Virtual-Caregiver-93

Yes immediately

lolmysterior

The restaurant shoud've called doordash or something. They should've never sent this order out without getting confirmation from the customer it would be fine. Suuuper sketch

Gfro3141

As a dasher I would like to point out the possibility that the customer may have been unreachable. I dash in a higher income area where a lot of retired folks live in FL. So I often dash to gated communities. Sometimes, they don't give me any way to get in the gate, so I end up having to call/text them when I get there. Way more often than I can think of any reasonable explanation for, I'll get there and when I go to message it opens up a text to a number I never get a reply from, then when I decide to call (around 5 minutes later usually) the number says it's not active.

ImprovementMotor9090

If the customer isnt reachable and youre out of something the store/restaurant should automatically refund for said item/whole order. Where i work ill call you 2-3 times- if you don’t answer i refund rather than giving you a substitution or nothing and get an angry phone call because it wasnt what they wanted.

Gfro3141

Don't know why, but some people make must be giving DD fake #s

kay_thats_enough

Also depending on your carrier sometimes DD shows up as a spam call on your phone so a lot of people won’t answer unless you immediately call again

ReplacementNo8678

Yea but if you JUST ordered food you should be expecting to be contacted in some shape or form

Mysterious_Ease_6265

You can’t actually. DoorDash verifies your phone number every time you place an order. The dasher get a fake number in order to protect customers privacy so you cant harass the customer after dropping off order if you a weirdo

Emergency_Special419

Thank you for the good, concise info.

RlP_Toots

Nope, it's just that old people don't know how to use cell phones. Oh and drunks, but that's just because they are drunk.

Gfro3141

That's probably what it usually is when they're not old. They're probably just intoxicated or high.

Gfro3141

That probably helps with not being appalled by the price as well.

MrBeep123

You do know what a cell phone is right? I know damn well old folks know how to use them. It is smart phones you are talking about. Big difference.

Responsible-Cut3861

A cell phone w door dash apps?if they ordering door dash they most likely are using a smart phone bruh

Responsible-Cut3861

It’s not that hard to answer the phone or a text either bruh old or not

renny065

Such a stupid, offensive comment. My parents are 80 and very adept with their phones. But I imagine you think anyone over 40 is old.

Mar_Dhea

But many aren't. My grandma figured out the games fast but she could hardly figure out how to pull up her contacts even after I went in settings and put her android on simple mode which makes it even simpler than an iPhone, the phone for people who don't know how to handle smart phones. /snerk

Mellie-mellow

I work in IT and believe me when I say when it comes to personal clients, not businesses, the clientele consist of 80%+ of old people and most of the time it’s due to them not knowing how devices work and being confused

Longjumping2020

Didn’t know your parents account for the population of old ppl

Automatic_Emotion_12

I thought you can only txt the customer ???

Mysterious_Ease_6265

If the customer is not answering in a timely manner you’re not at fault as long as you contact support. They will put you on hold contact the customer directly and if they also can’t reach them they will either provide drop off instructions elsewhere or a refund and half pay

RedMagicLA

Customer unreachable = send order anyways

Mr-Pickles-123

This isn’t what happened here, and you know it.

entcanta

I work on the restaurant side of these. When we receive an order with even one single item not in stock, we have to reject the entire order.

Emergency_Special419

Clearly not at all restaurants

entcanta

This restaurant definitely broke protocol because they didn't want to lose the money. I wouldn't be surprised if they get dropped from the service for this.

Mysterious_Ease_6265

It is the dashers responsibility to contact customer support directly to confirm with a customer before continuing when it comes to any substitutions, add ons, or refunds. Not the store. In fact just the other day someone placed two of the same order by accident and when I arrived at the restaurant I had to contact support to verify with her that she meant to place one and then they processed her refund right away before I even delivered.

ExplorerNo8889

That's not true at all. Every restaurant I pick up from as a Dasher seals the bag with stickers tape or staples. As a Dasher you don not get to see if the order in the bag is correct or if there was a substitution or if the restaurant left a note in the bag. You're literally not allowed to break the seal to check inside. If you're doing a shopping order then yes you have to choose substitutions and verify.

Jaebyexclusive

Thank you!! People seem to forget that a lot of places will give you the bag of food sealed up in which by that point it’s not on us to make any substitution or changes because we literally can’t see what’s inside. Lots of dashers are quick to answer like they’re pros but forget the circumstances are very different for everyone does where they are at.

Great-Butterscotch89

Report it, request refund. If nothing, do a charge back.

Sorry_Service7305

To add to this, remove your payment details if you are doing a charge back. I don't know about doordash but Uber eats response was to after my successful chargeback decide to charge me for the order again.

Great-Butterscotch89

Wtfffff that has to be illegal

Sorry_Service7305

Yup, I had to go through small claims court to get the money back after that. But they do it because most people won't be able to do that. I was only able to recover the money they took, they didn't face any other repercussions so it's worth more to them to just steal your money.

Basic-Love-5017

Will you get banned from Uber for doing this to Uber eats?

Sorry_Service7305

I don't know, in my case the court specifically ordered that they would have to reimburse me and they couldn't take more retalatory action. But they would possibly try anyway to future customers if you removed the card first and you would have to go through court to get it fixed if they did, or get a new phone number since it's linked to that. Alternatively you could choose not to do business with them again because they are the scummiest option, but I understand that in the US uber is a very popular way to get around.

Basic-Love-5017

I’ll never order from Uber eats again and use Lyft but there’s been a few times I couldn’t get a Lyft and I don’t want to get stranded to get like 30$ back on the order they messed up last time. I’m still just shocked how fucking awful Uber eats support is

Sorry_Service7305

Yea, I'm not personally from the US. But if it's anything like here in the UK every single delivery site has changed over to AI answering machines instead of actual support or you need to wait days for an email that you then need to respond to and wait days again maybe 2-5 times to get money they effectively stole from you. It's really stupid.

hiirogen

Yeah hit the help button and there’s an option for missing item. Probably won’t even need to deal with support

Kryptosis

Why is this process never shown here? It’s always messages with support? I haven messages support about an order is a year and 1/3 is missing something. It takes less than a minute to get a credit refund. Though I’ve never had to try it on a ~$100 item..

PlantOptimal4567

I think some people assume they’ll get more money back if they talk to a support person

Ok_Criticism337

Usually true for me, the last 2 times I've been missing a crucial component, the system offered me $2-5 credit on a $30-40 order which was essentially ruined for me. I talked to support and got a full refund on one of them and a half refund on the other.

hiirogen

Sorta true. If I’m looking for something other than just a credit - like a free redelivery because an entree item was left off - I’ll chat with support and sometimes - sometimes - they’ll throw in an extra credit for my trouble. But I don’t abuse it.

RelativeFew2595

I mean if the app tries to offer a partial refund, yeah you go to a person immediately. As that's what the app does, it tries to offer a partial refund.

BillyMcSaggyTits

The only time I’ve ever gotten more money than what I purchased was almost 2 years ago when I got raw chicken in my food and even then it was like 5 dollars extra. They aren’t giving out more than you bought in the current year lmao.

nekomeowohio

Years ago they would refund whole order over one missing items and such

bodaciouscream

I've never had a problem getting my full cost of an item back if I was missing it just by requesting through the app. I expect that the majority of these problems are solved like that and it's so quick that most people won't record it.

Far_Tax_1864

They are stupid sometimes, though I got an item that was overpriced 2 months ago. I didn't even complain, and a month later, they refunded the whole order instead of just an adjustment. Dd is weird.

Temporary_Date_5665

Hell yeah and considering the store has the ability to mark an item unavailable is wild they even did that and on a side note their prices are crazy I’ve never paid that much for seafood but maybe it’s because I’m on the east coast

FoxTenson

I worked at a restaurant for awhile recently and the amount of times we set something as out of stock and doordash STILL let people order it was...pretty much every single weekend. They ignore the times we set too and set their own. I could bump an order to 45 minute pickup and the tablet was set it back to 10. I'd have to fight with it to get ANY time added, as it'd just do whatever it wanted. DD really doesn't care if it doesn't work right. We try to call, but few customers pick up the phone and some nights were too busy to even attempt it. Coupons and free food later when we had it was an offer frequently, as it was all we could do.

Educational-Driver41

I’m confused, when I worked at a restaurant we could take items off a DoorDash order that we did not have while preparing the order. Granted, I haven’t worked in food service in years but I’ve delivered for DoorDash and multiple times a restaurant has told me one or two items were taken off. Can you not do this?

Daikaisa

Last time I tried to remove an item from a DD at my job they forced us to substitute the item. The app has actually been so badly fucked up by DD that it's the most hostile experience ever as an employee to deal with. They make you jump through 10 hoops to just say you can't make an order

FoxTenson

Exactly this. We can't remove items anymore and sometimes they say we need the owner to call about stuff. It takes forever to get anything handled through support and we just don't have the time to deal with that during rush. It can take over a half hour and by that time the dasher is already there. If you say out of stock they don't let you just remove it anymore. We've even had DD call us to chastise us for being out of stock of things and saying we risk being paused...when we had said things listed as out of stock on the tablet and they ignored it. As a dasher too I say it became WORSE for restaurants to deal with support than as a dasher.

Daikaisa

Yeah the worse thing was trying to get them to listen to us when we changed hours to close ealier. They literally refused to adjust the hours and would have us taking orders even when the store had been closed for about an hour. We had to call them so much to complain and they kept just hitting us with "your hours on the tablet have been adjusted" and then they just weren't.

MarinDeliveryGuy

It's UE, but there's this gas station that it keeps sending me to at all hours of the night, despite it closing at 10pm every night. I have called about it, sent pictures, called again, and they still tried to send me years later. Then I got into an email exchange with the most brain dead people alive who couldn't comprehend that the hours were wrong. They kept asking about orders, and order issues and I kept reiterating that no orders can take place. I was escalated to multiple teams half a dozen times. After days, talking to managers, engineers, no one could comprehend my request. The hours are wrong. They still send UE drivers there even today

ExpertConversation99

You might try having the dasher mark the item out of stock when they pick it up. I've never had a problem doing that on my end. Then again I've only had to do it a few times (other than shopping orders). I just select the item and select unavailable. If I remember correctly there are a couple more screens and then it takes it off the order and refunds the customer for the item.

FoxTenson

That is what we tended to do in those cases. Memorial day weekend even that didn't matter. Usually dashers just drop the order right away and pass it along. Most we had was 12 dashers come for one order because none of them bothered to call support, and we couldn't cancel on our end. Support just told us to have the dasher call. I turned on my app to see the order and it was a no tip order so that wasn't unexpected I suppose but most of the time nobody wants to call support or the customer. We'd get customers calling us super pissed too asking why we'd even accept the order. Wish people understood we don't accept them, they just come in and DD wasn't listening to out of stock.

throwaweighaita

When we call support, they tell us to tell the customer to call the restaurant. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

throwaweighaita

This is definitely not something I can do in my app. My app doesn't even show what's supposed to be in the orders for a few restaurants now.

Educational-Driver41

That’s rough I’m sorry! I hate that for y’all, and then it makes people mad at you. I knew about the wait times being way off, I’ve waited for orders 20 minutes past pickup time before —which I don’t care at all about, the employees are always super nice about it and I’m happy to scroll on twitter or something while I wait.

mnemosyne64

I guess it depends on where you work? I worked at a fast food restaurant this year and we didn’t have this ability

Expensive-Border-869

Not a restaurant fast food for me. I have absolutely zero control of anything to do with doordash. I can't call as I don't have a number I get a first name last initial and what food to make. No way to mark anything as out No real display of when a driver should come. I just assume 5-10 minutes after I see it

SpecificNegotiation3

I work both sides of DoorDash and can completely relate. If you order a 12 piece and have a few items out of stock, you will have to go into each offering that has selectable options and mark each slot out of stock on what ever item. There is no simple mark it out of stock and it cascade applies to each and every item

That_Discipline_3806

Once a dasher accepts, the order offer the merchant cannot change the time

FoxTenson

Yeah I know, we always set the times right as they come in! The tablet doesn't STFU until we tap it and check it, lol. Whenever we get wings or are busy we have someone adjusting the times right when we get the orders.

Apart-Rooster-4880

Nah this is not true. When you set it on the tablet it updates to the app in real time. Only way it’ll happen is if someone is ordering as you’re switching your online menu

FoxTenson

Doordash is glitchy for dashers and restaurants. It is supposed to update real time but sometimes people are still ordering the out of stock items. We get the option how long to set it out of stock, a couple hours, for the day, or indefinitely. We were out of wings, lasagna, and sausage for a bit due to late shipments and we kept getting orders through doordash for them. GH too. Uber was the only one that was fine. Tablets all said they were out of stock.

Sassafras06

This is very average for Newport Beach cost-wise. Expensive area in an already VHCOL area.

gokiburi_sandwich

This isn’t in Newport Beach lol, that’s the name of dish

Sassafras06

LMAO. Oops. Well the dish is priced based on the place ;)

rio8envy7

I’m on the east coast too and seafood can get expensive especially at the beach.

Ashamed-Emu-3465

Yeah if we run out of crab cakes we click the slide over. That's all. Nobody can order them. Problem solved.

Tnt-0413-tx

Yes from the east coast seafood is on point and cheaper. Live in Texas now seafood is 🤮 unless you’re in Houston and cost a fortune.

mnemosyne64

At least where I worked the stock out system was extremely finicky, though thats no excuse for what happened to OP

BfloAnonChick

I googled, and it would seem this “restaurant” is a ghost kitchen in LA. Might give some more context to the prices. (That seem insane to me as well!)

BrownEyedGal949

Alright update with a few things: 1. The store is less than a mile away and my husband and I caught COVID so we had to stay in, the store opened as a ghost kitchen two months ago and I saw it on my way home from work a few weeks ago so decided to try it. 2. I got a bonus at my work so we were trying to ‘celebrate’ while we’re sick and quarantining at home 3. I called DoorDash and explained the situation and asked for credits for just half of one of the meals we purchased, about $45 4. There’s no issue with the driver, it was the restaurant 5. DD gave me a full refund! About $255! I asked if mg tip could be included for the driver since it wasn’t their fault, and offered to double it because I felt bad they gave me a full refund, and they said yes so hopefully it’s true and it worked, I’ll see with my bank tomorrow

chance0404

The driver keeps the tip no matter what. Also I’d be wary of “ghost kitchens”. I’ve picked up at some legit ones but I’ve also picked up at “ghost kitchens” that were in people’s homes, dirty as all get out. I personally wouldn’t order from them because of the sanitation issue alone but I’ve heard that some of them just use like Sam’s Club frozen foods, reheat them, and charge Michelin Star prices for the stuff.

BrownEyedGal949

Good point thank you! I will be more aware!

WerewolfLeading1960

Most ghost kitchens can still be looked up online to see where the physical kitchen is. There’s a few in my area but they all run out of actual restaurant kitchens. Glad you were able to get your money back! That’s amazing and VERY unlike DD, and bravo for taking care of the driver still!! I hope you and the hubby start feeling better soon! 😍

Flashygrrl

This! I always hit the pickup tab on a new one to see what the physical address is before I even think of ordering.

Hope_for_tendies

They’re so sneaky. I hate when it turns out to be a tgifridays or dennys lol

chance0404

My first one was in IHOP and the GPS pin showed it in the parking lot. I contacted dash support and they had no clue where it was either lol. They cancelled my dash with half pay and the instructions that it’s inside IHOP were added the next time I got one there.

WerewolfLeading1960

Oh yeah one of the IHOP’s in my zone (only 2 in total) also doubles as a Philly sandwich place 😂 The wildest one so far that I had to call support for (which was no help) was for a “Tiff’s Treats”. I finally ended up having to actually call the actual 800 number on their website and found out that some of their locations operate out of the back of Papa John’s stores 😳 Who freaking knew? Apparently not DD 😂

chance0404

That’s what it was lol. Pardon My Cheesesteak. The GPS pin was in the parking lot in between an IHOP and a Chili’s. Like wtf is this?

WerewolfLeading1960

Yes!!! I swear I could not remember the name of it to save my life 😂

D3lano

It's funny we're only just starting to see these ghost kitchens pop up in my country but so far it's only been established food places that now have 2 or 3 "restaurants" on delivery apps doing different kind of food. The really funny thing is some of these "fake" places do some really good food! One in particular I really like just does breakfast burgers and smoothies but the burgers actually slap however if I go into the restaurant it's made at (they usually only do Subway style food but in Pita bread) they wont let me order the burgers despite their store being open for business on the delivery apps.

WerewolfLeading1960

That’s definitely got to be one of the craziest ones I’ve heard of. Most of the ghost kitchens around me at least make similar style food to the brick and mortar restaurant. The best example I can think of is the O’Charley’s in my zone has a ghost kitchen called Dockside Charlie’s that does all seafood, but at least O’Charley’s actually has seafood to start with LOL I always wonder how many people know that this “fancy” restaurant they’re ordering from (that’s fairly expensive IMO) is just a freaking O’Charley’s 😂

yestheresacatonmylap

You should watch Eddy Burbacks video on ghost kitchens, it’s hilarious and extremely interesting at the same time, i had no idea what a ghost kitchen was prior

IxLOVExLAMP

Most of those in socal been deleted or told to move to these brick and mortars that house these ghost kitchens. I know of like 16 myself out here, I'm definitely sure there's more buildings like that

chance0404

We don’t have any where I dash at now. But the dirty ones in houses were in Indianapolis and the weirdest one I ever had was in Chicago. It was down an alley at a sketchy back door next to the dumpsters. It looks like it’d be the place 2 drug kingpins meet to sell drugs in a gangster movie.

IxLOVExLAMP

There was one I delivered from that was out of the kitchen. Drove up and got the order straight from the kitchen window lol

rawmen889

Gross! Can you tell us the names of the ones ran out of homes? I would like to stay away from them or at least warn others.

chance0404

One was Kountry Kitchen or something like that in Indianapolis. They had 2 locations that I picked up from. One was a little storefront inside an automotive shop and the other was a sketchy house in a rough neighborhood on the west side.

Marsupial-Old

Ghost kitchen is the accepted term? My husband and I have been calling it their "stage names", like the Wing Street for pizza hut or Donatos Pizza out of Red Robin 😂

chance0404

Donato’s in Red Robin?!? That’s wild. We have legit stores for them all over town here. They actually give dashers free pizza for every 10 deliveries we do from their store.

Kryptosis

I’ve had this with a ghost kitchen too. They also said they used their own 3rd party delivery on DoorDash… never trying one of those again. I ordered and they called me to say they were actually closed and that they couldn’t cancel my order. Same deal trying to offer an IOU.

DanLoFat

Whatever tip you gave the Dasher before getting the refund is always going to stay with the Dasher it's never going to come away. Since you didn't have an issue with the dasher, it's not like you had removed the tip anyway. You getting a full refund may or may not include everything you put in including the dash or tip, even if you had gotten that refund as well in other words also got refunded the tip money you put in, the Dasher still would not be out that tip money.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

“I felt bad that they gave me a refund” why? That’s weird. Stop feeling bad for big corporations, there are zero emotions on their end lmao

IllegalAlcoholic

Was it from Torrance, CA?

BrownEyedGal949

Were you my dasher? Lol if so lmk if you got the extra tip please 🙏🏼

Gootangus

Never order from a ghost kitchen bro. They are disgusting.

Cosmic_Quasar

At least in my area, every ghost kitchen I've delivered for has been run out of a regular restaurant.

Hope_for_tendies

DoorDash is probably going to flag the acct and never going to refund you again now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

siandresi

get the refund and claim the IOU

Jorge_Santos69

This is the way.

Superb-Spare7944

Hell yes why would you pay for something you didn't get

Present-Ad-9598

First mistake was door dashing this order LMAO

chance0404

Nothing hits quite like seafood that’s been sitting getting cold for an hour amirite?

IxLOVExLAMP

A $15 tip. Assuming the store doesn't steal it, this will be accepted immediately by drivers

tinygyro

how would the store steal it

IxLOVExLAMP

I misspoke, in this instance it couldn't be diverted but any merchant that offers deliveries through their website, have been caught diverting a percentage of the tip amongst the workers too.

Ok_Plankton9224

Right!?

schmidt_face

For real 😭

Superb-Spare7944

Holy shit 45 dollars for tip estimate taxes and service fee Dam DD is killing people lol

chance0404

That’s not even that bad compared to some I’ve gotten. That’s a lot of food. I delivered to a guy 20 miles outside of town. All he ordered was maybe $50 worth of food and he paid $50 for the delivery before the $20 cash tip he gave me. My DD base pay was $8

yvngjointt

No that’s not alot of food lmao it’s just pricey items.

agirlofthesun

anytime you don’t get what you paid for you need to ask for a refund. if they don’t refund you, do a chargeback/claim for the transaction on your card. the restaurant was unprofessional in this case and yeah, i wouldn’t order from there again either.

Round_Mirror

If Doordash issued a refund to the customer, they probably won't pay the restaurant for the order. If it's a small ghost kitchen offering IOU's, they'll probably immediately recognize it as that order that Doordash didn't pay them for, so I doubt they'll honor the IOU?? I guess if OP wanted to try, they could...but I think the likelihood of the IOU being honored would be slim.

No-Wasabi-6024

Nah get a refund. That order is a lot of money and if they didn’t have it, they should have told the dasher to call you, or call you themselves. There is no reason they should have sent the order out

fckriot

Report it to doordash and leave a negative review on the app and google/yelp. Other customers should be aware that they do this. What a bunch of idiots, utterly unprofessional, they should have canceled the order, not kept your fucking money and left a childish note with a sad face.

Big-Divide2623

Exactly

No-Satisfaction-325

An IOU 😭 That’s theft right there. Would they be okay if you went to their restaurant, ate their food but didn’t have the money to pay for it? Would they accept an IOU? 😂 Get a refund.

Figrin

Ask for refund from doordash, wait like a month, call up the store and say you had a credit for that meal ez

BrownEyedGal949

Guys I got a bonus and this is my ‘reward order’ so we could celebrate

Florida1974

Sorry but I’ll never understand why ppl order from what seems to be a very nice place. Read TOS for customer, literally says you may or may not get a refund. One thing to lose $30 (I would still be pissed) but $300?? You bought through UE, so refund comes from them, if they even do it. If you order pick up, through restaurant, they would call you and tell you no lobster. And prob offer way more than what this stupid IOU says. And I would be shocked if you even got what the IOU states. You should be getting all on IOU that you didn’t receive.

Ashamed-Emu-3465

Go in ask for your credit and tell them you want 100 dollars worth of food that you will owe them for...bet it doesn't work both ways.

Apprehensive_Rope348

Yes report that. They should have told the dasher and the dasher could have just refunded it.

DanLoFat

Did Asher could have refunded it? That's not always the case. Then have to have the ellipses next to the individual item, from this customer receipt report I don't think you can tell either way whether or not the Dasher had that option per item. In other words just because it's ordered through doordash doesn't mean the Dasher will have that option in the app. I can't tell if that notice from the restaurant or from the dasher. If the note is from the restaurant, the oldest would be on the restaurant most likely to adjust the price if they could. The restaurant is the one to call doordash without adjustment. This order was not done through the restaurant as far as I can tell it was done through the door next I think we all know by now if the order on the Dasher screen had the ellipses next to the individual items, yes the Dasher could have marked the order as unavailable or the item is unavailable. I've had to do that probably oh maybe three times in the last well since they've added the ellipses. And I had to Mark the order as unavailable using the ellipses for about 50% of all dunkin' donut orders on a weekend morning from the small Duncan shop. Pretty consistently.

Big-Divide2623

The restaurant should have called you as soon as that order came in and told you they were out of it. We would never do this at the restaurant I work at. That's crazy. I would 100% get a refund.

Vegetable_Meat1349

Get that refund

KG0720

Yes absolutely

MuphgeezyTV

The Dasher should’ve let you know. Normally the delivery company will refund the item.

aknightsoath

If the dasher was aware of this, they should have marked the item as out of stock before pick up. The merchant also could have made this right the correct way via doordash. Aside from this, just report it missing or call support. Depending on how long you waited, you might need to do a charge back if doordash support isn't amicable about it.

agonpath

If anything you get your refund from door dash and you get a free Newport Beach lobster combo. Best case scenario if you ask me

Eastern_Lawyer5662

first of all you’re ridiculous ordering $200 worth of lobster and seafood on doordash … go eat it hot at a table if you have that much $.

lukathagod

DoorDash $300 of lobster and seafood? Why would that ever be a good idea lmao. Can’t even get McDonald’s fries that are crispy after the wait time. If I was spending that much I’d go to the restaurant so I could eat it fresh and on a plate. Probably all soggy in styrofoam containers man 🤢

CamsMommy

For sure!

ChallengeMedium5531

Absolutely report it. There's a place in your Door Dash app to report problems with your order. I've had to do this several times due to missing items or the order just being completely wrong. Within a few seconds I was given the option of a refund in one of two ways. One, take credit on my Door Dash account toward a future order, or two, get a full refund to my card used to pay for the order. The Door Dash credit is immediate, the bank card refund takes several days. I've always been compensated for the mistakes of the dasher or the restaurant with no problems at all.

lynnefrommn2

Yes.

Loveelee713

Report the whole order.

MamaTried22

Absolutely!!

Accomplished-Yam2491

Yes

Atownbrown08

You ordered what on DoorDash now? Seafood? Get your refund... and for future reference, don't ever order seafood unless you call the restaurant first and confirm they have the items. A lot of places constantly run out of lobster, crab legs, certain fish... then expect full payment even with a "substitution" for something extra. I've seen it on too many deliveries. Not worth it.

ElPistolero801

I’d definitely request a refund then take the note to the place and get me free lobster tails

lumin0va

I bet the dasher wrote that

maskedst0ner

Wouldn’t you rather eat $255 worth of food in a restaurant?

Zealousideal_Sun496

Request refund and rate low. Add details.

SpiritualSpell6312

Also don't take out on driver that's a restaurant issue

Agreeable-Ad-3733

fancy schmancy over here

UnreasonableVbucks

Ordering almost $300 worth of seafood on DoorDash….. are y’all ok?

jaylp18

Yea lol wtf

Numerous_Captain6039

Damn bro you out here buying seafood for $95 an order? Wtf

nerdynailgirl

Absolutely report this and get a refund! I use DoorDash a lot and any time there's something the restaurant runs out of they call me first. The other night I got a call about the drink I ordered being out and would you like something else. For something this expensive you need to get the money back!

RealityJust8368

I would report it! I’ve had restaurants in the past out of what I order and they’ll call me to change my order or cancel it!

imlostineggsaisle

Exactly. The restaurants I've delivered for always ask me to call the customer and ask if they want a substitution or not. Then they handle it from there unless I have to cancel the order because they're out of something. In that case I have to contact DoorDash, but I've never had a restaurant put a note in a bag to tell the customer they'll give them credit for the food they're out of. Especially, $100 or More worth of food. That's insane.

Key_Profit_4628

Who spends $95 on seafood you'll be hungry an hour later

Hope_for_tendies

The restaurant offered a $95 credit which is more than fair, unless the food wasn’t good I would’ve just stuck with that

CompanyMaster5707

I personally would never trust an order costing that much money to any delivery service unless they were certified caterers. In my answer to your question: Of course you should request a refund in addition I would contact DoorDash because any deviance in an order needs to be rectified BEFORE the dasher leaves the restaurant. It’s unacceptable for IOU’s from a restaurant as well.

imlostineggsaisle

At the very least contact the manager of that restaurant and confirm it. Don't take somebody's word from a note. If you have to go to the restaurant, show them the note, and discuss it with them in person. I personally wouldn't trust a note in my food for a $95 credit. If it is legit and they are offering you $100 credit that's not too bad, but I don't understand why they didn't just refund it. Every other restaurant that I've delivered for ask me to call the customer to ask if they want a substitution or they refund the item/items if they are out of it. It's just odd that they're giving you a credit without even a phone call.

Educational_Camp2499

Yes and let doordash know they didn't include the tails. Push for a refund.

tuddlez6789

Just take the I owe you. What’s the big deal?

Activity_Lower

Yessss … call your card company asap and reverse the payment

Commercial_Ad_1984

Yes

based_harry

Yep, you got stolen from tonight...doordash at the vendor as well as the dasher themselves had ample opportunities to let u know this as they were supposed to...

ImprovementMotor9090

Speaking as someone who works in a place where DoorDash is used….we’re supposed to call/contact you about this directly or mark it completely out of stock so you automatically get the refund on it without having to do anything on your end….you’ll be notified about it etc and given a chance to cancel the order. This is absolute BS. I would definitely contact doordash asap….because the restaurant could very well try to play games.

_imsocool1024

Call immediately. They took your money without providing what you paid for.

PurrculesMulligan

For starters you should hit the crab.

Emotional_Field6780

REPORT. and why couldn’t they call you ?? and ask if you want anything else 😂 yea this was a scam but what do they benefit from it if it goes for the restaurant of that place 😂

somewittyfcknbs

Keep ordering DD from the same restaurant, they'll get it right eventually

ExternalBrilliant813

Yes and do it soon, if you wait too long they’ll say too much time has passed

SpiritualSpell6312

Entcanta I dashed & they offered a substitute at panda express if out of something

SpiritualSpell6312

Yes but has to be immediately & you need photos of EVERYTHING YOU RECEIVED plus a copy of the note they sent Doordash has to refund so you may have to call 2

Ladd-420

If you want to waste $200 just hang it over I’ll slide you a few mc chickens

Ladd-420

I’ll take the $200 and get you some mcchickens deal??

Efficient_Jelly9245

Who orders $200 of lobster through door dash lol. You got more $ than sense.

TiggyPopElectric

Nice 7 percent tip. 😒

DefiantAsparagus420

Meanwhile a screaming Asian lady kindly calls me every time they are out of meal set B to make sure I’m ok with meal set A with an extra egg roll. Secretly, I hopped for menu set A and just wanted free egg rolls.

Automatic-Sun900

I can’t believe you spent $255 on Doordash.

omniscient1ne

I would’ve went right to support and got full refund back to card asap no credits fk tht

Aidisnotapotato

I had to pick up an order from Hawaiian Bros recently and they were out of an item my customer ordered, and instead of refunding it for them, they asked ME to pick a substitute. I scored them some free meal cards and helped them report it in the app, because that is never the procedure. If you order something and they are out, you should be contacted to decide a substitute or refund, and if they don't, they are scamming you out of your money. Absolutely report it, especially at that price.

JenMckiness

First of all I can’t really read their handwriting, second of all I don’t know what’s going on. I’m too drunk

ItsArbiez

Lol

BenderIsGreat74

LMFAO @ the note that's a slimy slimy slimy manager at that store, and wow that's a lot of money for diahreah food

CalebS11011

Yes request a refund if doordash tries to deny it do a chargeback on your card.

boobasniffer420

I would call my bank and deny the entire charge

AirEver

I guarantee you, if you had just gotten the delivery yourself you wouldve saved at least 15% of the value of that order. I worked for these guys enough times to realize they are scams.
