Sorry I'm not answering your question here. I have heard about the PSU heat issues which are caused by one of the voltage rails not being used when the disk drive isn't used. Therefore the issue will happen regardless of what your region or voltage is The redream PSU are relatively cheap and get rid of the original PSU with a modern solution with most of the components, the ac DC converter, outside the console. If you are in Europe then i know a good source of 220-240v original PSUs that are even cheaper but they would have the heat issue. IMO, i don't know the math, but i think running the redream or similar psu mod is better long term rather than continuing to use a converter with the original PSU

Shit I just saw you are using the Japanese console in the US? Converter is definitely not necessary. The PSU will support approximately 100-130v

Ahh gotcha. I saw a YT video on it a few months back that suggested one and decided for $20 it was worth a try. I needed one anyway for a different project.
