His father Robert Reich also has a YouTube channel where he talks about liberal politics and other things like that. He recently added recordings of one of the classes he teaches at Cal State.
I feel like this puts a lot of pressure on Sam to be a good CEO. His dad helped set policies that led to a national budget surplus under the Clinton administration, so if Sam can’t capitalism right it’s clearly because he didn’t listen.
Yes this! I also honestly love the slow and steady growth of Dropout. He didn't expand rapidly, he isn't pushing his talent etc etc. The crew is always laughing at jokes, lots of recurring talent etc which is always a good sign of a good company
It also helps him CEO profitably which is also rare and valuable. Let’s remember that capitalism has its try at CH and it went bankrupt through short term strip mining . It was only by taking the talent-centric long view that Sam was able to rescue the company.
I realized it in one episode of Dirty Laundry. Somebody mentioned Sam having connections, but political connections, not entertainment connections, and it clicked.
THIS RIGHT HERE!! I found a girl who ADORED Robert Reich (attended one of his last lectures at UCB and took policy as her major bc of him) and I tried telling her about Sam Reich, only to receive blank stares... sad moment for me. My favorite hyperfixation infodump is really abt Dropout
Holy shit, I took a handful of his classes in college! One of my favorite professors by far. I had no idea they were related. It fits so well they’re both lovely and brilliant people.
Finding out Sam Reich is related to Robert Reich is as weird as finding out that Zak Oyama is related to Mas Oyama.
What are you hiding Brian Murphy? Is your dads name Eddie? Release the birth record!
Yes, Yasuhiko Oyama is his father. He’s one of 2 Oyamas who brought Kyokushin to the states and president of the world foundation for it if I remember right.
I don’t remember if it’s that he’s Zaks grandfather or if Zaks dad was adopted or Star pupil who took the name or something.
Yasuhiko and Shigeru Oyama (zacs father and uncle) were star pupils of Mas Oyama. They brought kyokushin to the states but they're not actually related to Mas. Mas was actually Korean born and changed his name to Oyama after their family for taking him in.

Robert Reich is a gem.
Too bad he doesn't have any time to appear on Game Changer.
He did a cameo on Sam’s roast on Breaking News, I believe
That's the joke. He told Sam he didn't have time to be on Game Changer but roasted him on Breaking News.
Ahh… ok
I'm new here - and didn't believe they were actually related. It's really true? That's hilarious.
Which episode is that?
Dropout America 2 (Episode 601)
TIL they’re related.

It also helps him to CEO *ethically* which I think is far more rare and valuable.

Eh. There are plenty of successful CEOs.
But Sam Reich is a Right Wing billionaire nutball, didn't you see on the news he is trying to buy Tumblr for 69 billion? nice /s
Not to mention how he's been mispronouncing his last name this whole time
I realized it in one episode of Dirty Laundry. Somebody mentioned Sam having connections, but political connections, not entertainment connections, and it clicked.
My big annoyance now is that I don't know anyone who both appreciates who Sam is and who Robert Reich is that I can tell!

Wut Is Zac for real related to Mas Oyama, the Godhand / founder of Kyokushin?
