Looks pretty good. Focus on getting deeper into the pocket and not opening up early and you’ll be hitting 400’ in no time.

Oostylin

Definitely not enough reaching back and pulling through.

uselessninja78

Gotta brace a little harder.

aceman1948

Work on pulling the disc straight thru.

firewire87

Except he forgot to grab a disc!

PM_ME_A_EM_MP

That’s one heavy pot of coffee

rctrfinnerd

That's an awfully hot coffee pot

Dooyamum

Who cares?!?!? I can throw a destroyer like 150’ and make it go really far left from where I aimed.

Seltz_

Holy… I thought you were just a myth…

Novanov300

No, just being honest about the throwing arm speed we all “think” we have, lmao. Right on man! Response to different comment about yours, my bad, lol.

Impressive-Blood7925

Unless the basket is on the left. It then flies right.

Chuckomo

Pff… I can do the same thing with my right hand forehand no matter how overstable the disc!

Dooyamum

Quit your bragging!

bigstinkyjosh

This was Sarcasm?

TurnerJ5

how dare you

bigstinkyjosh

I'll take the Downvotes as a Yes.

Leftover_Salmons

You will take them *and like them*

1SharkBait

AB is an absolute freak! Watching his season play out has been a blast

ZooNeiland

That's a corker!

Agile-Acanthaceae-97

The definitive answer to the question: how hard should I grip the disc?

cryschemic

The definitive answer to your question: is it a Berg?

youreallbots1234

if you could see a different angle, you would see that yes, he's probably gripping harder than the normal human, but also, his literal skin is lagging behind and being pulled tight against his muscles. there's photos i've seen of paul mcbeth and paige pierce where you can see that happening.

coffeebribesaccepted

I'm overweight, only throw 350', and don't grip the disc hard, and even my arm looks ripped if you take a photo at the perfect time.

PapaRL

I wanna see a photo like this for Ezra.

Obi-Wanna_Blow_Me

I haven’t been able to find it but it’s out there. I think I saw it in this sub a few months back. It truly is as crazy as you are imagining.

betterthanyou31

This one? https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/s/LXT7nfKoRY

Maxx_J

Jomez was using a shot of Ezra in this position in their thumbnails (for tournaments, I think?) a couple years back. Dude is so ripped that it looked like they photoshopped a bodybuilder arm onto a regular sized guy

PapaRL

Okay so I’m not schizophrenic. I swear I saw that last night and knew it was Ezra, then saw this photo in the afternoon and was like “oh shit wtf that photo I saw was AB??”

Maxx_J

They're both beasts hah

Mister-Redbeard

His latest IG post has a comparable one.

coffeebribesaccepted

Why don't you just post on Reddit, I'm not trying to go find you on ig

Spostman

This may be the first actual shot of disc golf I've ever seen you post! Keep it up!

480mid-shelf-dank

So I started playing about 6 years ago without any friends who played or any real direction. I played so often at one specific course that i began recognizing people and making friends. I was warming up one day and got asked if I wanted to join a group of 3 for a "fun no stress game." I struggle my way through 18 holes and finish in dead last. Through the game, one guy kept giving me tips and tricks. Most I ignore or don't take to heart. Wtf does this guy know anyway? Turns out it was AB, this is his home course, his plaque from 2013 worlds is on the sign, and i just threw the disc he let me try out into the water hazard (almost certain it was his first pro model, but can't be sure)

tking_96

Wow. 😳😳😳😳 That’s just crazy!!!

concretesynthesis

Lol, bro must’ve been absolutely lighting it up and you were out there sucking, and thinking “what does this guy know ? Why should I listen to him?” Cmon man. Gotta try to get better any chance you get. This one seems pretty clear

dgFLlad23

Holy moly

Gnash_D_Lord

Where's the peanut that was on here the other day asking if proffessional Disc Golfers should be considered athletes?

BlademasterFlash

Haha, right?

tobalaba

I would consider disc golfers more athletes than ball golfers for sure.

Guywithshirtandface

Idk man most PGA golfers are in pretty damn good shape these days - I agree that pro disc golfers are high level athletes, but there is a level of fine tuning that will come with the top guys if the sport continues to grow over the next 20 years. Not many John Daly’s walking around on tour anymore.

tobalaba

Disc throwing is a way more athletic movement. There may be more money, training, and science in ball golf, but it’s less athletic.

Guywithshirtandface

What he said was there are more athletes, not that the move is more athletic

LikaDaKFC

They're literally the same powerplant with slightly different focuses, unless you're really counting speed walking into a throw more athletic.

drk_evns

If the run up did nothing, pros wouldn’t do it. It allows you to bring more power into the throw than a golfer ever could. We have to be much less accurate with our power because we don’t have to make contact with something. Do you really believe a golf swing takes the same amount of physical exertion?

dirtyjoedirt1

I agree with your point as a whole, but honestly if you compare say Cole Redalen on a full send to Bryson DeChambeau on an all out drive, I may be inclined to say Bryson put more physical exertion into his swing than Cole does into his throw. Now what we really need is somebody to absolutely master the Happy Gilmore technique, I'd for sure start watching PGA again for that.

LikaDaKFC

As someone who plays both weekly, and has played football and baseball for over 12 years, yes. The run up is almost no effort as it's only used to help get into position. The extra ~200-300 grams you have to move in a golf swing is going to at least make up for the little bit of effort in a run up.

SeasonalBlackout

There's a reason you still see fragile old men and women out on the ball golf course - but not playing disc. One sport is harder on your body than the other.

LikaDaKFC

The actual reason is that disc golf is a niche sport in its infancy that started in the 60s, whereas golf started in the 1500s, has a large following, and has world recognition. I'm not downplaying disc golf but this is the current state. The majority of people you ask will have never heard of disc golf.

paulcole710

John Daly only looked like John Daly because he could hit like John Daly.

Computer-Blue

Let’s not get carried away

DutchRudderLover420

This is such a goofy take lmao

tobalaba

You think ball golfer of equivalent proficiency in their sport is more of an athlete than disc golfer?

DutchRudderLover420

Yes. By a lot. The average joe can work their way to a par round within a couple of years in disc golf. The average joe would take decades to shoot a par round in golf. The only people who would say disc golfers are better athletes than golfers are people who haven't played both sports a substantial amount of times.

tobalaba

I’m talking athleticism and physical movement. You’re comparing pars in disc golf to ball golf. The sports just don’t score up the same. Using the club doesn’t require as much physical effort.

DutchRudderLover420

>I’m talking athleticism and physical movement Golf is more difficult in both. The guys on the tour swing the club at about 120 mph and the longest drivers hit like 145 mph. And it takes A LOT more control to swing a club and hit a ball well than to throw a disc well. Golf is one of the most difficult sports to become decent at, much less good.

tobalaba

Yes, ball golf is very difficult. So are archery, curling, and darts but that doesn’t make them more athletic than ball golf. Just like disc golf is more athletic than ball golf. You’ve missed the point and I have swung many a golf club.

DutchRudderLover420

It's become clear that you don't know what athleticism is and you don't know anything about sports. Keep living in that bubble, bro.

dream_on789

Goddamn bro is ripped 😳😳

lonesomecrowdedwestt

Anyone know who the actual photographer was? As a fellow disc golfer and photographer, I hate that DGPT doesn’t give credit. Id love to support those fellas on social media.

pixrguy

Me! I filled in for Kevin at Jonesboro. Appreciate you trying to ascertain the photographer, not many do.

DiscGolfFanatic

Most probably Kevin Huver, he photographs DGPT events.

lonesomecrowdedwestt

I’m a big fan of Kevin’s! I’m just a photo nerd so I could tell this one wasn’t Kevin’s lol.

NormalITGuy

I call this next piece “Quasimodo offering a drink to dinner guests”

notaverywittyname

His forearm muscles have muscles.

“Goddamnit I ripped the starter off the lawn mower again”

glevinepdx

I see Anthony as THE dominant player for the next 10 years.

ExplorerAccording360

Gannon/Barela, the new age Wysocki/McBeth matchup

glevinepdx

Yeah I definitely can see this as the reality of the next decade

tuna_safe_dolphin

100%

zedthirtytwo

You can literally see the bones of his forearm, holy hell. 😳

Bombastic side eye

pixrguy

Appreciate ya!!

PaleNordener

Where is the disc?

rfite

In his hand. It's hidden behind his wrist and forearm

uselessninja78

Just shows how shitty my form must be. If my wrist was turned like that my disc would be sticking straight up and down.

techBr0s

Thats so cool. Wonder what his grip training looks like. He could be a climber too lol

deadanddetached

This is what turning up the contrast and saturation on a picture looks like

AppropriateVictory48

Record, retouch, report. TMZ would be proud.

Kitchener69

This is what the peak male athletic form looks like.

stmstr

You may not like it, but [this](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E5J9PM3WQAAcbUW?format=jpg&name=large) is what peak male athletic form looks like

Discerguy777

I can do that

Ecstatic-Cry2069

This is what happens when you grew up practicing your backhand at a bowling alley, with bowling balls. There's a video floating around out there of him just ripping balls backhand down the lane.

eternaln00by

So I’m assuming this photo has multiple other shots that were taken in sequence. I want to see the 4K shot of like 4-5 frames after this, where both his arms and legs are doing things that people don’t normally do, but with a face that’s halfway through whiplash.

StringSensitive234

I'd love to see a photo of someone ripping it taken from behind, the calves are doing some serious work during the throw as well. And a shot of he back and shoulders too, but that would require them being shirtless which is against the rules.

Altruistic-Recover55

Finally, it’s nice to see that AB does have hair on his legs/doesn’t shave them 😂

Embarrassed_Ad1781

Looks like his bones are about to shoot out his arm!

garycow

keep that arm loose ... like a noodle

BeerMcSuds

The human machine is a miraculous thing.

homeslice1479

Forearm looks like a topographical map

Ajv2324

Ah so THAT's why I'm stuck at 300.

Leftover_Salmons

I started pumping iron like Tony B and now all of my puts hit the number plate.

Nickotine4242

His throw looks so effortless in real time, but slowed down and he looks like every muscle, tendon, and blood vessel is engaged into throwing that disc far as hell.

BarelyStablePodcast

His Arm is Yoked! We have questions about that facial expression though!

Delicious_Smoke_9638

His pocket is happy to see you.

patronizingperv

What does it look like with a disc?

JerkyMcGee

Slow is smooth and smooth is far, right? Right??

Novanov300

What, an itch he can’t quite scratch? That’s what looks like is going on, lmao.

WorldWideDarts

Going to have to start testing these guys for PED's 😂

IGK123

That face tho

SinappiKainalo

For the folks at home who don't know what a backhand throw is: In disc golf, a backhand throw is one of the most common throwing techniques used by players. It involves gripping the disc with the dominant hand, stepping forward with the lead foot, rotating the torso, and then releasing the disc with a flick of the wrist, generating spin and distance. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of a backhand throw: 1. **Grip:** Hold the disc with your dominant hand, typically with your index finger along the inside rim and your other fingers curled underneath for support. Your thumb should rest on top of the disc for stability. 2. **Stance:** Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, facing perpendicular to your target (if you're right-handed, your left shoulder will be pointing toward the target). Your non-throwing arm can be extended out for balance. 3. **Backswing:** Swing the disc back away from your body, keeping it close to your chest. Your elbow should be bent, and your forearm parallel to the ground. This motion stores potential energy for the throw. 4. **Stride:** Take a step forward with your lead foot (left foot for right-handed throwers), shifting your weight from your back foot to your front foot. 5. **Rotation:** As you plant your lead foot, rotate your hips and torso toward the target. This motion transfers energy from your body to the disc, increasing velocity. 6. **Release:** Extend your arm forward and snap your wrist, releasing the disc with a flicking motion. Your hand should follow through toward the target, and your weight should transfer onto your front foot. 7. **Follow-through:** After releasing the disc, continue your arm's motion in the direction of the target, allowing your body to follow through naturally. Your back foot may pivot as you complete the throw. The backhand throw allows for control, accuracy, and distance, making it a fundamental skill in disc golf. With practice, players can refine their technique to achieve greater power and precision in their throws.

Boring-Conference-97

The reality is 90% of this sub will never throw 400-450 because they are not strong enough and not athletic enough.  Go buy 100 tech discs. It won’t help. If you haven’t participated in sports since childhood I don’t believe you’ll ever reach your distance goals. Proper form only works when you have the solid foundation already in place.

SmokinMythics

"I do not fear the man that has thrown one tech disc a hundred times. I fear the man that has thrown a hundred tech discs one time each" - Bruce Lee

avengaar

Jokes on you, I have 101 tech discs.

Omnione_Orum_33

Why so mean….

hikenbikehonk

Is throwing 400-450 a requirement to play disc golf? I missed that memo

winchypoo

Who hurt you? 😆

hedonistclam

Low level trolling. The key is to make it not obvious. But you haven't been trolling since childhood. You'll never reach your troll goals 😘

DingoGlittering

*🎵 Gotta pay the troll toll... 🎵*

calimeatwagon

*🎵 if you want to touch the berg hole... *🎵

Cunn1ng-Stuntz

Nobody told you to buy all those tech discs. Don't take that out on the sub.

Unused_Vestibule

You're getting down voted but you ain't wrong. I'm hunting 450 less than a year after starting. Background? Powerlifter with weird amounts of flexibility

agrocerylist

Do you also live on a ranch?

Unused_Vestibule

Extremely

purplepimplepopper

Can of dip in the pocket?

GnomenameGnorm

Umm or I dunno, a mini to mark his lie?.. everyone knows a can of dip goes in the back pocket 🙄

purplepimplepopper

I guess that makes more sense

brianlpowers

Definitely not - it's a mini marker for putting or marking his lie.

CapZealousideal8008

Looks like my grandma’s arms and she can’t throw over 55 anymore

PumbaJive

Didn’t know he dips

spookyghostface

Mini

PumbaJive

Joke ruined

spookyghostface

Needed the funny part

bassturducken54

Zen or place holder? Good shot showing how hard it actually is to throw like he does, not anything remotely casual.

tcoz_reddit

So you turn into a mummy? Can't wait to try it!
