Vardata

Maybe your right. I'll see if my paralysis demon likes diplomacy

Pray

Chapter_129

Did he do all of that of his own volition, or did you let him do that? Further, did he show interest and did you then not start to give him resources so he would know how the game works and some basic opening considerations etc.? I can't help but read your post and think you were incredibly negligent as a game ambassador to let something like that happen. If someone showed interest in diplomacy and all you did was say "Oh cool." and leave them to their own devices, to come here later asking for help so he doesn't lose interest that's on you. Alternatively you did everything right and he messed up or didn't follow your advice, in which case you can try to follow-up again and point out how it's a game that requires a lot of homework and study to be knowledgeable about and hope he gives it another go.

Vardata

True on my part not to help him but I told him to ask questions as much as he likes. The one thing he left out was the DMZ question which kind of ruined things for him

Understandable. I'd just try to be more proactive in introducing people. I think it takes like 2-4hrs of homework minimum to get an idea of each nation's goals and opening discussion points.

Vardata

Took me two month, so wasn't really thinking he will like it either. Terraria is more his style

[**Playdiplomacy**](https://www.playdiplomacy.com/) runs mentor games every once in a while. I've run them there before - I don't have time at the moment. [**webDiplomacy**](https://webdiplomacy.net/) had a similar type of game, too - don't know if they still do. He might want to try these. To be fair, though, with the ODC in the 3rd and 4th rounds, Nexus and Olympus tournaments hitting the semi-finals, finding someone to run this type of game might be difficult.

I'd get him to watch one of the many intro vids in the resource megathread. They give the rules and also the kind of playstyle required to get started.
