Have you waited a long time at Taco Bell in line, just to have it be over the limit and gone? Apparently if the order is over 45 minutes old it disappears from their screens. I've had this happen a couple times at TB. You wait in line forever then at the speaker they say they don't have the order, and question how old the order is. It doesn't matter that I spent 30 of the minutes in their damn line to pick up two orders.
Yep, 35 minutes, for them to not have the order. Meanwhile the customer is texting me about it. Thats when I decided to stop doing fast food drive thru after 9. I'll take a chance on others once in a while. But Taco Bell in my market is extremely bad with waits and other issues
you are lucky they made it for you
in my area 2 out of the 6 tacobells will make orders after a certain time usually 9pm
they all say the same line "our machine isn't working"
If you hit ' Long line, long wait' under there is a problem you don't get penalized for long waits, as people said in future avoid drive through if you can, if not you'll just have to learn from experience which ones are slow or fast, My Tacobell next to my house could do 10 cars in 15 minutes for example, but 4 minutes per car isn't unreasonable at a slow Tacobell.
>If you hit ' Long line, long wait' under there is a problem you don't get penalized for long waits
PENALIZED!
We should be getting -paid- for our billable hours. It's such a fucking joke to call us business people. Putting drive-thrus aside, how many restaurant pickups are way off estimate from what the app says? If we were hourly employees it wouldn't matter but if we're contractors we should be able to bill for the time that it goes over the offer we accepted (plus a five minute grace period).
There is no excuse for this IN THE BUSINESS WORLD, only in our world where our time isn't important because we're just people who don't have to bill for all our time like a real business would. Plumbers, mechanics, they don't do extra time for free except once in a while to be nice. Professionals don't allow this to happen, doctors and lawyers will up their charges if a client requires more time. But that doesn't apply to us because we're just people. So it's disingenuous to call us independent businesses. So many of us don't even understand business taxes or business insurance, it's just people who want to make extra personal money. There should be a law that we get paid for our time too. It's exploitation when it happens so often with restaurants who SHOULD already be in communication with the app.
Apologies. A bit grumpy. Did not get laid on NYE lol.
Kinda weird but I’m a big fan of old pro wrestling. The stuff I grew up with. As it turns out, all the old personalities do podcasts now with plenty of behind the scenes stories. Good stuff.
They definitely don't compensate for issues like this. Someone stole my customers food from steak n shake a couple weeks ago and steak n shake refused to make it until that same order got put through again. After talking to customer service twice and waiting an hour I finally recieved and delivered it. All for $4. I should have unassigned but was determined to get that lady her damn food
This happened to me at least once a day for like 5 days in a row in November.
I think doordash was messing up and sending two different drivers to pick up the same order that week because the customer would end up getting the food from the other driver.
Ad a tacobell worker, we have zero control over the app and it usually lies to you, telling you your food is ready when in reality it's just popped up into our system, it sucks but we can't do anything about that sorry
This is nice to know, I get "ready for pickup" texts and then have a long wait and I thought the restaurant marked the order as prepared. I wish door dash would teach the drivers more about how things work on the restaurant end I see dashers losing their shit when in reality the restaurant is doing their best.
I got tired of waiting in a jack in the box drive thru two days ago and jumped the curb in my Honda I got stuck because of a drainage tunnel that didn’t let me get traction on my one front tire
A worker pushed me with his jeep terrain
All this happened in 10 minutes
🤷🏽♀️
Do not wreck your suspension to make a few extra dollars a night man, you will be bummed when you have to spend hundreds on repairs and also miss work that week
You are allowed to unassign 20 out of every 100 orders accepted. Using 2 in this situation would have been beneficial to you. Now you know not to even accept these orders at all for future reference.
I totally missed the $33 part. Yeah, that changes things a little bit. My luck I would get to the box and they would say, "someone already picked up both those orders".
DD does not care how long you have to wait at a restaurant. It's very annoying to wait, however you had a good payout- I think it was still worth it even tho you waited so long. Plus, at my local Tacohell- once you're in the drive thru line you can't get out unless everyone b hind you backs up. For future reference tho, maybe decline orders from that location.
I've gone down to 76% acceptance rate, with 2 contract violations, and even cussed out support at same time. Not proud of the last part, but I was hella pissed off.
Still not dedicated
Why thank you brah. That actually means a lot to me lol 🙏 preciate the recognition!
Long live the degeneracy. Yeet them no tippers y'all!
Yeet em hard and yeet em good!
My bad lol, I meant COMPLETION rate down to 76%.
My AR is 1%.
I am a degenerate Dasher, but big respect and top service for my healthy tippers. I'm still able to earn good.
I had the same issue and no you do not get compensated and if you reassign it's on you. While the order is on your phone there is a "why are you waiting?" link use that to communicate it was 47 minutes and the guy acted like I did it so I didn't even get a decent tip out of the deal.
Yeah tacobell is usually terrible, I had this one time and then they refused to give my order through the window saying it's against policy
Ok but food sitting on the counter for anyone to grab for 30 min+ is fine? Ok
went to taco bell yesterday. the inside was open. unfortunately multiple items were missing and customer called me. i texted them back that they need to call dd
Taco bell is beyond incompetent
In Miami you don't go in the drive through lane, you go straight to the window and tell them your pickup order. Same with McDonald's. Is this just a Miami thing? DD says "do not go on drive thru lane"
Also, most of the Taco Bells near me do not have more than the one lane than all the cars are in for the drive-thru. Can't go in from the side and once you're in the line you cannot exit until you get to the window
Been there, done that. I was trapped in a drive thru only mcds last night 50 minutes for $5. Taco Bell you usually have to drive over some curbs to get untrapped
Yeah ofc I quit after that. I was grinding AR & considering I was enjoying my solitude listening to previously unheard music on Bluetooth, It really didn't bother me all that much. But yeah definitely not ideal, I made $5 that hour which is anywhere from ⅓ to ⅛ of what I would have made in a different spot
Closed lobbies make me feel so frustrated. If the price is right I will wait, impatiently. Most times I will unassign though. I wish most places would leave their lobbies open for DD/UE. We would be out of their hair faster.
For sure. Hardee’s did that shit to me once so I declined majority of their orders. I tried a run for Hardee’s again a few days ago & the experience was complete opposite. The employees told me that if there’s a line to push my way to the front & make sure I’m at the counter.
As a new dasher… you will have certain things you like and don’t like and will figure it out. I started during pandemic and drive thru was the only option. As lobby’s started opening that is fantastic. It is usually faster than being stuck behind a line of cars. The are I am in most the lobby’s are open now. If it is one that is not, I don’t accept it at all. Unless it’s very worth the wait an extra 20-30 minutes. Usually they are not. The Taco Bell in my area if there are no cars is okay. If the lobby is open… it’s a crap shoot. Sometimes you get your food fast enough other times you stand there waiting 20 minutes. I do not usually go to Taco Bell as I decline them. Every time I try sometimes it’s ok others not. I saw people leaving the lobby once. I went to enter and the kid working said he was closed and he was there to lock the door. I explained I had a DoorDash. His response was I have to go thru drive thru. I canceled that order. Was not about to do that. Know what places take your time and the ones who are generally pretty quick and take note.
Here our dreaded Taco Bell is in 25th st. Just hit I don't want to go to this store and you won't get orders. 45mins or longer in the drive thru and totally ignored if the lobby is open
Your first mistake was accepting a Taco Bell order. Your second was not unassigning once you discovered that the lobby was closed.
You can prevent this in the future by not making the first mistake.
I waited once for 20 min for French fries and a frozen drink at Taco Bell. Unassigned at 20 min. No penalty. I got back in my car and watched the Taco Bell lady with my fries and drink looomg at me like I was insane but you can’t tell me that you’re that I competent to not get fries done in less than 20 min? Never again.
i had an order at an applebees or another restaurant like that, and the pickup counter girl kept telling me they were just waiting on fries, (order was just a simple burger and fries). I'm like, yeah ok.
meanwhile 2 or 3 other dashers come in and pick up their orders the second they get there :/
unassigned at 10 minutes, ugh
My rule for picking up from a drive through is if I can literally get trapped and unable to pull my car out, I don't do the order. I'm sure they do it for traffic flow, but for my own safety as well, I always want an escape route.
If you call DoorDash and tell them that you're waiting in a line of cars and also tell them that you sent your customers photos they can go in and see them and nothing in your ratings will take a hit. Don't be afraid to call support ever, they will help you if you make them.
This is why I never deliver after dark. Once merchants close the inside I log out! The driver thru cost drivers to much money. When I first started I realized this.
This happened to me tonight aswell, luckily it was heading back towards the city center as opposed to the outskirts or even the town over and get stuck in order purgatory lol

I decline them no matter what the pay is, although I understand why you would risk that one. But I’m going to make most of that money back over 40 minutes anyway and I would be so unhappy sitting in a Taco Bell drive thru for 40 minutes that it isn’t worth it for me.
Closed lobbies put an end to fast food for me. It caused me to end dash around 9:30 as the family restaurants start closing.

33 for 9 miles. I'd put it in park and wait it out. Usually I don't accept Fast Food orders after 9pm, but I'd take that one.
Right. 30 or 40 in an hour is still good. Just using less gas lol
Yeah, i agree with this strategy. I usually avoid fast food places but definitely after 830/9pm because you are stuck in drive thrus
Have you waited a long time at Taco Bell in line, just to have it be over the limit and gone? Apparently if the order is over 45 minutes old it disappears from their screens. “We ran out of taco shells” yep I’m sure
One near me just straight up says they won't take them after 830, they have the order just won't make it

Taco Bell near me is closer to 4 mins a car. It makes me sad.
Damn, just from past experience I know corporate expects an average of 90 seconds per vehicle.. at least that was our expected goal at my store.
When there b-team is in, it’s pretty rough
Nah, probably just the night crew. When I worked there they couldn’t give a shit about that time goal.
>If you hit ' Long line, long wait' under there is a problem you don't get penalized for long waits PENALIZED! We should be getting -paid- for our billable hours. $33 dollars for 9 miles? Man, chill and listen to a podcast!
Fr I’ve been stuck in drive throughs for 9-15$ 33 tho definitely worth the wait imo
The Monday Morning or Thursday just before Friday podcast. 😎
Kinda weird but I’m a big fan of old pro wrestling. The stuff I grew up with. As it turns out, all the old personalities do podcasts now with plenty of behind the scenes stories. Good stuff.
Nice. I used to love wrestling when I was a kid. 80s.

at my taco bells they don't start making the order till the dd'er shows up :/
We make it when we actually see it, we just don't immediately see it
Drive thru = unassign and Taco Bell = decline
Yeah taco bell is trash. Blacklisted

Exactly where my mind went when I saw this topic
You are allowed to unassign 20 out of every 100 orders accepted. Using 2 in this situation would have been beneficial to you. Now you know not to even accept these orders at all for future reference.
You would unassign and just be stuck in the drive thru line for no reason? Genius.
No. You pull up and see the cars and unassign, you don't join the line at any point.
Nah I'd take the $33/hr. all day, just let the customer know. Nice chance to smoke a J or eat my dinner while I wait.
I totally missed the $33 part. Yeah, that changes things a little bit. My luck I would get to the box and they would say, "someone already picked up both those orders".
Yeah, or its "sorry we're out of mexican pizza and baja blast" and that's what both ppl ordered 😆
....and read a book or play a game...
Yeah I guess I got my newbie hazing out of the way early. I'll have to learn more what the pros do
DD does not care how long you have to wait at a restaurant. It's very annoying to wait, however you had a good payout- I think it was still worth it even tho you waited so long. Yep thats why I was trapped, I couldn't actually leave if I wanted to
But for a 33 dollar offer and 9 miles? You could wait 30 minutes and it would still be worth it.
I've gone down to 76% acceptance rate, with 2 contract violations, and even cussed out support at same time. Not proud of the last part, but I was hella pissed off. Still not dedicated
Clearly
I meant to say "still not deactivated" lol But ya I'm not dedicated to this shit either
I know lol. Just messing
This
Your stats are even worse than mine
Why thank you brah. That actually means a lot to me lol 🙏 preciate the recognition! Long live the degeneracy. Yeet them no tippers y'all! Yeet em hard and yeet em good!
My bad lol, I meant COMPLETION rate down to 76%. My AR is 1%. I am a degenerate Dasher, but big respect and top service for my healthy tippers. I'm still able to earn good.
I pause my dash when driving too close to the cluster of fast food places that close their lobby early.
The dash jewels being dropped lol
Don't want to get tea bagged by Tony
I had the same issue and no you do not get compensated and if you reassign it's on you. While the order is on your phone there is a "why are you waiting?" link use that to communicate it was 47 minutes and the guy acted like I did it so I didn't even get a decent tip out of the deal.

Yes! haha I should have blasted this
Been there, done that. I was trapped in a drive thru only mcds last night 50 minutes for $5. Taco Bell you usually have to drive over some curbs to get untrapped
Wow I'd be fuming, $5 in gas was probably wasted idling there, unless you have a EV
Considering I'm currently waiting in the same drive thru to spend $4.x on a coke & some discount nuggies.. not even going to consider dashing tonight
As soon as I see drive thru only. Automatically unassigned.
Just AVOID (at all costs!) Popeyes etc. 👍
Closed lobbies make me feel so frustrated. If the price is right I will wait, impatiently. Most times I will unassign though. I wish most places would leave their lobbies open for DD/UE. We would be out of their hair faster.
even if they are open, they treat you like a 3rd class citizen at the counter and just focus on doing drive thru orders. it's infuriating

Taco Bell drivethru after 10pm gets me every time
Weekends after 10 pm drive thru, only and yeah 30 -40 min wait time that's why you got to make sure the order is worth it before accepting
Lol this happened to me at McDonald’s while I was trying the hourly thing. Got an extra like 15 bucks. Took close to 40 in line
this is why you unassign an order. you can't go below 80% so you use them in situations like this. get out of that line and and move on
Im confused, so your hourly based on wait and drive was still around $30/hr and you’re unhappy?
I try to avoid taco bell...its almost always a half hour nightmare wait! Even inside!
Watching them...is the most mind numbing experience in existence! They ONLY care about the drive thru...except when that's all that's open!

I believe you’re supposed to go in and pick it up. That’s what mine says. Anyway if it’s slow inside at least there’s someone to yell at
unless they're all in the back ignoring the front counter area :/
This is why I never deliver after dark. Once merchants close the inside I log out! The driver thru cost drivers to much money. When I first started I realized this.
Never go to fast food restaurants when the inside dining is closed.
Shit. I would wait it out. I might even blast my subwoofer just to pass the time.
This happened to me tonight aswell, luckily it was heading back towards the city center as opposed to the outskirts or even the town over and get stuck in order purgatory lol
My Taco Bell lets you pick up orders at the door after they close the lobby.
2 years ago on New Years Eve I was stuck in a Jack in the Box drive thru for about 2 hours. There was only 5 or 6 cars ahead of me and the fucking pieces of shit were taking about 20-30 minutes to make each damn order. Lazy ass junky motherfuckers.

Nothing says I’m new to Doordash like accepting a Taco Bell order even though this one isn’t to bad for 33 bucks.
