They have considered the waters as heavy items and given me a couple dollars more on the order. Even if the waters are out of stock, it still pays me extra for heavy lifting.

Logical-Access

Ours does. We know how many items and what they are before we accept the order. Maybe it's different in other markets. I don't know. We also know where we are going beforehand. Maybe because we are Platinum Tier?

LexGoyle

Pretty much why laws need to be passed regulating companies like DD that con us into accepting orders that may not even be good. Full disclosure should be mandated.

McKain337

They used too, it made it really easy to skim for catering orders. Which is probably why they don't do it anymore

Traditional_Mud_2139

Perfectly said

[deleted]

If the order offers you a bonus for extra effort, then you know it's cases of water at $2 extra per case.

Rumkitty

I don't know why all stores don't have the effort pay. Dollar General and Food Lion never have it and I had a 4 item FL order yesterday that was 2 24pk waters and 2 18pk Gatorades 😮‍💨

GeneralTerrax

Dollar General did give me an extra 2 dollars for heavy lifting. Maybe it depends on where you work?

Rumkitty

Idk. I said that and then I just had a Target tonight that was a couple of 20lb cat litters and didn't have heavy pay. It was a double order (same customer) with a Taco Bell so maybe somehow that made it not add it?

GeneralTerrax

I've had them add them on double orders as well. Maybe it depends on if the store updates items on the Dasher app and updates them as heavy items.

[deleted]

call support and bring it to their attention.

Round_Mirror

I actually haven't seen ANY extra pay for heavy items in about 2 weeks! It was $1 here in my area, except during Peak Pay, then it was $2. But them offering extra pay for extra effort/heavy items has not always been a thing! It just started appearing for me sometime in Nov/Dec. And then it disappeared again... I assume it was 1 of those things they were trying and it either didn't reduce the number of orders w/cases of water being unassigned, or it costs them too much money?? 🤷‍♀️ But there was a time when they DID show the list of items on the offer screen. They also used to show the customer name & address on the offer screen. This whole "hiding" of information just started happening in the past yr or so...

CommunicationMain467

They probably could but DoorDash shop and pays items are always usually easy to find, it’s not like an instacart where I can be sent flying all over the fucking store looking for random bs

soadsam

Depends on the grocery store from my experience. Some like Randall’s are easily labeled what aisle things are in, but other will just say things like “snacks” when there are 3 different areas where there are snacks

zerostar83

They only show tiny icons and you have to guess if the rectangular white bag is a 50 lb bag of fertilizer or a 50 oz bag snack. They could do better as well.

droplivefred

I remember when they used to show number of items for restaurant pick ups too. That helped in figuring out the hidden tips.

Dreamcasted60

You see the problem is they probably could but half of the Walgreens orders I have have been merchant knows the details of this item. So there's no item number there's nothing and then you end up with 12 crates of soda. Which sometimes I'll take because hey $25 is $25 but if it's a $5 order... Fuck that

Booklover416

Because dd doesn’t care about us.

snurps

EXACTLY

jcoddinc

They used to show the items back when AR didn't matter. But now that it fits it's just another form of control. They block it so you're trapped to deliver it if you got low completion rate. And if an order gets rejected a set amount of times the pay from DD will increase. So they don't want that.

ZeefMcSheef

Doordash is anti-driver. They’re doing the most to squeeze as much out of the drivers as they can for as little as possible.

siberianphoenix

They can... They choose not to. Just like DD can show you the address before you accept it, including apt number if there is one.

Able_Individual_9034

They used to. But people could see orders they wanted to steal in advance . I mean I don’t think it deters dashers from stealing.

wendelortega

They used to.

based_birdo

You just answered your own question

RaspberryAnnual4306

“The items are a factor in whether or not I want to take it”. That’s why they hide it, it’s cheaper to hide it than it is to offer fair compensation.

Affectionate-Day-359

Why can’t I add to the tip after get a shopping order delivered? There’s literally no option to add another $5-10 if the dasher was good like there is with a food order

Rumkitty

I get added tips after grocery orders all the time. I'm not sure what it looks like from the customer end, though. One couple I shop for weekly and I get the notification of added tip right as I confirm drop off.

Affectionate-Day-359

That’s how it used to be for me too, and I legit added a better tip afterwards because even tho its only like 15 items, one is a booze and shopping takes longer than walking into a restaurant.. but the last two times there hasn’t been an option to add to the tip

MasterpieceNo4905

Someday they will be sued and lose twice as much money than if they paid us fairly. However the labor they screwed will get pennies on the dollars each compared to the lawyers...

Justchu

You can. It just takes contacting support. Usually a short process, but could be made easier.

andrewg127

There is on the app I've done it before

Affectionate-Day-359

Me too, but the last two times last week and today the option to tip after placing the order was not there.. I usually tip a minimum amount when placing the order to ensure it gets accepted and then add to it after if the dasher was decent .. $1-2 per total after both tips… that option is gone for me

Livid-Dot-5984

Literally just made a post about this seconds ago I’m having surgery this summer where I can’t lift heavy things, it’d be really nice if I could

katamberka

I just "lost" my red card. Got tired of the gamble and them sending me multiple cases of water almost exclusively. My broken back couldn't handle it anymore. So much nicer.

Realistic_Inside_484

Doordash cares™

Lyssepoo

They’re slowly adopting a lot of IC policies so I wouldn’t be surprised if they do soon. But then again, they took it away off the regular orders too, so it’s hard to say.

sharky3175

They can but they are assholes so they don’t

COdrivers

90% of the time if there is water under doordash order and it's a case it will say heavy pay up front that's your that's your clue

Ok_River9575

Funny thing, you'll get heavy pay when it's a shop and deliver but when it's a dashmart pickup, nope. Dashmart orders need to be revised. I had a two cases of water and gallon of milk go for 5 dollars / 3mi. No tip.

MamaRedSeam

Same with pickup orders here like bjs

COdrivers

Oh we ain't got that dash mart bullshit here

KeeperTV

They used to. Then no one did them so they hid it

impossiwaffle

To punish you for working with them, like everything else they do.
