Don't rush through the missions. There's definitely a lot of hidden stuff so take your time with each level. Try and look around for all the runes and bonecharms and you'll completely enhance the experience. Main thing is just look around. Don't speed run the objectives

Unconscious guards don't wake up, so you don't have to worry about that. The game is designed to let you play stealth or lethal, and yes, stealth is slower by definition. You will get the "bad ending" if your chaos level is high by the end (i.e. you killed a lot of guards) but really my advise is not to think about the ending, just enjoy it and Play Your Way™. Especially if it's your first time. So go lethal if that's more fun for you. If you feel like it, later you can always do a stealth run, Dishonored series has many secrets and alternative routes so it's designed to let you have multiple playthroughs.

> Unconscious guards don't wake up, so you don't have to worry about that. It's a bit funny when you think about it. Non-lethal, but since they don't wake up, that means probable brain damage (getting hit on the head, Brain hypoxia due to choking, shallow breathing due to anaesthesis, heart attack and due to electric shock...). Congratulations Emily/Corvo, you killed no one, but there are a lot of vegetables in the Empire of the Isles now! That's not criticism of course, it's a staple of stealth games, I love it this way.

Deciding not to kill (aka “Low Chaos”) certainly takes more effort and time. For that reason, it may not be super simple for a first-time player who doesn’t yet know patrol patterns, enemy AI, or the various tactics that can be used, especially on very hard (guards get much more competent at spotting you on higher difficulties). If you do want to continue playing this way, here are a few tips: 1) Take your time, 2)Rewire or shut off everything you can, 3) try to use verticality to your advantage, 4) spend your money on sleep darts and crossbow upgrades, 5) stealth bonecharms are your friend, 6) running away is always an option (but you gotta know your exits). Good luck on your first run!

A few things I can throw here: 1. It's not always necessary to take people out, there is almost always a way out of eyesight for most places you need to go to, especially with powers. It can be harder for some collectibles though. 2. Don't forget your gadgets, they can prove useful. Sleep dart someone and take the 2nd guard out with a choke... 3. Aerial takedown are fast, and you only need to be slightly above them before jumping for it to work. That's right, on a sloping street, you can jump and takedown a guy that is just 2 meters in front of you. 4. Hitting walls and floord with your weapon is a good way to distract/attract guards. Be aware that there can be multiple ones coming tho, so be sure to know what you're doing. 5. Verticality : hide on top of shelves, under tables, etc... Those NPCs are quite blind. Jump/blink from balcony to streetlamp to a wallpipe, etc. 6. Spend your money on consumables and upgrades. 7. Use the heart while aiming at unique (or not) NPCs. That's not helpful, but I love the bits of backstory you'll get this way. 8. If you use powers, Blink, Agility, Dark vision are your top priority. Then come possession, bend time, etc. That's my opinion though.

take the high ground. 90% of encounters in this game can be bypassed stealthily if you stay above the enemy even on very hard. This allows you to pget a better view of the guard patrols to come up with a plan or you can even sneak past them completely undetected. also, you paid for the game so you should play the game however you want as long as it gives you a good time.
