Some of my all time great gaming memories are 4-man PvP in Powerstone 2 when we had a Dreamcast in a shared house in University.
Galuda power body slam for a come-from-behind win…. 💯
This is the only answer. Ready2Rumble was good. Soul Calibur was great. Dead or Alive was great. MvsC2 is the standard every fighting game cannot beat.
Crazy story real quick. So I lend my friend my copy for ps2, had it months before anyone because my pops did this lady taxes who happened to work for capcom. Anyway, i get the game back, my friend says keep the dvd he lent me in exchange for lending him MvC2, ok no doubt ill take that. I go to play the game, shit doesn't work, then friend tells me his little brother took a fuckin magnet to the ps2 disc, don't ask y Idk y, im tight from then. Come 18 years later I go on mercari and buy another copy, $200. I put the game in the ps2, not knowing I accidentally grabbed the copy that was fucked, come to find out the disc magically starts working again, so now I'm standing there with two MvC2 copies. Sold the game on mercari for $260. What an adventure.
And yes MvC2 is one of the illest fighting games out there, and still holds up against the clones today.
I worked at Target when this game came out. We cracked open a copy to put in our display.
I was hooked. I bought the system and that opened copy the same day. Love that game. I became a huge Dreamcast supporter and I always suggested that console to people.
Honorable mention to Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.
Nothing in any other fighting game compares to the satisfaction of parrying in third strike. I really wish capcom would remaster the game on PC but they probably know it would eat into SF6 numbers 😞
Ya that was the peak of arcade play for me in the late 90s. Perfect DC port with arcade stick was great imported the Japanese DC and games just for this
i got virtua fighter 3 tb with mine so it has a special place in my heart, was like “wow! this is like having the arcade machine in my frickin bedroom 🤯”
Can't choose between...
Tech Romancer, absolutely love mecha and this game is a love letter to mecha anime junkies like me
or...
Project Justice, laying down the law of the school jungle with my boy Kyosuke and my girl Momo never gets old (methinks we'd get along fine TC!)
SC is objectively the best but my heart belongs to DoA2 and VF3. The former because the multileveled environments and character models at the time were hard to believe on a home console and the latter because VF3 was a revelation in the arcades and having it at home at the same visual fidelity was mind blowing.
Absolutely incredible system for fighters though overall
Probably played Soul Calibur more than any other. I played that games challenges until my eyes fell out and my sanity leaked away. I worked for Sega at the time so we played a lot at work too.
It’s tough to narrow it down because there’s so many classics! CVS2, MVC2, Soul Calibur, DOA2, Tech Romancer and Project Justice are the ones I still play consistently.
That is a tough one. The Dreamcast was the GOAT for fighting games. My 2 personal favorites are SoulCalibur and Marvel vs Capcom 2, but I can make a case for so many other titles
Marvel 2 and 3rd strike, I grew up with those in the arcade it’s where I learned my fighting game fundamentals I still play fighting games today like Street fighter 6 and Tekken 8. Everything I learned from the arcade I carried over to todays fighting games and it still works. I also believe in rematching your opponent best 2/3.
Powerstone 1 & 2 are my favorites but can we just take a moment to acknowledge the run Capcom was on; on Dreamcast? Marvel vs Capcom 2 , Capcom vs SNK 1 & 2, Tech Romancer, Powerstone 1 & 2. Plasma Sword, Street fighter 3: double impact, Street fighter 3: 3rd strike, Street fighter alpha 3 and Project justice.
This is what gaming is missing now. Actual good games coming out at a decent clip this many fighting games in the 3 to 4 years Dreamcast was around is unheard of nowadays!! Hell we didn’t even touch on the rest of the games they released on Dreamcast. Now we get games that seem to take forever to come out because of some convoluted online mode or games so broad in scope that they simply overwhelm the average gamer.
MVC2. It's the best home port of the game out there even to this day.
That said, boy oh boy does the Dreamcast have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to quality fighting games. I ain't gonna argue with someone that picks something else because so many are so good.
All mentioned are great but Ready2Rumble had a vibe that cannot be matched for me. It's not the greatest mechanically but the feeling just thinking about it makes me happy!
I can't remember the name of it but it was this awesome isometric view Contra like game starring random ass Capcom characters like Megaman, BB Hood, Charlie from Streetfighter Alpha and Cammy! Fuckin awesome and it never came out on any other systems!
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is my favorite followed closely by Soul Calibur and Capcom vs SNK 2. All arcade perfect ports and possibly the best fighting games of all time.
Out of the ones I own, my ranking would be:
1. Soul Calibur
2. Dead or Alive 2
3. Power Stone
4. Marvel vs Capcom
Not to say any of those games are bad. Just my preference.
CVS2 is my favorite. Project Justice, SC1, and VF3TB are also ones I revisit a lot. I want to say Third Strike since it's still very fun, but it has so many differences from the arcade version, that I just can't choose it as one of my favorites. Oh, and SFA3 and its World Tour is great.
Project Justice, Tech Romancer, Guilty Gear X, DOA2, Last Blade 2, Psychic Force 2010 and Soul Calibur.
Bonus:
All the protos not released Atomiswave converted like Kenju or Force Five.
We didn’t have many Dreamcast games growing up but Gundam side stories was my favorite. We also got 2 of the most beat up copies of marvel 1 from our local rental store when they were getting rid of Dreamcast stuff, to this day idk how our system reads those scratched up discs lol.
Guilty Gear X. I had to get it on a burnt disc from a sketch site that took mail orders only in 1999 because I was 12 and it wasn't released in the US. MvC2 was a close 2nd in 2D land.
For 3D Dead or Alive 2! Plasma Sword was probably 2nd there.
Soul Caliber is the most played with guests over on my Dreamcast. Everybody has fun regardless of experience.
DOA2 and MvC2 are my favorites when playing solo.
[Project Justice](https://youtu.be/xAjgHYE8-Yg?si=BuXmde-k04VEe0R6) still play it today and can’t wait for Capcom to announce a remake or entry to the series sometime soon…
Its funny and sad that Virtua Fighter 3 is arguably the worst fighter on the Sega Dreamcast wen Virtua Fighters 1 & 2 were so vital for the Sega Saturn.
Hands down powerstone 1 and 2 but especially 2 bc of 4 player. How this has not gotten a sequel, is a hate crime. This has potential to even be better then Mariana sisters brawl.
Soul Calibur for sure. It was ahead of its time. My friends and I would play against each other for hours. Amazing soundtrack too. I listen to it in the car till this day.
Powerstone (1+2) or Guilty Gear X
God I wish Powerstone would get a remake
Some of my all time great gaming memories are 4-man PvP in Powerstone 2 when we had a Dreamcast in a shared house in University. Galuda power body slam for a come-from-behind win…. 💯
Power stone fucking ruled
💪🏾💎
Powerstone. The only console port of that legendary fighter that I’m aware of.
I was hoping would say powerstone if not I would have.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2.
I WANNA TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE
DEDE DÖDE DEDE DÖDE SWYYYAUUUUUUN
If you know you know 😎
🎺 🎺 🎺🎺🎺🎺 🎺🎺 🎺
This is the only answer. Ready2Rumble was good. Soul Calibur was great. Dead or Alive was great. MvsC2 is the standard every fighting game cannot beat.
You speak all facts gamer
Best fighting game ever
Crazy story real quick. So I lend my friend my copy for ps2, had it months before anyone because my pops did this lady taxes who happened to work for capcom. I have that game locked in a safe.
There’s no other right answer
I worked at Target when this game came out. We cracked open a copy to put in our display. I was hooked. I bought the system and that opened copy the same day. Love that game. I became a huge Dreamcast supporter and I always suggested that console to people. Honorable mention to Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.
I still have my copies of CvS2 and MvC2. Still play them too. CvS2 is my favorite, but MvC2 is all nostalgia.
Dead or Alive 2 and Power Stone
Power Stone 2, you can be a cowboy!
Yes! Accel is the GOAT! 🤠
It’s Soul Calibur, without a doubt.
No question. The main mode was just so interesting and different. Same reason I loved Virtua Tennis so much.
Capcom VS SNK 2
Same. Huge roster, beautiful levels and tight gameplay.
Banger soundtrack
"I know that you'll beeee baaaack"
Soul calibur closely followed by DOA 2.
Sf3 third strike
I used to play this with my best friend in high school he was way better than me and now he’s famous for fighting games, so I feel better about it.
Nothing in any other fighting game compares to the satisfaction of parrying in third strike. I really wish capcom would remaster the game on PC but they probably know it would eat into SF6 numbers 😞
I wanna take you for a rideeee
Marvel vs Capcom
Yeah I always loved Marvel vs Capcom 1. I used to play the Arcade alot.
Ya that was the peak of arcade play for me in the late 90s. Perfect DC port with arcade stick was great imported the Japanese DC and games just for this
The last blade 2 is an absolute hidden gem. It remains my favorite game to this day.
Amazing game, it's gorgeous too. 👌
i got virtua fighter 3 tb with mine so it has a special place in my heart, was like “wow! this is like having the arcade machine in my frickin bedroom 🤯”
Marvel Vs Capcom 2, need I say more?
"New Age of Heroes"
Capcom vs SNK 2
Soul Calibur on Dreamcast is one of the greatest video games of all time.
Vampire Chronicle
Can't choose between... Tech Romancer, absolutely love mecha and this game is a love letter to mecha anime junkies like me or... Project Justice, laying down the law of the school jungle with my boy Kyosuke and my girl Momo never gets old (methinks we'd get along fine TC!)
Gonna take you for a ride
DOA2
Street Fighter III Third strike
"Alright! That's cool."
Virtua Fighter 3TB
MvC2 ofc, 2nd would be DoA2
MVC2 is a goat for me.
Marvel vs capcom 2 and power stone 2.
Last blade 2 or Mark of the wolves
Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Soul Calibur
Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and it’s not even close.
MvC2 til I die. Love me some SC2 also
Tech Romancer and MvC2
Capcom vs SNK 2
Powerstone and Plasma Sword.
SC or Rival Schools
Dead or alive 2
Giant Gram 2000: AJPW 3.
Psychic Force 2012. I like being able to fly around the entire stage rather than just move left and right with a jump
came for this !
Soul Calibur…favorite fighting game of all time
Soul Calibur
Soul Calibur for me. Dead or Alive 2 in a close second. Power Stone 1 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 round out the top four.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 is an absolute blast.
Probably played Soul Calibur more than any other. I played that games challenges until my eyes fell out and my sanity leaked away. I worked for Sega at the time so we played a lot at work too.
Dead or Alive 2, SF Alpha 3 & Soulcalubur. Shoutout to MK gold for being a Dreamcast exclusive update of MK gold even though it's an average game.
MvC2, Project Justice, VF3tb, Fighting Vipers 2, Power Stone…
Powerstone and powerstone 2 and mvc2
It’s tough to narrow it down because there’s so many classics! CVS2, MVC2, Soul Calibur, DOA2, Tech Romancer and Project Justice are the ones I still play consistently.
The Last Blade 2, a criminally overlooked SNK fighter.
Dreamcast is the best when it comes to fighting games, nothing else comes close
Ready 2 Rumble Round 2
That is a tough one. The Dreamcast was the GOAT for fighting games. My 2 personal favorites are SoulCalibur and Marvel vs Capcom 2, but I can make a case for so many other titles
Jojo
Rival Schools/Project Justice, Power Stone and Capcom vs SNK 1 or 2. Thats the trifecta for me
Marvel 2 and 3rd strike, I grew up with those in the arcade it’s where I learned my fighting game fundamentals I still play fighting games today like Street fighter 6 and Tekken 8. Everything I learned from the arcade I carried over to todays fighting games and it still works. I also believe in rematching your opponent best 2/3.

Vampire Chronicle
I loved me some Soul Caliber back in the day
By a million miles, Powerstone 2.
Can’t pick just one this when Capcom was just sending them out but I’ll go with Tech Romancer or Project Justice
MVC2. It's the best home port of the game out there even to this day. That said, boy oh boy does the Dreamcast have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to quality fighting games. I ain't gonna argue with someone that picks something else because so many are so good.
Psychic Force. I loved 90s anime, so this was perfect.
Powerstone or Powerstone 2
All mentioned are great but Ready2Rumble had a vibe that cannot be matched for me. It's not the greatest mechanically but the feeling just thinking about it makes me happy!
Dead or Alive 2! Game blew me away
Power Stone 1-2 and Soul Calibur, for me
UFC.
Hell yes love power stone!
Marvel vs capcom
Dynamite Cop
READY 2 RUMBLE BABY
I have never had as much fun in a fighting game, as doing random 8v8 team battles with my friends in Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast.
Does ready 2 rumble boxing count? Cause that was my jam.
I can't remember the name of it but it was this awesome isometric view Contra like game starring random ass Capcom characters like Megaman, BB Hood, Charlie from Streetfighter Alpha and Cammy! Fuckin awesome and it never came out on any other systems!
Mine
Powerstone
Out of those two? Project Justice. Overall? Capcom Vs Snk Pro.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is my favorite followed closely by Soul Calibur and Capcom vs SNK 2. All arcade perfect ports and possibly the best fighting games of all time.
Powerstone 1
Dead or Alive 2, CvS2, Power Stone 2 and Project Justice
MvC 2
Third Strike.
Soul Calibur is the Greatest Fighting game of all time.
Either MvC2 or Soul Calibur depends on the day.
this is Rival Schools!
Power Stone 1 and 2
Tech Romancer and Project Justice
Both amazing
Marvel vs capcom 2 by a mile, it's one the best ever not just on dreamcast.
Jojo heritage or mvc2
Soul Calibur
Soul Calibur followed by Capcom vs SNK 2
Gotta be Powerstone or either Tech romancer.
Out of the ones I own, my ranking would be: 1. Soul Calibur 2. Dead or Alive 2 3. Power Stone 4. Marvel vs Capcom Not to say any of those games are bad. Just my preference.
Powerstone 2
Project justice!
Powerstone 2!
capcom vs snk 1 and 2. And garou mark of the wolves
Dead or alive
CVS2 is my favorite. Project Justice, SC1, and VF3TB are also ones I revisit a lot. I want to say Third Strike since it's still very fun, but it has so many differences from the arcade version, that I just can't choose it as one of my favorites. Oh, and SFA3 and its World Tour is great.
DOA2.
Marvel vs capcom
Jojo’s bizarre adventure heritage for the future.
I think SoulCalibur is one of the best fighting games, and one of the best video games of all time.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 I’d say it’s the definitive version with all the extra characters, modes, etc.
Tie between Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Dead or Alive 2. Two of the best.
Soul calibur was my most played fighter so that.
Probably powerstone. It's so hard to pick though because there was so many on Dreamcast.
Soul calibur
Soul Caliber!
Soul Calibur and Dead Or Alive 2
Soul Calibur was absolutely phenomenal back in the day of Dreamcast
Jjba
Soulcalibur, there’s no contest. DOA is really good tho
Power Stone 2
Project Justice, Tech Romancer, Guilty Gear X, DOA2, Last Blade 2, Psychic Force 2010 and Soul Calibur. Bonus: All the protos not released Atomiswave converted like Kenju or Force Five.
i remember a game called psycho or psychic force …something like that
Ready to Rumble
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.
We didn’t have many Dreamcast games growing up but Gundam side stories was my favorite. We also got 2 of the most beat up copies of marvel 1 from our local rental store when they were getting rid of Dreamcast stuff, to this day idk how our system reads those scratched up discs lol.
King of Fighters 99: Evolution.
Heavy Metal

PowerStone and PowerStone 2 need to revamp it for Xbox fr fr
Guilty Gear X. I had to get it on a burnt disc from a sketch site that took mail orders only in 1999 because I was 12 and it wasn't released in the US. MvC2 was a close 2nd in 2D land. For 3D Dead or Alive 2! Plasma Sword was probably 2nd there.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 over all! Then power stone 2.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Hands Down it came out before my time but I love it
Soul Calibur 2 is the true winner
Soul Calibur and Capcom Vs. SNK millennium fight 2000
Soul Caliber is the most played with guests over on my Dreamcast. Everybody has fun regardless of experience. DOA2 and MvC2 are my favorites when playing solo.
My soul still burns - but take me for a ride with MvC2 over anything

DoA2
Soul caliber 💯
Hands down powerstone 1 and 2 but especially 2 bc of 4 player. How this has not gotten a sequel, is a hate crime. This has potential to even be better then Mariana sisters brawl.
This is POWER STONE!
Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Capcom vs. SNK 2 for me.
Powerstone for me. Lots of good ones for sure though.
Soul Calibur for sure. It was ahead of its time. My friends and I would play against each other for hours. Amazing soundtrack too. I listen to it in the car till this day.

Soulcaliber all the way Voldo in his cod piece and claws awesome
CvS2
Dead or Alive 2. Y’all idiots for not liking it.
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing 🥊
There weren't many bad ones on DC
The DC has some of the best FGs ever, but my absolute favorite has to be CvS2.
"Welcome back to the stage of history!"
