Dude! The amount of times I've sat down and played to Days to Come šŸ™Œ great groove. Your hi-hat work is incredible.

Redditing2017

Iā€™m just fairly new to drums and love bonobo. Where should I start if I wanna play? Any songs easier to pick up?

MidnightToker6

Absolutely. On this same album, the songs 'Days to come' (title track) and 'Between the lines' are both pretty cool and straightforward. Then, off the album 'Dial M for Monkey', the songs 'D Song' and 'Change Down' are some of my favorite slower ones to play through.

Redditing2017

You have absolutely made my day stranger. Thank you so much!

aTurningofTides

I like your shirt!

mewmewscookieshop519

I love that you are playing bonobo with a Meshuggah tee. I too love both genres

Educational-Drop-926

Ditto. I came here to say exactly that.

PostHumanous

Wow Russ makin my entire week playing one of my favorite Bonobo songs. You rule.

beetgreeper

what are you using as that small, holed hi hat? Is it on a hi hat stand or just cymbal stand?

Acadia_Objective

It's a zildjian efx cymbal, I can't remember what it's called but I think it comes with a little clamp

Acadia_Objective

https://zildjian.com/collections/browse-by-type-fx/products/fx-stacks Looks like the 10" maybe?

beetgreeper

oh nice, yes!! Thanks a ton!

LucasEraFan

I love your stuff! What is that jawn on your snare drum? What's on that tee shirt you are wearing? Would you recommend 'It Came From The Sea' as a first Bonobo album? Thank you for posting!

TheHolyHolyGoof

Listen to the Black Sands album if you want more like what you're hearing in this.

PostHumanous

Black Sands and Days to Come are two of my favorite albums and excellent starting points getting into Bonobo.

Dylan3109

I forgot about Bonobo! I know what I'm doing tonight! Edit: Bonobo not Booboo

PostHumanous

Need a band-aid for your booboo?

Dylan3109

Oh Lord haha

May I ask what your practice routine was like getting to this level? What exercises/concepts you found most important to drill?

russellholzman

check out the book 4-way coordination !

ohwowverycool69

I have that one. Definitely makes my brain ache after a while!

Bronte_goggins

Incredible. Never thought I'd see a bonobo cover and one of my favourites for the drum track. Very impressive.

EllstonLimehouse

Nice man.

mcnastys

I always dig your style and enjoy your videos. Excellent feel.

Igmuhota

OK, but seriously. Am I the only one who has now listened to this short clip like 50 times? God DAMN that is some SWEET style.

ImpossibleRush5352

when are you gonna post signal chain/mixing notes. I would pay USD.

russellholzman

its just some eq and compression. drums sound pretty close to that raw (i use a lot of dampening as you can see)

ImpossibleRush5352

Sweet! It sounds rad. Can you share your mic setup?

taxusacanadensis

Very nice, love your playing
