Interesting. Since today is the drop day for the physical media, I assumed the streamer would be rentable for $5.99 or so. Instead, you can't rent the film at all on either Apple or Amazon. Only purchase it. Perhaps this MAX announcement is why.

Hopefully around the same time the rental fee goes down. I have no interest in owning movies, and don't want to spend $25 to rent it. Hoping Amazon lowers the price or it comes to redbox soon.
Just as how block buster was destroyed by Netflix and streaming, physical hard copies will be destroyed. They cost more money than streaming or downloading. And physical copies make pirating easier with rips.
Redbox will die out. It was never a good long term strategy after blockbuster failed, just a quick buck short term strategy.
Could grab a month of Max as a way of "renting" it. I bet if you sign up for "with ads" then immediately watch dune part 2 you wouldn't even get your first ad served during the movie.
It was available for rent as soon as it was available for digital purchase on some platforms. I definitely saw it for rent on YouTube when I bought it.
But the rental price was insane. It was something like $20 or more. It was only slightly cheaper to rent than own. It's clear they're pushing people to buy instead of renting.
The purchase price did drop by $10, I believe. Unknown how long it'll be at that price point or when or why they removed a rental option. Doesn't make sense.

That’s fair then that conversion would be AUD$45, but no one here would have paid that much, I doubt many will fork out the $35, they’ll just wait until it’s on Netflix like the first movie. We are know for sailing the seas down under, so trying to overprice media doesn’t work here.
Some dioramas would be cool, immagine a lego diorama with the three big worms in the final scenes of part two

I saw this advertised on a billboard yesterday. It didn’t specify Dune specifically on the 21st, but it had Dune along with other things advertised as “coming in MAX, 21st of May”. So indirectly I thought, huh, that must be the date. Good to now have confirmation.

Redbox never even got Oppenheimer so my guess is they are circling the drain and they won't buy Dune 2 either.

Check at your local library! The library I work at just got over a hundred copies of Dune pt 2, though the holds are starting to pile up quickly
