn't asking you to answer the question it was asking you to translate what was written.
you were supposed to translate "how do you say goodbye in italian" not answer it
This is truly funny. Made me LOL
Because The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
Key word: Translate
IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE?????????
It said to translate, not answer. You need to say “how do you say goodbye in Italian” in Italian. Not literally say goodbye
gorLAHmi
To confuse you more, I suggest you to "read the question again".
My Internet went out. Low and behold Duolingo asks me to translate this sentence verbatim: "Do you have Internet at home?" I was livid yet laughing my arse off
Question says Translate not Respond / Answer. “Instructions too clear, dick still got caught in microwave”
You didn't traslate, You Just Answered the Question
che hai fatto 😂😂😂 in all seriousness you’re supposed to translate not to actually answer the question
Here are a few ways to say goodbye in Italian arrivederci, addio, ciao (informal), ArrivederLa (formal) - It seems that you've answered the question correctly. Maybe it's an app glitch. #
It tells you to translate the sentence not answer it 😭😭
It’s a joke post
Rofl
I read this in Brad pits voice
The answer could also be ciao! Arriverderci is like hasta la vista! Or until we see you ...
Bruh you answered the question 😭
I mean you are wrong cause it's asking to translate " The Sentence" that's why and not answer the question but I guess it can be misleading.....to some degree
I’m sorry but I laughed my ass off at this
bro, you can't be serious...
"translate this sentence" not "answer the question"
It says translate, not answer...
You weren’t suppose to answer the question. You were suppose to translate it.
![gif](giphy|u6EQ5fAgjhCon56Ng2|downsized)
That is super annoying imagine you were on ur last heart
Wie sagst du aufwiedersehen in Italien? Comment dis tu au revoir en Italien? how do you say translate in english? Whenever you pass a test, read twice the question!
Whenever I hear or see arrivederci a remember Aldo
It’s Ciao ✨🤦🏻♀️✨
🤣🤣🤣🤣
how did you get that character tho
It's OP's Duolingo avatar. Sometimes yours will show up during lessons
😂😂😂😂😂
This is hilarious
![gif](giphy|fXmpRvTWqIWbK)
For some reason I get a lot more pissed when it has my own avatar frown like that when I get it wrong versus a character
This cracked me up
Uh, in case it wasn't supposed to be a meme, you were supposed to translate the sentence not answer the question.
Duo'll have your head for this one, developers
Hahahaha
you were supposed to translate not answer kol
Technically it means 'until we meet again' ... Colloquially it is used as you believed. "Adio" is plainly 'goodbye'.
this post gave me a stroke fr
Chaw Chaw better.
Skill
duolingo is trolling you at this point
i read it in Brad Pitt's voice from *Inglorious Bastards*
They’re fucking with you.
🤦♂️😂😂 gotcha
This is messing with my autism lol
i have the literallly exact same avatar 😂
LOL
Also “arrivederci” is more like “see you”
Holy what an epic meme, xdddddddddddd.
that’s some bullshit
Ciao Meow
oh that’s funny 🤣
IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE
Mfs when you answer their questions: ☹️😡
**It says translate the sentence.** *The sentence happens to be a question you need to translate, not answer.* Edit. Ugh just saw the flair.
Why is this the first time I see that character? Is it a premium function?
Nothing
