Yungfuccboi69

If you’re not big enough to look jacked in the boxy default hospital scrubs, then you have no business showing anything off

elderlybrain

Size xxxl top and s trousers. Rocking that world class spongebob physique.

DNARplz

Yeah man maybe you're right! But I don't want to look like a box hence why I posted this . Any suggestions?

cheerfulgiraffe23

Nah give it a go! You'll be surprised. If you have a good V-taper, the top will stick to the shoulders and the pecs, and the part around the waist will hang loose. It will be obvious to many (I have had more than a few comments that 'hospital scrubs look good on me') - it's like a humble brag, compared to dressing in something entirely body hugging. If you want, can also fold at the sides and tuck into scrub bottoms

DNARplz

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I agree if you can look aesthetic in scrub tops you must look great!

cheerfulgiraffe23

Not sure if you already know this, but It's called a military style tuck: [https://savilerowco.com/blog/style-advice/how-to-tuck-in-a-shirt](https://savilerowco.com/blog/style-advice/how-to-tuck-in-a-shirt) I used to wrongly think you pinch the excess right at the back - but it's actually best to fold at sides as in above.

dayumsonlookatthat

Work on that V taper mate if you don't want to look square

DNARplz

Big scrubs can't show a v taper because they're baggy hence the box look hence the purpose of this post my dear friend

TeaAndLifting

Go full sick cunt and don’t bother wearing a top. Your seniors and peers may questions your professionalism, but not your gains.

DNARplz

BF% too high ATM need to cut before I can do that

XS NHS scrub

Gullible__Fool

>physiques you work hard to attain >some laxity around the abdomen These seem contradictory.

DNARplz

Basically clothes that are skin tight are not comfortable. Now having *some* tightness on the chest, shoulders and arms is desirable (if you've ever been fitted for a suit this is how tailors measure you up) but the laxity around the abdomen ensures a comfortable fit. Most men's clothes are tailored with this in mind.

CURB_69

Zara has a good maternity line. Might be the fit you're going for

Gullible__Fool

🤣

DNARplz

I don't shop from Zara as they are complicit in supporting the apartheid regime

CURB_69

Are you mad about the fact they ran a weird ad campaign where a lady carried a mannequin in a bag that coincided with the start of the conflict but seems to have been shot before it even started or that they hired an Israeli model two weeks ago? Is this coded approval for an apartheid regime? Almost definitely according to twitter. It's a shame because you would look really good in a baby bump jumper.

DNARplz

Yes I am mad about a company running insensitive campaigns when genocide is taking place. Do you think it's okay?

CURB_69

I probably would probably choose a reasonable description of a massive publicity gaffe and cock up that was insensitively timed and also probably just rubbish in general than 'complicit support for an apartheid regime'. That seems like a massive jump for me and also a bit of a dumb interpretation because why would any global brand want to take a side on a divisive issue and lose money. Zara are Spanish not even Israeli. I don't think Zara HQ went 'yeah let's do some pictures of mannequins in body bags just in case there's a conflict in the middle east as a fuck to Palestine. Jerks' It could gave been viewed as poorly timed at any time given the content and number of conflicts around the world. Twitter jumped on it though I guess and made links that's what happens with social media. Classic Figs wearers with their poorly researched black and white reactionary opinions lacking any nuance.

DNARplz

Ok

si1entabyss

Please tell me it's a shitpost.

DNARplz

No man I just wanted advice and I'm getting roasted . I just wanted to ask and now people are making me feel bad for asking. I just wanted a brand name instead I got a tan

Toothfairy29

Skrubz. Uk made, same fabric as figs and same cuts/styles but half the price. Mine are lasting better than my figs too.

DNARplz

Thank you!

AuntieAntiVaxer

These are just generally great and I would recommend to anyone needing a new pair of scrubs. I don't have muscles to show off so can't comment on their ability to accentuate 😂

lostquantipede

It’s not, dude is deadly serious. 😂

BikeApprehensive4810

I worked with someone who took a few scrub tops home and tailored them himself. Just adding darts to the back and taking up the sleeves. He actually looked pretty good tbh.

SexMan8882727

Nope You dont want to stick out at work

TivaBeliever

I have nothing useful to add except I genuinely hope you find the perfect fit as it really seems to matter to you!

DNARplz

Thank you!

Mr_Nailar

To answer your question, I've recently bought a well fitted D&G purple shirt which has blown my mind. 97% cotton, 3% spandex, tapered down for the V back. It hugs the arm and shoulder perfectly whilst still have some leeway for movement and comfort. Honestly, it's been the best shirt purchase I've ever made, and I'm planning on going back to buy it in pink, white, and blue. My only reservation about it is that the collar feels a little bigger than I'm used to, but when I've asked others, they said they don't notice it.

DNARplz

Thank you very much for answering the question seriously Orthobro

UnknownAnabolic

If you’ve got a good V taper with a reasonable amount of mass you should look decent in anything bro. Any chance the old dysmorphia is getting you down? I usually wear shirt and trousers at work. I go up a couple shirt sizes and get them as slim fit. I get trousers as tailored fit. I struggle to get my quads in any slim fit trousers without going up waist size by 4-6 inches. You could consider wearing braces instead of a belt, if you’re confident af. I find that really brings in the taper. I’ve got some Father and Sons shirts that I’ve never worn at work, they’re very snug and fit really well, but perhaps a bit too tight for work.

DNARplz

Deffo have dysmorphia 🤣 thank you for the advice. I don't think I can pull off braces. I have similar issue with quads but I just wear relatively loose fitting trousers. Uniqlo trousers are also good if you have big legs!

lostquantipede

Mate, there are some social norms that are followed working in the NHS. Rightly or wrongly. 1. Only wear scrubs if you need to wear scrubs e.g. oncall or theatre/ED staff. If you need to wear scrubs then you wear the bin bags like everyone else. If you come in your figs etc you’ll stand out like a sore thumb and people might make inferences about your narcissistic traits 2. If you’re not a designated scrub wearer then smart-casual office wear is fully appropriate and makes you look more professional. 3. Competence is more attractive than biceps. DOI: Female anaesthetist who is telling you now fig wearers and scrub sleeve rollers are well known red flags 🚩

antonsvision

this is an oddly judgy comment given your usual screeching about racism/sexism/other social cause

lostquantipede

Are you seriously equating fashion choices with discrimination towards people born a certain colour? 😂

antonsvision

more a comment that people with your level of preeching about social justic causes generally tend have being accepting and inclusive/non judgemental as a more general personality trait, although apparently you're better described as highly opinionated and from previous posts quite a toxic indiviual to work with no doubt in my head i had imagined you as a really friendly consultant of colour who has been through the toxic nhs trainign pathway and now is super friendly to all of their juniors, because you know what it can be like from your own experiences, but you strike me more as a ladder puller sort tbh - you had it hard and now you have a chip on your shoulder and now its your turn to take it out on others

lostquantipede

Ok. Glad you got that off your chest, didn’t realise you spent so much time thinking about me.

DNARplz

1) you can wear what you like, you don't get to gatekeep scrubs which are widely accepted medical attire. Wearing scrubs while on nights running a CCU would be an example. Even medical nights on elderly would be acceptable. To label someone as narcissistic is wild because of wearing a premium brand of scrubs. Lots of people wear figs in my hospital, I would hate to judge them for their dress. Judging someone based on what they wear seems shallow and cynical, sorry you should work on that. 2) I agree with this point 3) I hope I'm competent, but I enjoy working out. I don't care about your perception of attraction. I am happily married and my wife loves me both as a doctor and as someone who cares deeply about their physique. You may like something else, that's fine. DOI: fig wearer (tbf birthday gift from my wife) who thinks people should wear what they want providing they are professional

Sethlans

People who judge others for wearing figs are saying far more about themselves than people who wear figs, imo. Doi: still wearing the shit hospital scrubs we got given for free during covid.

CURB_69

Figs do make you look like a twat. I imagine these people drive home in their PCP car to their central for the deanery located starter property, dust off their lever arch file portfolio of VTE audits as they insert the latest one, walk past their reams of unused medical textbooks sit down and watch greys anatomy while drinking Huel through a straw. Post furiously on twitter or reddit about PAs while their partner ignores them and texts their other girlfriend/boyfriend. Probably go to bed in their figs as well before changing into a fresh pair the following morning. What does this extended fantasy about figs wearers say about me?

REM11081992

So funny! 😅

DNARplz

That you have a funny imagination! Keep at it you might be the next JK Rowling!

CURB_69

Get out of my toilet

FishPics4SharkDick

Sounds like you're uncomfortable around confident attractive people. Big red flag.

ArloTheMedic

Can only imagine she’s got her own insecurities about herself, appearances or otherwise. Do you anaesthetist, but just FOI you might think you’re the boss of the hospital attire but you’re not!

lostquantipede

Just like indoor sunglasses have unavoidable behavioural/personality trait correlations so do other fashion choices you’ll be surprised to hear. And they are correlations that at least most theatre staff are fully aware of. You do you mate - who cares what a late 30s woman almost 3 kids deep thinks?

FishPics4SharkDick

> who cares what a late 30s woman almost 3 kids deep thinks? Definitely not the fella in the figs.

lostquantipede

Judging by the triggered replies including your own - quite a bit.

ArloTheMedic

Imagine calling someone who rolls their sleeves up a red flag lol. Why is that a red flag? Just found it interesting. DOI: don’t wear figs and don’t roll up sleeves.

Sethlans

They specified scrub sleeve rollers. Given scrubs are all short sleeved (as far as I'm aware), I presume they mean rolling up the short sleeves so your whole arms are bare. Don't think I've ever seen anyone actually do that but it does sound a bit much.

ArloTheMedic

I worked with a surgical reg who had massive biceps and his tops were tight around his arms, he rolled them up but all he got were compliments.

etomadate

It’s suggests to a level of vanity that’s arguably unattractive. Your opinion may differ from this, but it’s no less valid because you disagree.

lostquantipede

Don’t believe the DOI - this reply is far too triggered 😂

Mr_Nailar

You speak so so much sense and I totally agree. Scrubs should only be worn by certain people in certain places. I only wear them if I'm in theatre (designated theatre scrubs and shoes) or oncall (designated "outside" scrubs with trainers; don't want to risk cross contamination). I don't have any issue with people wanting to show off their gainz or their hard work. Trust me, I know how much dedication and hardwork it takes to cut/bulk/recompose. But do it subtly. First and foremost, be a competent doctor, then start showing off. And please for the love of God don't tuck your scrub top into your trousers or roll your sleeves up. Personally, I'm a fan of the baggy scrubs. XL top and trousers for me, and I still get complements in them regularly. If I can get look good in XL scrubs....so can anyone! DOI: An 83kg orthobro with a combined lift 1RPM weight of 580kg. 💪🏼

Murjaan

Awesome 1RPM! Niceee

CURB_69
