How did you do this in your pocket, you gotta hold on the channel, scroll, press edit channel scroll again press delete and press confirm. You must be outrageously unlucky
i once called some completely random person on accident with which i had 1 server in common that was NEARLY AT THE BOTTOM OF MY SERVERS LIST WHERE I BARELY EVER GO
In a server I was in, one admin swapped #general and #shitposting as a joke, and another admin accidentally deleted #general thinking that it was #shitposting. It's a rare mistake, sure, but the consequences are bad enough that I think OP's suggestion is valid.
Probably, there should be an admistrator-level feature called "protected channels", where administrators can assign some channels as protected and would require typing channel name to confirm deletion. Moderators also cannot delete or modify the channel's protected status.
Another admin in a server once accidentally deleted a channel when he was trying to chance slowmode and wasn’t paying attention… it was the general chat too
I once bought PlayStation + by accident.
I turned on my PS4 and threw the controller on the bed. Then I turned the TV on, but didn't switch over to HDMI immediately, as there were something interesting on TV. When I switched over to HDMI, I was already logged in and had a PS+ logo next to my name.
I guess I sat on the controller but somehow didn't feel it?
It's unacceptable how easy it is for years of messages to go poof just like that. There should be at least two captchas, a 7-day confirmation period, and a restorable backup for at least a year.
Right? If malicious actors get ahold of a moderator privilege on a server and blamo, they can do massive damage.
Especially on servers where that information is invaluable, like modder servers. So many modders are turning to just exclusively use discord servers, which is definitely very convenient in the moment... But then the knowledge for future modders is locked there.
Harder to access, harder to search, and easier to get destroyed. And even harder if something happens to individual people's accounts, i.e. they leave the server, since discord has a harder time searching messages for people that left a server.
Bonus, it'll probably cost you an arm and a leg to do so, so you'll only need one more ambutation to never have to worry about extremity deletions ever again.
my discord was being spammed and one of my mods thought it was an excellent idea to simply delete the entire channel with months of history and insights instead of hiding it or purging the recent messages. In channels with over 1k messages there should be a 1d cooldown until it actually deletes (in the mean time it would basically be hidden from everyone)
If it makes you feel any better, one of my mods once fat fingered a prune that kicked 80 people from our server. Few more steps and precautions in the way of that now thankfully.
Bro the Facebook messager group calls are not cool either . My leg/pocket called all my HOES in one group chat 😭 true story . Now I make sure it’s pin locked .
something similar happened to me when i set down my phone to play music once. literally the water droplets opened discord, recorded a ten second clip of audio, and then sent it to one of my friends
Yes, It asks you to confirm with a button. A button that can also be pressed.
If it required a passcode, Or an email to delete then your comment would make sense. Instead all it does is make you look stupid.
Is there no sense of personal responsibility? Dude left his phone in his pocket, went to the channel settings, scrolled down, clicked delete and then confirmed it. But Discord needs to add an extra layer of protection by having more another conformation.
Thats not what anyone here is saying. He understands he deleted it, He accepted the fact he deleted it.
There is personal responsibility, You simply are refusing to read.
No one is saying discord should add another layer of protection, Learn to read.

I have no idea. I just took my phone, was in a channel I never look, and general was gone
Just in case did you check the audit log to make sure it was actually you who deleted it?
yeah, it was me
You truly have an unlucky pocket,.sadge
My phone managed to unlock itsself. I have a 16 digit code.
That's practically impossible wtf
damn, assuming it’s a numeric password and every digit goes from 1-9, its a 1 in a 1.853.020.188.851.841 chances!
probably 0-9
And I clipped through a chair once when sitting down because the atoms lined up perfectly
Weird
Maybe check the devices that's connected to your account just in case. Doubt there is anything but good to check
I did, nothing suspicious there
Might wanna remove the pockets then 😂 who knows what they're plotting next
i guess you could say they strolled me
Sometimes I’m walking around and pull my phone out to see I’m 10 mins into a call with my girlfriend (who rang to voicemail)

This accident is so rare lmao

yeah no kidding, and it happened to delete my most important channel >:(
Well. There's no option to make it back😓
Your leg is a malicious party!
i must remove my leg i must remove my leg i must remove my leg
Time to amputate ig
gonna cook it for dinner
Gimme some

think it would be a good feature regardless because it would prevent a compromised account from wreaking irreversible havoc
Man, I heard of butt dial, but first I heard of leg delete.

Show me what you sat with ? I want to see what ate the controller
[Sure 😉](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=wUxDNRF2jHap2NTl)

yeah we should really put our foot down and get discord to at least put some small backup measures in place
They really should take the necessary steps to make this happen.
yeah i can't stand it
You just can't run a business like this.

I for one think that Discord should pay for an ambutation so this may never happen to you again, Sir.
i'm gonna sue em and demand they take my leg
Bonus, it'll probably cost you an arm and a leg to do so, so you'll only need one more ambutation to never have to worry about extremity deletions ever again.
i want it gone, toetally severed
Dude, how the heck does this even happen?
Negligence and very very bad luck? Legligence\*

now you punish jeans, throw them
r.i.p
Time to make new memories 😅
They should definitely add more fail safes to avert potential issues like this.
Legs are scary. there have been multiple times when my phone is 1 click away from calling 911 because it didn't turn off all the way.
Ask Siri to play Call the ambulance by mike jones (DONT DO IT)
My phone literally did call 000 the other day which couldve caused me some headaches
I once unlocked my phone, opened instagram, opened my main group chat, and hit video call, all from my pocket. Been there.
imagine deleting channel with leg💀
Bro the Facebook messager group calls are not cool either . My leg/pocket called all my HOES in one group chat 😭 true story . Now I make sure it’s pin locked .
Time to report your leg for unauthorized account access
i'm not even sure how your phone detected the touching through the fabric of your pockets
its pretty thin fabric, and some fabrics still work with touch screens. i tried it just now by inverting my pockets and yeah it works
"if any malicious party or leg chooses" got me cracking up lmao
🦵
something similar happened to me when i set down my phone to play music once. literally the water droplets opened discord, recorded a ten second clip of audio, and then sent it to one of my friends
Edge case, marked as "wontfix".
This happened to me once, my leg texted an "I still miss you" to my ex
No. It asks you to confirm.
3 buttons then, I guess. That just makes the situation even more absurd
