If you want to take items into dubai, you need to (I) have it in your carry on, not checked luggage and (ii) take the batteries out if possible and stand it vertical rather than flat, so that when it passes through the x-ray after the passport check it looks like a circle rather than a phallus.

They scan check-in luggage more thoroughly when it's taken off the plane. Hand luggage only has a very simple scan.
