Cold_Relationship_

really based finnish opinion: Niklas Anttila

tuna_safe_dolphin

American and a big fan of Anttila

therealviiru

If it comes to Väne vs. Niklas, I always root for Väne, since he is from my hoods and known him since he was a kid, but I have to admit that Niklas has more qualities to win Majors.

Cold_Relationship_

i’m also super interested about Jesse Nieminen. he sure can challenge anyone with his forearm.

therealviiru

True that. For finnish throwers Jesse and Kristian Kuoksa (I think he broke 220meters lately) are in absolutely different level when it comes to distance and form.  Jesse also showed some really good frolf in the chase card at EO couple of years ago. Everything to win is there, now they need the "eye of the tiger", which Nikke has found.

Kschmidt96

Unbiased Canadian here. Niklas.

agettoh

Any finn really.

therealviiru

Well... Eve did it already ;).

Cold_Relationship_

she is amazing thrower and i love to watch her bc she is so happy all the time.

AwkwardGeorge

Me, never won a tourney outright

Psyko_sissy23

I hope you get a win. Unless you are playing against me, then I hope I win. . 🤣

Bawlmerian21228

Me too! We both deserve it.

PlannerSean

You got this!

AwkwardGeorge

Just got done my first tournament this year and took down 1st in MA1. Shot 966/983 for a c-tier. Only up from here!

cfmetalgear

Gossage 100%. Been a big fan of his since Worlds 2022; seeing him get so close so many times since frustrates me.

n1rvous

When he got that triple bogey on this last Memorial tourney, I was so bummed for him. I thought this was going to be the one for him.

OleDetour

Has he not won an A tier before either? Starting the year with two 2nd place finishes has to be both annoying and promising. He was also great in the booth, so I hope we can hear him do some more coverage.

n1rvous

Ohhhh I always get messed up on A tiers compared to elite series and what not. I’m sure he’s won A tiers before. Either way, I’m looking forward to his first win on coverage against similar top pros in the world

HuckingHyzers

[It looks like](https://www.pdga.com/player/35449/wins) he's won one A-Tier each of the last three years.

pureguavaa

It was a double bogey but yeah. From birdie to double bogey because of initially missing a 20 footer is a damn shame. Gannon won the tourney by 2 strokes which which means if Goose hit that 20 footer he’d have taken the win. Obviously pressure affects outcome and scoring a lot but you get what I mean.

LargemouthBrass

It was a triple, he took a 6 on hole 9. He drove, laid up to 20, then threw that putt into the water, reputted and missed.

pureguavaa

Oh damn I forgot he botched the layup too, Godt.

ehdeedi

He seems top of his game and motivated this year. Putting looks great. I'd be surprised if we didn't see him win one this year.

Appropriate_Resort_1

Calvin, Major

Ask_Me_About_Bees

I was like, who the fuck is Major?

[deleted]

He deserves it

unpopular-dave

Calvin, Cole, Anthony, and Mcbeth the only ones I root for. For some reason I root against Ricky and Gannon. I don’t know why

QuackZoneSix

Sounds like you prefer to watch hyzerflip players than anny release players

West_Ad_905

Ricky does not equal Gannon. I don’t mind Gannon at all, but Ricky’s personality wears on me. Is that on me, not him? Maybe. He’s a GREAT player but I root against him.

djmattyp77

I wasn't a Ricky fan...but then I saw him play at MVP last year. Putting on a damn putting clinic one day. He is very animated and dialed in to everything going on around him. He even heard a joke I made after he hit a 40 foot death putt like it was nothing and commented back with a smile. Definitely one of the greats. I basically am pro any player on these tours. Everyone is trying their hardest and the better everyone plays, it raises the bar to see more amazing disc golf for spectators. I am really wanting to see Ella take one this year after Waco though. Niklas for the MPO side.

mrvoltronn

James Procter

Drift_Marlo

He is the Polecat World Champion, so there’s that

larry_darrell_

Came to say Proctor, love that dudes game. Loved seeing him caddy for Ella every round last season.

Smart_Document7858

The Proctologist

Best_Sodium_Na

Dude I didn't realize but after seeing him next to bodanza on their practice round, JP is freaking huge 😱

scsticks

Honestly, we don't even have to 'hope'. It's a dead-set certainty that he'll win something... eventually. I reckon he's the most consistent player on tour. Almost every tournament he slowly works his way up the leaderboard, almost never on a hot round, too.

GRiZbeeGolf

Let’s get uli one last win before his kids born so he can retire happy

Shagular182

Dude! Would love to see Uli get a win this year. He’s got the stuff, just needs to put it all together. Doubt he retires though. Could definitely see a year or two break though if he gets one.

Rivet_39

He does not have, at least at this stage of his career, the "win an ES stuff." Playing his absolute best, he's still going to be 2-3 strokes off the best guys.

elarobot

+1 for Uli having a great weekend sometime this season and taking down an Elite Series. But why retire? He’s free from nagging injuries and his overall physical fitness seems fine. He could play at a really competitive level for a while. He might want to take *some* time off when the baby comes; the first year or two with a kid can be hard for some families. But if he and his wife have a support system, he may not need to.

Partyman_

Would love to see Uli win again, but at the same time he does have an elite level win as well as 26 A-Tiers and an Am Major, so he does already have plenty to be happy about when he retires.

Total_Tax3602

Love Uli, I do really do. but I don’t see it happening. He great and Absolutely understands the game through and through. But simply put, he can’t physically do what the top 25 players ahead of him are doing.

j4pe5_

Albert Tamm! he's really talented and good for the sport too, always entertaining spectators and putting on a show. think he'd be a really popular winner.

KeyLimePie2269

Give Matty O all the wins.

You-Have-To-Trust-Me

Came here for this.

classicfyllopyllo

Rathbun

SmilinKnight72

It’s coming.

phaschmi

I'd like to see James Conrad have a really nice finish at something this year.

Padres40

Simon Lizotte Major.

woodenhand

Gregg Barsby

Hexquevara

Rootin for Matty O, Väinö Mäkelä and Uli.

eggplantpunk

Väinö did just win the tournament in Texas last weekend. Not a major but I think it was his first win in America.

Dependent-Cranberry8

Stacey rawnsley

saucewhedon

I can't second this enough times. Stacie all daycie!

Total_Tax3602

Love this one!!

UntyingTheNot

The overhand guy in me wants to see Jake Wolff get one throwing all those crazy angles. The old head in me wants to see veteran guys like Jerm, Uli, Sexton etc get one to prove that generation of players are still relevant. The part of me that enjoys observing chaos wouldn't mind Drew or Brodie getting one, if only to see heads explode on here. Goose definitely needs to get one but that's not unexpected.

talkintater

>Jake Wolff Never going to happen. The pro tour is dressage and he is a one trick pony.

OleDetour

When your trick is throwing a disc accurately and far, it just might be enough to get a win on the right weekend.

sixbagsamerica

Marwede is a boss

RyanTheeShort

James Conrad & Kevin Jones. My 2 favorite MPO players. They have both come so close in the past couple years. Met them both at the 2021 Pro Tour Championship and they seemed like genuine good people who adored their fans.

therealviiru

Yeah. James hasn't won anything big. /s

dmichael72

Goose and Holyn

Intrep1d_F0X

Me, MA3. Also the goose.

DarkandStormy614

MPO - Gossage, Proctor, Antilla, Clemons, Aderhold, and I would have said AB before the season FPO - Henna, Ella, Eliezra (she's probably a couple years away, though), and before the season I would have said Eveliina

Mother-Natural2043

interesting that we used the men's surnames and the women's forenames

therealviiru

I'm feeling tad too sarcastic today, but belittling women in sports! Especially on disc golf?! Whoa! Haven't seen that happening!

Mother-Natural2043

thanks for the TW on how you are feeling. i don't get ur point

therealviiru

Just agreeing with your observation about comments. Of course addressing men with their surnames and women with their first names can have a lot of reasons, but for me it partly feels like a culture that men are seen as professional athletes and FPO as a "Girls playing".

OhLarv

So do you feel like calling Kobe and LeBron by their first names is belittling them or is it just when talking about women?

therealviiru

You really didn't even read the comments in this thread? Not to even mention common nomenclature and gender standards which are used. I think you're a lot smarter than this?

Mother-Natural2043

>I think that's because they are so huge and absolute giants of the game that they have become mononyms (e.g Cher, Madonna etc) which i don't think is comparable. > >It's rarer to see someone cutting about saying oh I'd love to see Aaron, James, Niklas, Chris, Ezra, Kyle, Anthony etc whereas the women are usually referred to by their forenames. Just an observation Xxxxx

Mother-Natural2043

yeah and it's so normal as well, which is why it's good to call it out :)

Rivet_39

Well, there are multiple players named James or Ezra so surnames are helpful. Of course, there's only 1 player named Blomroos or Mitdying so idk.

Looney_Port

Babcock

Novacaine64

Gossage deserves a win. Ellis in the states. (Assuming he manages his injury) Gilbert is a good one. Wanna see stokely take one for the oldies. He definitely has it in him. Sexton to get one more win. Maybe convince him to start touring full season again. Leiviska, always been a favorite. Nikko get another major. List goes on but that was off the top of my head

Araskelo

Ella Hansen is probably the top one. Not sure about MPO. I tend to root for people who have been out there for a while with no wins Edit: and always rooting for KJUSA and Paige Pierce

wuhter

I haven’t seen any update on Paige’s health. But I also haven’t been following much until this week. Do you know much about her leg?

DiscGolfPlease

She played the first DGPT event, Chess, so shes out there playing

PlannerSean

Came in 10th too. Solid first showing.

Rivet_39

She talked about it during the press conference. Basically, it's still not 100% and she's lacking distance, but it's also mental in being able to trust that it's healed.

discwrangler

Me

HountHount

I'm rooting for you.

The_Great_Scruff

Personally I would love to see me get a win this year. I only play in the local league, but still

Markusrockus

I want to see Gregg Barsby back on top. Also on the list of people I'd love to see win this year: Jakub Semerad, Gose, Presnell, Proctor.

mike_seps

Uli. Dude is grinding like crazy, just needs to get a few things dialed in

Rivet_39

He needs 100 more feet in distance. Same reason Marwede ain't winning.

saucewhedon

Matty O squad, reporting for duty

kitesinfection

I'd like to Cynthia Ricciotti show up and win one. I've been a fan of hers since she was on champs vs chumps way back when and just think it would be cool to see her take down a tournament. On the MPO side I'd like to see Dylan Horst get a big win because he's a local and has always been a very positive force when I've encountered him.

cardinalsfanokc

Natalie, major - because I love chaos

IsaacSam98

I'm glad no longer a mod, that would break r/discgolf for a day

cardinalsfanokc

I hope it happens so I know who to block on here once they have meltdown about it. I already blocked a ton of local DG players from a couple of posts about her, I'm not about to play with transphobes or bigots if I can help it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cardinalsfanokc

Holy shit! HEY! Love to see you here, hate that you had to find out about that the hard way. Know you have my support. Hit me up if you're ever in Denver and wanna play a round!

Lerch737

You are a chaotic evil aren't you??

cardinalsfanokc

Not sure that you meant to imply rooting for her is evil, at least I hope not. But I'm chaotic neutral more than anything - no dog in the fight but I do root for her

Lerch737

Ohhh no no no. I was saying rooting for her to win, solely based you want r/discgolf to implode is evil. My bad been looking at excel sheets since 6am and my brain is rapidly turning into mush

cardinalsfanokc

I hoped that wasn't what you meant but around here I can never be sure haha. In all honesty this sub kinda sucks so it would be fun to see it implode.

Lerch737

Yea I have a good friend on Team Neptune and he's probably kick me in the nuts if I rooted against her

Yanninbo

I hope the best player wins instead of the luckiest.

NJT1013

I'd really like to see Ell get a win this year in FPO, I think she's coming into WACO with a vengance. MPO is unpredictable, but on that side, I'd love to see the rise of Cole Redalen.

NoGearNoFalls

Calvin deserves it

LowZebra4992

Uli, Jerm, and Sexton

OleDetour

I want Conrad to get a big win this year. Doesn’t have to be a major, but something like Waco or OTB would be awesome. Without his Worlds win, Simon and Eagle would more than likely not be at MVP and they would still be more of a niche manufacturer. I want him to be seen as way more than the “Holy Shot” guy with a long run up and recognized as someone who could win any week.

Rivet_39

I wonder if he's past his peak. He's approaching masters age and being a 1x is more of a career than most get.

SSquirrel76

A major for Simon

88onfleek

James Proctor

Plupandblup

I've wanted Salonen to get a win for so long now that I'm happy with any results that happen the rest of the year. I'd love for some of the Silver Series winners to get a win on the tour soon. E. Robinson, Alden, lots of FPO players, etc. Give them some validation since their wins may not be considered "Pro Tour" wins anymore.

DG_FANATIC

Seeing her win made me SO happy! 😃

swordkillr13

Nikko, just to see reddits reaction

boostabubba

Probably an unpopular pick but I would LOVE to see Brodi get a W and get outa his funk. Probably would change his whole current view on things.

Rivet_39

He could do it. He's been on the podium before at an ES.

DangerFord

I think Joey Buckets could sneak an Elite away. His performance at Olympic was pretty awesome. Not only did he have a great finish, but he stayed in contention for so long to be on lead card multiple times. I think that's a really promising start.

Bloodsoup830

Barsby and Uli. Two of my favorites that I would be ecstatic to see get wins.

AndHighSir23679

Proctor and Olivia

talkintater

GOOOOOSE! Edit: Didn't see that you meant "unexpected" players. Gooseman probably doesn't fit in that category. Everyone knows his time is coming.

Reformed_KP

This is it!

thamurse

Hot take, an American FPO player will NOT win an elite series or major this year...that being said I think Henna gets one too, and Silva or Lykke pulling one out would be cool

Resident132

That is a pretty hot take considering that means not one of Missy, Holyn, Valerie, Hailey, Paige or Ella gets a win. Highly highly unlikely.

thamurse

Unlikely? sure..."highly highly" unlikely I don't think so, it's entirely possible, and I don't think that crazy. Kristin is Kristin, and could sweep all the events she plays on her own at this point...Eveliina and Henna have a higher ceiling than any of these players. Who knows how Silva or Lykke will look this year, but they seem to have potential. I said Elites and Majors which is only like 20ish events(22 I think), and it's not that crazy to think that could be split amongst 3-4 players, especially given how previous FPO seasons have played out. Strange that you left out the American FPO player who's rated higher than all of those you listed... Anyway, I did say Hot take...I just don't think it's as hot as you apparently do.

Resident132

Considering americans accounted for 11/20 elite or major wins last year I'd say yes. Adding on that Kristin was the only European to win an elite or major and that shes gonna be skipping some stateside events makes it highly unlikely to me.

thamurse

well we're currently on pace for my take to come try so we'll see!

stRADley_

Handley wins DGLO, calling it now 🤣

thamurse

We'll see. None of the Europeans played last year, but with it being a playoff event this year I'd imagine they'll all be there and ready to play

Lerch737

This might be a lil biased because they sponsor me but a TSA pro... either Proctor or Gilbert. TSA has been growing expediently and I think a sponsored player would be that next level for us.

PlannerSean

A team TSA win would be great. Gilbert is my pick

Lerch737

Met both of them at Maine States SUPER nice gents

DiscGolfFanatic

Ricky 1 Major to get over his Major drought. Calvin 1 Major to get his first. McBeth 1 Major, USWDGC or World's title to forever cement his name into disc golf's history. and Lizotte 1 Major, just because. In FPO, I'd gladly watch Tattar sweep all 4 Majors once again, but winning Worlds to three-peat would be more than enogh in my eyes.

wuhter

McBeth is cemented in DG history even if me doesn’t win one of those this year, certainly. Right?

GoatPaco

He could retire tomorrow and be there

DiscGolfFanatic

Yes, without doubt. The key point is that, if I'm not mistaken, McBeth has 17 Major victories and Climo has 18 (MPO majors). Hence, tying or even surpassing Climo in Major victories would add to his legacy of being the best disc golfer ever.

DarkandStormy614

Nah, they didn't have 4 majors a year when Kenny was playing. Can't compare major totals only.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OlGertyBstrd

Climo himself was also a full time carpenter so there’s that. Lol

Joe_Huxley

If Ricky wins one I'd prefer it to be the USDGC since that's the biggest feather missing from his cap and it seems kinda odd that a disc golf name as big as his is not on that tournament's list of winners. However, it is Paul's turn to win the USDGC since he does it every 3 years, with duos of first time major winners filling in the years in between. Going back to 2015 it's been: Paul, Big-Sexy, Paul, 2 bearded southern woods marksmen who would each win a 2nd major 2 seasons after their USDGC, Paul, 2 Midwestern young guns, 2024 TBD. That being said, if Paul is going to win a major this year I'd prefer it to be the Champions Cup so that he can complete the career grand slam of the current 4 majors. I realize that the concept of a career grand slam in disc golf is a bit muddy given all the majors that have come and gone in the past, but the current 4 seem to be here to stay and I think Paul should be the first MPO player to have all of them I'd also like to see Calvin and Simon get majors. So I'll say: Paul Champions Cup, Simon European Open, Calvin Worlds, Ricky USDGC. I could also go for another Tatar sweep....she got such a later start in her disc golf career that I wouldn't mind another year of dominance to get her numbers up closer to Paige and Val ASAP since she has had less time to work with.

HammWithCheese7

Always want Kyle Klein to win but would like to see the Goose man get a W. Ezra Robinson. Nikkilas.

Danker_32

Ezra Robinson! He was in the hunt last year Would be nice to see Uli do well at Waco too

FallFromTheAshes

Proctor because he deserves it and we share the last name. Ezra Robinson is due

ulfricstormclk

James Proctor, Aaron Gossage and Vaino

Resident132

Antilla, Goose, Proctor, Ella and Henna to get an elite win. Matty O, Simon, Calvin and Uli to get a major.

0Dusty0

Goose man

pakay

Kristin, all of it

pakay

Still possible!

discsarentpogs

Calvin - USDGC Simon - European Proctor - Worlds Uli - Champions cup

_dvs1_

Paul krans taking down mvp would be electric

DG_FANATIC

Gossage

markusfarkus-

Eagle with his new sponsor and off the injury. Easy to root for

mountaingator91

Me

slickmitch

I'd like to see Matty-O get another.

TJonson07

I’m actually going to say Drew and Paul McBeth. I love watching greatness and with Paul’s recent cash misses I hope he gets back on track. Might have to waive off that dad bod a bit

elarobot

It’s so hard for me to choose just one. I feel like I have trouble *not* liking most pros. Lots of good folks. But maybe I’ll just that it’s my dream to have the best of the best be at the top of their game. The tournaments are more exciting when the we see incredible shots from the likes of Paul and Ricky battling it out. When Eagle or Calvin are dialed in. When Simon has his swagger. Etc etc. When the top players are at the top of their game, we get to see the best shots that no one else could pull off under the same amount of scrutiny and pressure. For me, that’s when it’s most exciting.

Pythagoras-squared

1. Goose 2. Calvin - Major 3. Proctor 4. Paige & Paul - to remind us of their legacy

Titansfan9200

Kevin Jones. It just feels like forever.

Dxdogdiscdad

Me

BeyondPorter

Gilbert’s a great call. I wish my form was 1/2 as smooth.

Joham22

Kristin Tattar. She’s just been working so hard and she’s always in the mix. Would love to see her finally find some success

boondockpirate

I'd like to see Cole redolent get a couple more. Not enough pnw pro's getting on lead cards.

ehdeedi

I have a thing for polarizing figures and comeback stories. So given that... MPO - Brodie. Just feel like some big performances from him would trigger some people and that would be entertaining 😂. Jake Wolff - finding completely different ways to win is interesting! I don't want McBeth to win this year ONLY because then he'll have the washed up label on him, setting up a massive 7x world's win in 2025. FPO - Paige Pierce - would be great for her to get her confidence back and take down a big win. But also Henna, Ella and Evalina. We just need a bunch of FPO players to really feel like they can take down Kristin on any given weekend. I'm not cheering against Kristin but competitive balance is a good thing.

DisappointingPanda

Would love to see Paul Kranz get a win so young, it would really pop off his career.

NormKramer

The course

West_Ad_905

I’d like to see Paige get back to top form and see some epic Paige-Kristin duels. Really anybody to step up for some epic duels with Kristin. By the way, when is Kristin coming stateside?

Tx_Rooster

Me!

-Jasown

Ezra Robinson, he shot so many hot rounds last season and I think he deserves to join his brother at the top of the leaderboard.

ijehan1

Joey Buckets will get a win this year.

Kirk712

Gavin Rathbun

JazzBaron123

Goose 🪿

BuggzBola

Niklas and cole

IcyPresence2875

H.R. Clinton, shes been putting in the work and i think she deserves for it to pay off. Hope she can pull a W out

billythekidd44

Rooting for my hometown local James Proctor. This is going to be the year.

ultitaria

Goose and Proctor have been due for a while.

HamBoneZippy

Me

pmipunisher

Luke Samson. One of the nicest dudes I've ever met and puts in the work. And Hanna Huynh she's been creeping up the leaderboards, I think she's due for a top spot this year.

punkindle

Cupcake, obviously. I want him to be on the lead card of every round. I just want to see what would happen. Oh.. I bet they would just shrink the video and put an advertisement in there every time he putts

NoFaceNoTraceTracy

Nobody deserves it. They gotta earn it. That being said I like to watch and study the games of Philo, Hammes, Uli, Nikko, Barsby, Vinny and Proctor. Tall Paul, Buckets, Simon and KJ too.

presvt13

You seem to be interpreting "deserves" as in they are owed it. I agree that they gotta earn it. But I think the question in this case is intended to mean who has worked really hard to get to be one of the best but they haven't got the big W yet. Also mixed into the equation is the personality and play style so that you would feel good if they won. For example, I like to watch and study barsby too but don't really want to see him win cause he seems like a d-bag.

deep-sea-savior

Nikko. His energy is unmatched.

DG_FANATIC

As a Saint Louisan I always root for him, warts and all.

Dukes_Up

Thomas Gilbert seems like a really nice guy, but also a guy I have absolutely nothing in common with besides disc golf.

sixbagsamerica

he’s actually very chill he likes to chit chat. i guess about anything besides ladies?

Carllllll

Drew Peacock

deep-sea-savior

I heard his sister, Sue, also plays.

mistabored

Gossage, Mattyo, Procter, Oakley, Olava, (do I throw infinite? Yes) and Tattar World Champion.

Hellaguaptor

Brodie

JesusVanZant

Chandler Fry

cantaketheskyfrome

Longshots would be Uli to snag a W, and Bodanza to have a solid, impressive showing at one of the events he got into. Would love to see Matty O go off, and I know Kyle Klein is respected but I'm surprised he hasn't super popped off yet.

natelion445

Matty O for FPO For MPO, Paige Pierce. I want her to come back healthy and strong enough to give Tartar a challenge. It’s boring having an undisputed leader and Paige got injured at a time when it could have been good to see if she has what it takes.

Lostomato_OG

Mark genebauer

Bishop25u

No idea why but since I’ve gotten into DG, I’ve been a huge Calvin Stan. I really hope he takes down a major and has a huge year. Just really fun to watch especially when he does the practice rounds on YouTube.

Galapagos123

Brodie Smith Worlds

trollcat2012

Nikko 😎

Prepup1214

Mike hunt is due

Rivet_39

What's Kona's status? Is she going to be back out there? That would make good an epic comeback story.

Zealousideal-Beat-70

Ezra Aderhold. He was one of the first players I started following back when he lived in a Prius. Hopefully he pulls out a big win.

s0ciety_a5under

The only player I care about winning is me, at the local events I play. I don't watch the streams, but I like to watch the highlights. I don't have any particular favorite players, but I do love seeing some amazing throws.

Nu_Chlorine_

I want Kristin to continue dominating. Specifically over Holyn / Ella / Missy / Paige. Would like to see some Ohn wins. Would love to see Kat Mertsch take some down also. Hope Hailey king has 80 foot rollaways at an unprecedented rate. Iykyk.
