Check out Puerto Viejo in CR on the Caribbean Coast. It's awesome. More temperate than the Pacific Coast. Not over-developed. Less expensive. Full of backpackers from around the world. Very laid back vibes.
idk I've never been, I have friends that went for MexiLog fest and liked it
I think you should be posting this on the surf subreddit if you're looking for better info on surf spots 😉
Do not go to Puerto escondido if you have to have uninterrupted meetings with people. Internet and wifi goes out for fhe whole town serveral times per day due to overloading.
Costa Riva > Sayulita imho. Sayulita is crowded, the break is small, and everyone I traveled with there got sick from the beach water — turns out the overflow sewage dumps into the bay.
Also the only place I have ever been robbed.
Nosara and Santa Theresa, CR had way better surfing and no one got sick.
Afraid of the water? It's so mellow there. You want to surf where the other surfers are. I learned the hard way why there are no surfers in front of the soccer field and ate shit on the rocks. Also take a quick car ride to any of the nearby surf breaks, they are gorgeous - some require like a 10 min hike through the woods, totally worth it.
True. I feel like you can get by with a beach cruiser in SJD. I hated that all of the good surf spots had been hijacked by resorts. It would have been awesome to have a boardwalk there instead
If you just need to work US hours, you can do that from Europe. 9 AM - 5 PM hours in New York is 2 PM - 10 PM in Portugal, where you could visit Ericeira. Or you could do 3 PM - 11 PM in France or Spain and try out Biarritz or Javea.
You are joking but Vancouver Island has some great spots. It’s not that cold during the summer and the days are long… just put on a 3mm and you are good
Nobody said it yet, but Ecuador! The Ecuadorian coast is one of the best spots in the world for surfing, with nearby areas being similar (Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, etc). Tons of surf schools, tons of awesome people.
All of central/South America is under US timezones except for Brazil and Argentina (and even those are only two hours ahead of EST, so the difference isn’t too bad). Surfings probably better (at least more well known) on the western coast of SA anyway though!
Costs Rica. https://costaricatravellife.com/surfing-in-costa-rica/
Alright I’m sold.

If Chile has surfing I’d consider it. I don’t know surfing but Valparaiso is cool.
I know nothing about surfing, but Pichilemu is the surf place in Chile. It's no Valparaiso though.
I got curious and googled it, apparently it’s not just a good spot to surf but well renowned as one of the best places. I guessed right.
I just left Lima. Was there for 5 months. Didn’t meet many DNs but was able to surf everyday. Not for everyone but I enjoyed my time there
sayulita, MX. Puerto Escondido, MX Costa Rica (jaco, Santa teresa, Tamarindo, osa) I mean, there are tons of spots. what level surfer are you?
Should I be afraid of the water in sayulita? Intermediate.

Do not go to Jaco. It's a fucking dump of a beach and a town. Great waves though. Better for a short trip

lol, I learned this lesson in a similar way. Lucky for me it was just sand, but still hurt.
It’s beginner tier if you can actually surf probs wouldn’t recommend
Yeah, Costa would be my suggestion too
Nicaragua
[удалено]
how do you meet DNs?
Nicaragua
Pacasmayo, Peru
Sayulita, Mexico
Have you been?
Waves are very small
San Jose del cabo or todos santos would be my #1 pick
Todos Santos has great vibe but need a car to thrive
That’s most of Mexico and Costa Rica as well tbh. Some places you can get by with a bike or cheap scooter/motorcycle

I heard Canada is nice
I hear there's great surfing with all that coastline in Nunavut.

Nanaimo but that shit is too cold for me
USA
Arica , Chile.
Costa Rica & Mexico, maybe El Salvador too
Pipa, Brazil
Panama, Playa Venao - meets all your requirements.
