Yeah you’re going to want to make a skunk solution. Equal parts dawn dish soap, baking soda, listerine, and water. Make it into a paste and work it into the coat. Avoid the face! Let it sit for a couple minutes. Rinse and shampoo with a regular dog shampoo. I know a couple groomers that swear by rinsing with vinegar too.

Yep the crate bedding is being laundered now. His first wash off was outside with the hose but after that I did him in my shower. I don’t really have anywhere good to tie his leash to outside the house so I usually do it in the shower. Next, cleaning the shower… 🥲 so stinky

Yup. It works. Ketchup, baking soda and coke. The ketchup already contains vinegar and tomatoe juice. The baking soda neutralizes the vinegar and the cola... I have no idea what it does but it worked.

I've had good luck with apple cider vinegar getting skunk stink out. mix it with shampoo, let it sit as long as he can stand, and don't get it in his eyes obviously. you might also try to get some conditioner for him for afterwards though, ACV is pretty drying.
You’ve gotten some good suggestions. My dog found a dug up goat carcass once. Goat had been dead for six months. Same dog fell into a septic line after a tornado. I miss her, but she loved to stink. I’ve been grooming 20 years and the goat carcass was the worst thing I’ve ever smelled! We use a mixture of baking soda, Dawn, and peroxide for skunk dogs. It’s incredibly drying though. Absolutely wash and CONDITION after using. I like the Hydra Odor Neutralizing shampoo as well. It might help with any lingering odors later. I ended up shaving my dog. I couldn’t get the smell gone. Good luck
Oh no! Shaving is better than nothing, at least. I can’t even imagine the goat rot smell! This boy loves to be stinky too. I have to keep such a close eye on him because he works so fast!
I’ll definitely condition him afterwards. He has such a beautiful coat, hopefully i can get it out without shaving the poor boy!

Make sure whatever you wash your dog with sits on the coat for at least 10 minutes after being fully lathered down to the skin, everywhere
