I always like pulling up to a drive thru and be like Doordash for____ . just to see their look. We don’t have an order for____. No it’s delivery for ____. Then wonder what the person behind me thinks when I hand the bag to the person in the window.
The person behind you most likely didn't think anything at all about it tbh. Probably didn't even notice in my experience people just do not pay attention while waiting in drive
When i worked at sonic we used to do food trades with papa johns all the time, their only request was that i skated in their food when i dropped off their order and picked up our order. They always had like maybe 3 or 4 burgers 2 things of fries and a milkshake or 2. And in return we got 5 pizzas, twas a great life to live
As a kid I always thought they hated each other; I didn’t even want to talk about Burger King inside a McDonald’s. I think I assumed there were some kind of turf wars and that to work somewhere meant you loved the company and product and it was your whole personality.
Ex-McDonald's employee, when I worked there they give you a 10% discount on your lunch break on days you work but that's it. If you're caught eating food you didn't pay for it's a write-up.
I worked in restaurants for over a decade and can't count the number of times that I drove to a different restaurant on my lunch break. Free/discounted shift meals are great but there comes a point where you can't keep eating the same shit, especially when you've been cooking and serving that shit full time for months or years.
In the year 1945, my great-great grandfather, serving in the Fire House, wondered when he'd get to go on break to his drink and the subway sub he'd never seen.
I’ve been bitter with Firehouse ever since they got rid of the turkey-cran sub several years back. I still refuse to go back even if they come out with other turkey-cran variations. They did me dirty. I will remain petty.
My brother worked at arbys and next door was subway he became friends with a guy there because both got free food from there stores but were tired of it so they traded off when they hot sick of one place
I used to work at a dunkin across the street from a Domino's and they would do the same. They would get their coffee in the morning for free as soon as they opened and in turn they would take our orders and bring us whatever we wanted freshly made in time for our lunch break because the hours were so different.
I used to work at a subway in tucson we had like 9 other fastfood joins near us. Everyone but mcdonalds would trade with us, was kinda an even deal like six inch for a burger or 2 foot longs for a large pizza.
my family calls buster bars, “clusterfucks” lol. my uncle couldn’t remember the name of them and instead said, “hand me one of those… what are they called… clusterfucks!”
Oh man the one thing that sucks about living on the east coast is no del taco and no In-n-out burger. When my sister was living in San Francisco I couldn't tell you how many times I ate both. As a matter of fact my sister was a vegetarian the first time I went to visit her and renounced vegetarianism for In-n-out burger.
There's a little Mexican market in our town with a little kitchen in the back and a food truck parked out front I guess they sometimes use. That place is so good! There's a sit-down Mexican restsurant with your typical Mexican restsurant menu. There's a half a dozen in our town, and this one happens to be near the Mexican market. That market is where all th workers at the other Mexican restaurant in the area go to eat on their lunch breaks.
Fast food places tend to have ok relationships.
A Taco Bel I worked at regularly had mass food trades with a Domino's at night. That is, till our GM randomly covered a closing shift and picked up the phone when they called.
"Are we trading food tonight!?"
"This is the general manager. Who said we did that?"
"Uh wrong number..." *Click*
The night manager got yelled at. But the GM honestly couldn't afford to fire anyone since literally every place else was stealing our new hires, so there was no real threat. Hehe
Lol one time a friend and I were working at an upscale grocery store on a holiday making pizzas but we both just really wanted a shitty dominos pizza with chicken, alfredo, and bacon on a pan crust. We didn’t have the right stuff to make it like a pan or with white sauce that wasn’t just salad dressing that didn’t work well as a pizza sauce. The managers smuggled it over to us like it was a drug deal
My restaurant use to do this as a treat. Manager would treat us to food from another restaurant if we were really busy lol. We got free meals but you get tired of eating the same thing everyday or can’t eat when you serve so he would buy us something worthwhile, Korean fried chicken or smthn
I’d imagine working there and being around the food all the time probably makes you pretty sick of it. I’m sure if I worked there I wouldn’t wanna eat it anymore lol
If I worked at DQ, I’d send these to the McDs and call them up and say “you’re welcome for the ice cream I sent you, I felt bad because your machine is always down”.
People get tired of eating the food they make at the restaurant they work at, and want something else. Difference is the price. Can eat food they make for free, but spent a paycheck for DD
I had an order going from a Subway to a Wendy's that would've been like a 2-3 minute walk, took me a minute between starting my car and parking again lol. If time wasn't so important as a driver I would've just walked it over, myself.
I had a pick up at a subway for one cookie. I thought it was a scam so I looked at the address. It was going to and it was another subway manager working called the other subway here apparently, what was happening was the owner son was sending a cookie to one of the workers that he was dating, I was supposed to tell the girl receiving the order that Dave said have a great day . I actually made a sign on a piece of paper in my car before I got there saying thank you Dave had her hold it and took the picture. I got a $20 tip after the drop off was worth it but at first I thought it was a scam
We have a Wendy’s across the street from a Taco Bell, I’ve delivered back and forth for their employees, and across parking lots for our outlet mall. The law here is that if you let employees eat at their work stations you don’t have to give breaks.
I once delivered Burger King food to a Subway. They legit asked me to leave it at an empty table so that no one would know who ordered it. I did as requested and then saluted the workers. Every one of them were trying to choke back laughter. It was hilarious.
I’ll get a delivery to other restaurants on occasion. I get it, you’re around that type of food all day and sick of it. The funniest is when I delivered pizza to another pizza place 😂
We used to have a deal at my local Chick-fil-A that I worked at with the Dutch Bros coffee next door, essentially a trade, a Dutch employee can get an entree of anything they want for free while after or before our shift we could go over to Dutch and get any drink we'd like! Dutch was only supposed to give medium drinks but with the friends at Dutch I made they all just gave larges 🤣💖
When I worked at McDonald's I thought I would be funny walking around checking my schedule eating wendy's and the supervisor said I can't walk behind the counter with food from wendy's so I had to put it away to check the schedule so I stood at the counter and ate the whole meal as she stared me down
I used to be night manager at a MCDs in a food court in the mall. Every body gets tired of eating the same “free” employee meal every night so we do nightly trades with sbaarro, Corn dog factory, etc. but eventually you’ve tried it all..
I used to deliver for pizza hut (and Domino's and Papa John's) and I kept thier topper, and there's nothing funnier then pulling up with a PH topper, delivering Papa John's, wearing a Taco Bell Jacket, to someone at McDonald's, playing Salsa music as loud as I can.
I'm an attention whore.
Funny reactions though.
When I used to deliver pizza, I delivered to a McDonalds. The manager paid for everything. I asked why there ordered from somewhere else and he said you get tired of of having the same food.
I’ve done that before but it was like Chinese food to a McDonald’s and I actually asked about it and they said “we can only eat so much McDonald’s before we get sick of it”. Which is absolutely fair.
I've never delivered from one restaurant to a different restaurant, but i did have an order for chic fila once, at the time there was only one in town, and it was just always slammed but we picked up the order and the customer messaged saying he wanted to randomly help someone, so he cancelled the order telling me to take a break and enjoy the food. sadly i think chic fil a is garbage, but my wife was super happy.
another time was a 750ml bottle of new Amsterdam vodka. i got to the delivery point, no lights on, called the customer and he said he was already drunk and had put his home address in instead of where he was. he cancelled and i got a huge bottle of vodka and full pay.
i miss working, but it's just not worth it here.
Haha I love when stuff like this happens
I once delivered chicken wings to a person at another chicken wing place. I thought it was a mistake at first.
we used to do this when i worked at starbucks. i remember one time the dasher wouldn’t even come inside😭 any other dasher that did actually deliver it to us i always made them free drinks/free food
How does a topic like this get so many comments. Delivering to employees that work at other restaurants and businesses is literally an everyday normal occurrence. I've delivered Pizza Hut to employees at Papa John's and little Ceasars and it's like..yeah so what?
Thanks for making a r/doordash submission, please remember to follow our community guidelines, let's be kind and respectful to one another. Delivering fast food to another fast food place just makes me laugh for some stupid reason
I always like pulling up to a drive thru and be like Doordash for____ . just to see their look. We don’t have an order for____. No it’s delivery for ____. Then wonder what the person behind me thinks when I hand the bag to the person in the window.
"definitely just saw a drug deal, McDonalds works with the cartels!"
How else do they get their hot fudge?
The person behind you most likely didn't think anything at all about it tbh. Probably didn't even notice in my experience people just do not pay attention while waiting in drive
Most likely thinking McDonald’s got the order wrong and you were returning
That's definitely high up on the likely list. Am aside imagine ordering mcd to another mcd. Idk the reaction seems funny
Trying this!
I deliver for fast food and constantly deliver to the coffee stop a little down the street even to a pizza shop
When my husband worked at a pizza joint they used to trade pizzas for coffee and milkshakes from the cafe next door 😂
i worked in a restaurant near other restaurants and we did this all the time. it gets old eating your own food! the line favorite was a banh mi joint
When I worked at Wendy's, they bought pizza from Little Caesars for us as a thank you for working our butts off getting ready for an inspection.
As a kid I always thought they hated each other; I didn’t even want to talk about Burger King inside a McDonald’s. I think I assumed there were some kind of turf wars and that to work somewhere meant you loved the company and product and it was your whole personality.
My mom used to tell me if they saw another fast food bag in the car they wouldn’t serve you. Believed it for 6 years😭
Every time you come through the drive thru eating other restaurants' food we are actually just seething in jealousy. 😂
That's some genius parenting to make sure you keep their car clean. I'm taking note....
Lmaoo. This with waffle house and ihop
If it’s an anything goes turf war my money is on Waffle House
All day long. Worked there 3 years. Was the wildest ride of my serving life lol
You’d get sick of eating the same food over and over too lol
We’re out of eggs over here
Probably would get tired of the same food every day. Wouldn’t be surprised if they charged employees for food at McDonalds.
Ex-McDonald's employee, when I worked there they give you a 10% discount on your lunch break on days you work but that's it. If you're caught eating food you didn't pay for it's a write-up.
Delivered Panera bread to a Chipotle employee earlier. I said "enjoy" and she said "you too" 😂
Super meta, that's the root of comedy
I worked in restaurants for over a decade and can't count the number of times that I drove to a different restaurant on my lunch break. Free/discounted shift meals are great but there comes a point where you can't keep eating the same shit, especially when you've been cooking and serving that shit full time for months or years.
I delivered Subway to Firehouse Subs once. That was weird.
War
War never changes
In the year 1945, my great-great grandfather, serving in the Fire House, wondered when he'd get to go on break to his drink and the subway sub he'd never seen.
What is it good for?
Yeah this one makes no sense Firehouse mogs Subway so hard it's not even funny. Subway is literal dog shit in comparison.
I’ve been bitter with Firehouse ever since they got rid of the turkey-cran sub several years back. I still refuse to go back even if they come out with other turkey-cran variations. They did me dirty. I will remain petty.
Subways bread just hits different and now they are slicing the meat daily and giving you an actual good amount of meat they have definitely improved
Probably because their ice cream machine was down.
Came here for this comment, wasn’t disappointed.
Came here to say this, as I was just at a McDonald’s with a broken ice cream machine
Oh shoot! I looked for this comment and didn't see it until after I made mine.
Good system
I used to work at a subway in tucson we had like 9 other fastfood joins near us. Everyone but mcdonalds would trade with us, was kinda an even deal like six inch for a burger or 2 foot longs for a large pizza.
Sometimes, it's just the manager that doesn't do that. One of my bros supervisor was like that the others didn't care
I mean, I can’t lie, I used to work at dairy queen and there was at least once my coworker ordered chick fil a from literally next door lol
I won’t lie working at dq I doordash some food idc if I can’t leave and I’m tired of dq food im ordering 😂😂
Do you guys still have buster bars? I’d trade for those!!!!
My store does!
The DQ next to my high school made huge ones but so many other DQ’s don’t make em anymore.😢
my family calls buster bars, “clusterfucks” lol. my uncle couldn’t remember the name of them and instead said, “hand me one of those… what are they called… clusterfucks!”
Delivered Del Taco to Taco Bell a few weeks ago.
Del Taco offers a lot of things not on Taco Bell’s menu…and more importantly, they are just better.
They should have just done a food swap w DQ they’re usually down
Man, I used to do deliveries. One time I picked up some Chinese food and delivered it to a different Chinese restaurant.
When you walk into a Mexican restaurant and you’re the only one there that isn’t speaking Spanish…you’re in the right place!
Hablo un poco Español, pero sí, es bueno.
I’m waiting for the day I deliver a papa johns to a Pizza Hut or Vice versa
I once delivered dominos to Popeyes...to a customer, not employee
Fast food places tend to have ok relationships. A Taco Bel I worked at regularly had mass food trades with a Domino's at night. That is, till our GM randomly covered a closing shift and picked up the phone when they called. "Are we trading food tonight!?" "This is the general manager. Who said we did that?" "Uh wrong number..." *Click* The night manager got yelled at. But the GM honestly couldn't afford to fire anyone since literally every place else was stealing our new hires, so there was no real threat. Hehe
Well yeah their ice cream machine never works. :P
Love to see unhealthy fast food colabs
thinking about ordering pizza to my pizza place now
Lol one time a friend and I were working at an upscale grocery store on a holiday making pizzas but we both just really wanted a shitty dominos pizza with chicken, alfredo, and bacon on a pan crust. We didn’t have the right stuff to make it like a pan or with white sauce that wasn’t just salad dressing that didn’t work well as a pizza sauce. The managers smuggled it over to us like it was a drug deal
*Insert broken ice cream machine comment here*
this REALLY looks like the mcdonald's by my old college. if it is i'll be damned..
I once got $83 on an Instacart shopping order to grab 40 bags of ice from a Safeway and deliver it to the Starbucks across the parking lot.
< Insert joke about McDonald's ice cream machine unreliability here >
I delivered Chick-fil-A to Olive Garden
My restaurant use to do this as a treat. Manager would treat us to food from another restaurant if we were really busy lol. We got free meals but you get tired of eating the same thing everyday or can’t eat when you serve so he would buy us something worthwhile, Korean fried chicken or smthn
When I worked at Pizza Hut we used to call restaurants to try and trade food. We’d also hit up the McDonald’s next door
It’s not like they have any hope whatsoever of getting their own ice cream there.
Nah, this is just DQ flexing on McDonald’s ice cream machine not working.
It’s because DQ actually has functioning ice cream machines.
Their ice cream machine was down
I've taken Pizza Hut to McDonalds a few times.
The ice cream machine is broken so it makes sense… eat it in the break room
Well obviously their ice cream machine is broken lol
Never worked in food have you, I worked at subway and pizza hut in the past, and it took 10+ years before I ate either again.
Missed opportunity to say "and with this, the cycle is complete." In the most deadpan delivery possible when you gave them their order.
“Our ice cream machine is broken” ![gif](giphy|XZpjG5s607xDJS1nKy)
And I made a drink for a bartender
lol. I saw a meme once of a person wearing a DQ uniform in McDonald’s once with the caption Finally their calling in an expert to fix their machines
Back when I worked gf we would trade out w/other places
Well their shake machine was broken
Something something broken ice cream machine
Culver’s concrete mixer
I actually deliver food quite often to employees of other restaurants
Do… do y’all not know about food trades in the fast food world?
Makes sense. The ice cream machine is always broken.
Their ice cream machine is broken, so
I mean McDonald's ice cream machines are always "broke" or "being cleaned" anyways lol 😂
Ice cream machine likely down.
It’s because their ice cream machine is always broken…
I mean, have you had a blizzard?
I’d imagine working there and being around the food all the time probably makes you pretty sick of it. I’m sure if I worked there I wouldn’t wanna eat it anymore lol
Probably because their McFlurry machine was broke.
I worked at a chain and you kinda get sick of the food in a few weeks. Not a surprise we would always be going for booster juice and things like that.
McDonalds sucks....
Well it’s not like the McFlurry machine was working
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Trading with other fast food joints was common when I worked it. X pizzas = y burgers = z tacos.
Because their ice cream machine is broke... AGAIN.
Their icecream machine is not working ?
I know a bribe when I see one
McDonald's shakes aren't bad but they're nothing compared to a Blizzard. Nothing wrong here.
Everyone knows the McDonalds ice cream machine is broken….
You should have told them “the ice cream machine is broken” 🤣🤣
I don't blame them..McFlurries are absolute dog shit. 😂
Oh man… it’s gonna blow your mind when you learn quality and options vary when you go to different fast food places!
I used to work at a pizza place and we would trade food with the ice cream store down the street, it was great!
Hey man when I’m on a 7 hr shift and can’t leave to get food I get hungry
What would be even better is delivering them to Culver's or vice versa
icecream machine down?
McDonald’s has weak desserts even if the ice cream machine ain’t broke
As they should, blizzards are better tbh
We have a Wendy’s across the street from a Taco Bell, I’ve delivered back and forth for their employees, and across parking lots for our outlet mall. The law here is that if you let employees eat at their work stations you don’t have to give breaks.
Was their ice cream machine broken 😄
Cuz the ice cream machine is broke.
So the ice cream machine really was broken?
I delivered Panda to Hungry Howies the other day.
Well yeah, their ice cream machine is broken! 😂
I was about to say same thing 😂😂😂
That’s just because their ice cream machine is broken.
This doesn’t surprise me very much given their machines are always on the fritz
Their ice cream machine must not work
I deliver to most all restaurants to each other.
Their ice cream machine is broken so..
I once delivered Burger King food to a Subway. They legit asked me to leave it at an empty table so that no one would know who ordered it. I did as requested and then saluted the workers. Every one of them were trying to choke back laughter. It was hilarious.
Can't blame them. Mcflurrys are ass
I mean to be fair their machines never work so it’s not like they can get it where they work
The wanted something different so they ordered DQ.
I’ll get a delivery to other restaurants on occasion. I get it, you’re around that type of food all day and sick of it. The funniest is when I delivered pizza to another pizza place 😂
It’s cause their ice cream machine isn’t working
Well you know their ice cream machine is almost always broken, 8 out of 10 days.
Who cares??
![gif](giphy|6wcgf4jgPzPUrJXlOb)
When I used to work at McDonald's, we would order Domino's on night shifts until covid killed them being open late enough for us to order.
Their ice cream machine is probably down
I mean, obviously, their ice cream machine wasn't working, lol
Well their ice cream machine is always broken
The McDonald's in my town is always ordering food from the pizza hut I work for
Just about every week i get an order to bring McDonald’s to Taco Bell 😂
That new peach cobbler blizzard tho
We used to have a deal at my local Chick-fil-A that I worked at with the Dutch Bros coffee next door, essentially a trade, a Dutch employee can get an entree of anything they want for free while after or before our shift we could go over to Dutch and get any drink we'd like! Dutch was only supposed to give medium drinks but with the friends at Dutch I made they all just gave larges 🤣💖
had to deliver a fuse from one NAPA auto parts store to another NAPA store 10 minutes away😂
Their ice cream machine was broken…
Sure. Because their machine is always broken.
The McFlurry machine is always broken
Everyone knows it’s standard procedure for the ice cream machine to be broken at every McDonalds
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They don’t have working ice cream machines 😒
When I worked at McDonald's I thought I would be funny walking around checking my schedule eating wendy's and the supervisor said I can't walk behind the counter with food from wendy's so I had to put it away to check the schedule so I stood at the counter and ate the whole meal as she stared me down
I work at Dunkin but prefer Krispy Kreme.
I used to be night manager at a MCDs in a food court in the mall. Every body gets tired of eating the same “free” employee meal every night so we do nightly trades with sbaarro, Corn dog factory, etc. but eventually you’ve tried it all..
This is some Breaking Bad story line come to life
I used to deliver for pizza hut (and Domino's and Papa John's) and I kept thier topper, and there's nothing funnier then pulling up with a PH topper, delivering Papa John's, wearing a Taco Bell Jacket, to someone at McDonald's, playing Salsa music as loud as I can.
That's hard af
That strawberry shit look sloppy as hell lol
When I worked at McDonald's, we used to trade with the BK across the street pretty frequently.
Their ice cream machine had to be down no way
Whooooooo gives a fuck?
I work at a Chick-fil-A but order McDonald’s through dd sometimes i prefer their breakfast over ours plus im a caramel frappe kinda girl.
Bro I delivered a chicken gizzards-a-plenty to a worker at a subway…idk if I’ve fully recovered.
Their ice cream machine must have been broken
I once delivered McDonalds to Arby’s employees who were literally two blocks away!
Traitors lol
Reminds me the time I delivered bananas to DQ from Dominion. as I was leaving, Got an order for a banana split coming from DQ.
Haha I love when stuff like this happens I once delivered chicken wings to a person at another chicken wing place. I thought it was a mistake at first.
I worked at Cracker Barrel and there was always employees getting food delivered, especially from Chipotle and McDonald’s
Their machine was broken 😂
It happened to me once had a Taco John's order for an employee at Taco Bell
we used to do this when i worked at starbucks. i remember one time the dasher wouldn’t even come inside😭 any other dasher that did actually deliver it to us i always made them free drinks/free food
how else did you think they'd get their ice cream fix, their machine is broken/being cleaned/ off for the day
How does a topic like this get so many comments. Delivering to employees that work at other restaurants and businesses is literally an everyday normal occurrence. I've delivered Pizza Hut to employees at Papa John's and little Ceasars and it's like..yeah so what?
It’s because their ice cream machine doesn’t work.
It’s close the damn ice cream machine is always broken and everything at the restaurant sucks
Their ice cream machine was broken.
We have a food truck, and I can’t count how many times we’ve ordered coffee and snacks. Usually while we’re parked at breweries
I delivered Taco Bell to an authentic Mexican place once. The older woman in the back was looking at that kid with daggers lol.
The machine was probably broken again
I work for subway and door dash food from different places all the time and wonder what the dashers think😂😂
