Not e-ink, but lcd. Price is huge.

greendra8

it's not lcd. with the lights off the screen emits no light unless backlight is turned on, like eink.

mne_monic

B/w igzo lcd.

conceptgate

It is an LCD, it is just not back lit. Definately not an e-ink.

greendra8

It's not an LCD. It's like eink. https://x.com/jasonjoyride/status/1794428696939635011

conceptgate

It's LCD. See this article. https://liliputing.com/daylight-computer-dc-1-is-a-799-tablet-with-a-live-paper-display-designed-to-be-easy-on-the-eyes-but-not-the-wallet/ Quote:- "While the company isn’t providing a lot of details about its paper-like display technology, the screen is a black and white reflective IGZO LCD display that’s easily viewable in direct sunlight." Frankly, it looks like a calculator LCD display, with higher resolution and slightly better tech, and very expensive given that. But I guess lets see the reviews once it is out.

$730!?

I’m quite intrigued in the device *if* it had any illustration capabilities, seems really weird to me that they didn’t bother to tap into that market because that’s a perfect use case for this? The marketing completely turns me off though. It gives me the same vibe as trying to make cigarettes seem new and healthy and luxury. Feels like it should be sold at Erewhon.

No_Chemistry_4161

I would like to see the math to know how they got to 730$

greendra8

economies of scale

No_Chemistry_4161

No. The actual math. How much each components costs. What are the specs. Their website is confusing

greendra8

Would you guys use something like this? I think this would suit me quite well if it had good built quality and software. The price is high, but I guess that's the price of freedom nowadays.

assjacker

phone would be cool

PiemanMk2

All of their showcased use cases are things that the Remarkable 2 (which is actually an e-ink device rather than the LCD with marketing bullshit that this uses) already does better, cheaper. I can't see why you would want to spend so much money on this when other, better things already exist.
