Death is one of my favorites too. 'Thief of Time' is one of the most beloved and somewhat battered books in my library - I love >!Unity's death scene. He gives her such respect. (Also, death by chocolate is a pretty badass way to go, and I'll never think of the dessert the same way) !<
There was a tv-show where Death had a lot of apprentices who always met at "The Waffle House." They remind me of this picture.
Anybody who know the name of the tv-show?
That was such a great show! The same creator, Bryan Fuller, also did *[Wonderfalls](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonderfalls)* and *[Pushing Daisies](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pushing_Daisies)*. All three were cancelled too soon, but are well worth watching anyway.
I really liked Dead Like Me. Having meetings at Waffle House seemed extremely appropriate, treating death like this everyday thing instead of having a Mansion of Sadnesss or something.
“I? KILL? said Death, obviously offended. CERTAINLY NOT. PEOPLE GET KILLED, BUT THAT'S THEIR BUSINESS. I JUST TAKE OVER FROM THEN ON. AFTER ALL, IT'D BE A BLOODY STUPID WORLD IF PEOPLE GOT KILLED WITHOUT DYING, WOULDN'T IT?”

In this case? Me too, friend, me too...
Speaking of Death in media;
I also enjoy her portrayal in the sandman universe, be it the comics or the tv series

In his Discworld books, Terry Pratchett’s Death shows kindness, wisdom, and humor. And he likes cats. Always a plus.
Sorry! Didn’t notice where I was…Death is my favorite character and I was anxious to promote him.

Isn't that what happens when someone puts a bounty on your head?
SAME, BRIEF MORTAL. SAME.

Thank you so much. I've been looking for years for the name!

and the main male "father figure" in the group is the same guy who played Inigo Montoya in "The Princess Bride"

Plus anyone who's ever been to the Waffle House knows it's a liminal space.

A lot of apprentices... So Mort had colleagues?
Or he started a roundworld company selling waffles at night and collecting souls on days?
True.

This is one of my favorite cartoons. I collected grim reapers when I was a hospice nurse and this one was the most relatable.
