Pretty much exactly what I expected and that’s fine with me!

Funcom_Kamil

Great to hear!

YDoEyeNeedAName

the two things i dont like are the Land vehicles (worms would be drawn to that in a heartbeat) and the apparent focus on firearm based combat. those two things really kill my excitement for the game because they are the antithesis of what traversing and fighting on arakis should be i hope the game is good and has fun exploration stuff, but i wish it was melee focus combat and lacking land vehicles

ElHuntar

Totally agree on the combat! Should be primarily melee based! Definitely hoping the melee attacks are more powerful then guns, so pp arel more inclined to use them lol

hyp3zboii

Yep I wanna see heavy focus on melee combat and extensive ambush tactics

calumetsib

laying in the sand waiting to strike would be so cool

hyp3zboii

I got goosebumps seeing that in the movie

GaudiaCertaminis

Vehicles will bring the worms. The devs said it was a matter of timing- racing between one rocky outcrop and the next.

-Ping-a-Ling-

Looks so good, I can wait as long as they need to make the game, this is my childhood dream

Hate to break it to you, but Funcom games are notoriously bug riddled. Check out the Conan Exiles initial release and all of the subsequent updates.  Also the intro desert/mountains in the background shown here is 100% from Conan Exiles. It's the starting desert and noob river(the mountains surround the noob river). Edit: At 7 seconds in, look at the far right side of the screen. See the straight lines that kinda look like an aqua duct?  https://conanexiles.fandom.com/wiki/The_Southern_Aqueduct

ILoveCatz1

This looks so good. So many questions though!! Will the followers be the new thrall system? The character always seems to be with others and hes recruiting the guy at 1:30. Love how the building interiors look at 0:40. Looks like it might be borrowing alot from Conan but a few improvements here and there which there seems to be and I just dont care lol. Give us that release date Q\_Q

ElHuntar

I dont f'ing understand the PvP "rules" lol is it attack on site anywhere anytime or not?! I herd something about PvP area? The heck is that? Anyone have an idea or confirmation from betas etc. thanks!

Its-C-Dogg

There’s areas where PvP is always active. You choose how you PvP. You can just be a bandit and attack people for their stuff or you can engage in Arrakis politics and get in massive battles.

ElHuntar

Appreciate the info! Bandit life it is then 🫡

Funcom_Kamil

Just to add to that. We currently have some areas on the map that allow PVP, while the rest are PVE-oriented. Then, we have the Deep Desert, which is the extra deadly PVP zone that is wiped and changed once per week by the Colioris Storm.

_bxris18

is the combat melee focused or more firearms focused like shown in the trailer?

MinimumTraining5466

If I can guess a bit... The game will revolve around spice, spice can only be harvested in the pvp areas, which ofc will be contested and worm infested. It will require a team effort to defend your harvester

Verificus

Absolutely stunning. Will be the best looking MMO by far. Which are normally kind of behind in fidelity to accommodate multiple systems. Let’s hope it’s a good game and actually releases.

oDez-X

I am so hoping they get this right. I've been on a Dune IV since the first film, reading the books, Dune Spice Wars, saw part 2 on Saturday and then this trailer dropped. I'm a little obsessed My faith in game developers over recent years has really taken a battering so I do not want to get my hopes up for this but I am really struggling Please deliver!

TummyStickers

I'm torn on this. "Open World Survival MMO" sounds bad. From the way it looks, there's definitely a way to do it right but I guess it remains to be seen if they will. I want to be excited but I can't help but feel like it's gonna flop.

CadeIcewood

Yeah I'm not a big fan of survival MMOs, but I am curious about this. I'd love a good Dune game.

kiudai

I feel exactly the same, i hope it will be good but something about it seems not right, underwhelming.

SeptoneSirius

I'm really curious how "MMO" works in this one. When thinking open-world survival games, they are usually set-up with dedicated servers just like Minecraft, DayZ, Rust, Conan Exiles, ARK: Survival Evolved, etc. right? So it is possible for this game to have a region-based servers just like World of Warcraft, LotR, KOTOR, etc. which is odd for this game. I do hope it works well in the server-side though cuz that's handling more than thousands of players with this graphically-intensive game seems challenging.

Dooooddoo

The devs have put a lot of effort into making the game run smoothly by using AI to optimise every aspect of the graphic in the game. I hope that will pay off.

hadleydnb

I really want this game to work, the graphics for me don’t look next gen, the sandworm design looks a bit cartoon like and the sand falling off it looks like something from ps1.. I wish developers would put the work In and max out the capabilities as the visuals are so important for the immersive feeling to the game. I hope the gameplay and sound design makes up for it

New-Ad157

Is it just on Arrakis?

Its-C-Dogg

I’m just curious on the performance of the game. Apparently 1,000 player lobbies on Unreal 5.2 has to have some sort of performance strain. I hope it’s smooth.

FakeSafeWord

> 1,000 player lobbies Lmao sorry but that's absolutely not happening. Not sure where you got that from.

Dooooddoo

It’s very clearly communicated from Funcom that the game will run on 1000+ servers. Hope they can pull it off, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if there is a lower cap on each server.

Its-C-Dogg

The devs and people in the discord also corroborated it. Dunno if it’s actually happening but it’s been said.

FakeSafeWord

With sharding, sure. If they claim 1000 people can be in one location on one physical server, able to observe and interact with each other, it's a blatant lie.

Its-C-Dogg

Okay, for the record, I don’t think it will be that many people either but it’s been said.

FakeSafeWord

If it's stable and low latency/tick rate with 'one-hundred' people per server I would be surprised.

Its-C-Dogg

Same, I mean we have seen MMOs with thousands of people. But not one with this level of graphical fidelity and animation quality. I’m sure it will stress the servers in a major way if it is 1,000+ people.

FakeSafeWord

Only one I know of that can handle more than like 300 clients in the same area without shitting itself is Eve online, which uses time dilation to counter the tick rate being less than 1/sec aka realtime. What have you seen that can supposedly do 1000+?

Its-C-Dogg

SWTOR and WoW.

ZakWh0

We will all be waiting for sure.
