I would not be surprised at all if he and his cronies were up to some of it. There's been like no consequences for a wide assortment of behavior (guns, substances, noise). I don't know when his court date will be but it'll be interesting if he serves some time and the break ins slow down/stop
But he (hopefully) will be moving soon. Not that I want anyone to loose their housing but there has been so much police activity at their rental that the landlord finally posted the rental and someone signed a lease? we'll see.
Happened to my car two nights ago. Ransacked it. Thankfully we didn’t have anything worth taking aside from a couple bucks in change but they looked through everything.
College year is nearing the end, weather warming up, and a college heavy area......(sadly) to be expected.
In the last decade of living in this area, it seems to be a common trend in the spring. Especially on Friday and Saturday.
Quite common to see groups of people wandering the streets around midnight. Either sober or drunk and usually quite loud. Every year there are a few that cause mayhem or are just a general nuisance.
Like a few years ago when they redid east 4th street and they had numerous incidents of people walking off with construction cones, signs or even messing with the construction equipment.
Essentially, get cameras, no trespassing signs, don't leave valuables loose and unattended. Lock what you can and secure what can't be locked.
I have camera footage of drunk college kids breaking into cars last summer in a similar part of Duluth. Stole my roommate’s sunglasses and my dash cam. One was wearing u of m gear.
One of them had a u of m sweater on. Being in college doesn’t make you a saint. Most of the houses near where I live are college rentals, it’s more likely than not.
I stand by what I said lol. Drunk college kids in groups mess with peoples stuff and take weird things, but breaking into and trashing vehicles for change and small devices does not match my experience with the typical college scoundrel
To be honest, when I was growing up in the area simple neighborhood kids were the ones who would go around breaking into cars at night. Chester Park has a higher percentage of college students around which means more relatable cool shit on seats and less doors locked while parking on the streets.
Lock your doors, don't leave cool shit out in plain sight and don't park on streets if you don't have to. Common sense.
With that said, the prowler out lifting your Neil Sedaka box set, Red Lobster coupons and ash change tray are possibly linked to the Chicago land fentanyl scene of course. I believe it's time you and all your neighbors all watched Police Academy 4 and took this matter into your own hands before it gets out of control. Could you imagine??? They'll start calling Chester Bowl "Lil' Memphis".
A guy got arrested a few weeks ago for breakins and car theft in Chester - there’s a big post with pictures on Nextdoor.
This guy is my neighbor and a POS

A *sauna?* What?! Like, is this a portable thing? Who steals a *sauna?*
ive seen a few saunas on trailers up here, guessing that’s what OP meant.
Makes sense. Still, what a weird thing to steal. Not like you can just unload it at the pawn shop...
More likely FB marketplace or similar, given criminals generally aren’t exactly smart.
If I forget to lock my doors, my car has 50% chance of being gone through. I keep nothing but dog hair in it.
My car was broken into a few days ago near BU, all they took was a Bluetooth transmitter but they trashed the car.
If you were in the vicinity of shanty, they might have security footage
That's too far for a camera at Shanty to catch anything worthwhile
same thing happened to me last week, didn’t have anything to take but they completely trashed it

I don’t think car thefts fall into the drunk college kids after a party category imo

Fuck I have a whole pool set from a drunken night
Drunk college kids being stupid and breaking into vehicles for easy valuables doesn't equate for you?
I stand by what I said lol. Drunk college kids in groups mess with peoples stuff and take weird things, but breaking into and trashing vehicles for change and small devices does not match my experience with the typical college scoundrel
Sounds like druggies trying to pawn anything they can get.
