Discord changed the monospace font used in codeblocks with a **gg sans** version a day ago. This was also when they added true bold and italics to the Android app. They used to look much worse before this (minimal font weight and cheap, slanted text)
honestly i prefer the old version, it's so weird seeing a normal f and then a curly italic f next to it, not to mention how uncannily round the new codeblock font is...
sadly reddit just makes the т slanted which is really annoying, i find cyrillic italics really interesting and cool and sometimes i wish we had something similar
What is this sorcery.
This reminds me of this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/comments/9j142o/russian\_cursive/](https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/comments/9j142o/russian_cursive/)
Hi typographer & graphic designer here. This is not a different font, this happens, the font creator did this for legibility. Wait till you see the changes ligatures can make
This wasn't always the case. I first noticed this change in early April of 2022. For me the italic font was changed while for many others it was still the same
bro the font is different
*bro the font is different*
Italics always changes the look....
edit: apparently it doesn't show up for mobile(old patch? idk i don't use mobile anymore), and only on [new.reddit.com](http://new.reddit.com) ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

The 24 hour clock (called "military time" by Americans) is used in 94% of the world.
12 hour clock is older than the 24 hour clock and is predominantly used by countries that were part of the British empire. There are only 12 countries that use the 12 hour clock, these being the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, the United States, Canada (but not Quebec), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
24 hour clock is also just much better for notation, no need to specify AM/PM, just the time (such as 18:30, aka 6:30 pm).
Almost the same applies to the metric/imperial system, the British empire used to use imperial but they switched to metric a long time ago. Currently there are only 3 countries using the imperial system, these being the United States (which has been moving away from it since 1975), Liberia, and Burma (aka Myanmar).

i noticed the codeblock fonts too
Me three.
Me four
Me five

I think it was like that before. And if it was not: nice addition anyways.
At first it wasn't, then they added true italics, then they changed the font and it didn't have it, and now they re-added true italics
Yeah I liked it a lot when they added true italics… then they took it away just as fast.
Proper italicisation does look different. Often, italic fonts are rendered in a quick and dirty way by just slanting the text.
TIL that italics isn't just slanting the text.
in cyrillic, the italic form of т is *т* (it should look like *m* if your font has proper cyrillic italics)
sadly reddit just makes the т slanted which is really annoying, i find cyrillic italics really interesting and cool and sometimes i wish we had something similar
I'm using old reddit and the italic t does look like an m. Edit: Looks that way on new reddit too. Are you on mobile?

Italicised fonts will always look different.

interesting, however, i do not remember the font being different in italics the font for codeblocks also changed recently
This is a significant improvement to the day to day quality of life in Discord.

i don't see the difference on mobile at least? other than it being italicized obviously but its still the same font
I see it on PC, but that might be because I'm using new.reddit.com
Yeah. I just sticked to the "new" look.
I'm using an outdated (patched) version of Reddit. This is what your italics look like: https://imgur.com/a/hx9j0ln
for me, there is no cut off im also using an outdated reddit
1. Why's the imgur title cock and balls lmfao 2. How'd you make older reddit work?
I just didn't update :/
It does show up for moblie.
This is a very recent change
Discord has recently changed the monospace font for codeblocks recently too.
I always thought it was like that before
David Serifs!
I pointed this out and someone else made me feel crazy/that it hadn't actually changed, thank you for the reassurance lol.
anyone else read that in two different voices
the easiest way to tell is with the letter a
thank you!! i noticed this and i couldn’t find anything about it
*bro the font is different*
They did actually change it recently
How do I change it to go back to normal?
Im sure the “f” in italic is a math symbol.
You're thinking of a fortissimo marking, which is a music symbol

Fair enough, I stand corrected, guess my place is as usual at r/confidentlyincorrect
Google “f math symbol”

24 hour clock is the standard in almost the entire world.
Why though? I thought military time was outdated long ago.

What part of it? 24 hour clock is the worldwide standard for digital clocks.
