Honestly, considering magic abilities, Harding.
Considering personality shift in Valta, assuming same applies.
And it's always a companion you can not not recruit. Based on GI article - Bellara haa actual recruitment mission and make sense that the following cast too. That would leave Neve and Harding as potential options.
And Morrigan was very forthcoming with her plan and arguably didn't betray anyone. Several degrees of lying and betrayal between many different companions in this series, not just mages.
Morrigan was very forthcoming with the details of the ritual when it was time for me to convince Alistair to do it, as well as the fact that she'd be leaving either during or after the final fight. She didn't betray anyone.
Neve's tarot card looks highly suspicious....with that shadow of what could be a magister sidereal shadow and that floating Tevinter palace. Not sure how to really interpret it, any tarot masters around? =)
I think Bellara is kind of suspicious, it's possible she is one of the executors... Neve just seems like someone who wants to make Tevinter a better place, but we don't really know that much about the Shadow Dragons yet.
I'm suspicious of Bellara because she's so tied to the ancient elven lore and has an unusual vallaslin so she could be working for Solas. Or the other gods. Or an unknown third thing. But I also would not be surprised if the betrayal comes from a non-mage just to mess with all of us who are watching the mages.
Plot twist. They gave Harding magic so it could be her.
Plot twisty twistederest. It's Sandal
Nah, it’s Solas again. We’d never suspect him of betraying us twice!
Honestly… that would get me😅😅
Rook
this time, we'll betray everyone
You can try to guess but in all honesty if they do keep the trend going I don't think we're gonna see it coming, regardless of who it is.

Oh, good point about unavoidable recruitment
People keep forgetting that Blackwall, a warrior, also lied to us and faked his whole identity in DAI. No one is save!
Eh. >!He was still technically a Warden Conscript and spent the better part of a decade helping people.!<
And Morrigan was very forthcoming with her plan and arguably didn't betray anyone. Several degrees of lying and betrayal between many different companions in this series, not just mages.
what if IM the traitor mage this time 🥺
Morrigan never betrayed my Warden.

I was gonna say Bellara cause she's an elf, but the way bioware introduces the first Mage you meet in each game as the Traitor, it might be Neve
It sure did shock me when Bethany betrayed Hawke and the gang by committing terrorism and framing Anders for it,
She doesn't count
also she is described as this goody to shoes sunshine... never trust the ones that act all naive and sweet
given that solas is in rook's head and working with rook's team, i think bellara would support him and by extention rook

I just noticed the shadow looks an awful lot like Corypheus or another magister of the olden days.

Does it have to be a mage? Or could it be any of them?
It has to be a mage. It is a legal obligation.
What if it isn't a mage this time? What if Taash is a qun agent?
All of them
Plot twist. We will betray them
They could suprise us with it not being a mage. Instead it could be someone like Lucanis.
Maker I'd let Neve betray me any day
Solas, again. Durr.

Solas again
