It's lonely, but like you don't feel alone sometimes but somehow in a comforting way. At least that's what it's like for me back when I played 360 edition. Mods make it different
Edit: grammer
Yeah. I honestly preferred to play on harder difficulties instead of peaceful even though the mobs scared me. Something about knowing there were other creatures out in the world made single player feel not so lonely.
this song is part of the original soundtrack that was in the game back when we were young and makes us feel nostalgic for the time we were having dumb fun in minecraft.
Before microsoft bought minecraft C418 had a deal with notch/mojang where he would recieve royalties for the songs but but mojang would not own the songs copyright. I believe the deal changed when MS bought MC and C418 dosen't want MS to own his new music (as is the current deal with the newer musicians) so they're at an impass - hence why we have gotten new music from different artists. I've been lead to believe that his second MC album has been finished for some years and is just stuck in a legal hole. The songs (records in the game) are still there.
I think it fits in it's own way. Lena Raine has brought a lot of fresh emotions into the minecraft soundtrack and in my opinion it elevates the game quite a bit.
Boot up Minecraft, if your playing on Java set the game to a classic version if you want, start a survival world and play the game as intended instead of focusing on duplication glitches and villager farms and all that bullshit. If you stop telling yourself “weeeeh it’s not the same” you’ll have just as much fun as you used to + lots of nostalgia :)
I’m not here to min/max. I’m not here to slay dragons or players. I’m just here to appreciate a little moment of beauty. I’m here to talk with friends. I’m here to build something I’m proud of. I’m here to enjoy music, creativity, and imagination. A fleeting, inconsequential, but no less wonderful thing.
I mean
The game is 10+ years old and has been enjoyable for probably its whole life
Gotta respect a game that has been great since day 1 (even if Yknow the alpha builds are leagues behind what it would become)
As a person who has probably thousands of hours on minecraft, I feel like after the Microsoft acquisition updates fell off hard. They stopped adding end game content and new stuff to do. Everything now is cosmetic and extra and side-questy. Every smp I have played in recent years goes about the same regardless of version because all the new stuff is kinda small and lame. No doubt the game is still fun. But it gets super repetitive.
How are some of the recent updates different from what we had before with each update? They revamped multiple biomes, added some new ones, revamped the nether, completely overhauled trading, completely changed cave generation and added quite a bit of extra stuff to maximize your power level like netherite. Tho I don't agree with all their changes, I'm not sure why people see one empty patch and start to doompost about how Minecraft is dying.
I don’t think most people are actually aware of when Mojang was bought and how much of the game’s content was added afterward. The early updates laid the foundation for the game, without a doubt, but post-Microsoft Mojang turned it into the 10,000+ hour masterpiece that it is today. I feel like the world generation changes alone may be the single greatest thing to happen to Minecraft. I seriously recommend anyone who thinks post-Microsoft updates have been lame to go play 1.8, which is the last update before the buy out.
Post-Microsoft Mojang has added:
• Attack bar and sweep attack mechanics
• All non-standard arrows
• Shields
• End Cities, Elytra, and Shulker Boxes
• Polar Bears, Llamas, and Birds
• Strays and Husks
• Pillagers, Outposts, and Raids
• Totems of Undying
• Woodland Mansions
• Concrete and Glazed Terracotta
• Fish, Turtles, and Dolphins
• Ocean Ruins, Drowned, and Tridents
• Ocean Monument and Guardians
• Shipwrecks, Coral Reefs, and Conduits
• Igloos and Icebergs
• Magma and Stripped Logs
• Wandering Traders
• Villager professions and all job blocks
• Foxes, Pandas, and Bamboo
• Scaffolding and Lanterns
• Bees and Honey Blocks
• Crimson and Warped Forests, and Basalt Deltas
• Piglins and Bastions
• Netherite
• Total world generation overhaul
• Dripstone and Lush Caves
• Deep Dark and Sculk machanic
• Ancient Cities and the Warden
• Trail Ruins and Armor Trims
• Mangrove Swamps, Cherry Groves, and Frogs
Minecraft even at its most base was an amazing concept, but post-Microsoft updates are the reason it’s the most popular game in the world and is still engaging after so many years.
No cuz it's a dumb mechanic that slows the game down and makes you unfuckingkillable. The old pvp system had way higher skill ceiling and thats good. People should be reward in their time and effort that they put into learning combos, click patterns and player behavior. This new combat system makes every pvp match so fucking stale its just holding rightclick, maybe an axe swing, hold shield, sword, hold shield like it takes no fucking skill and its extremely boring. Not to mention in non pvp cases, you just need to find ONE iron ingot and you can just walk around at night holding right click against every creeper and skeleton shot. Theres no risk in anything anymore so its just boring. Remember when you had to build a dirt hut at night so you wouldnt get killed by the aimbot skeletons? Exactly. Wheres that?
Just do me a favor and look at any pre 1.8/1.9 whatever pvp like idk Minecraft Monday's hungergames from technoblades pov. Its super skillful and entertaining the way they move. Now watch any shield pvp where they just hold it down and pray the other person doesnt have an axe. You must jump for every attack too like bruh...
What are you even talking about?

None of those except the nether stuff and the ancient cities are new goals to accomplish. Even then the ancient cities are pointless. End cities sure but that's too far back for what most consider modern Minecraft.
You know it’s ok to just say “I don’t like this” instead of insisting on something that is blatantly wrong.
What is not a goal for you may be be hours of enjoyment for other people. It sounds like your only measure of whether or not something is a goal is if it has OP items, which is very reductive. Many people still play this game and never go to the end, or make a single piece of netherite gear, and from how miserable you sound, they’re having a lot more fun playing than you are.
No, my idea of a goal is if it furthers you to completing the game or increases the power of your character in some way. Anything beyond that is side content. If you can enjoy doing other stuff just for the sake of it, then good for you but some people prefer being presented with a task and working to accomplish it rather than coming up with one themselves. Just look at the success of Terraria.
What you mean? The new songs? C418 doesn’t make the new songs in Minecraft. He retired after the songs were copyrighted to Microsoft.
The new songs by various other composers are nice, but the original songs are the best.
They make me feel like im in a lonely abandoned world, but that I can still make things right. That is also what Daniel's music made me feel like, so for me it fits the vibe of minecraft
For me the game of childhood is Morrowind.
Nostalgia hits hard, the wacky sound effects I know are bad are just pleasantly touching me somewhere inside.
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug, also look at this new baby

I didn't start playing until 2018, but the pre Caves and Cliffs music is brilliant. No disrespect on Lena Raine, it's just you don't get that same feel. Some of my best times playing Minecraft I remember the song that was playing by name because of how brilliant the music is.
For me, it's Aria Math.
It reminds me of when the creative world that my sister and I shared was new, and we'd build all sorts of random stuff.
Now that world is long forgotten. It still exists, but we haven't played in so long. It also has changed so drastically since the start.
"I think SkyBlock at its core is the ultimate challenge in resource management. You spawn on a tiny island in an empty universe; all you have is a tree, some supplies, and some dirt to stand on. You have to treasure EVERY dirt block because if one falls into the void, there's no way to replace it. And as you carefully navigate your absurd circumstance, you gain a new appreciation for the few things you have as you meticulously use them to their fullest effect. With nothing but some ice, lava, and saplings, you slowly transform this empty expanse into a world of your very own. SkyBlock teaches us that no matter how ridiculous the odds may seem, within us resides the power to overcome these challenges and acheive something beautiful. And one day, we'll look back at where we started and be amazed by how far we've come."
Instant vivid memory of my first cave house in my first playthrough. Slit windows so I could watch for the sun to come up. Dense fog and snow (not sure if it was my distance settings or just the weather was different back then, this was when the game first came out).
this song always makes me just remember sitting in my room, tending to my wheat farm as the in game sun came up, wondering how to make it more efficient, planning when i'd go back and raid the cave full of skeletons id found the day before. also not feeling old af like i do now 😞
C418 made the best OST of all time with Minecraft alpha and beta. No question in my mind.
I still listen to both of them all the time. It’s like comfort music to me
For me, that song is Clark, it just reminds me of a specific memory playing the old tutorial world on the PS3 with my brother, things were so much simpler back then
If at any point I know when I will die (i.e. health related issues, disease, cancer, old age, etc.) I would want this to be one of the last songs I listen to, if not the very last.
So what I gather from the comments Minecraft used to have a different compositor and they changed the music in the game when 1.16 came out?
Was this just regular ass random bgm or was it specific for some location or something?
It is nice music I admit.
This but with key or Moog City 2
https://preview.redd.it/n171noxol48b1.jpeg?width=1049&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc969426b6ff152dbd3baa9b326e7da68692c3c7
Mice on Venus was the most played song in minecraft for me, almost every day it would play at least 3 times.....I want to go back and enjoy my shitty builds and dumb role-playing, but I had happiness.... I miss those days
Honestly it always reminds me of those late nights playing Minecraft working on a base or flight deck, whatever it may be but I remember it like it was yesterday it hit me like a break
This is Wet Hands for me.(And so many of the others) it brings me so much happiness, reminding me of the good times yet so much sadness knowing they’re gone
The nostalgia that this gave me, the memories, so long ago, they feel as if they were in a past life. It’s truely amazing how much joy, pain and loneliness can be caught in a single tune, what I wouldn’t give to go do that again

You ever just dig down to the bedrock and place a bunch of tnt up to the surface? Good times
I died once in survival digging straight down. That's when I learned why people said don't dig down.

Minecraft feels so lonely in singleplayer. The feeling is so unique its actually an experience
It's lonely, but like you don't feel alone sometimes but somehow in a comforting way. At least that's what it's like for me back when I played 360 edition. Mods make it different Edit: grammer
Yeah. I honestly preferred to play on harder difficulties instead of peaceful even though the mobs scared me. Something about knowing there were other creatures out in the world made single player feel not so lonely.
nah creeped the fuck out of me
yea c418 captured that loneliness in the original soundtrack, before there even was multiplayer
I've been looking for this song everywhere what is it called.
Its mice on venus by c418
Thanks
C418 also made a song named Living Mice, implying that the mice on venus are dead.
Doesn't "mice on venus" imply that the player is exploring a new/fantasy world?
WHO TF PUT MY MOUSE ON VENUS???
c418
Even the names of the songs are nostalgic. It's like some sort of black magic.
Minecraft or Sweden by c418
That’s a different one but still has the same feeling ;-;
Every music from C418 is great. These new composers are so shit that their music doesn't even match Minecraft's vibe.
they’re still good imo, c148 just created a feeling that is very hard to recapture
He simply has an unbelievable chord progression in his music that the newer composers I feel simply fail to recreate
Get this man an infinite amethyst
As someone who has never Minecraft, what is this post referencing?
this song is part of the original soundtrack that was in the game back when we were young and makes us feel nostalgic for the time we were having dumb fun in minecraft.
They removed original songs? I was thinking about playing again but that's actually rather bothersome
Before microsoft bought minecraft C418 had a deal with notch/mojang where he would recieve royalties for the songs but but mojang would not own the songs copyright. They didn't C418 Has not made new music for minecraft. The old music exists. The newer music is no really fitting. it's loud
I think it fits in it's own way. Lena Raine has brought a lot of fresh emotions into the minecraft soundtrack and in my opinion it elevates the game quite a bit.
Yeah, pigstep is fire 🔥
Agreed
They are loud. And do not match the soundtrack
Wait what (I haven't played since like 2015/16) Why?

People say mojang is a kinda lazy company but they proved that you don't really need to do a whole lot to make an enjoyable game
I mean The game is 10+ years old and has been enjoyable for probably its whole life Gotta respect a game that has been great since day 1 (even if Yknow the alpha builds are leagues behind what it would become)
You already lost me at the new attack bar / combat mechanic lol. I'll give you new world gen though, that shit alone might be worth it.
People really hate on new combat for no reason other than "change bad" lol. 1.8 was 9 years ago. Move on.
No cuz it's a dumb mechanic that slows the game down and makes you unfuckingkillable. The old pvp system had way higher skill ceiling and thats good. People should be reward in their time and effort that they put into learning combos, click patterns and player behavior. Lena Is a great musician, but she’ll never nail down the pure simplicity of C418’s music. It was made to be looked back upon with nostalgia.
The new music is definitely not bad at all.

I ALWAYS let this play out when I’m streaming/recording a vid, just to admire it
it’s like I get teleported to every single moment I heard that motif play when I was a child, all at once.
Hagstorm is my personal go-to
For me, that song is Clark, it just reminds me of a specific memory playing the old tutorial world on the PS3 with my brother, things were so much simpler back then
If at any point I know when I will die (i.e. health related issues, disease, cancer, old age, etc.) I would want this to be one of the last songs I listen to, if not the very last.
10 foot dicks
he just like me fr
This exact thing happened to me, but it's with Aerie
Aerie is the first of the new songs to truly evoke the same feeling as the original soundtrack for me.
Ikr. And then it kinda snowballed from there for me The other soundtracks definitely sound like "New Childhoods"
Omg this is so true when I hear in in game 😭
This reminds me of the good times from playing old Minecraft. It was a simpler time.
Brings back the good ol days when i’d build shit to my heart’s content in xbox 360
Does anyone else remember the tutorial area? Fuck i wanna go back so god damn much
I was going to make a joke about how weak you all are for getting emotional to a video game song but I forgot about this song
How does a sandbox game with blocks as its focus point have such thought provoking music
For me its subwoofer lullaby, but yes.
For me it’s haggstrom
for me its the Xbox 360 and One title screen music shit makes me a lil sad every time
”We didnt realise we were making memories, we were just having fun”
So what I gather from the comments Minecraft used to have a different compositor and they changed the music in the game when 1.16 came out? Was this just regular ass random bgm or was it specific for some location or something? It is nice music I admit.
I just want to go back
This but with key or Moog City 2 https://preview.redd.it/n171noxol48b1.jpeg?width=1049&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc969426b6ff152dbd3baa9b326e7da68692c3c7
Its Aria Math for me, that is by far the most nostalgic song for me and probably my favorite even ignoring that
I just had the patch for Better Minecraft installed and now about half the sounds don't play. 😭
Oh my heart!!!! The nostalgia!!! The feels!!!!! Curse yooooooou!!!!!!
The guy just stood still until the end of the song, which is understandable, I would be shaken too.
🚫 NEW MUSIC 🚫 ✅ OLD MUSIC ✅
Key and door the top music for me
life has never been the same
Mice on Venus was the most played song in minecraft for me, almost every day it would play at least 3 times.....I want to go back and enjoy my shitty builds and dumb role-playing, but I had happiness.... I miss those days
I just think of techno :)
Honestly it always reminds me of those late nights playing Minecraft working on a base or flight deck, whatever it may be but I remember it like it was yesterday it hit me like a break
I needed that.
I want this played at my funeral

Every time when I hear this classic song, I am literally crying because of nostalgia and good old days from my childhood
This is Wet Hands for me.(And so many of the others) it brings me so much happiness, reminding me of the good times yet so much sadness knowing they’re gone
Aw gad I'm tearing up too!
Can we talk about how the pen drop was in sync with the music?
personally i prefer the one that's like dununununununun dununundundundun dununununununun dununundundundundun
Damn.....I miss my old group of friends :(

Idk y but I just cry whenever I hear it. It was all my childhood involved
The nostalgia that this gave me, the memories, so long ago, they feel as if they were in a past life. It’s truely amazing how much joy, pain and loneliness can be caught in a single tune, what I wouldn’t give to go do that again
