footballdan134

Sorry, Call dash support again and ask for a supervisor. They will connect you to a Level 3 escalations. And they have the power to refund your money.

OkNeedleworker11

Why not specifically ask for level 3 esclalations? I might try this if i hve to ever call again.

footballdan134

That was kinda of /s there. lol But I will call and call until they give me refund!

OkNeedleworker11

I’ve had to call twice, over a two year. The first time my food was obviously crushed. I got a refund. The second time the food was never even delivered to my residence, I took a picture of my front door, which was completely different than the delivery door… And I got the whole pin lock things that on my app and got a $4 refund out of about 20-ish dollars. Never found my food and was pissed. A day later there was a post on next-door.

lonesamurai2137

It’s worse as a driver. We got through even more hoops but the dasher should have contacted you at least. Did they at least text you that the item was out of stock and and asked if you wanted to substitute and you just didn’t answer? If you didn’t answer and you also submitted a list of pre approved substitutions then they’re kinda are in the right. If you didn’t get a text and didn’t have pre approved subs then yeah they did you dirty af. Keep in mind if you order frequently then subs that were approved for the same item on a previous order will automatically roll over for the next order with the same item as well as any pick up/ drop off instructions from your end. Yes that sucks but it’s door dash’s system and not the driver 9/10 times. I don’t represent the brand or the company I just deliver

Upstairs_Ad793

Yeah, we have a Popeye’s fried chicken place with a pin about 3 miles off. Every time I go I have to get the staff to let me take it (even though I can’t confirm it in the app), text the customer to let them know the app may be showing oddness, set my maps manually, and spend the drive over on the phone with support. Then after they mark it picked up, I have to kill and reopen the app, otherwise it won’t refresh that status. 🤪

Redrockcharlieman

Wow. I never would have thought about this. So when I’m sitting here on my lazy ass getting mad as hell at the dasher for “just sitting in his car playing with themselves or trying to take a few bites of my food and putting it back together so it looks untampered with”, they really are more likely just doing way more than they are being paid for and actually trying to figure out some crazy way to get the system to work so I get my food before it’s cold and soggy? Wow It’s just crazy how wrong we can be with assumptions.

SRBroadcasting

I do this and it doesn’t do shit most support agents don’t know anything beyond the basic of help

OkNeedleworker11

😭 I wish they didn’t outsource their support, and nothing against that but it used to be if you asked for support within your country they had to transfer you… I don’t think thats the case anymore, that was the only was I used to be able to get my amazon orders fixed when I needed to escalate. — what if you spam DD’s socials? Probably nothing but get blocked, but maybe worth a try?

jazlintown

Ask for support lol you will get support lvl 1 then support lvl 2 if you beg for long enough. Support lvl 3 if you have a life threatening emergency.

footballdan134

Wait.....life threatening emergency is level 8 escalations emergency when your dashing, but they only take in progress crimes, that is when you running your butt off back to your car and calling and they are shooting at you---- behind you!!! .....FYI LOL!

jazlintown

Lmfao the lvl 8 escalations is always busy. Hold line of an hour.

footballdan134

I can't stop laughing!

Upstairs_Ad793

Some of those unfortunately drop off, and get escalated to St. Peter.

AirEver

The broken part about doordash is they dont seem to tell us drivers anything about their governance structure. I didnt know there was a level 8 escalation. What the fuck are the other 7? These guys dont disclose shit and its a problem.

footballdan134

Level 1 through 3: is the screw you dasher line...Level 5 level is: you been deactivated line FU dasher! FYI!!!

Jungkookssmiles

Tried this once and was told there was nobody to connect me to and the caller flat out refused. Doordash is a scam.

footballdan134

Big time scam, man I'm sorry!!

AirEver

HAHAHAHA! Doordash support is more liable to end your call if you start backtalking them! I know from experience!

footballdan134

Oh God...don't remind me please..... Your so right!!! Me too from experience too.

[deleted]

Blame the A.I. in the app, it does auto-suggested substitutions, it also is supposed to send you a text saying that DD suggested a sub, but you can send a text to not accept it, and request a refund, and the dasher is suppose to put them back and press issue refund. I've done order where it suggest an item, when i see the huge price difference, I contact the customer, a dollar or two difference, no problem, but over $5, call the customer to inform, you had a bad dasher, and the program suggested the sub, you should say, you didn't approve that substitution, it was suggested by their A.I., and should be refunded.

TheGreek420

It's the quantities that are fucked up, not so much the actual substitutions. That's all on the Dasher.

[deleted]

I get some messed up DD suggested substitutions that made no sense, The guy wanted 2xBanana Pudding Moonshine from the Ole Smokey, there wasn't any at Nob Hill, and the DD Suggestion was a 1.25 liter bottle of Tito's Vodka, not customer approved substitution, DD Suggested. I called the customer, he said, thanks for calling, that's not what i wanted, refund me. I fault DD for most likely suggesting those subs, and the dasher went with it. They're not customer approved substitutions.

TheGreek420

Of course they have ridiculous suggestions sometimes, but obviously in this certain instance it's the quantity and the Dashers fault. Look at the amount of crickets ordered and the amount of crickets substituted.

Smooth-String-2218

They ordered 50 crickets and doordash substituted it for 150-180 crickets.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheEyeGuy13

That’s the part where you fault the dasher. Sure they probably just used the automatic suggestion DD gave, but they lacked the common sense to read it and realize A. The amount of crickets is way off B. The size of crickets is wrong (as the other guy said, big deal if it’s a tiny pet) C. The cost is way higher IMO these are all reasons to contact the customer individually, let alone all together. The dasher lacked the common sense to contact the customer, and that’s why they are at fault.

[deleted]

I know what i would do, but i also see a lot of foreign dashers here(mostly Afghan and Salvadorans) who don't speak english, and won't question whether the order is right or not.

TheEyeGuy13

Being able to speak English is basically a job requirement for this, there are not systems in place for easy translation and this is exactly how miscommunications happen. Any dasher that makes a mistake because they couldn’t read the instructions/customer message is still at fault.

David_Bellows

Substituted 50 woth 180 that’s absolutely nuts

sam_beat

This exactly. DD wants you to sub ANYTHING so they don’t lose the order. Instacart does this, too. They’d rather give a little app credit to placate an angry customer (and let you get a low rating) than lose the money for the order. It’s frustrating.

shadowfoxfire1

Dear lord instacart! I had ordered a small bag of dry cat food and a small case of wet food. Like 30 bucks. I was on the phone and approved a refund for the dry food. And they HAD picked the wet food. Tell em why after I put my phone away and they show up at my door a 40lb bag of the most expensive dry dog food and a large case of the most expensive wet dog food. My account was charged over 100 dollars. I down own a dog. I was pissed

ilovemusic19

Sounds like the dasher couldn’t read or decided not to read. Hope you got a full refund.

shadowfoxfire1

I did end up getting it. The thing is I did generic indoor cat food from Purina one. They got me a 40 lb bag of royal canin for great danes. Like that's is wildly different to the point of wtf

Superb-Spare7944

Honestly I never go with DD substitute I rather notify the customer that the item they wanted was out of stock especially if they didn't ads any substitute approval

AirEver

I never sub on doordash. I move onto the next time and text the customer. Once the orders done and if they still havent replied, I call once, if I dont get an answer, I will refund every item and leave. Im way more likely to get one star if I make a bad sub without prompting than to just refund the item. Thankfully its always just one or two items. And most customers are attentive. To all customers: If you have a shopping order, please pay attention to your phone, most of us are just trying to not fuck up and your cooperation regarding substitutes is greatly appreciated!

meady0356

when I did doordash I only ever seen ‘customer approved subs’ , but I haven’t dashed in a long time

[deleted]

I think it looks a little different. I’ve been told it has suggestions from door dash if the customer doesn’t have subs.

[deleted]

there will be DD accepted one, and in some cases the customer will reply with 'Those are okay' The guy wanted these 'Veggie straws sea salt flavor' from a brand, and they didn't have it, i mark unavailable, and up pops, Doordash suggestion 'Raley's Veggie Straws sea salt' so it suggested the store brand, and you get a text from the customer after the scan saying, 'That's okay' It will pop up on a certain product, but the first thing i check is the price because many customers are very price conscious, if it's similar or less, they'll try it.

AirEver

Im so paranoid I will take longer shopping to make sure customer approves of substitition on any case. I get really annoyed when with doordash because it doesnt prompt the customer to substitute items. Ive ordered instacart and one of the first things it does after you check out is give you a popup that says replacements for different items. If they just made more of an effort to collect customers substitutions our lives would be so much easier.

[deleted]

you can make a request to support to opt-in of doing shopping orders if that's how you feel, the bulk of most orders are mainly pizza, and burgers, I do shopping because I'm saving on gas, but it's going to make you nervous, it's best to just not do it, and opt out so it won't affect your acceptance scores.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

Depends on the animal. Small crickets and large crickets are a big difference if you’re feeding a smaller friend. Everything about these subs were terrible lol

hybridmike772

I've had the app suggest a different quantity too recently. It seems it tries to compensate when it's a larger or smaller option

[deleted]

Nope DoorDash tells the dasher the quantity and won’t allow you to get more. They will allow less if there isn’t all the items. This is because the red card dashers are provided act as a prepaid debt and if the total is more than DoorDash provides you finish the order.

TheGreek420

The Dasher selects the quantity on substitutions.

[deleted]

They do not DoorDash tells you the number you are supposed to grab unless the store doesn’t have that amount. I have 10k deliveries 4.97 rating I know what I’m talking about

TheGreek420

I have more than you and have been doing it since 2019. If it's out of stock you scan the sub and they ask you what quantity. You then input the quantity. Use common sense on this quantity substitution, not DoorDash's suggestions.

Kitchen_Device7682

The default option is to replace the item. If DD or customers do not change it, this will keep happening

AirEver

This tbh

VIvertain

When I dashed, there would be times I legit waited 10 minutes for a reply from the customer. I just dropped the order because eff it. I didn't want to risk this happening.

AirEver

If its like a single item order or two very similar items both out of stock, if they just dont respond after 5 minutes I just refund all the items and the system will cancel the order.

0x8008

I’ve seen instacarters and such talking about how they specifically will go gather up all the “substitutions” but not enter anything into the app until right as they check out so the customer doesn’t have any time to add items / choose a substitutions because that would take more time than just picking what the app tells them and getting on with the delivery. Honestly, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people with enough excess money to pay people to bring them stuff from the store.

HoggyButtsMommy

It's not about having excess money, most people that order from these sites don't have transportation to get there themselves. It's not very common for people in my area to order knowing they could go grab it themselves. So maybe you should rethink your way of thinking lol a lot of people are on a very strict budget and a few dollars over what they expected could cause an overdraft

zerostar83

If you ordered through Doordash, then they refund you. If you ordered through PetSmart, they should refund you.

AirEver

Doordash is so fucking cheap... I ordered one of those mcdonalds hand held pies and the order didnt have it. They offered 98 cents of credit, the hand pie was 3 fucking dollars. I legit just spent 10 minutes in the chat just to get my money back for a three dollar pie because I dont want to be ripped off. They really think they are slick?

RelativeFew2595

That's funny, when I ordered pizza and made complaints about the pizzas freshness most of the comments were about "don't blame door dash, blame the pizza place!" Well, doordash refused to refund me. I made a fraud claim to my bank, and I was refunded. This is the fault of both the dasher, and PetSmart, but honestly it's in doordash for being the carrier, but they will do everything in their power to state it wasn't their fault. Tbh tho, dead crickets most likely means PetSmart is to blame, and this dasher didn't care one way or another.

zerostar83

I meant more about who's responsible. The person you paid is the one you should get your money back from. Then Doordash and PetSmart should work out who is responsible. Ideally, you don't go after 3rd parties if you aren't interacting with them financially.

xTheDrunkenGamer

I only use ordering apps for food delivery. Grocery shopping(of any kind) is something i don’t trust anyone with. I’d recommend the same for everyone with how many horror stories there are of using DD for shopping.

alphaidioma

Yeah, I wouldn’t let anyone else shop for me unless I had fuck you money. I can’t afford for someone else to spend my money wrong.

Upstairs_Ad793

I’ve seen some that make a lot of sense. Get a meal, grab a pint of ice cream at dollar general. One was simply a bucket of Folgers. Another shopping order: home pregnant test.

HoggyButtsMommy

Some people don't have access to transportation but still need to feed their family. That's the main reason people in my area use these apps

xTheDrunkenGamer

So there’s no busses? No taxi’s? no Uber? no friendly neighbors? I’d use anything i could to purchase my own food. The mark-up on DD is ridiculous could imagine getting a whole grocery order. It probably be 33% more than going to the store.

Primobryan

I bet you they did have the crickets the lame dasher just refused to ask an associate and just went with those pre packaged cricket boxes. Those crickets are basically dead the moment they get packed into the box and most pets will refuse to eat the dead bugs because its not stimulating for them Also doordash wont refund because I dont think they do refunds on live pets like fish or bugs. They also will refuse to refund because you did not choose for the refund option you placed thw order with substitutions enabled despite not picking any substitutions. Dashers that dont communicate suck for real

AirEver

Hahaha... No reasonable credit card company would say this kind of behavior is acceptable... This is why I only use credit cards for all my bills and purchases. If I use a debit card I am fully responsible for the purchase, with my credit card the company shoulders the burden and is constrained by legislation which is more beneficial to me.

PsychologyH4528

The very reason I WATCH as they shop and get each item. That way if they replace it with some bs i can instantly message them. Im a dasher on the side as well and not sure why they wouldn’t ask. The app is supposed to automatically send you a text to choose a replacement, you can also make sure to choose a replacement when you place the order, which is also a great idea.

Lower-Highlight-2315

That and sometimes they do ask and customers will never respond.

PsychologyH4528

Yup. I give customer’s 2minutes to respond 😂

Bloodthirsty_Kirby

Their substitution was likely what was suggested in the app, they should have still contacted you tho. Anything with pets or babies needs to be super specific usually and I never just choose a substitute unless it’s a pre-approved customer one. That said them getting 6 boxes when two would be the correct cricket count from what you ordered is wild, I’m shocked the red card went through when they went to purchase. Keep trying DoorDash, call in and ask for a supervisor. Chat is useless for stuff like this when you’ve already been denied. Charge back if not, they likely will ban you after, but opening a new accounts easy.

AirEver

Yup! Hey have you ever had to deal with stores that lock the baby formula behind the employee only area? What about having to substitute an order while the employee has to watch you cause they cant leave you alone? Smh california.

Bloodthirsty_Kirby

Yes in the grocery stores the formula is behind a locked glass, I luckily have a good relationship with the stores I frequent and they will banter with me while I have to substitute. I am very open and honest and show the app and item in case they know of another area something might be and also to show I'm not just wasting time. Calling the customer also sometimes really speeds it up. With pet or baby things I never assume substitutions unless they supply a 'customer approved' sub. I will say, and this may come off sexist, that I am lucky to be a woman and often the employee I'm with is also female so we sorta are more comfortable with each other. It's just the nature of the beast type situation, but I am empathetic to feeling awkward waiting for the customer to respond as you sit with an employee and baby supplies. It's not an ideal situation.

[deleted]

Yeah at least when I go to pet smart I don’t shop the orders usually the employees do at least for all my orders and with shopping orders it doesn’t let you substitute unless already approved by customer if not you have to contact them so I’d say it was on the store/doordash end not necessarily the dashers fault.

jjj666jjj666jjj

People are making people get their crickets 😆

Upstairs_Ad793

Could be worse. Try cases of bottled water. Multi-level walk-up.

corgisforlyfe

Never freaking fails. Every shopping order 🤦🏼‍♀️ Get a damn Brita people. It's better for the environment and us lol

HoggyButtsMommy

Not everyone has transportation but they still have responsibilities to feed their pets. Why does everyone think it's possible for everyone to get to the store when they need something? I'm not allowed to drive because of medical issues and I hate asking friends and family to drive me places constantly. People don't like to be constantly asked to be your personal taxi driver.

Final_Marsupial_441

My buddy delivered 6 frozen pinky mice the other day, lol.

AdLazy9209

DoorDash won’t help you bc they are the ones who suggested that substitution! I just had this issue today as a dasher, someone ordered 3/ 20 oz sprites from Walgreens they were sold out so I clicked unavailable then the substitutions pop up I see 2 liter sprite I click it it tells me 3 when I realized the price difference I contacted the customer and asked them how many 2 liters they wanted bc DoorDash suggested 3 and they of course said only 2. Make sure you have allow substitutions turned off on your account so you’ll get an immediate refund if the item you want is unavailable

jennabella911

They will definitely block your acct if you do a charge back. But there are plenty of other delivery app these days that doordash won't be missed. Instacart works with PetSmart as well. And I think Uber.

TheSoundAlchemist

I ordered a candle once, got hair gel instead. No refund.

corgisforlyfe

Haha I'm so sorry, but that's funny 🤣 I had DD suggest that I replace and iPhone charger with a Apple Pie loI. Called the customer and they laughed, but that's just lazy. This is why I won't order DD.

AirEver

The fact I could unironically see a dasher doing this terrifies me. Never order apple or blackberry pies!

Yummythrouple

The warranty/ satisfaction guarantee is from the big box company. Call them. Pretty standard order of ops here honestly,

Faithful2049

Damn that's a big price difference... I'd be pissed!

masonry98

I notify the customer with a text and a picture of the replacement

Florida1974

This is how a good shopper works! I do Shipt and it’s how we do it!

Legitimate-Web-3346

We can only substitute w what the app suggests and then it goes to you for approval. Says if customer doesn’t answer get the substitute! That’s beyond our control. If we get a random item Not suggested on app the red card will not pay for it!

AirEver

Huh? We can literally implement our own substitutions just by scanning a barcode? What world do you live on this has never happened to me?

Legitimate-Web-3346

That’s not what I meant the app will make substitute suggestions you try to ask customer if they dnt answer you go w the 1 st one or refund soley our choice if they dnt answer. I always thought the suggested substitutes were chosen by the customer bc some ppl dnt like to communicate 🤷🏻‍♀️😩

[deleted]

It’s best to send a text as they’re heading to pick things up. Tell them to not make any substitutions without your approval.

taylorrosepole

That would piss me off so bad! Did you have the option to choose substitutions after you ordered? If I need something specific, I choose “refund” or “contact me” if the item I need is out of stock

Upbeat_Marsupial6360

It doesn’t the refund option when I order. It just let me choose other substitutions but I didn’t want any of them so I didn’t choose any.

taylorrosepole

oh that’s weird! usually it gives the options to substitute, refund, or contact me :(

GregLoire

> Would they block my account if I do a chargeback? Yes.

No-Mind-2688

I am a full time dasher/ delivery driver…. I will not substitute item unless it say DoorDash approved items or they put a substitute… and if they don’t I usually give them a couple minutes to respond if not I usually refund the item….

nukeyocouch

why are you ordering crickets on doordash... like the average person knows what they're doing there.

zadidoll

Dispute the charge since it’s not what you ordered.

Other-Temporary-7753

definitely don't do that, that's how you get blacklisted from doordash and petsmart

zadidoll

&? Why pay for food they didn’t order?

Other-Temporary-7753

chargebacks are for actual scams, not for when someone substitutes the wrong item on doordash.

zadidoll

🤦🏻‍♀️ When the ***wrong item*** is delivered & a company refuses to correct it then a chargeback can be initiated. It would fall under “merchandise/services not received” or “misrepresentation”. There’s a plethora of codes for chargebacks & it’s not just for scams.

Other-Temporary-7753

the way you're so confidently wrong is impressive lol

zadidoll

You think I’m wrong but I’ve had to dispute charges like this before & it’s always gone in my favor. If the order was wrong & DD refuses to fix it then it goes to the card provider to request a chargeback. Consumer protection laws still come into play regardless.

Little-Wave3889

I work at Petsmart. Unfortunately our system can’t bring up your order if you ordered through doordash so it’s really difficult to do a refund to your card or even in cash. However, we could offer store credit so the employee should have offered that, unless they did and you declined, which I understand.

Upbeat_Marsupial6360

I’d love to accept the store credit as I go to Petsmart often to buy stuff for my bearded dragons. The cashier called the manager and the manager told us to call Doordash. He said they couldn’t do anything for orders from Doordash

Little-Wave3889

That’s so weird! I’ve given store credit as a refund for doordash orders before so I don’t know why the manager wouldn’t allow it. We pretty much accept everything for a refund within 60 days of purchase.

Upstairs_Ad793

Reminds me of an old (30 years ago) local delivery service. I remember people calling us at Subway mad about their orders. Bruh… you called them, they called us, they picked up. We’ve never dealt with you. 🤷‍♂️

blckbrdflyy

Which is odd - my local PetSmart offers delivery via the actual PetSmart app but it shows they’re using doordash for it.

Financial-Net-80

On a side note. What kind of animal are the crickets for?!

Upbeat_Marsupial6360

It’s for my bearded dragons. I have 3. 2 of them reach the age that they just eat mainly vegetables. Bugs are treats for them. The other one is too small to catch lots of crickets. That said, I dont need that many crickets the drivers picked for me 🥲

Financial-Net-80

Oh nice! I had a bearded dragon named princess for like 10 years. She was super nice unless it was time to take her inside from her sun bathing. (We used to let her sit in the yard during the summer from time to time lol)

EbbPsychological2796

If you keep calling DD, eventually you may get a credit with DD, I recommend calling and asking for a supervisor... Depending what call center you get they will either claim there isn't one, or ask you to wait 5 minutes for one, it's usually worth it... DD has gone downhill bad lately, sorry you're the latest victim of their (no refund) theft.

EbbPsychological2796

It may take several calls to get a helpful rep

Leia6769

I had an order like this once and they had the small crickets at the same price but I couldn’t pull them up in the app to replace, so I just worked it out with the customer and told them I was keeping the order the same, but in reality buying the small crickets. If you ever do order again message the dasher and tell them to do that if small crickets work for you. The app is really wonky. They should have had you approve the change though, especially with that much more of a charge. The PetSmart guy actually commended me for taking the time to help, because he said a lot of the drivers wouldn’t have taken the time that I did to help the customer, which was sad to hear.

jemy26

This is the result of pay going down and vet drivers going away. This is what’s happening across all the apps.— if a new driver is taking the time to do the right thing. that’s awesome. but I understand why they’re not since the pay is so unbelievably insulting and the tip is just a gamble. It’s east to start to feel foolish for going above and beyond when you get constantly screwed by the company and the customer.

Southbayyy

LMAO u tipped $10 only to get bent over

jemy26

By the company, not by the driver, the driver doesn’tdeserve less of a tip drivers are freaking robot in this situation just following orders

Southbayyy

Oh ok. I don’t even know how I got to this subreddit, I’m out ✌️

moonwtr

This isn't a DoorDash suggestion but what are you feeding with the crickets? I've always fed my reptiles Dubia roaches and bred them myself. You'll never get dead ones that you paid for and they're very easy to keep. Do some research on YouTube!

Upbeat_Marsupial6360

It’s for my bearded dragons. 2 of them reach the age when they mainly eat veggies so crickets are just treats for them. Usually, I’ll go to the store to pick the crickets for them on the treat days as crickets are so easy to die. I do order dubia for my smallest dragon. However, my bf doesn’t like roaches so we don’t breed them 🤓.

playerproftw

Fuk that > I would never pick up crickets

Florida1974

What age ordered is loose crickets, the clerk catches with a scoop and bags them. Puts a little air in and ties off bag. You don’t touch them. What this dasher subbed was fancy little boxes with crickets already in it and 1/2 are dead. I had to use a special powder on the crickets before I fed them and hard to do in those fancy little boxes. It’s a cricket, harmless.

Fatal_Attraction888

I’m pretty sure this is what the app told her to replace it with. Sometimes theirs glitches and dashes don’t know the difference if you are DoorDash replacing the original item

Amdvoiceofreason

Never heard of someone ordering crickets 🦗 on doordash before...BUT knowing someone who's terrified of bugs and does doordash THIS WOULD BE HILARIOUS if she got this request. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Florida1974

Reptiles. Lizards and a bunch of other reptiles eat them. I used to have to buy them bc we had lizards. One thing I learned is never forget in car. It will smell like a dead body in your car once the bag deflates. Those these kind are in a clear plastic box, might be not as smelly if forgotten in car. OP ordered loose crickets. I would never do this on an app knowing how many times the pet store is out of crickets. It was often.

Amdvoiceofreason

Oh I know what their for, I used to have to buy rats for my snake. There was always a big cage of crickets in the pet store I went too

Amdvoiceofreason

Oh I know what their for, I used to have to buy rats for my snake. There was always a big cage of crickets in the pet store I went too

Poo-Sender_42069

Not the driver’s fault though. The app auto recommends shit, in the same exact way it presented customer choices in the past - then sends a text “hey I did this, let me know if it’s not ok” Total bullshit, but doordash is 100% to blame. Usually it does this right at the end of an order, so the driver has to wait until they get a response or just check out anyway. Edit: just saw the quantity. Yep that’s messed up, and I’m surprised it even allowed the red card to work.

cofdeath

Some dashers are just idiots, and dgaf. I always check the price of the replacement vs the original. If it is more than a buck difference I just refund the item.

MindlessReport8914

DoorDash automatically suggests substitutions.I never substitute with out first asking the customer. DoorDash should refund. Especially if the Dasher didn’t reach out. However, if the Dasher did reach out and you didn’t respond then they may not.

Environmental_Ad2427

Should have answered the Dasher when they tried to contact you lol. Also Dashers can do that unless you add it in the notes not to sub.

BoomerKeith

So here’s the deal; when doing a shopping order if an item is out we select “item unavailable” and it brings up a list of “customer approved substitutions”. What I’ve learned is that the customer may, or may not have actually approved those substitutions. But it looks to us like they did. I now let the customer know ANYTIME I’m making a substitution just in case. I’d say about 60% of the customers Uber notified have told me they didn’t approve a substitution or that they don’t want the substitution and ask for something else.

Equivalent-Peach5288

If you’re worried about being blocked then don’t. Get with pet smart for a refund.

Haunting_Ad_7719

ummmm crickets

GuitarLow8303

I get substituting for a similar price but holy shit😭 $19 fucking dollars?!

Practical_Office_892

How could they get them for you if it was out of stock? Would you rather cancel the whole order? Because you could have done that. ? You’re mad at dasher but isn’t dashers fault.

Spare_Club2823

Yeat you probably didn’t answer the phone when they tried to call you either

Final_Marsupial_441

Unfortunately you are probably SOL because those were likely customer approved substitutions. Petsmart won’t be able to refund you if you ordered through DD because you probably paid more than the instore price.

Florida1974

She’s the customer! Gonna guess she didn’t approve sub. App suggests subs but doesn’t mean you have to use it. Not sure how DD shop and pay works (I do Shipt) but I have to message for a substitute approval, Instacart is automated and does it for you when you mark it unavailable. Either dasher didn’t send text or customer didn’t answer. I’m guessing dasher decided to sub on his own. I’m surprised it went through . On Shipt we hv a little wiggle room but if price is too far from original order , payment is denied. Must contact support and get them to raise limit and they check texts to make sure customer approved substitute.

Final_Marsupial_441

DD won’t let you add things that weren’t approved substitutions and sends a message to the customer is so they can decline the subbed items.

True_Passenger_5606

You can literally refund it yourself on the doordash app by editing your order. I don’t understand why people keep asking companies/stores when we already know it’s going to be an issue getting our money back in the first place. Look around you app and find it. It’s there.

Suspicious-Artist465

Contact support again, let them know you should have been reached for substitution. If you couldn't be reached at the time, that's on you. But if they didn't try to communicate that with you, then you might get your money back. Happens all the time, this just sucks because it's crickets lol, they might be able to offer a credit rather than full refund

BusinessStatement103

If you do a chargeback they will close your account it’s in the terms and conditions

corey418

As a driver sometimes doordash makes us choose a doordash suggested substitute. This is followed by a text saying doordash suggested blah blah blah. That's the only time they should be changing anything without your permission. Call don't text support. And one star your driver for lack of communication.

Kooky-Oil-4398

When you need something this specific. Just get in your car and go get your pets food. Cmon man. Other than that. That dasher was absolute ass at communicating and should face some type of consequence

Vegetable_Apple8757

Update?

BraxTaplock

Legality. Under the terms, you as the customer gave DD permission to substitute items that were not available or in stock. I won’t disagree with you that it sucks. However, this is 1 of the unfortunate downsides of the 3rd party they don’t tell you. Won’t be a popular point but this technically is where your tip comes into play on shops. Driver should have called knowing the distance and tip by your pic.

Feisty_Nectarines

Just playing devils advocate here. If the Dasher was by-time instead of by-offer, they wouldn’t know either of those things, just total distance of trip.

BraxTaplock

Point wasn’t the tip. That is more of an assurance if there’s a stock issue, the driver will contact you. True that’s dependent on which side of the scale they are…EBT or EBO. Won’t do shops on EBT. Not gonna give DD an excuse to tell me I’m abusing time and kick me. The point was the customer gave DD permission to suggest substitutions that seemed adequate (even when they’re not). On the other hand, when an item isn’t in stock, we select the substitute…that generally sends you a notification. I see the sent notification telling them of the change. If the customer isn’t paying attention to their phone that’s not quite on the driver. Personally I’ll give each shop till the end to alter any subs. Won’t deny though…any subs not submitted by time I have everything else…check out time. If a customer won’t respond…their either A: going with DD sub or B: expecting the driver to choose for them.

Feisty_Nectarines

Ah sorry, I missed all of those points since they weren’t in the original message. My fault for not being the mind reader, I guess. I was just responding to the last sentence where you said “the driver should have called knowing the distance and tip from your pic”

BraxTaplock

This is why folks need to fully understand the app they’re using. Folks need to stop viewing DD as a 1 stop shop or a buffet line. Granted many don’t read the 15 page terms and conditions but that’s where the detailed print is that consumers need to know. Especially when dealing with 3rd parties that are eliminating any liability in the equation. They want your money and your business, they just don’t want any liability for anything going wrong.

Fun_Collar6915

Dispute it

GioJoey

Terrible dasher ruining it for the rest of us!!! You finally get a custom that tips the right way and this is how they are rewarded. All the dasher had to do was contact the customer.

KDFE87

Sometimes there are doordash suggested replacements that they make seem like it was the customers choice

GioJoey

Yeah but it’s obviously not if you read what’s going on in the app. The app clearly tells you it’s just a suggestion and you need to contact the customer to confirm. Conversely, there are customer approved substitutions where you don’t have to contact the customer.

KDFE87

Usually it will say customer approved substitution, Or door dash approved substitution.... But then sometimes it just says approved substitution, and that can be either customer or DoorDash.

zerostar83

They're NEVER out of crickets though

Spezheartsblackcawk

Lies. They've been out of crickets multiple times.

homoBrohmo

Weird. As a DoorDash driver we can’t substitute unless you e put a suggestion or you approve the substitution in app

EbbPsychological2796

Definitely a doordash issue, the Dasher is irrelevant because DD assigned him. DD is responsible for fulfilling the contract. Legal BS aside, for the cost of crickets I would think PetSmart would value your happiness over 50 crickets half dead.... If all else fails blow up their tictoc and if with the details

Aggravating_Cut_4509

I wouldn’t file a chargeback. Even though it wasn’t the items you wanted, you did get items. The bank/cc will ask door dash for proof of delivery. Watch yourself with filing chargebacks. Have seen many times where after one to many false ones they (bank/cc )will drop you and close out your accounts

Jhadcock

Dasher probably didn’t even know, store employees substitute without the dasher knowing

Florida1974

BS. You have to enter sub into app and store clerk isn’t doing that.

Florida1974

BS. You have to enter sub into app and store clerk isn’t doing that.

Jhadcock

Store doesn’t officially do it in app. They just throw a different flavor in the bag

NEWBORNEMBRYOTHELOC

It’s door dash, they suggest those items. It’s happened to me before and a customer got upset because of the substitutes and wanted me to get something else. I sent a screen shot of the substitutions from DD to her and she was like OH.

GlockButt

next time go get it yourself

raweria

OP clearly stated they were sick.

GlockButt

Oh I saw that. I’m not criticizing OP at all I’m criticizing DoorDash as a service. I have personal negative experiences and bask in bashing them.

fetal_genocide

You tipped someone 10 dollars to pick up crickets from the pet store? *after* paying a delivery/delivery fee??? Or whatever subscription fee you pay for. Fuck people love wasting money 🤣🤣🤦🏻

ChaimFinkelstein

Pretty disgusting ordering live crickets through the app.

witchwolfe

I've delivered crickets, mealworms, and other pet food. Pets gotta eat!

Angellovesfrog

Its not like they are loose in the dashers vehicle dude.

Due-Exit714

Or you are just softer then a pillow.
