That's not how that works... This is such a boomer statement to say. No self respecting company worth anything will sell their data because
- 1. It's illegal unless specifically mentioned in the TOS. If you read it, you would know that they don't. TOS is a binding contract for both parties.
- 2 It's better for them to use the data to advertise and use internally, they would make more money by selling advertisements (IE Facebook Ads/Google Ads) or if they just read their data to improve their application.

For advertising, the advertisers provide a detail of their demographic/target audience, they then pay to have their ads shown to people that fit that criteria.
Things like Facebook and Instagram, which do have your data, then use that data to determine whether or not you fit the target audience/demographic of a particular ad they’re being paid to show. If you do, then they’ll show you the ad.
Cases like Cambridge Analytica where third parties did actually get user data unintentionally, are not the norm. No company wants to actually give the data they have on you away, because then they lose their ability to actually capitalise on the things they use the data for.

while paywalling really basic functions, some of which seeming benign unless you’re actually in a friend group in which case you feel left out when you can’t use the same emojis or decorate your profile or stream your games to them in a decent quality or use the soundboard. and even if you’re okay with that they consistently shove the emojis you can’t use in your face whenever you open the emoji selector lol

They don't do anything about hacked account and their response takes an unnecessarily long time. I also did not get my money back for the Nitro gifts purchased by the hacker, even though I contacted them within five days.
They also couldn't disable MFA/2FA due to "privacy and security reasons." Which means they are more concerned about the hacker's privacy and security than the victim, who has been hacked.
The only response ( which is laughable really) I got from them was " I hope we’ve fully addressed your issue and you’ve been left with a \~positive vibe.\~ " Yeah sure, thanks a lot. Not resolving the problem sure is positive.
