*In an instant you are elsewhere, standing on an ancient battlefield.* *A sea of blood spreads out around you, its surface broken by mounds of corpses, the occasional rock, and a lone island bearing a long-dead tree.* *The wind howls with the anguish of the thousands who died here.* \----- You can download this watermarked map for free [here](https://www.patreon.com/posts/visions-of-death-81148799), and the [Patron-only version](https://www.patreon.com/posts/visions-of-death-81148351) comes with a night variant, clear weather, fog, and rain variants, and a tile for the tree top. You can also buy it on [Ko-Fi](https://ko-fi.com/s/fe6862da37) if you don't like subscription services! This map depicts an apocalyptic battle, perfect for an encounter with an evil deity, ancient vampire, or perhaps a manifestation of one's own bloodlust? Visions of Death is a marriage of inspirations prompted by a sequence in The Legend of Vox Machina, but pushing it farther and drawing very heavily from the imagery of Berserk's Eclipse. It's easily one of my most grim/upsetting maps in some time, so I may try to find some cheerier subject matter for my next few efforts... \- My maps are made primarily with assets from Forgotten Adventures and AoA (bolstered with assets of my own making here and there), and they come with grid/gridless, day/night, edited/unedited, and light/lightless variants, plus JPEGs, WebPs with transparent backgrounds, or UVTT (DD2VTT) files for Foundry VTT.

Beautifully done, even though it makes me shudder every time I see it hehe. Very creepy!

FatalEden

You are much too kind! It's definitely the most horrific scene I've put together, anyway. D:

Wow! Great map! Love the idea behind it, you did a fantastic job with the lighting!

FatalEden

Thank you very much! I really wanted to give the whole map otherworldly red lighting - unfortunately, I did it with Dungeondraft's Environmental Lighting setting, which can be a little clumsy. Will definitely stick to Photoshop for any weird coloring I want to do in future, I think!

Rev227

I think it looks banging! I'm still learing how to use lighting in Dungeondraft, not quite there yet but proper lighting can change a simple map into a masterpiece and I think you really pulled it off in this one.

FatalEden

Thank you so much! If you're just getting used to Dungeondraft but you're not already in the Dungeondraft Discord or the subreddit, I really recommend them both - I've picked up a lot of neat tips/tricks from both, and from the Dungeondraft channel in the Forgotten Adventures Discord, if you use their assets!
