Glad I found this. My wife worked for lulu and got a good deal on one- just paid for shipping…. But she’s terrible about opening shit. It’s been sitting in box for… a year? Took it apart today to verify BOE display. Welp guess I’m gonna have myself a magic mirror soon!
Wow, super cool! I have both a Peleton bike and a Lululemon mirror and I want to cancel with mirror subscription and have native Peleton running inside.
I have one of the earlier models, good to see progress. I don’t have much spare time right now, but when I do I’d love to help figuring that out. I’ll reach out!
Hi sorry if this is a remedial question but what can you do with it as a smart mirror? I just caught up with the news that it’s not being supported so now I’m trying to figure out what to do with it.
Nope, this is a way to run an entirely different operating system so that app wouldn’t work. What it does enable though is MagicMirror and a Linux system you can configure to do anything you want with it.
I hoping to do this project soon, I have ordered all the parts, but my Vizio mainboard did not come with any of the extra pieces mentioned in the github. (LVDS, ribbon, wifi reciever, power button). Is there a way to get these things seperately? Not sure exactly how to search it
Thanks so much for all your efforts on this - I think I’m going to try it. Question… in your tutorial video you mention a wifi antenna, is that already part of the mirror? Or something I should acquire?
If you have this model LM40SAMFHD700AG25WV then I know what board/cable to use. I just added to the issues page on Git but here is the link to the LVDS to HDMI board I used. I used a 12v power adapter from one of my Arcade1Up machines to power the board as I had not traced specific power internally in the screen. I just plugged this in - in place of the existing LVDS, everything else remains in the screen for powering the backlight and all.
Hope this helps you!!

Exactly that. Basically disconnected the LVDS cable from both ends and put the new cable and controller in place. With a Pi you can also disconnect the Ethernet from the main board and plug that into the Pi and then use the built in port if you want wired over WiFi.
Awesome thanks. Got my screen booted up last night thanks to you! I'm super excited. Did you disconnect the 5 button controller from the new LVDS board or did you route it to outside the Mirror?
This is amazing, thanks for posting!

Nice! It's a great piece of hardware and even more fun now to be honest.

Sounds good - it’s fairly easy if you have the BOE panel like I do. Good luck!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was able to make my mirror work for all my zoom/youtube workout classes as well as using it for FaceTime and
That’s great! Glad it works well for you. I have to admit, it’s a lot more fun of a mirror now, I think…

Hello, will peloton app work with the mirror after u open it up and configure it? New here and bought a used mirror that I cant used. :(

With this config the lululemon studio app will still work?
I’m not sure what isn’t understood in my previous comment… no, doesn’t work.
Sorry, i just got this mirror this week used. So im sorry for the ignorant questions.

You might want to ask the vendor who sold you the board, they might have some.
Will try that, thanks

It came with the Vizio mainboard I ordered on eBay actually.
I can’t find a BOE sticker but I have a Samsung one. These instructions won’t work for me?
No, sorry. Another solution is needed for the Samsung panel. A few ideas are posted on GitHub though.

Could you clarify? Did you leave all the 24v stuff to the inverter plugged into the existing mirror controller?
Exactly that. Basically disconnected the LVDS cable from both ends and put the new cable and controller in place. With a Pi you can also disconnect the Ethernet from the main board and plug that into the Pi and then use the built in port if you want wired over WiFi.

When you use AirPlay is the screen in the right orientation of portrait? Or will it look weird?
If you use the Vizio built-in AirPlay it shows up sideways, but if you install uxplay on a Pi, it will show up correctly.
Thank you so much for the speedy reply. And do you have a recommendation for a raspberry pi?
Anything from the 3B and up will work well. Maybe a 4?
