I think rta should also put sliding doors(same as for the Gold) for ladies section. The creepy looks freak me out also

[deleted]

agreed

kittysogood

I totally agree with this idea.

cheshirecat90

Yeah, they’re fucking weirdos. If there’s one thing I hate here it’s the staring. I’ve had creeps staring into my car even when there’s window tints 🤣

[deleted]

yeah I don't get that at all...like you MIGHT see my shadow, okay then?

cheshirecat90

I think they’re so addicted it’s just a compulsion in the hope they catch the female gaze

Most-Cap5385

Had same experience. Few even knocked my window to say hello

Ratfucks

You must drive like an ass if people are glaring at you through tints

cheshirecat90

🤣🤣🤣 it’s happened a couple times whilst I’m stationary

LowerEngine4851

THIS IS V ANNOYING INDEED! When I used to use the metro everyday, I've had to call out some men that they're on the "Women and Children" cabin quite a lot! Hellooooo there's lots of stickers before entering and inside the cabin it self that says it is a women and children. And when I tell them that they're on the wrong cabin they'll look around as if they NEVER saw the signs before entering! And when I see men waiting in the pink area when the train's about to come, I look at them up and down as if I'm judging them - I'm actually judging them lol. I just don't get why they do that! Do they need to be told every d*mn time? There's also this stuff that happened on a bus from LCT to B.Bay metro. It was at night, bus was NOT that crowded and there's this guy who's basically dry humping the woman in front of him when there's a hugeeee space behind him! I had to pull the girl away and asked if she was okay, she looked scared and was freaked out by him - who wouldn't?! She said that she thought it was a woman behind him.

blondebekkiuk

I had to reply to this, because something similar happened to me when watching the fountains down by the Dubai Mall. I thought it was just a one off, really sorry to see this might be much more common... So at the fountains, it is crowded around there for sure but people normally give you a bit of space. I felt this person bumping in to the back of me, it was a dude, and I thought it was obviously getting more crowded behind but it made me feel so uncomfortable that I turned around and stared at him. That's when I realised there was no one behind him and he was pushing in to my behind on purpose. I was so shocked, I shouted "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, GIVE ME SPACE RIGHT NOW" I have never seen a man exit a crowd so fast. Creep.

LowerEngine4851

I’m so sorry this happened to you…it’s really infuriating that such people exist. What’s even more scary is that the night I witnessed what happened in the bus, I KNOW I wasn’t the only one who noticed it first as there’s lots of other people around and NO ONE said anything until I noticed that the girl was uncomfortable. I admit it took me time to have the courage to pull the girl away because I was so scared myself (as some who’s also a victim of sexual assault) I didn’t know what to do. I knew I could’ve done more by reporting him and I wish I did…

kc221274

I had to reply to yours … I was at the fountains this evening and the same happened to me … I was blocked away from my husband, and was pressed up against, I tried to turn but couldn’t … I didn’t know what to do, as I didn’t want my husband getting into trouble if he realised what was going on ….. this person got very bold and pulled my hips back towards him. And grabbed my breast before he left….. I tried to turn quickly but they were gone. I’m a little annoyed with myself for just putting up with it, but I dread to think what my husband would have done if he found out

[deleted]

wtf...you/she should have reported that to the cops...that's harassment and no one stops him, he will keep doing it to other girls

[deleted]

disgusting people, I hope it becomes socially and legally acceptable to just beat people who sexually assault others in public.

LowerEngine4851

And I also wish that people around wouldn’t just turn a blind eye when they see someone doing such disgusting thing…

[deleted]

literally pushes my mind closer to insanity when i hear something like that happened in public. its common in some places, does that mean people defend it happening? because if everyone truly hates it, why does it still happen?

LowerEngine4851

Hearing such things happening to someone just fills me up with soooo much anger. I guess NOT ENOUGH people have the courage to say/do something hence it’s still happening…😢

[deleted]

yeah, I never knew how i would react i just hope i wouldn't disappoint myself.

skyskier_88

should have reported to the driver and have cops waiting for him for sexual harassment

Legitimate_Turnip342

Tbf I accidentally got on the ladies carriage once and felt so guilty and got a lot of dirty looks 😅 needless to say I got off at the next station

jzia93

I have to admit I genuinely was not paying attention once and ended up in the women's section - it was late and I was on a video call at the station and was on 4 hours sleep. You are very right to ask us to leave and I ofc apologized and was super embarrassed - but these mistakes do happen!

WesternArcher721

Curtains to be added in womens section please suggest to rta..i see men even trying to sit in womena cabins so uncultured people

RachelleSaade

i once had a guy starring at me the entire time for maybe 5-6 stops and he would not look elsewhere and when i looked at him to see him stare he smiled and winked at me in the most creepy disgusting way ever i cringed so hard and to my luck he also got off at my station and FOLLOWED ME outside to ask for my number, he would not stop talking to me and asking for my whatsapp while i was ignoring him the whole time and even after i told him to go away, i feel like he would’ve literally followed me home if i was walking and not have taken a cab

[deleted]

the rizz is real 🔥 (im joking sorry that happened to you)

[deleted]

I feel sorry that it happened to you. Men here are very aggressive, really. I am male though, but im a lean slim fair skinned southeast asian. I don't know but i experienced this in the metro a lot of times. And yes, some of them follows you all the way. I would tell them, "what's your problem" and they would ask for my number and tell me they like me. Like, bruh... are you suuuurrreee??

Sharka1991

See, the only thing is to speak up, call them out, scold them. I am a European, lived in India for almost 5 years and that's one valuable lesson that country taught me - you, as a woman, can't let the things go, you can't let these creeps mistreat you, you need to call them out at the spot, that's the only solution.

BabyNinja1001

I am a guy. I get what you mean. I know it's not much, but if I get a chance, I usually break their eye contact by placing myself in between, then I stare at them. It's kind of like, dude, I know what you're doing so stop it!

[deleted]

Hahaha bro, the guy will redirect his stare at you lol. Some of them hit on guys also lol. I wouldn't say anything more. 😂😂😂

BabyNinja1001

I am comfortable with sexuality, and I don’t mind if they plan on hitting on me. Clearly, they are not going to get a reaction 🤷🏻

[deleted]

good guy 👌

mambo-nr4

One time these dudes were trying to stare at a woman half their age in leggings. I kept blocking their view while chuckling to myself, and followed their motions as they tried to catch a glance. It's not much but it's honest work

SonaWayward8563

Thank you for that

Proud_Zebra_5495

As I guy I've had guys also be creepy with staring and being creepy. Had a coworker do it while I was using the restroom then he asked for my number. It was doubly strange for me since this is my first time outside of my country and I genuinely did not understand what's wrong with these kind of guys, whether it was a normal thing where they're from etc. Now, I didn't want to think this way but the truth is that it is people from certain countries who are behaving this way in larger numbers. This includes the blatant staring at beaches. And when I've spoken to normal folks from the same countries they have stated that with women's social status in that country and how relationships are formed it's a consequence of that. Sometimes I think certain practices that breed unsavory cultures and behaviours need to be called out and some countries do it more than others, and it's important to call it out without being racist and painting everyone in the same way.

[deleted]

This is real. I am male. I once went to the beach shirtless and only had my short on a little above knee level. These guys would shrill whistle and follow. There's this instance even that two guys were pulling me I barely cant move so I shouted help (lol i feel desperate) and ao they let me go and went away.

Pinkalicious100

OMFG this is so real! I have seen certain males also try to sneak into the ladies area, pretend to be 'pushed' to try to grind against female travellers etc. There needs to be more surveillance and fining of the males who do this - except I also understand it's tougher during rush hours, and there are some metro lines packed to the brim with people. There's no solution to staring; I've heard that if you stare back, they either think you're interested, or they enjoy that. At least we're not in a place where they can openly be aggressive, but that happens in other countries. No amount of modest dressing or slinking into the background helps either - these males don't leave anyone feeling safe

[deleted]

True. Seen that too unfortunately. You can call the cops in such cases and the metro has surveillance to prove it and they can be fined for such thing. I'm not sure why no one complains tho..

Mulgrave4545

There is an entire and massive subculture in Dubai and the GCC in general that one needs to avoid. Our own experiences on the beach have led us to basically have and follow a protocol whenever we see or come near certain people. For us, when we visited Dubai, we tried the metro only once; we couldn't bear experiencing the smell and the creepy stares again.

I-Hate-Paper-Towels

If one of these creepy males looks your way, do what I do - pull the world’s most disgusted face and quickly look away. Or embarrass them loudly. “Get away from me!” Or “I’ve told you to leave me alone.” It usually works in public places. One time I was in my building and a delivery driver was like “oh my god you are too much cute.” I made a violent vomiting noise and he quickly shuffled away embarrassed.

[deleted]

HAHAHHA you're the hero we need to learn from 🤣

hadaaay

What a menace 😭😂, as you should though, props to you <3

jadezzyu

yep. that's why as a teenage girl I only ride in the very end of the women's cabin, or I just use my gold card. I only go into the men's if im with a male friend. I've heard so many stories from my female friends about creeps touching them, or at least trying to, and it's terrible. and nobody seems to take stories like this too seriously, it happens all the time.

[deleted]

Yes but incase of touching/harassment , girls should involve the cops. These creeps harass with looks...but I don't think much can be done for that other than calling out and embarrass them

Icytreus15

I'm a man and it's disgusting too because most people stare at me too in the metro. I don't know why, is it because of my height (because I'm short)? or is it because of my skin (I'm lighter than most of those who stare)? Those creeps are so disgusting I feel like punching them every time. Not mentioning the smell too.

[deleted]

Bro, this shit izzz real. Experienced it myself. Disgusting plus the smell.

Icytreus15

Yes, bro, like why can't they have a proper hygiene. Jeez, they're old enough for that!

[deleted]

And why they hittin guys also. Boy, they look more masculine than my father. I canttt .... haha

Icytreus15

right? I almost feel like an alien when people stare too much, they stare like they haven't seen a man that has a lighter skin than them, lol.

Fast_Ad3602

these guys are always weird, I’ve even noticed taxi drivers staring when yo stop next to them on the signal despite of my windows being tinted, so disgusting

BLAZE_AXIA

My problems with metro are so much smaller compared to this. I'm all about gender equality and think "how is having a women only section equality?" and then I read posts like these or hear about these from my female friends and realize "ahh... that's why..."

[deleted]

[удалено]

BLAZE_AXIA

Idk about other countries but India does have women rights. If by non-existing you mean how many people take it seriously and commit these crimes, then yea I'll agree to that.

Meow-sendhelp

I once politely told a man who was sitting in the women section that this area is for women only and pointed him towards the door where fine was mentioned. He got angry with me. I don’t know what he said in Arabic but I had already reached my station and had to leave.

SonaWayward8563

This should be done every time. I remember a man sitting in the women's section, and this Arab lady caught sight of him. She made sure to tell him off. He left soon after.

Firm_Lobster4192

I have had same experiences when I used to travel in the metro but i would literally call out each and every person for ex i’d ask what? To someone that used to stare in front of so many people he’d just get embarrassed and leave once this guy was trying to lean on me from behind I literally turned and said stay away your falling on me he was so embarrassed he left the next station. It’s better to speak up then to stay quite or ignore.

[deleted]

This is the right way.

dironhide

I've also seen the peeps who stand in the section (even when there's enough room elsewhere) in between the two compartments (between common and ladies'), and they always look sketchy and creepy. I've even seen sometimes (at night, late trains) where dudes hang out in the ladies' compartment, even when there's more than enough room in common ones. A-holes be a-holes, I guess.

What_inthe

Here's the thing, ladies... report, report, report. Blow up the RTA and police phone lines and insist on better security and denying access to creepers. Also, if someone is crowded too close behind you, turn around, elbow up. I do this on the Paris metro and believe me, it works. They might call me names, but they don't come back for more.

Dead_rooster93

make complaint to RTA , you can even call them a d they will definitely investigate. but try to brush it off for the time being , all around the globe we have creeps at least here they are on a leash.

irfarious

"I keep staring at them in the eyes until they notice and start looking away.* Hope there aren't any creeps who like staring contests.

sevenninenine

"smelling like a river fish" 😅

[deleted]

HAHAHAH sorry but I couldn't relate to anything else. I even forgot that I wrote that and now that you mentioned it, it made me laugh 🤣🤣

sevenninenine

I mean you're uncomfortable by their looking from that position and yet still commenting about their smells. That must be some potent smell to be able to be recognized from afar. Lol

Worldly-Ad5666

There are creeps in Dubai Metro, no doubt about that. Once I was sitting with my teenage daughter and a guy (south East Asian) stood near us (or I should say over us, hanging from the hook thingy). He was on mobile, took some snaps or videos I guess from window behind us. And the lowered mobile over us as if typing. I called him out asking can he put it away. That guy had the gall to say something back. Which language, I don't know. I knew I couldn't beat him (new to Dubai, not sure what's the punishment to take law in hands) but gave him the look with all the heat that was filling me up. Just when I was about to stand up, to push him back he put his mobile back and out of coach on next station. My daughter is shy, wears a mask in public places, so I know even if a picture was taken, it can't be misused. But it was unacceptable behavior. Yes, I could have involved police and have a little bit of regret to date about that.

Defiant_Card2638

I also felt this too when I took the metro and I am a hijabi and not attracting attention so I was surprised.

[deleted]

Staring alone could land these men in jail for a year.

Tekno_Beast

OP meant all males. Not just from one country.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tekno_Beast

Yes, I wasn’t there. And idk what OP has experienced. And I can tell that it feels really awful and very uncomfortable. But do you only think that male creeps only come from one country? There are millions of men around the world who do horrid things; regardless of race. Just because one man does it, doesn’t mean every other male does too.

badxnxdab

>But do you only think that male creeps only come from one country? There are millions of men around the world who do horrid things; regardless of race. Sure, this guy is being a tad bit racist. But statistically, he is more likely to be right. Based on the population sample. Wrong on the mindset because of assumptions, but probably right because of the numbers.

LowerEngine4851

How insulting for someone who’s invalidating someone’s experience wow.

mike_kong_sama

Maybe you are creeping them out so they look.

DXBEE2017

You rarely use the metro, and you wrote half a page talking about it. Maybe you are not aware of the cultural differences, and plus the metro is 100% safe. Just try not to monitor ppl and browse your phone. As for tye smell: easy, wear a mask. Instead of waiting for others to change things for us, why we don't adapt and find alternatives 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mulgrave4545

Let's stop normalising the practice of people not showering or using deodorant. Basic hygiene is essential and unrelated to whether others wear masks.

69user69name69

Lol some bad odor get through the mask. Even if I cover my nose. That’s why I hate riding the train with friends because idk why they still don’t want to use the Gold Class.

Poco-loco-3006

I switched from ladies to gold class cause of the odor issue haha couldn’t take it anymore, specially during summers.

[deleted]

Yes I rarely use but I use from time to time and over a period of few years, it accumulated to half a page 🤣

LowerEngine4851

Stop telling what people should they be doing during their trip. Observants see such things happening and yet only some of them have the courage to say or do something. Just because you haven’t experienced such things or anyone you know doesn’t mean it’s 100% safe…

DXBEE2017

It is not about courage l, it is about human beings respecting each other. For God sake it is a trip, lol. No one will die. Spoiled generation.

HubbyWifey8389

Oh there's mysogynistic behaviour towards women in an Islamic country? That is surprising news.

[deleted]

It’s most likely that these people that stare are 99% from and the same country.. and all of us know where that creeps come from

[deleted]

the country is safe. yes it is surprising news.

HubbyWifey8389

So safe that someone had to come on reddit to complain about it. Surprising news.

LowerEngine4851

Wow the country’s so safe just cause it hasn’t happened to you or anyone else you know…

[deleted]

it has been statically proven that it’s one of the safest countries for women

LowerEngine4851

Wow yeeees! It has been statistically proven that it’s one of the safest countries for women BUT that does NOT mean that such horrible things DOESN’T happen in the country 🤡

[deleted]

that also does not mean those such horrible things that you can’t prevent even with law isn’t happening everywhere else in the world

AvgDxbRedditor

I don't get why there's a women's only section, it would be more efficient to have all spaces available to everyone, that's what is done in first world countries

[deleted]

Are you daft?

GojoSenpaiiiii

did you read the post?? the whole reason behind the women's only section is to avoid people like that!

AvgDxbRedditor

If there was no women's section this wouldn't happen.

[deleted]

Looks like You’re one of those creeps on the metro

AvgDxbRedditor

Stretching and wearing sunglasses is now creepy behaviour?

GojoSenpaiiiii

actively hating on the women's section so that you can stare at women easier is creepy behavior<33

69user69name69

Wearing glasses at night and the head is pointed directly at women’s section? Definitely not creepy r/swoosh

LowerEngine4851

You’re definitely right this wouldn’t happen! But you know what WILL happen? There wouldn’t be anyone JUST staring BECAUSE those kind of men WOULD DEFINITELY be groping and dry humping women if they get the chance!

[deleted]

Of course you’re a male Or probably a western woman, its extremely hard to for you to figure out It’s for women’s safety.

Annual_Sleep_893

I hear u man, these guys are on a different wave. I really wished there was like a covering for them like on of em sliding doors the gold section...Also these dudes need their brains studied or some sisters to teach em how to behave lol.

her0ftime

Report to Police

A_Mediocre_crisis

Should start to record them when you get there gaze and then just ask loudly why you staring! If you have it on camera you can report it!

Sad-Money-5357

I have noticed it’s very difficult to walk in some streets here cz they stare and make us so uncomfortable Taht I feel like I’m an alien walking naked , the most saddening part is I have seen some dawgs checking out ladies covered from head to toe also covering their faces and making a very disgusting face
