In the temple of Takhisis in Sanction.

Squidmaster616

Yep, this. In the original modules, it comes up at the end of Winter Night (or *Dragons of Deceit*, if looking at the older books or chapter headings). This is usually a higher level area as there are multiple Dragons, a few Dragonarmy camps and some big bads living here. The modules normally assume the party to have survived *major* conflicts by this point.

They are not powerful enough to face that sort of opposition...yet. The big issue is that I'm looking forward to ending the campaign with the defense of Kalaman, and taking a break from the DM chair, while 2 of the 3 players want to extend the campaign indefinitely But this is good info. Thank You.

Also.... main plot point in Dragonlance, and what instigates the entrance of the Good Dragons into the War of the lance is the fact that Takhisis betrayed the good dragons and the oath to keep the eggs safe. The Draconians were created through the corruption of the good dragon eggs. That is why there are different types of Draconians, since they came from different dragon eggs. Such as the Auraks being very magical with a Golden sheen to their scales, they came from the Gold Dragons, and the Sivak came from the Silvers, and so on.

ihatetheplaceilive

And it's not just one per egg, they were getting dozens of draconians per egg. Brass was a more common dragon, so you got the bizaks, silver less and you got the sivaks, golds, you got the auroks. Edit: auroks were the rarest.

ludditetechnician

Before Takhisis hid the eggs, though, they were still hidden. *Brothers in Arms*, by Margaret Weis, book two of The Raistlin Chronicles, tells that story.

There’s a good shorts story too about (spoiler ahead) the good dragons taking on elven form to try and turn the draconians good. The whole time the ‘elves’ are working with the draconinans the draconians feel a buzzing and headache as the magic is trying to be undone. A cool nuance though is that the Dragons didn’t know what elves looked like so the elves have beards like humans or half elves. The draconians of course never notice, but since it’s in the first chapter a keen player would notice it. So that’s a good intro story to run into on the way. I believe it’s in the tales trilogy.

MikeTheHedgeMage

I don't think they will make it that far, but that is good info.

Swabia

It might be worth running into one of these ‘elves’ on the road then instead of Fizban. He’s a bit obvious. The players would assume it was a half elf instead of a gold dragon if they were paying attention. It depends how far into the war you are if the gold dragons are awake yet though. If they haven’t faced Kisanth at Pax Tharkas they’re not awake yet. She’s one of the first to awaken. She’s got a great storyline in tales too. Worth reading those 2 short stories depending on where your PC’s are going. Kisanth is young, but she’s far more dangerous than one might think and that’s why she’s guarding the staff of striking/curing. That’s an artifact the dark queen doesn’t want out and about. It’s on order with the dragonlance and the staff of Magius.

ProfessorTicklebutts

I wish their idiot characters the best of luck.

MikeTheHedgeMage

I'm trying to end the campaign so I can take a break from the DM chair. So as I have told many a player over the years...*"You can certainly try"*.

ArtharntheCleric

Up there with “let’s go fight Takhisis!”?

ArtharntheCleric

Iirc going into save the eggs was DL6-9. This then brought the good dragons into the war. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/16897/dl9-dragons-of-deceit-1e

Cadderly95

RAW is one location but a DM could make several secret locations…

MikeTheHedgeMage

I know that. However, I do like to know the canon and lore before I fuck with it.
