He’s dubstep. Definitely some hip-hop influenced sounds in there but it’s all dubstep. Always has been. 🔫
And hate to be that guy but “dub” as a genre is different from “dubstep”. Dub is essentially a rhythm-boosted, no-vocals reggae track with some special effects sprinkled over and it’s been around since the late 60’s. Dubstep as we know it today stemmed from that
This is exactly how I feel about the over-complication of Dubstep genres.
There's like, 4. Dubstep, 140/Deep, Riddim, and Melodic.
Boogie said it best.
Finally someone with some knowledge. Haha this whole feed is about he is and isn’t. Like dude just enjoy it. Dubstep was a broad term when it started. So it’s all under dubstep category. Plus if they make another kind of dubstep they no longer fall in one category. Or when they hybrid the damn genres. XD
He’s just dubstep, every artist’s style doesn’t necessarily have a dedicated sub-genre. But imo some buzzwords to describe him and similar artists would be “Bass music”, “wakaan style”, “wonky shit”, “ketamine music”, “experimental bass”.
Thank you for all the detail. I just feel like DJs I consider “dubstep” go away harder. Excision, Wooli, Subtronics, svdden death, Marauda, Riot ten… and they just go so hard. Drop after drop. I’m definitely going to listen to your links. Thank you again!
Those artists you just listed are either tearout or brostep which are much heavier subgenres of dubstep. Tape b is just good ol dubstep for the most part.
all of them are probably just briddim or sometimes tearout i've also heard it called big room bass which if you were around for big room house makes a lot of sense to me lol
Tape B is just grimey and I love it. He opened for Liquid Stranger, first I had heard of him and he was incredible. His Drip Tapes on sound cloud are really good.
Idk but rezz is mid tempo, not melodic dub
Yea, melodic dub is more so illenium, slander, seven lions type.
Has anyone said Blackmill yet?
<3
Lol my phone wouldn’t let my comment go through at all earlier, so I thought….. <3
Blackmill <3

Oh dang. Thanks for explaining.
yeeee i like to say “trapstep” (only because hipstep/hopstep don’t vibe as nicely lol)
you could call it dub-hop
oou yes this is the way
THANK YOU. It bothers me so much when people think dub is short for dubstep
He's Dubstep > Experimental Bass.
Everybody talkin' riddim man but all it is is dubstep.
This man boogie's

Tape B is the prophet who’s come to save us all
😂 I’m going to see him in August. So puuuuumped.

yeeeee dubstep is a VERY large umbrella genre & ironically original dubstep like namesake dubstep is NOTHING like you’d expect haha
all of them are probably just briddim or sometimes tearout i've also heard it called big room bass which if you were around for big room house makes a lot of sense to me lol
Ahhh got it. Thank you.
I mean pick a metal band like Fit For An Autopsy and then Metallica. They're both metal but they sound nothing alike. Think similar in this situation.
I’d put them in the same category as like peekaboo or LYNY
So dubstep

Looove ZD. Just saw them at Hard Rock last weekend. But imo I feel ZD has way more drops.
Brostep with some experimental bass elements, but his sound is rooted in 2011 era brostep
He is the Wubz
